Then I can listen to toutube or spotify easily on my Hifi, simply using my Android phone.

I don't know guys if you are interested into, but there is an application that allows you to stream video and audio and see your picture via Wireless on your computer using your web browser...

AFAIK, there's currently no way to do a raw audio stream from Android over the network; and I can almost guarantee you it won't be possible at all without root. Closest you could get would be getting a Bluetooth audio sink (like this or the official Nexus home dock) and hooking that to your hifi. There are apps to stream local content via DLNA, but there isn't anything to stream arbitrary audio in Android.
EDIT: Some PC Bluetooth stacks may also be able to receive A2DP audio as well, but it's not a universal feature.
Check out mecanto, it's an app that syncs your music to the cloud and then you can stream it from the cloud and play on your phone.

I'm amazed that there's no interest in this. I'm sure I haven't searched enough and so probably should pick on a more current thread. But it seems a no-brainer to me to want to go this direction. Everyone discusses streaming from PC to phone. Why would I do that instead of just listening to the PC? Now if I could stream from phone to PC... I have many phone apps that let me listen to unlimited tunes and radios from all over the world, which of course I use outside the house. But using it in this way in the house, my phone would not only be the source, but the "remote" -- the controller. Walk around the house w/ just the phone. Beats my carrying my Squeezebox "portable" radio, as I do. Or maybe I need to pay $150 for the Squeezebox solution, their remote controller... Just don' get it.
yes. i also think this is a great idea. there a heaps of pc to android threads.
usage scenario i am thinking.
walking around with device. the device contains song files and player. if that player had a button like stream to ie desktop, home theatre speakers, etc etc. that would be great. sorta like wmp 12 stream to button if anyone is familiar with that. bluetooth has the restriction of range so ideally wifi would be the better solution. curious to know if anyone has come across any updates to this.
I use 2 apps because im undecided which is best firt one is called 2play dnla
and the other is upnp. search in the market for both :-D

On Iphone platform there an interesting app LIVU (stevemcfarlin.com/livu/features.html).

Theres an app called Twonky which acts as media server on your Android. It lets you stream upnp to whatever device you have capable such as Apple TV, Playstation etc. I have an AC Ryan Playon HD player which is hooked to my local network and I am able to recieve and play media through this to my HD TV from my Desire over wifi.

Im currently using PS3 media server for the PS3 and StreamToMe for sending to my iphones/ipads. They both work excellent. Was also amazed with the lack of streaming programs.
A simple solution that worked for me from a windows pc to android was was using ES File Explorer (free), choose LAN from dropdown (top left), add new server, scan - it should then pick up your shared network.
Then navigate to your chosen movie, play with moboplayer. Voila.
If it doesn't play straight away make sure moboplayer is set to soft decoder.
Sometimes you may have to press and hold your movie icon, open as video, choose moboplayer.

For youtube videos: the youtube app can link with your pc through Youtube leanback
There is an app called "Remote Droid Player"(play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.app.newandroid). Though it needs a small application needs to be installed on PC.

Still no way to stream every sound that your android device plays to your PC? Is it not technically possible to create and android server that sends a raw stream of sound to the PC over wifi?
All the solutions linked in this thread requires you to actively choose what mp3 to listen to. I want to stream notifications/spotify/radio/everything that is played.
I finally got my transformer and I'd like to use as Video Player connected via the HDMI to my TV. The question is, is there a way to remote control e.g. MoboPlayer with my Android phone (HTC Desire)???
Any other suggestions how to avoid leaving the couch if I'd like to pause the movie?
Nope....not yet. I asked the same Q a few weeks ago when I realized the same thing.
I'm using Gmote to control my laptop for Netflix movies/HDMI TV but there is no equiv solution for the TF yet.
try lazy droid, or try droid vnc server it is a little laggy cause it is a bit in beta but i am sure it will get the job done, i think you might need root for that though
Just picked up one of these an hour ago. Comes in 500 gigs worth of wireless happiness.
I'm dumping video clips I took with a digital camera, pictures, ebooks and my music onto it now.
The way you connect to it is it creates it's own wireless network that you connect to to access the drive. So looks like you lose wireless internet connectivity while accessing the drive.
Haven't tried to access it from the doubleshot yet, but i'm impatiently awaiting the transfer to finish.
I'm pretty sure this will alleviate the lack of decent storage space all phones and tablets suffer from.
I'll post back later today with how well it works and a link to the device's product page. Making links in posts is tedious on the Nook i'm typing from.

