HELP!!! Soft Bricked Samsung G3 I747M (Rogers Canada) - General Questions and Answers

Hello,
Here's my issue, I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 i747M (Rogers Canada) and I decided to root my phone to connect a wireless controller for running emulators. I used ODIN 3 and rooted it with the proper ROM and it worked fine. I then noticed it had been running really slow and I wanted to update it to the latest Android platform but in order to do that I need to unroot the phone and return it to the stock ROM because I also figured out that I can hook up the controller with a USB so my phone doesn't need to be rooted anymore. I found the stock CF-Auto rom for my specific phone and carrier and reinstalled ODIN 3 on my computer. When I plug the phone into my computer with ODIN open it recognises it and the COM3 field turns yellow and in the txt box it says that its connected. I load the Stock ROM into PDA and run ODIN. It completes and I get the green "Complete" box and in the txt box it says Complete Disconnect Phone but when I restart my phone it loads the Samsung loading video and then just hangs at the Samsung logo with the blue LED blinking and the only way to shut down the phone is to remove the battery. I am still able to get to the download screen (Vol Down + Home + Power) and also when I loaded the stock ROM in ODIN it said to make sure that F. TIME RESET and AUTO REBOOT is selected but AUTO REBOOT is already checked and I cant turn on F. TIME RESET as the options terminal in ODIN is greyed out and I cant change the options, could this affect it? I know my phone can be saved as its only Soft Bricked its just a matter of how.....PLZ HELP!!!

think you have flashed the rom and theres no os to run other than blank try installing again or else install custom recovery and run a custom rom
Good Luck!

Ok I will try it again today, what is the custom recovery thing and custom rom you're talking about? Sorry im not very savvy when it comes to smart phones, links would help a bunch and someone mentioned to me today to DL a new CF-AUTO stock rom for my phone because it may be the wrong one even though it was labeled for my model. Know of any good sites to get Official Stock Roms for phones?
Thanks

Ok so I found the newest version of ODIN3 and my actual Stock ROM, /fingerscrossed
If it works Ill post up where I found everything incase someone else comes across this problem with the same phone

***RESOLVED***
Ok so, I downloaded ODIN3 by hitting up Google and downloading it from the first link which was from this site (My issue was an out of date ODIN3 program, hence the grayed out options)
I got the stock file for my Samsung Galaxy S3 i747M (Rogers Canada) from SAMMobile (<Google this should be the first link)
This site has everything you need for Samsung anything and its free you just make an account. Also don't make the mistake I did and assume the list of stock files that comes up is all that's there, you have to manually search for your phone model and a list of countries and carriers comes up for that phone. The file was even the most up to date version which was a plus.

[Q] Problem with Samsung Galaxy X Download Mode (KeyPressed,50)

This is a serious problem I am having.
First, this is a back ground of what I did with the device before I have this problem,
I bought this locked on france tele (orange)
I unlocked it.
I rooted and unrooted my phone several times (pretending I am an expert)
I tried to update my phone to 2.2 using kies by reading instructions to change registries (which turned out to be not good instruction as I down loaded 2.1.1)
from this point on, when I connect to kies it says that ''this version cannot be updated'' or something like that.
so I started to familiarize my self with odin and downloaded many android versions for samsung galaxy s mainly from samfirmware trying to get my phone back to be synchronized with kies so it could be updated with kies.
(I decided to back off a little and not to play too much with the system in my galaxy but that seems to be too late)
I tried to install the different versions in my device by download mode and check if kies know the version, it always doesnt.
BUT
at the end I got
firmware version 2.1-update1
Based band version
I9000XXJE2
Kernel version
2.6.29
[email protected] #2
Build number
ECLAIR
FROM NOW ON
I cannot use the download mode in my device to update by odin because it always fails
when I go to download mode I get
a message in red at the top that says
''KeyPressed, 50''
if i got to recovery mode it says at the top
android system recovery <2e>
samsung recovery utils
for BML
and then below are the options
reboot, wipe, etc..
How can I go out of this situation
I want to go back to be able to update normally through kies
or at least be able to install versions by odin
otherwise, it seems my device could not be updated at all.
thanks
same thing happend to me, no reply?

I think I bricked my son's tablet!

Crap!!! I hope someone can help me. I was trying to upgrade my son's tablet using odin and a stock 4.04 rom from here :Samsung P5100 / P5110 / P5113 Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Complete Stock Firmware. The first one for the P5113.
Anyway, everything seemed to be going okay following the directions and then a failed came up in the first box in odin was red. I repeated it and it appeared to be stuck. The tablet was in download mode and the blue line had only progressed about a quarter inch. I heard the usb disconnect and reconnect sound and I tried to initiate it through odin again but the tablet wasn't responding. I stupidly on plugged the tablet and tried to power it down. Now I can't do anything. Can't get into recovery or download mode. The tablet is stuck on the screen and has this message with a picture of a tablet then a yellow triangle and a computer. Here is the message: Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again. Kies won't recognize the tablet and when I click on emergency firmare recovery it just asks for PC code. I am stumped. I am not familiar with Samsung at all. Also, the message on the screen won't disappear. If I hold down power it won't turn off, the screen will go black and then the message will come right back so I'm afraid the battery will be dead soon and then I will be totally out of luck.
The tablet is a wifi only P5113 Tab 2 10.1.

