I have an odd problem that on LTE I am only capable of outgoing calls and sms, not incoming, data does work however. I have tried changing the APN settings to those correct for my network (Rogers) but that does not seem to correct the issue. I've tried searching the forums for a solution, however all the threads that come up have to do with being unable to connect to the LTE network, which I appear to be able to. If I switch to 3G incoming sms' and calls do work.
If anyone can give me a hand with this it would be great!

Hi all,
i noticed that my phone (drops/do not) receive calls if i was connected to the internet through the data plan, but it works just fine if i was connected through WiFi, any ideas?
PS: i changed many radios but still the same.
When the calls fail, is the phone is on 2G mode or 3G mode?
i was having a bad reception on 3G so i switched to GSM Only option.

That could be the problem - as 2G does not allow data and voice/text at the same time, could be that because data is active, calls are being dropped. Try disabling data for a while and see if the problem goes away.
yes that is correct, when the send & receive bars of the data is blinking i cant receive calls, otherwise i can receive calls with no problems.
i will try to switch back to 3G and test how it's gonna work.
thanks for your help.
No problem. I had this problem a lot before on my HTC Legend using the stock ROM. While on 2G mode, people would tell me my phone would keep going to voicemail even though I had full reception, and sometimes I would receive texts really late. It was very annoying as I never had the problem previously on Nokia phoens.
However, since switching to CyanogenMod on the Legend, and also on the Desire S, I haven't noticed the problem as much.
Have the same problem on same carrier,
Sometimes, an SMS notifies me that someone has tried to contact me with no success !!
I thought this was carrier related, but never thought this is 3G/2G radio problem on stock ROM!!
Will give the "GSM Only" option a try and will report back.
Thank you all !!!
I am running CM12 on the Desire 816 from Virgin Mobile. I can use 3G and recieve calls and SMS messages. 4G doesn't work at all. I've tried going to the secret menu and trying all the different mobile network options that have LTE in the name and no dice. I've tried flashing this and when I do that I don't get a data connection at all. I really don't know what to do here. It was working fine on CM12 until I had to reset my phone yesterday.

