Project Prudence - Community Developed Speech Assistant - Android Apps and Games

Hello, and welcome to Project Prudence.
Project Prudence is a closed-source, community-based intelligent voice assistant. It is constantly learning by collecting completely anonymous usage data.
Prudence is powered and raised by the community itself. Requested features are constantly added to the application with updates.
I've been using this personally for the last couple of months. I've decided to share it with you guys to explore its full potential now. With enough input and a few developers, we can make Prudence BIGGER than any closed-source corporation-based voice assistant.
Current features:
Anonymously records unknown queries for development purposes. (No spies here.)
Basic GUI.
Listens on command. (Push menu button)
Talks back. (Use Google TTS from Play Store for the best optimization)
Plays music! (commands: play "song name", pause, stop, repeat song)
Tells you the time.
Tells you the weather! Can find your location with (command: weather) OR can look up the weather of another place (command: weather NYC, for example)
Can call people! (Command: call contactname)
Can call numbers! (command: call 04818321421 for example, MIGHT BE BUGGY)
Can send text messages to people and numbers! (Command: new message or new sms. You will be guided from there)
Can change the volume. (command: volume (percentage) OR sound (percentage))
Things to do
Will act as an alarm. Can possibly act as a sleep assistant by checking your movements and waking you up when you are out of REM sleep. (possibly sleep2android integration)
Driving support.
Translation: what does xxxx mean in another language? Example: What does cheese mean in French?
Perfect the music player system. Add artist and album playing. Add shuffle and repeat.
Improve GUI
Need to enable volume controls in app
NEVER ENDING GOAL: Continuously add responses to new queries from users. What I intend to accomplish here is a somewhat-intelligent application that can at least imitate human conversation.
ALL IDEAS ARE WELCOME!!!
Instructions:
If you have a capacitive menu button, it acts the same as the Speak button.
Click "Speak," say your command and click speak again. You don't have to click the speak button again, but it's easier to understand for the speech-to-text system that way.
Download:

User Agreement:
By downloading and/or using this application you agree that unknown queries(queries that are not recognized by the application) submitted to the aforementioned application will be recorded and delivered to the developer for further development purposes. In any case of device malfunctioning, the author of this application can not be deemed responsible.
Let the developing begin!