Not your device but its should be similar. Hope it works for you.
No luck so far, is there no way to get past this screen?
Not that I know of to be honest, You need to get into download/recovery .... Hopefully someone else more knowledgeable will come up with something !
How old is the tab ?
EDIT :
Will ODIN connect ... When you get that firmware error screen ?

No nothing, windows does recognize it and will install the driver. But Odin doesn't show anything happening and Kies just shows connecting. When you select emergency recovery in Kies it will stop trying to connect and bring up a dialog box asking for a recovery code. Apparently if the failure would have happened during a legit upgrade using Kies it would have generated an error code for recovery. Is there no way to repair this? Thought Samsung devices were suppose to be so easy to customize? Please help my son is pretty pissed.

Update!!!
I was able to get odin to connect to tablet and I got cwm recovery installed so it no longer boots to the failed firmware screen and I can get into recovery. My question is which firmware do I install?? The tablet is a Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5113 wifi only. Is the P5113UEBLH3 firmware the correct one? It says it was provided by Cellular South which confuses me since the tablet is wifi only.
Update 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Success!!! Got into download mode and was able to load the stock 4.04 firmware and life is good again. Thanks to all that helped.
One thing. Always update your table with OTA or Kies. ODIN breaks the warrantie

I bricked my device from Odin while trying to revert from a CM10.1 nightly to stock JB. Device picked up in Odin, but would not flash... unless I reboot the device after I clicked start in Odin. Dunno why, but it loaded stock firmware on the error screen... don' ask me how...
I have experienced this. Run ODIN, then connect your devices to the computer. When ODIN detect it, unplug and then replug your device. When ODIN back detect it then flash.
Recent versions of Odin work the other way around. First plug then open. Older like <1.87, first you open the program then you plug device. Glad it got solved.

I have also hit this screen several times while playing with roms, this is a fairly common example of "softbrick". Fortunately for me, Odin had no problems connecting, and then simply flashed an oem rom. I have not been able to hard brick this thing, which is a huge surprise considering all the flashing I've done. Frankly I'm surprised it hasn't blown up like an iraqi IED yet lol!
This is a good thing! It means that Samsung built in a good failsafe. It just means you hosed your rom install all the way down to the bootloader. Easy to recover from
Glad ya learned to fix it!

Hi, my problem is identical. I have a samsung galaxy tab 2 10.1 and after a failed update with Odin the message was:Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again. I try again with Odin and nothing. I used Kies, and nothing. Then i saw a reference to the md5 philz_touch_5.03.7-p5110.tar.md5 and i use it with Odin. Sucess but the message was RESET. Everithing disappeared from screen except the battery logo. The tablet is always on and with that image. The volume buttons and power don't work and it is not detected.
I'm affraid the thing is bad.
Can you help? Thank you.

Hey cruise, would you happen to still have the file you used on your son's box? The only page I can find won't let me in.

[Completed] Need Help Fixing my Semi-Bricked Galaxy S5

EDIT: See bottom of post
Hello everyone, and thanks for taking the time to attempt to help me.
Earlier today, my T-Mobile Galaxy S5 updated to 5.1.1. I searched google and came across a few links on how to root my phone (G900T) - The one I ended up using was CF-AutoRoot
I used Odin 3.07, used the tar5 file from that site above where I downloaded the root, and attempted to root the phone. Odin says everything worked as planned ''passed'' was displayed with 0 fails. I waited about 20 minutes, but my phone never rebooted, it was stuck in a boot logo loop ' 'Samsung Galaxy S5 powered by Android'' or ''T-Mobile'' was displayed.
I tried going into recovery and reseting all data / factory wipe but that didn't help, and made it even worse. Now my phone says this when I try to turn it on: ''Firmware upgrade encountered an issue, Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again''
How do I go about getting back to stock firmware , that is rootable, so I can then proceed to install CyanogenMod?
EDIT: I used Kies and was able to get back to stock firmware and the phone turns on.
Can anyone recommend a reliable root for the G900T S5?

Hello and thank you for using XDA Assist.
It's good to hear that you managed to revive your phone. Many of us find it convenient to install a custom recovery such as TWRP which makes backing up and restoring, switching ROMs, and many such activities much easier. XDA happens to have an active and friendly area dedicated to the Samsung Galaxy S5, and specifically to the T-Mobile version at http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-s5. I suggest you search that area or simply post your question in the Q&A forum there at http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-s5/help where our experts will be most likely to be able to guide you.

