[Q] Using a case - remove IMEI sticker? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I've put a TPU case on my N5 without removing the IMEI first. It fit's well, but will it wear out the case (..as the sticker makes the phone slightly thicker)?

I dont think so. I Didnt remove the imei stickers on both my nexus 4 and my nexus 5 and my cases are fine

That sticker was one of the first stuff I removed . Don't see the point in keeping it ...

My case is pretty hard to remove. That's my reason atm

if you have it in place already forget about it ! I don't see how a small sticker would damage anything.

Where can i find the MicroUSB coating?

Does anybody knows where i can find the coating of the micro usb port? As you can see on the picture i have a break in it.
I searched already but i dont find these coating.

I think, hat it is one piece with the back housing. You should be able to find it on Google. But if i remember right its not that easy to replace.
And also be aware of loosing your waranty by switching it..

It's fastened with two little screws - you need a T5 Torx screwdriver to loosen/fasten them.
Very easy.

I just ordered this for total of 7,89 €.
Superglue held my antenna together about half a year. Then it cracked for good.

IMEI sticker on back.

Are we suppose to remove the IMEI sticker on the back of the device? Or keep it there? Just making sure before I scratch something off of this baby...

Keep it on or take it off, as it peels of nicely without residue. I personally just put mine on my box.

White nexus 5 sides scratch like crazy

One thing I ddin't like about the white nexus 5 , is that the sides are made of glossy black plastic , I don't understand why google chose to go with gloyys sides on the white nexus and awesome mate on the nexus 5 sides, the thing is , the glossy sides not only look cheap but they actually are... I baby my phone, I won't even put it on a naked table and I got a ton of scratches on the bottom side of the glossy frame, I'm guessing it's because of the friction caused every time I put the phone in my pockets and every time I take it out, is anyone else experiencing the same thing?
get a slim case, 2mm won't hurt your hand, but will protect body of the phone
Or get a dbrand skin. I have the back and sides, but you could just get the sides if you wanted.
They ship from Canada in normal air mail. Really quick. I had mine fitted in 4 days in the UK.

The white carbon fiber sticker doesnt look that bad, maybe I will get it :fingers-crossed:
Zippers on your pockets maybe? Without a case that would lead to scratches with either siding.

Noup, no zipper whatsoever
Not only easily scratches, but also very slippery in hand.
The white one is the one to avoid if you are going to use naked.

I can tell you that the sides do not scratch from just pulling out of a jean pocket. The plastic is way harder than anything that a jean pocket would have in it unlesss......... you had keys in there or something else. I do not think friction causes scratches but I could be wrong.
That is weird. I'm not using a case on my white Nexus 5 either and it's not scratching for me.

I found about it too late, I hit the "buy" button the second the phone went live on the play store, the white Nexus 5 reminds me of the HTC one which I always wanted to get, at least I'm passing the knowledge and I'm recommending my friends to get the black version

The Back doesn't scratch, it's just the black glossy sides

Yes. I'm talking about the sides. The sides are not scratching for me. It's still in perfect condition.

I personally think you have a change or key monster in your pocket, or you aren't babying your phone like you think you are because this is the first I have heard of it. I own the white version and I don't have a scratch on it.
I hope people take your opinion with a grain of salt in recommending the black over the white because it is the same hard plastic just different back.
Sent from my Nexus 5
no bro normal use wont scratch it .. nothing here . thousand of scratch on your phone has another story behind it . it will scratch during use in year but not this soon . nothing here though .

yeah i agree man .. i dont know why ppl keep saying black has better material !! whos said that ? it has great feel and have texture on it and its not a sticky hard (like before i get hands on it ) . feel great in hand . its just different material and feel . white nexus glossy side make it so luxury ho u come up with cheap idea !!! if u are not white nexus man , trade it to black one .
i didnt like previous nexus white version like nexus 4 . but
white is really beautiful and harmonic than black . black is not actually pure black and mat make me feel phone has ages on it !
white harmony and paradox ( white speaker phone on front and black camera in back and from back side black button make it amazing . )

yeah bro when phone constantly rubbing to something that is not baby coating it will take scratch for sure /... your baby (" i baby my phone ) is a little bit angry i guess .. i mean no harm just kidding .
bro sure a narrow fit pocket will do that . becuase i am keeping it in my waist bag (im not sure what it called in english ) and not naked . in soft guard in there or in my coat pocket and ofcourse in that soft thing . for me white is great but it need attention more than black .
i recommending u to use bumper case while u are gonna put in your pocket .
I've had 2x White 32gb and both have had screen issues (1 had dead pixels & the other had terrible screen bleed), and one of them the bezel cracked near the sim card slot. I have also had a T-Mobile version in black which was flawless. The bezel thing is real and is something I noticed after a few days of use. I baby my phones; spigen crystal armor and ultra lite case since day one, and there is still marks from taking the case off and on. Google finally owned up and replaced my white one for a black one.

If you read my post it clearly says both white 32gb had screen issues. An agent made a statement that I should have been able to select black as a replacement and promised to get it fixed. Corporate office finally approved it after calling their HQ and having the calls reviewed.

Sorry , I'm still sleepy :banghead: , I wouldn't have thought that switching to the black version would solve your screen issues , maybe the white ones you had were from a bad batch

S7 edge home button badly damaged

Yesterday I go to a store here in the PH and I saw this s7 edge. The home button is damaged and in person, it looks like a paint that is peeled of after scratching. So guys be careful with your device because this phone is soooooooooo fragile. Any thoughts?
Are you sure it's some sort of damage? It also looks like a pen marker?
Sent from my SM-G935FD using Tapatalk
That sure is a marker dot so that nobody locks it with their fingerprint as it is supposed to be a demo piece.
Sent from my hero2lte using XDA Labs
No, it isn't a marker. The button got a weak surface, if you try then you can peal of the color. The one year old daughter of a friend put the phone in her mouth and now there is a black point on the gold button.

I like the black color too but for me the phone LOOKS
a lot more streamlined and futuristic when it's black.
When the phone is black it actually looks as if the entire phone
was molded out of one piece making it not only extraordinarily
beautiful but something which is so super futuristic that it looks
like something out of the startrek and star wars movies.
Have a great day!

NFC sensor (Antenna)

Guys... Where on earth is our NFC antenna allocated? I've tried to connect various types of NFC stuff with zero success. Relp :3
The sensor is on backside on top of the Camara. U see a black point. When u don't have the original cover for the phone you can try without cover. The original cover is open on this place.
If it is not working is it maybe defect. I have the same problem with the mate 8. So it was in service, after service it works.
Now I have mate 9. Is much better.

Will try, thank you.

Yeah, I knew THAT, I just couldn't find the place physically where I should touch, it works now Thanks guys
Where is NFC antenna? It is on the motherboard or on back cover? My phone can interact with payment terminals but don't react to any bank cards. I think it's NFC antenna failure but I can't find it.
