[Q] Diag Mode Based Domestic SIM Unlock - General Questions and Answers

I have a Sprint S4 L720 and for the past couple of days have been trying to handle this Domestic SIM Unlock using the 2 popular threads (one from @autoprime and other from @imbmiller)
I was successful (well assume I was even though I havent gotten my hands on any other SIM other then my sprint sim) up to the point when I found the 3rd thread found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2539794&page=2 that I encountered errors and couldnt go all the way through.
Now whether I need that 3rd thread to fully unlock my sprint to tmobile i am not sure, it may just be excessive unneeded info for me wanting to do just the basic domestic unlock and not mess around with any ROMS etc.
Well my question is, whatever I did or attempted from the instructions on the 3rd thread, may have caused previous processes from the other 2 threads to erase, how can i get back in DIAG mode
I am stuck and unable to access DIAG mode using ##3424# and had to reinstall samsung drivers because somehow uninstalled. I am trying to do everything all over again from step 1 on thread 1 and its not becoming successful as it originally was.
Damn...I knew I should've just stopped and not continue with thread #3
Help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

BUMP
I know for the most part what I am doing I just need a quick refreshment; quick insight
please.
anyone?

[Q] I have s-off and unlocked but can't switch simcard to new network

I have s-off and unlocked but can't switch simcard to new network
I was given a bricked phone by a friend and got the device working again by following the tutorials on the forum. It took four days to do after many trial and errors but eventually I got it done. Also after many fails I got a ROM to work on the phone. I got s-off and the top of hboot says unlocked in pink. I thought that this would also allow me to use any sim card in the device. I tried using another friends SIM who wasn't on the rogers network and it said "enter SIM unlock code". Meaning, i think, that I have missed something along the way. Which is likely considering the vast amount of how-to's and information out there half of which don't work either from my own inexperience or the writers. Anyway I Have found two major conflicting views on the subject namely 1.That if you have s-off and unlocked bootloader you should be able to use any sim and 2.Only buying the unlock code from the carrier will work no matter off or unlocked.
Rather than just paste every scrap of information on the phone that I have garnered from fastboot and through the information through settings could you let me know what I need to give you in order to help me figure out what it is I need to do? Thanks. Having finally getting the phone to work again I don't want to chance of hard bricking it due to messing with the wrong thing now that I got it going again.
And thanks to cyanogenmod, juopunutupbear.io, clockworkmod, dekoslav's how-to and this site, I would never have gotten even that far.
Further information I just foundout via wiki

Need help with flash, problems with cdma ws

I've been trying to follow guides, and I'm having a huge problem with cdma workshop, it will not recognize any phone I have. I have tried switching coms, using debugging mode, and a lot of other methods. So I got my phone information that I need from my boost donor phone which is a prevail, and now I'm to the point where it's starting to seem like an impossible task and very frustrated.
If anyone has some good ideas, let me know I've also looked at the first 20 terms for cdma not recognizing phone on google.
If you have a great method that doesn't involve cdma or know my problem and how to fix cdma so I can continue on with the flash, I'd be forever greatful.
Check your USB Cable. You can also check out the thread HERE.

[Q] Unlock / valid sim OS upgrade Galaxy S3 (Verizon, Family Mobile)