[CLOSED] [APP][4.1+][V1.3.7] Saiy | Your Open Source Virtual Assistant

Welcome to Saiy... Install - Mod edit: Broken DL link removed.
For those of you visiting this thread as subscribers to utter! you'll know the history well. A promising release, active development and then silence..... Please accept my apologies - if you don't know that 'sometimes life gets in the way' then you are the envy of most.
A bit of history for you...
To cut a half-decade-long story short, the Fragmentation of Android ground this project to a halt. When I first demoed my creation to the world, I had visions of knocking it up on Android and then focusing on how it functioned in the background. I was about to drown myself in machine learning to bring my vision to life. Job done? Well no...
It turned out that developing an app that covered almost every function available on an Android device (I refuse to say 'phone' - it's not 1983!) , was a job for 1,000+ developers, not just a lonesome one such as I, on a 10 year old Dell laptop - and each time a new update to Android was released, I huddled in a corner and wept, as I waited for the crash reports and 1* ratings to roll in.
It turns out that bugs aren't only specific to Android versions. You multiply that by Manufacturers messing with builds - and devices running multiple versions and then even the Locale of the device causing crashes and you end up with 12,000+ supported devices exponentially multiplied by all other eventualities as your user base.
I drowned... And my (in hindsight) naive plans of master AI'ery, whilst users enjoyed playing with it on Android, dropped down to the bottom of my to-do list. Things had to change.
I decided to shut myself away in a dark room to completely rewrite the Android code, so that it was both readable and scalable; despite its complexity. Rumours flew that I had died - and in some ways, I did....
Not really ^ that just felt justifiably dramatic! :cyclops:
So, utter! is reborn as Saiy® and Open Sourced, so it may have a chance of competing with the big boys, before they run away with all of our private data and souls, in order to use their services...
Install Saiy from the Play Store - here
Note - a direct download link will appear here shortly!
You can get involved by checking out the Development Section in the app, or alternatively, if you're a curious Android Developer, check out the base code published on GitHub here
The code base is pretty large, so briefly, there are two major classes in the app, that direct and distribute work elsewhere:
SelfAware is the main Foreground Service, responsible for managing the application state and channelling voice recognition, text to speech and other API requests.
Quantum is the main processing class, where commands are locally resolved (if required), sensibility checked and actioned.
Understanding the above two classes is essential to following the flow of the full application logic.
MyLog is a global verbose logging toggle. When enabled, the output will flow class to class, as well as display durations for time sensitive functions.
The following remains for the sake of me needing some sleep and posterity
About this thread
Firstly, I’d like to thank everyone for the positive feedback and encouragement and the huge amount of messages I’ve received on YouTube, email, twitter, G+ and here on XDA volunteering to be involved in beta testing. It’s very much appreciated and I apologise that I cannot respond to them all. Please take this intro as a thank you.
This thread is for your open discussion about utter! and the features you'd like to see included, so please feel free to throw your ideas back and forth (be nice to each other) and I’ll do my best to keep up with them when I have time.
About utter!
Unlike other voice applications, utter! will be configurable to the user, enabling you to assign spoken keywords to use the functionality of your favourite applications or make system related changes to your device. There's no cumbersome overlay or launching of another application to use the features, utter! sits in the background ready to be activated, whenever you want, without interrupting whatever you are doing.
Which applications will initially be compatible?
The more interest I can demonstrate in utter! the more likely your favourite application developer will want to make their functionality available to use. The purpose of the YouTube video and this thread is to get their attention and create a more functional first beta release.
I’m a developer and I'd like features of my application to be utter! compatible.
Please contact me to discuss how our applications can work together.
FAQs
Q) Will an offline speech engine be built in?
A) I hope so. I'm waiting to see what features of Google Now are made available to developers
Q) What languages will it be available in?
A) At first, English only. Once I have the framework functioning correctly, I can turn my attention to translations (thank you for the messages I’ve received offering translation help).
Q) Will it use natural speech recognition?
A) Over time it will, but in the testing stages commands will be more structured. As my algorithms develop, so will the application's ability to recognise exactly what you want.
For the conversation mode I’m really up against it. I’m almost trying to reinvent the wheel knowing that Google are no doubt sitting on a very advanced algorithm purposely for this… They are more than welcome to allow me to use it…
Q) How much is utter! going to cost when it’s out of beta?
A) I don’t know as yet. Not more than a couple of dollars... I just need to make sure that whatever the price, it's more than worth it.
Q) Which speech engine does it use?
A) In the video I used IVONA beta (available on the Market here). This option is configurable so you can use a free or premium engine of your choice.
Q) Google’s Project Majel will no doubt surpass this application. Why are you bothering?
A) Perhaps.. It remains to be seen the direction Google take and whether their focus will be too much in the interest of nudging you towards Google services, rather than providing an open and configurable voice integrated assistant.
For example: If you assign ‘Save Battery’ to a command, on detection utter! could go ahead and minimise your brightness level and screen time-out, turn off (or restrict) all data connections, set your device to GSM only, turn off vibrate functions and screen animations, underclock and undervolt your CPU (requires root) etc etc.. Is that what you expect from Majel? Personally, I don’t… [Update - I think I was right about this!]
Q) How do I register to beta test!?
A) Hang around this thread – thank you.
Q) The icon you used in the video for utter! was lame!
A) Yes! I just borrowed the inbuilt icon for now. If you think you can design a better one, please feel free! Maximum respect (at the very least) from the first post is offered in return!
Q) Can you adapt Siri to do these things please?
A) I honestly have had these requests – I’m afraid that’s not going to be possible now… or in the near/far future /ever…

Keep up the amazing work
subscribed! looking forward to this, it appears to be a much better solution than anything currently available. thanks for your hard work and determination.
Brandall - I congratulate you on what appears to be an amazing product. Would it be possible to navigate certain applications via voice? As an example, is something like this feasible: "Utter - scroll down 25%" to scroll down 25% of the way while viewing a web page in a browser, for instance?
Also, what about controlling a desktop computer via a Windows application/plug-in?
Brandall, this app looks amazing. In 4+ years of XDA'ing, I just hit subscribe for the first time. Can't wait to try it out. Do you have a twitter we can follow you at? Maybe @utter! or the likes.

