Hello guys. I was wondering, instead of only porting new Android versions to our Optimus One, why not continue the work for the Firefox OS port? I saw it stopped and the thread got closed (maybe lack of time).
At hardware level, it should run. Some B2G code seems to be adapted already for ARMv6. If not, there's a port from some months ago for the Geeksphone Zero that could work as a nice reference. I know it's not MSM7227, but it is similar.
I tried to work on it, but it seems that I don't have enough knowledge to do it yet. But if somebody starts to work with that, I'd be honored to test.

FirefoxOS source contains some Armv7 code which is very difficult to convert to Armv6
Hello XDA people,
Since I9500 launched, developers were little afraid to pick it up for development because of Samsung Exynos' isolated documentation. (I hate Samsung for that)
Then, Ethan Chen (@intervigilium) decided to accept the challenge and port CM for I9500.. He did well. He ported almost everything (except camera and some Bluetooth related content). InSignal released partial SoC documentation at the right time and yesterday they released gralloc header. That made development easier.. I hope we will see bug free CM build in upcoming weeks.
Ok, enough CM.
I always have been quite interested in MIUI. The way they built their own framework on the top of barebone android framework was impressive. MIUI is one of the best and buttery smooth ROM ever I have used.
I bought I9500 on the very first day of it's launch in India.. The very next day, I asked one question in MIUI forums, will it ever be launched for this device? Being Exynos powered device, I knew developers would hardly build it for this device.
Then again, unexpected things happened. Official team have decided to port it for this device.. But I know it will take long. Voting is still going on. But before that, I want to use my experience and skills to port MIUI on our beloved device.
I have started working on it. I will not publish anything on github yet. I will have to make sure that the experiment I am working on will work. But I will update you all with the progress here.
Some facts :
1. No, it will not be dependent on CM source as of now. I will port it on top of Samsung stock ROM (result, better stability and fully working features).
2. I will remove the TouchWiz layer. Not only the UI part but almost every library, classes (smali) and libs based on TouchWiz.
3. Add compiled MIUI classes and resources.
I will be tweeting (and later blogging after I set up my domain and workspace) updates and progress on my twitter account..

IR Blaster is what I use a lot probably the only useful feature I've found.

I agree, the app drawer launch effect looks much slower.

Does the stock browser hide the status bar in full-screen mode like the S3 did? (Stupid regression there).

The best reason for use TW is the camera, and nobody talks about it in the 4.3 posts!!!!
The camera is the only good reason for me to stay on stockrom.
Everything else of samsung either useless or way too much. Nobody needs all this features. Especially when the rom is thrice the size of stock android :/

I've only seen the cm11 beta. And I wonder,are there any other roms for the z3? What has your experience been with them? Which ones would you recommend? I feel like the xperia os is missing a lot of basic features.

Well, like some quick settings. Like I used to be able to quickly switch to vibrate when I'm at work. I guess what I'm looking for is a bit more control and customization. I know it's a fairly new phone,so not many roms out there for it yet.
Well unfortunately not a single one is out there. Just an unofficial CM11 (made by two great devs) that is quite far from being a daily driver!

you will lose almost all features of official Xperia; camera app, walkman, album
however there is some porting project but unfortunately non of them are prefect.
and for custom rom always CyanogenMod is better than others cause there is real pro team behind it

I just got My Pixel 7 Pro yesterday (Love it) and i am running LOS 20.0 right now, to see how well it runs... (No Exynos or Tensor experience here)
It gives Me Hope for DIOS (aka DevIceOperatingSystem) right now, My upcoming Android Project which was planned for Xperias (but i switched for many Reasons to Google's latest Flagship). DIOS will be AOSP based and will come with all of the latest Pixel Stock Goodies. There is more around it of course but that will be kept as Secrets for now!
Hoping for good Times with the Tensor G2 and this Community! I am also open for Help (especially on a new SoC like this) so let Me know if You want to join the DIOS Project!

Always using latest Pixel FW for Building (Automated forking)
Builds are optimized for Performance, Battery and Quality (Audio, Video, Camera)
(I have seemly a lot of non QCOM related Android knowledge left for this lol)
Builds are made by My so called "DIOS BUILD A.I." which is ZSH Shell driven
(Manjaro Linux Based and usable with aosp-devel AUR Package)
Building of DIOS is blazing fast and super Grandma friendly
I am currently overhauling My BUILD A.I. for the AOSP Trees and Pixels alongside with some ChatGPT influences to make everything even smarter (Yes, i just started working with A.I. too). Builds will come after that and some Testing. Goal is rolling out DIOS for Pixel 6 and 7 Series rn since it will be Tensor optimized strictly (Throwing out all of My loved QCOM optimizations for the good).

4 Years and this Thread here get's already more attention as all of the Xperia Threads in the same Time... SONY killed the Community just alone with so many bad Decisions. They could make super great Pixel like Phones but it is more like even less in Terms of Features and Uniqueness. It is like You get AOSP with some Apps added. So Great! And surely worth the 1000+ €uros with it's 2 Years of Updates (Same for Security Updates).
Some stuff might be broken but nothing you didnt had before... Still Testing around...
Made for latest Stock (Magisk). Dont use with AOSP Mods yet (might cause UI Problems). Enjoy MARS!
