Nexus 5 doesnt get into recovery mode - just restarts - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi
i am trying to get into recovery mode. when select recovery mode in bootloader and press power button it just restarts, doesnt get into recovery mode.
how to correct it

You could try the following: install the app Quick Boot (Reboot) from Google Play. Start the app and tap on Recovery. Hope this helps.
I know this doesn't really solve your problem, it's just a workaround.

What recovery are you on? stock or custom?
If custom try to flash it a second time in fastboot, then fastboot reboot-bootloader and then fastboot reboot-recovery

[Q] P3100 Unlock Bootloader, FastBoot, Modes

I apologize if I have understood this all incorrectly, but kindly clarify the following for me.
What I have already done:
1. Installed CWM (ClockWorkMod) on the tablet: Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 using Odin
2. Installed the rooting zip file from external sd
3. Made a backup image on an external sd
What I need to do:
1. Flash a custom ROM onto the device from my PC using fastboot
Errors:
1. Fastboot devices returns nothing (absolutely no response... please find the attached pic)
2. Adb reboot bootloader - just reboots the OS (not in fastboot)
3. Fastboot oem unlock says waiting for device endlessly.
My Queries:
1.I have a recovery mode and download mode (aka odin mode). Is either of them the FASTBOOT mode or is fastboot something completely different. If so how to get into FASTBOOT mode??
I read I have to get a USB icon and a Fastboot mode display on screen. I do not.
2. Why is my device not showing under fastboot devices (on download mode, neither show the device.), but adb devices shows the device under recovery mode
3. Is it possible to flash a ROM using fastboot if I have CWM installed. Or does CWM disable fastboot?
4. Also does this device have a Fastboot mode at all? If yes how to get into Fastboot mode??
From what I've read here, there is no fastboot mode on the Tabs.

In that case, how do I flash a custom ROM onto the device?
Thanks!

load it on your external sdcard, boot into cwm and do a fullwipe/factory reset then install the zip from sdcard. poof, rom installed
to boot into cwm, turn off the tablet.
press and hold power and volume down (the one closes to power button) once the samsung tablet logo appears let go of power and continue holding vol down until cwm appears (this can take a couple minutes)
Thanks then!

You use fastboot command from bootloader.

im not good at this, what do you mean?
When you boot the phone using vol down + power it boots to the bootloader ( a screen with some info about your device and a menu) this is where you enter fastboot commands or run .bat files.
Your phone should indicate whether or not you phone is connected via USB in the upper part of the screen.

You mean, you can't get into Recovery mode? Because Bootloader mode IS the "fastboot" mode..
You can go into Recovery mode, by turning the phone off, then holding the Power button & the Vol Down at the same time.
Then use the volume buttons to scroll to "Recovery" and press Power button to select.
If your Recovery is working as it should, it will take you there..
If not, you can reflash a stock Recovery or Custom Recovery..

OPO can't access fastboot mode

Hi,
I have a problem with my One Plus One. When I open the phone, there is only the "CYANOGEN RECOVERY" screen that appears.
I can access sideloading using the menu but it is not working. I tried to sideload CM12 and it is looping back to the recovery screen
More over, I cannot access fastboot mode. I tried to use adb to reboot the phone in fastboot mode but adb only sees the phone in sideload mode
The Power + vol up combinaison doesn't work...it will come back to the recovery screen
Any idea ?

Are you attempting to boot into fastboot with the cable connected? That's been known to cause issues, so unplug and try again.

Htc one a9 can't boot no usb debugging

I really screwed up this time...
I did a factory reset on my phone, which means that the settings are back to default and I don't have USB debugging. Me being careless, I was in download mode and while trying to setup TWRP I typed:
"fastboot flash boot twrp-3.0.0-3-hiae.img"
instead of
"fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.0-3-hiae.img"
Now whenever I boot it takes me to my recovery and I can't change the boot image because USB debugging is disabled. I hope my htc isn't done because of my carelessness.
what happens when you tell twrp to reboot to recovery or download mode? I'm guessing that those are still factory, if so, fastboot commands might work in one of those, if you can get into one, to reflash boot.
Recovery mode shows a phone icon, then you need to press and hold power button and tap vol up to go fully into recovery mode.

recovery mode

hi, I hope I'm in the right place to get help with my issue. my Ace is in a reboot loop that i can't seem to get it out of. i have tried force rebooting and lt will not enter into recovery mode so that each time i would hit recovery mode the screen goes blank for a few seconds then the moto logo (M powered by Android) screen comes on with vibration for six seconds then again to blank repeating this loop until i again hold power and volume down buttons. I do have a lot of apps installed but this phone has a whole lot of memory that came with it. I am hoping this forum may have some ideas to help me rectify this issue. thank you.
While connected to a pc, enter the fastboot - w command. This will erase the internal memory and your phone should be able to boot.

thank you for responding. I connected my phone to my laptop but it does not detect it. my phone has, highlighted in red, AP fastboot flash mode (secure). also, tools mode: Disabled, and OEM locked
If you can reboot to recovery, try a factory reset.

thats the problem I"m having is getting into the recovery. I hold the volume down and the power buttons down till I can see the options recovery mode, but when I click on it by pushing on the power button, that's when it goes into the loop mode and never goes into recovery.
Use the Lenovo tool to download and flash the stock rom which includes a recovery.

I did what you adviced and I was instructed to enable debugging or fastboot mode in order to be able to rescue. But if I was able to do either one of those that means I wouldn't need help booting up. follow what I'm saying? because I would have to get into the settings to enable debugging or fastboot mode, somthing I can't do because my phone will not boot up.
To enable fastboot moode, hold the power button and the volume down button at the same time. This should put you in the right place. You should get red text that says you are in fastboot mode. If not, go to https://t.me/motoblankflash and ask for help.