One of my favorite aspects of Android over iOS is simply choices like this. Majel could very well have aspects that surpass this app and utter! will probably have aspects that surpass Majel - ultimately whichever works best for you personally is the one to go with.

Thank you. When offline recognition is available it opens the door to many more mundane speech controlled functions. As it stands at the moment, implementing such commands would be more of a gimmick and wouldn't be quicker or save time/effort..

[APP][2.3+] SpyVisio - security, surveillance and much more

Hello everyone, after a long time testing I would like to introduce my SpyVisio app in the hope that you find it useful.
SpyVisio is a sort of swiss army knife of the remote surveillance and device safety. This lightweight and compact app encloses a set of functions that can transform your phone into a powerful instrument of control (webcam, ipcam, motion and sound detector, DVR, home alarm, video surveillance, anti-theft, GPS tracks locator, sms interceptor).
Here are some examples of SpyVisio applications:
Baby monitor
When the baby wakes up and begins to move or cry, SpyVisio can:
- Play a song, ring tone, a lullaby or any pre-recorded vocal message with your own voice
- Call another phone
- Send a text message
- Send an email
In addition, at any time you can call SpyVisio and listen to what is happening or access it through internet and see the images taken by its camera. All events are stored in the device memory and may be consulted at any time (even remotely).
Home security system
Place one or more SpyVisio devices in the environment being controlled. In case of suspicious noises or movements you will be notified on your control phone and you could take countermeasures. SpyVisio can also sound an alarm and operate as a DVR. The images taken by its camera can be viewed in real time remotely through a standard internet browser.
Car protection
Someone likes to scratch or harm your car? Just put SpyVisio suitably hidden in the passenger compartment and it will record all suspicious movements taking place around.
Phone theft
If someone steals your device, then you can use some special SpyVisio functions to track down the thief:
- In case of SIM replacement an SMS will be sent to your control phone with information about the new SIM card and the new phone number
- By issuing SMS commands to SpyVisio you can get information on demand about the ingoing/outgoing calls & messages or the GPS locations of the last 24 hours and try to get emails with pictures of those who are using the phone.
Anti-curious phone
With phone in Stealth mode, its screen turns off but all alarm functions are still active; if someone approaches your phone it can sound an alarm, take photographs of him and prevent access to other applications, ensuring maximum privacy. SpyVisio prevents anyone from using your phone without your knowledge and so you can leave it around without too many worries.
Secret investigator
Do you want to know where someone dear to you has spent the day? SpyVisio can store the tracks of the movements made in the last 24 hours and you can read them individually, or view the entire path with Google Maps or Google Earth. Every message sent or received from SpyVisio phone can also be repeated automatically to another phone (control phone). Do you want to know if in your absence something strange happens in your house? Just put SpyVisio in the room you want to check and it will record everything that is moving or making noise.
All feedback is welcome, so please let me know what you think of the app! Since the app is released for free on Play store you can, if you want, try it and post about it wherever you like!
Might want to put a link to the Play Store, just a recommendation.

Yes, that is a good recommendation.
Unfortunately xdadevelopers prevents those who have less than 10 posts on the forum to include links
However just search SpyVisio on Google, the download link will come out as the first result.

With the new release SpyVisio 1.2 you can now generate a GPS NMEA-0183 log and import it in Google Earth. In practice you can do all the GPS Cookie (Kickstarter project) does but without having to buy the cookie
New release SpyVisio 1.3
Some minor bugs have been removed and a new data storage management provides compatibility with KitKat.