Okay, slept and took my lady out for dinner.
Now that i'm back, the info is fully copied over and the device is charged.
First impressions are pretty great.
Comes with a proprietary usb cord to connect to a computer with, supports up to usb 3.0 (sweet!)
Also comes with an AC adapter to usb, and a car charger to usb. The coolest tiny little car adapter i've seen on the market to date, btw.
The usb cord that plugs in for just power to the device connects to the device through the tiny, round power input and not a straight usb connection.

Connecting wirelessly to the device is done one of two ways:
-Any web browser
(mixed results with both opera mobile and the stock browser)
(web browser preferred for downloading content from the wireless HDD to the MT4GS)
-Through the Seagate GoFlex App (preferred for video or browsing content on the wireless HDD)
Browsing the contents of the drive is much, much preferred through the Seagate app, it works much better.
Yes, you can stream media directly from the device to the MT4GS and output to a television. ( As noted above by siani_8 - the whole reason I got the drive in the first place )

You can play video using QuickPic Which is my current and favorite gallery app, but it falls short on video due to one big failing: no option for soft decoding.
It doesn't matter playing video on the device itself, but as soon as you output to television ( from the MT4GS in general, not just the wireless HDD specifically ) you MUST default to soft decoding on any app you use or you will get skippy video on the television screen.
Can't help it, it's a limitation of the device. The hardware decoding (at least for an .avi file ) can't both output to television and keep up with decoding the video. It's okay, though, because with a dual-core Gen3 Snapdragon and a hefty amount of RAM the MT4GS is more then capable of soft-decoding without a loss of performance.
To this end, i'd love to point you in the direction of Mobo Player - my absolute favorite video player on any android device. Handles .avi and other file formats, is free, and works fantastically well.
So, quick recap so far:
Use the Seagate GoFlex app to access the wireless HDD, and when you tap on a video use Mobo Player to view it.
Enable soft-decoding by default in Mobo Player, and you'll be able to plug into a television and watch any movies you want streamed directly from the wireless HDD.

Pictures:
You can view pictures from the wireless HDD using the GoFlex app.
Trying to download pictures to the MT4GS from the wireless HDD using the GoFlex app is not functional, but viewing is fine. Trying to download pictures or folders of pictures results in force close of the GoFlex app.
Recommend to use the web browser for downloading, but the GoFlex app for viewing.

That's what i've got so far.
This thing is pretty awesome, i'm happy with my purchase, and watching Hackers as I type this up.
With any new technology, i'm sure there will be hiccups (such as the app force closing when trying to download pictures) but so far it seems pretty solid.
The info is on the device and works on several computers tested on (win xp an win 7) so far through usb.
Tried accessing it from my MT4GS running my own custom ROM, a hacked up version of the stock OS, and also from my Nook Color running the latest CM7 stable.
From both android devices the wireless HDD was no problem to connect with and use, and works just as you would imagine it should when you buy it from the store.
I think this is the beginning of a new future in mobile storage, and honestly, streaming video straight from my pocket to a television couldn't be easier.
Definite win, more info to come over the next few days as I play with it more.

Sometimes I have trouble connecting to it, but not often.
I haven't tried to use the app for it in ages, which is probably a lot better by now.
I also haven't checked for firmware updates - ever - so it's likely some of those small hiccups are rectified.
Either way, it's way awesome, nothing like walking around with some 400 gigs of space just a button push away.
You can even just reach in a pocket or backpack and press the button then just do your thing walking around or whatever with access to whatever is on it.
Very handy, very nice despite it's small aggravations from time to time - for the prototype commercial product of what they will all be like in the future i'm thoroughly impressed.
Doesn't get hot when running from the battery, either, even in hard drive zipper case in my cargo pockets.
All in all, a solid win and definitely a quality offering for a new product type launch.
If I could go back to the store with the cash in my hand and stand in front of it to make the choice over, i'd get it in a heartbeat without hesitation.
I had been waiting for the allshare cast dongle, however it is a bit pricey. If I purchase a samsung smart blu-ray player with allshare built in, can I stream netflix from my allshare enabled s3 to the blu ray player and watch it on my tv? Or, does allshare only allow you to share files that are saved on your phone? I come from motorola and I am used to the mini hdmi port on the phone. I understand that I can purchase the mhl adapter, but I would prefer to share via allshare so that I can sit back and play plants vs. zombies or watch netflix from my phone without the bulky wires. Basically I want to know if it allows you to mirror what is on your screen. If I am searching the web or text messaging on my phone, can it be shared via allshare wirelessly through an allshare enabled blu ray player and mirrored on the tv?