I was wondering if someone could help me or point me in the right direction to avoid bricking my phone somehow.
First off, a bit of confirmation for anyone else out there... I have successfully moved my Verizon Galaxy S3 to Walmart Family mobile. Currently trying to (safely) rid myself of annoyances.
Bought a new device via ebay with clean ESN for Verizon (I'm unsure if it's still locked to Verizon network, see below for details)
None of the suggestions like *#1973 ... worked as my phone was on a 4.0.1 release (or so I think) I don't see any websites that would offer and unlock code and I read somewhere that the manual unlock needed something like 4.1.x or higher.
I used Odin to upgrade my device to 4.1.1 (Still couldn't find any unlocking info but..
Inserting my Family Mobile SIM card actually works (for calls and SMS) but the device still complains that it has a non-valid sim for Verizon. Going in to the Apps menu and killing the Setup Wizard 1.0 removes that message until the next reboot.
Optimally, I'd like to upgrade from 4.1.1 to 4.3 but have a few concerns.
Will an update rid me of the Verizon sim check? or is the sim checking piece not in the ROM but actually inside the bootloader itself?
I'm not highly technical (but dangerous enough I suppose).
When all is said and done I'm looking to have a 4.3 device with a Family Mobile APN that works (so far I don't believe that's occurred. Device is nice under wifi and says that cellular data is 'active' but I don't think it's working since I can't hit websites in cellular only mode.
Any suggestions for getting my device to a happy place without rooting it would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Being that I posted this for others as much as myself I'll go ahead and answer my own question.
After using Odin to bring my S3 (i535) phone up to rev 4.1.1 of Android using the Verizon image (only updating the AP, not the bootloader or other elements) I found online, I was able to cable the device in to a PC running Kies. After performing a quick backup I looked for potential firmware updates and was able to have Kies do the upgrade from 4.1.1 to 4.3. This removed most of my fear of applying something wrong (BL, AP, CP, CSC).
Once the update completed I was in fact asked to update to the new Kies 3 before restoring my backup. I can verify that running that update was smooth and the new Kies restored the backup created with the earlier version without issue.
The non Verizon SIM issue still exists on 4.3 but I continue to kill the Setup Wizard app after booting the phone and all seems OK.
I should also note that in 4.1.1 Verizon removed the ability to add APNs but that is now back in 4.3, so I was able to successfully update to the T-Mobile APN settings Walmart Family suggested.
Next month I will be attempting to move an unlocked global S3 mini GT-i8190 to Walmart Family as well. At present, the 4.1.2 OS is the latest release there. I do not intend to move that device to 4.3 at this time. I have read that it may be possible to rest the device and list is as Romanian (or some other eastern European country where Samsung did decide to offer the newest version to the public).

[Completed] [Q] Trying to switch networks

I'm trying to find out if what I would like to do is possible and if it is, how I would go about doing it. I've already spent hours scrolling threads on here looking for information. I feel like I've scratched the surface but I haven't found exactly what I'm looking for yet to confirm whether or not I can accomplish what I'm attempting to do.
Let me start at the beginning. I own a Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A (SM-G906K) and I recently switched carriers from AT&T to Verizon. At the store I was unable to get the sim card to work with my device. I also checked the IMEI on Verizons website and it said my device was not compatible with their network. Out of necessity I picked up another phone. I know Verizon is or has been a CDMA network but from what I understand, they are transitioning or have transitioned to a GSM network. The phone I purchased at the Verizon store; a G360V; does not work without a sim card, which seems in line with any other GSM device. Furthermore, I tinkered with service mode on my G906 to get a LTE connection a while back and I saw a CDMA option in the menu. Out of curiosity, I checked out service mode again. Sure enough through navigating the main menu in service mode I can access numerous options containing "CDMA" in the title. The problem is I don't know what any of these options do.
I would like to know if there is any possible way to get my g906 working on Verizon's network. I feel like this would be more or less easy to do with an American device but since I have the Korean version, the model I own was skipped when non-Verizon devices were certified to be on the network. I assume this because apparently quite a few individuals have brought their own device on to their Verizon plan.
So my questions are: Where should I look to get more information about getting my Verizon sim to work on my g906? I see a lot of info about switching from Verizon to a different carrier but what about the other way around? Where can I get detailed explanations of the service menu options and their functions?
Thanks in advance
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. The best place to ask is in your device's specific forum here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5 Also see this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/sm-g906s-k-l-owner-thread-t2807639 This is probably the best place to start.

Can you convert SM-N915V to ATT ?

I just received a new Galaxy edge phone (out of the box). And did the lengthy updates to 6.0.1.
Ready to activate I went to ATT store and they tried a sim card on it.
Well nothing happened.
They could not get it connected to anything.
This was an existing Sim that they had laying around. So not sure if it was even active.
Was going to test on my own sim for home testing, but it is a nanosim size and doesn't fit.
When I get it completed was going to root the phone and get rid of all the junk on it. And load magisk as well.
Have just started looking at guides for that.
Any help getting me on the right track for getting this to go to ATT and root (unlock bootloader) would be great.
If there is any more information that is needed please ask.
Thank you
Talked to the right person at ATT the wrong one the first time.