This sounds like a nice app. I wish I could use this with my tablet, but google play says only my phone can use it. It's a Dell Venue 8 with GPS, but wifi only model. Any chance you can make it available to tablets with gps? The baby monitoring sounds great. Thanks for the request!
Can this work on galaxy tab 3 7.0 running 4.1.2? Google play won't let me download.
Thanks,

[APP][4.0+] Here I Am: Location reporting innovated!

Hello, I am an independent developer and I have made an application called "Here I Am". I claim that this app is better than most location reporting apps in the market and I am requesting you to kindly try this application out and tell me what you think.
Be it your mom, dad or your significant other, there is always someone who cares about you when you leave home. They want to know again and again where you are but you cannot stop your car and type texts like that. Here I Am serves you by periodically sending information of your current location in the form of SMS to that person.
But here's what makes it UNIQUE:
This app sends the texts in human readable language. The receiver will not be staring at the screen trying to figure out what do those coordinates mean. Because there will be no coordinates, nor will there be a link forcing them to open a web browser every time. The app will simply send texts in the following format:
"I'm at STREET NAME near LANDMARK", or
"I'm at STREET NAME, AREA NAME, heading towards LANDMARK. Just crossed A LANDMARK BEHIND ME".
FEATURES:
- Easy to use (provide a contact and forget everything).
- Detailed and advanced settings for users who want full control.
- The receiver only needs to read the sms, without the struggle to interpret it.
- This is a truly BEAUTIFULLY designed application.
- Look ma! No hands: You activate the app and forget it. The app will do all the work at the appropriate times.
TLDR;
This app can periodically send texts to your selected contact about details of your current location. This usually includes the street name and if you are moving towards or away from some place, it can include that place's name as well.
The application uses it's handcrafted algorithms to detect if it needs to tell about your movements or not.

[APP][4.2+] Pace Control - new app for runners

Hello, everyone!
I would like to share the news about the new app called Pace Control. It is written for runners to help them improve their training and race times. I am quite active amateur runner (I regularly run 4-5 days a week) and I found it difficult to find the app meeting my expectations, I decided to write the app myself. I have run with it for almost a year (of course not the same version) and I believe it's time to share the app with other runners.
---
KNOW AND CONTROL YOUR PACE.
Would you like to improve the quality of your training and run exactly as fast as you should?
During a race do you think you run quite slow while in fact you start too fast and you are too tired later to finish in planned time?
Would you like to run with negative split strategy, but you find it too difficult to calculate and check split times?
If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, you will probably be a happy Pace Control app user!
MAIN FEATURES:
Reliable pace information - pace calculation algorithm optimized to handle gps signal in a way which results in stable and reliable readings.
Finish time prediction - calculation of estimated finish time based on distance already achieved and current pace.
Shadow runner - tracking race progress vs a virtual runner running a race in a predefined time and with predefined strategy.
Negative split - improve your results by running with negative split strategy (start slower and gradually speed up).
Voice feedback - no need to look at your phone to get information, you will hear the messages read to you in your headphones.
Map - you can see the track you run on the map.
Save to GPX - tracks you run with the app can be saved to a gpx file, so they can be imported to external tools or sites for analysis.

Support for miles added!
Version 1.3 with map is available. Try it!
There is a version 1.4 available. Why don't you download it?
Pace Control app has just achieved 1000 downloads!
Version 1.5 is out!
Change list:
• improvements of voice feedback
- you can decide whether to hear standard messages or more informal but shorter ones.
- when some other app is playing music when a voice feedback message is to be played, Pace Control can ask the app to either lower volume or pause the playback completely.
- possibility to decide whether to hear extended message after each kilometer/mile.
- support for Australian English voice.
• some minor changes
Version 1.6 is already available. You can now export your workouts to external running services (Endomondo is the first one supported). The app also has a German translation.
Can you make the app ding with two separate notes for fast pace/slow pace with a user setting for how far off pace the dings happen?
E.g. App Settings:
Above Pace Ding
woahh.mp3 (user selectable)
Above Pace Cutoff
5 seconds (user selectable)
Below Pace Ding:
fireundermyass.mp3 (user selectable)
Below Pace Cutoff:
10 seconds (user selectable)