I'd like to know as well, I use the MHL, but it would be nice to go wireless.
I doubt it, and not because it can't be done, but something tells me Netflix wouldn't allow it. Why not tether to your blu ray player and watch Netflix that way? It will look better.

I do not have the blu ray player, but I was going to buy one depending on the answers I received. I do not watch many blu ray movies but I would have purchased one as opposed to paying 90 dollars for the allshare cast dongle. So basically, allshare does not just mirror what is on your phone screen to the tv? If I can not use allshare to watch netflix or youtube on my tv through a blu ray player then I will just buy the mhl adapter. Allshare is very limited in my opinion if all it allows you to do is watch content that is saved on your device. Is that really the case?
Net flix, hbo go, and similar apps will not allow this to work no matter what hardware your running. On some droids however, the hdmi out cable would work, but bad resolution. Have not tried with Samsung's usb to hdmi, but I'm thinking it's a no.

All share is just a dlna server.
Get a dlna bluray player and get playon going on your pc. Tether with the phone if thats your internet source.
Playon will stream most anything over dlna including netflix and hulu.
Man, you've been feed a lot of useless information. In case someone else stumbles across this thread and wants some good info:
First, no app "lets" or "won't let" let allshare work. Allshare is also not a dlna server. Apps have no control over allshare, alls apps are mirrored.
Second, I was under the same impressions you, that allshare would allow multitasking, but it doesn't.
So here is the real skinny. All content is mirrored to the secondary screen with (usually) acceptable amounts of delay.
If you are playing solitaire, or reading web pages you won't even care about the delay.
That being said; if you are trying to watch video content or playing fast pased games that require realtime adjustments you will find yourself in one of two cases:
1. Your app supports a second display over allshare. In this case you will find that audio to video will be in sync and you will have an enjoyable experience.
2. Your app does not support a second display over allshare. In this case you will find that your screen and video content ARE displayed over allshare; however, audio and video are not going to be in sync and you will hate your self flr spending $100 on the device.
Netflix, youtube, chrome, and prety much everything accept the video player built into samsung devices all fall into category #2.
you want your content to be in sync you need to use the hdmi dongle or by the docking station for the note (it has 3 usb ports and an hdmi port).
Wrapping it all up:
All share is good for slow paced apps, video with no audio, and video if you put the video on the phone or sd card.
HDMI is required for all other video viewing/gaming purposes.
Hey all,
I have an old (80's-style) full-length cabinet that sits on the floor. It's got a 8-track, FM/AM, and record player built-in, but the radio sucks and the record player is broken. I want to gut the whole thing, install some more modern speakers, install a new record player, and control it all from a tablet or touch screen computer. The big thing I'm looking for is a bit of "future-proofing" so that it can control both the built-in speakers and cast to other devices across the house or even the back patio. We have guests over pretty often, whether to cook out or just hang out in the house. I'd like to be able to pop open the lid of the cabinet and let anybody add/change the music playing, or be able to play the record player throughout the speakers in my house (my wife enjoys the records, while I prefer the convenience of Google Play Music).
I think the best way to do this is through Android, since it's much easier to cast to devices, and I can still change the music playing throughout the house via phones, tablet, and gHomes if I want.
Does anyone have a recommendation for building this solution? I think the most effective way to do this will be to set up the speakers in the cabinet and just plug them directly into a Chromecast Audio. I'll need either a ROM or a home launcher that's more conducive to selecting and limiting itself to a select few music apps & YouTube.
The big hurdles I see are setting up "zones" so that I can pick which Chromecasts the system plays to depending on where in the house we're going to be. I also need a way to feed the external audio (the record player) to the Tablet so it can forward that sound to other Chromecasts. I've looked for how to do this a bit, and it looks like Mozilla figured out a way to do it using a Raspberry Pi. I'm not opposed to this, but I want to be sure that I can use the tablet/computer I build into the cabinet to select which Chromecasts this streams to.