No OS installed, don't know what region of firmware to download

So I tried to root my Samsung Galaxy S6 today using TWRP and it got stuck in a boot loop. I went to wipe to cache and accidentally wiped to system. So now there is no OS installed. I know I need to somehow put an OS on the device but I'm in Canada and when I go to samsung's site to download the firmware, there is no Canada option. I bought the phone off of amazon and it came with a European wall charger because it was imported, but how do I know what firmware to download?
Also, when I have found the right firmware, how do I flash it onto the device? I can no longer access TWRP, all I can get is the downloading screen thing. Can I use Odin/how do I use Odin?
Somebody help me I'm panicking because I broke my brand new phone!
You should check the Amazon listing to see which model number you have. It's probably SM-920F.
Once you have the correct firmware downloaded, Google a guide to flashing Galaxy S6 firmware with Odin. There are a lot of them out there.

On the back of the phone it should say which model you have, for example G920F, G920W8, G920P etc.
Download the proper firmware from Sammobile, then follow the tutorial that the following thread has a link to.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6-edge/general/sm-g925f-s6-firmware-thread-t3078841
If the variant you have is the European model, G920F, I recomend you install the unbranded firmware.
IMPORTANT! MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE PROPER FIRMWARE! INSTALLING THE WRONG FIRMWARE CAN HARD BRICK YOUR DEVICE!
I really hope this advice helped!
Really important is only that you pick the right model to download. The region isn't that important. Go to sammobile and download your stock rom, but be sure to not pick a branded one, because they are full of junk.
Also, you must use ODIN in that Download-Mode. Open ODIN, plug your device into your pc and see, if ODIN shows up your device. If yes, select "PDA" or "AP" (depending on ODIN Version) and select your ROM that you have downloaded. Then click on start. Don't touch your phone, your cable or your computer for best results. Wait ODIN say "PASS" with a green background. If this occurs, your phone should restart and after 10 mins or so, it should boot Android.
I did the same this as the OP, now I am stuck on the main "Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Powered by Android" screen. I can boot into TWPR and into download. I have tried flashing zip from external SD card with USB-OTG with no luck, I have tried flashing from Odin, multiple Odin versions tried, multiple usb cords tried, multiple computers tried.. all result with <ID:x/xxx> Can't open serial(COM) port."
No matter what I do, I can't seem to get anything to take, not stock firmware or otherwise. Any suggestions.. donations for anyone who can help me solve. lol $$

In odin under options untick Auto Reboot.
Flash Rom
Phone wont reboot once rom has flashed successfully so you will need to do manual reboot.
Go into recovery mode and wipe data.
Reboot phone
that should help let us know if it works

Bricked my mom's Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 (GT-P3100). Can't make it work. HELP PLEASE D:

Last night my mom asked me if I could format her tablet, because it was too slow (Even for that device), and had a lot of crap on it.
So... I took a look at it and started to google about the tablet. Turns out it hadn't been upgraded to the latest firmware; it was on Android 4.1.2, and as it says here: "sammobile.com/tag/gt-p3100/" the latest available firmware is 4.2.2 .
Thus I tried to update it via software update on the device, but it turned out it wasn't able to update because the tablet has been modified. Then I remembered that a long time ago I tried to root it without much success, but didn't try again because I got bored.
Then I downloaded the 4.2.2 firmware UK version (P3110XXDMH1_P3110OXADMH1_BTU), and flashed it via Odin. Sadly it went wrong and a "Failed!" sign appeared. I can't remember what step failed, but it booted anyways, but this time my PC recognized the device as a "GT-P3110". I thought that maybe it was because the UK firmware was a Vodafone version, so I downloaded the Russian brandless version (P3100XWDMK1_P3100SERDMK2_SER) and flashed; it failed again, but this time the tablet didn't turn on normally.
I can't boot it neither normally, recovery or Download mode, it shows only a message that says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies & try again", which as I read on other android sites and this forum, it's a soft brick message.
Then I tried to do as it said, installed Kies and tried to fix what I've done, but when I enter the device data (Model and "S/N") it shows a message saying that the model info cannot be verified and that the device initialization can't continue.
imgur.com/Y89rnNg
imgur.com/OdZhT6C
So... This is as much info as I can remember about what could've gone wrong, please help me, if I can't fix it, mom will continue to be a liiiiittle too much angry
Beforehand thank you very much.
PS: I had to write wrong the links because I created this account just because I had this problem, so I can't post links.
Woah this happen to me once, but i try to flash it again and its work, this happen when i chose the wrong firmware zip, but it work when i instal the right one, maybe u flash wrong firmware bro, try flash the right rom bro
this message is like download mode, you can connect to pc and flash any firmware via odin
Yes, as said you can go in Download Mode and reflash another good ROM ! Make sure the .tar.md5 is not corrupted.