Thanks for your suggestion. It took a while to respond, but I was working very hard on adding the workout history and now (should be releasing in the nearest days) history export/import.
Could you, please, help me understand better how you want to use the feature you proposed? I always run with voice feedback turned on, so I usually don't have problems with correcting my pace, because I receive messages every 200 meters (or 1/8 mile). The feature would bring benefit in case you are off the desired pace very much - in this case you would probably receive a "ding" sooner. Do I understand correctly?
Hello, runners!
Pace Control is still alive. Version 1.8 with remote race functionality is ready for beta testing. Remote race lets you run a race against another runner who can be far far away from you. You run at the same time and you both have real-time feedback, so you know how fast the opponent runs. Learn more about remote race at http://pacecontrol.pbksoft.com/remote-race.html.
To become a beta tester, please, register at https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.pbksoft.pacecontrol. Send all your bug reports, requests, feedback etc. to [email protected].
Notes:
1. Beta version may contain bugs (this is why we test it, to find these bugs right?). We advise not to start experimenting with beta version right before you plan to use the app during some important running event.
2. But don't be afraid too much! We believe that you will find the remote race so enjoyable that it is worth to take a risk and try that beta!
3. Remote race requires sending information about the progress of your run to the server so that your opponent can access this information. Your location is not sent to the server, only the information about how fast you run is stored there (as well as some basic information about the race). App's privacy policy available on our web page will be updated accordingly to reflect this when beta test is finished.
good
try it and good!
Remote race is considered stable and is available in regular version of Pace Control to be downloaded from Google Play. Try it, it's worth it.
You can read more at: http://pacecontrol.pbksoft.com/remote-race.html
Version 1.9.0 which presents more detailed stats about workouts is available. Anyone interested in trying this version and sharing thoughts?
You can try 1.9.2. Even more stats and an option to prevent accidental clicks during workout are available.
In the meantime I released 1.9.3 with GDPR compliance (affects users from European Economic Area) and I started working on adding charts to workout summary screen. I hope you will enjoy these changes.
Merry Xmas to all users!
In the meantime I just want to let you know that Pace Control 1.9.4 has very nice graphs. Why don't you try it?
And, of course, I strongly recommend to try remote race functionality which gives you a lot of fun and I have not found anything similar in any other app. To learn more, please, read: https://pacecontrol.pbksoft.com/remote-race.html
Anyone from Greece here? Greek translation added!
Looks well, new version is good
Thanks.

[4.1+][FUN][TOY]Trycorder[Tool][Open-Source][Tricorder][2017-04-10] Full Trycorder

The new Trycorder 5.2.3 is in the download section on top of this page
Now with Trycorder5, The Trycorder is connecting with a central server who receive every orders from planetary trycorders. Those orders are logged, and executed on the server. (Some Text-To-Voice system here translate your action into an audible message on the bridge (the development computer area))
The Main Intelligence of the central server can respond to you.

For the non-trekkies, a Trycorder is a portable measuring tool, communication tool, and remote-control tool for your Starship.
This is an itch I had to scratch for a long time.
I wanted a full fledged trycorder without announcements, free as a beer, and free public code.
I did'nt found what i was searching for, so I made one.
The wish to have a full trycorder was so strong, I had to Learn Java, Learn Android-Studio, Learn Android Programming, starting with a classic "Hello World!" program, Learn Activities, Fragments, Permissions, and the rest, and all of this Before I started a single line of my project.
After 3 long and painful months, I finally started the project, and drived it to a version 1.0, where I decided to share my fun with others.
With this Trycorder, You can do the following:
- Look, feel, and sound like the federation trycorder.
- Fits in your pocket, so you can beam out on demand.
- Scan your environment, temperature, pressure, light, magnetic, gravity, orientation,...
- Control the device by voice-command. (Press top left, and say "computer fire" or "computer beam me up" for example)
- Take pictures and recordings from your findings on new planets.
- Remote control your own starship, fire, communications, shields, transporter, viewer, ...
(You have to provide the starship, and make sure it is on the wifi router that you use).
- Consult logs of operations. View the pictures and recordings you got back from your away mission.
- View Magnetic, Orientation, Gravity, Temperature sensors values drawn in the sensor area.
- View Phaser, Torpedo, Transporter operation in your sensor screen.
- View Shields, Communication Waveform, Tractor Beam sensor animation on your sensor screen.
- The application is usable in space, provided your phone is space-proof, and you wear a space-suit.
- The application can be adapted easily for different starships remote protocols.
- For captains only: Crew Information and Evaluation module. (to be found under logs/crew) (Contacts access)
- The communication module is real and functionnal between all trycorders on the planet and in orbit as long you are connected to the public internet.
- And many more to come ...
Here it is.
Download the APK, and install from here in the Downloads section (on top of this page).
or Download the sources on github and have fun with android studio (Download link below).
Dont forget to come back here and give me your advice, comments, appreciations or depreciations as well.
And if you have some ideas to propose, or code to submit, i would be glad to add it to the main trycorder application.
Tested on:
Samsung Galaxy Nexus (GT-I9250): CyanogenMod 6.0.1, CyanogenMod 5.1.1
Motorola Moto-G (XT-1032): CyanogenMod 6.0.1, CyanogenMod 4.4.4
Samsung Ace-II (GT-S7560M): CyanogenMod 4.4.4
LG P705g: Stock 4.0.3 (unrooted plain stock)
Tablet Datawind 7Ci, Android-4.1
Please tell me of your success so i can add to the list of tested phones.
Remember: Every button has a function, and every surface is used and clickable. some functions may not be obvious, like speech recognition that you activate by clicking in the top left corner in the curve. (just try "fire" , "beam me up", "and others you think of..." , or read the source code for a complete list of words who trigger actions.)
The trycorder contains more than 40 operating buttons, 9 animations, dozens of sounds, around 8 sensors, speech recognition and voice interaction, and a new captains-only crew evaluation and information module, now, at version 1.9.1
Have FUN !!!
For those who have a Force-Close on first opening, make sure your android device is setup this way.
Have Google Text-to-Speech installed and running in default us-english (and more if you need)
Have Google voice recognition active for us-english (and more if you need)
Have Google map installed (optionnal but nice to locate yourself on the current planet)
Have Location service Enabled (GPS)
Have Wifi operationnal (for info about your internet connection in the info panel, and location service)
Allow all five permissions that the application ask for.
For those who write android code too, this trycorder is made of hundreds of differents examples
in the differents forums i follow. This is a good example of over-populated buttons groups, with a lot of
examples applications all mixed together, trying to look like to a useful tool.
This fantastic tool, helped me learn everything (hum! almost) in android where I had an itch for.
Now people on XDA have a fantastic toy, to play with, learn in, and impress friends.

---------------------------------------------------------------
Look, feel and sound like a real one.
Use your phone sensors to scan your environment.
Use your camera to detect alien lifeforms.
Respond to voice commands.
Control almost fully every operations of your orbiting starship, by remote control.
You can beam up to your ship autonomously, (you have to provide the starship).
And a lot of other scientific functions.
In fact, you can fly around the galaxy with it, and use it on every planet you wish,
provided that this planet is part of the federation, and have a GPS satellite system.
If your phone is Space-Proof(tm) , you can even use it in space outside the starship
(use of a Space-Suit is recommended for use in space)

this application need a lot of permissions, on MM you have to set the permissions yourself
go to:
Settings -> Apps -> Trycorder -> Permissions
and then give all permission requested
I wish i could find a way to set it automatically,
with KitKat and Lolipop the problem do not happen

The version 1.7 is out.
Its supposed to solve all Force-Close. (mainly due to speech recognition)
Let me know of your success or bugs.
Wow! the 1.8 version is out. I will take a pause before the version 1.9.0.
mainly this version contains no specific changes from 1.7, and is declared stable enough for mass production.
I am working now on a brand new extension to the trycorder, (for captains only), and will keep it a secret for now.