You need to edit a certain APN file in the system directory. I'm not sure which one, as I'm stuck on Kitkat, but maybe that will help your research.
After fiddling with countless different things and scouring the internet for help, I have decided to go to reddit & XDA to ask for suggestions.
I bought a AT&T LG G3 D850 of eBay to use in Europe, because it was pretty darn cheap. We have a good LTE network here, but no VoLTE support yet.
My carrier uses the following frequences:
GSM
900 (E-GSM) GSM
WCDMA
B1 (2100) UMTS
B8 (900 GSM) UMTS
LTE is not relevant for now, works fine data wise.
The D850 supports 900 (E-GSM)
The D850 supports the WCDMA B1 (2100), but not B8 (900 GSM)
I tried to figure out if my local WCDMA where I live is 2100Mhz B1 or 900Mhz B8, but couldn't for the life of me get my other android phone to tell me this information. I might ask my ISP for this info later.
I rooted and put TWRP on my D850 the moment I got it, and Installed Fulmics 6.5. I've also tried installing the latest modem/radio I could find. (I noticed that the baseband version didn't change though, so I assume I was already up to date.)
My issue:
I noticed 4G LTE worked absolutely fine, but never saw the phone on 3G. I noticed that option wasn't even avaliable in settings, so I couldn't force it on 3G. I later learned that AT&T brand their 3G as "4G".
Whatever, as long as I have LTE I'm happy, I thought.
Well the problem is, while the D850 is on LTE, it can't receive incoming calls. Outgoing calls work, they take a long time to go ringing however, and the D850 will switch from LTE to 2G/EDGE to start the call, it's this handover that takes a long wait I suppose.
I think the behaviour that should be happening, is that when an incoming call comes for the phone, it would normally switch to 3G to receive the call.
I assume, but I'm not sure, that the 3G in my area is 900MHz, which the D850 doesn't support, so it doesn't do the handover to 3G to receive the incoming call.
If the phone is locked on 2G/EDGE it can do incoming/outgoing calls without a hitch. Obviously I don't want to be stuck in 2G/Edge though, so I need to find a solution.
Either I need to find a way to get my D850 to do a quick handover to 2G/Edge for both outgoing & incoming calls, or I need to figure out if it should be running 3G on B1 2100Mhz.
I want to be able to stay on LTE and get it to handover to 2G GSM smoothly, I know I could be doing this manually, but it's way too inconvienient.
I'm out of ideas, can't find a solution to my problem by googling, so I have to put it to the brains of the internets and hope you guys come through for me. My last resort is to return the device and buy an international version or another phone entirely.
Sorry, that sounds like a pain in the behind. I have a work around for you though.
1) Get a Google voice phone number (you can do this online or through the app then uninstall it)
2) Install Google hangouts and hangouts dialer on your g3.
3) In Hangouts go to settings, click on your email address and be sure to check "receive incoming calls".
4) Set up call forwarding on your original number to your Google voice number. This can usually be done easily from your carriers voicemail setting, your carrier website or sometimes even as an option while setting up Google voice. It's carrier specific so you'll have to check which applies to you.
4a) (Optional) if your carrier supports it, set up Google voice as your voicemail. It transcribes you voicemail and let's you just play the recording from Hangouts. No dialing a system and going through all the annoying steps.
That's it! Then when someone calls you, Hangouts will ring when you're on LTE or your regular dialer if your on edge. *Drops mic*
Hello all,
I flashed my girlfriend's Sprint S5 with Lineage OS recently without a hitch, all services working perfectly. We ended up traveling, so she went to Sprint to set up a temporary international roaming plan. Everything was completely as expected abroad. When we got back, her phone would not send SMS messages.
We tried the usual airplane mode and such, and to no avail. Assuming something was wrong with the network configuration from travelling, we reset network settings. Didn't work. I then decided to just do a full wipe and re-flash of Lineage OS. Still doesn't work. I then resorted to going back to the stock TouchWiz ROM from Sprint. At that point, under the stock ROM, SMS were sending. Out of curiosity, we flashed back Lineage OS, and SMS will again not send. We noticed that if the SIM card is removed, SMS will send, but the phone would not be able to access 4G LTE. We also confirmed with Sprint that there are no restrictions on the account.
What could be causing this to occur only on custom Roms? Do we need to do a PRL update? If so, how does that work on stock Android?
Thanks in advance!
S5 sprint No outbound sms
I've had this problem for weeks....So far the only solution is using Google voice app....
I'm using LOS 7.1.1 20170207 kltespr nightly, LTE SMS can only receive, sending doesn't work. Only 3G SMS works.
Things I noticed:
Settings -> About Phone -> Status -> IMEI Information. When on 3G, all information is displayed here, when on LTE, only IMEI and IMEI SV is displayed, there's no PRL/MIN/MEID/ICCID anywhere, not even disabled or greyed out, just hidden completely.
ICCID also shows DUMMY_NV_ICC_SERIAL instead of the actual ICCID.
Same experience for me, I've been trying to find a workaround for over a month with no success. Alternative text messaging apps seem to work, but I don't trust 3rd parties with my SMS.
Unable to send SMS
Mike.
Which third party SMS app are you getting to work? Besides Google voice I have had no luck with any third party app?
I'm having the same issue. I'm on Resurrection ROM which is based on Lineage. Since update I can't send SMS at all other than via Google Voice. I can receive SMS and I can send/receive MMS.
I did find that if I change to 3g only for my network settings, I can send SMS. But then of course I don't get LTE data speeds for everything else. So the issue for me at least is tied specifically to LTE. Wondering if there is an APN or other setting I can change that would fix this but so far no luck finding anything.

I've run into the same problem or similar. If I set my preferred network type to GLOBAL then I can send and receive SMS/MMS messages but I'm forced to either Roaming LTE or 3G. It's often stuck in 3G after a drive for any distance. If I force it to LTE, then SMS/MMS stops working and I can't place or receive calls either but the network will show up as LTE and Sprint.
To get there from Settings Home -> More (under Wireless and Networks) -> Cellular networks -> Preferred network type -> Choose Global.
Sometimes I can force it back to LTE but roaming if I switch temporarily to LTE then once it connects switch back to Global. Occasionally I have to put it in airplane mode to get the radios to reset and connect but some combo of switching network type and ending up in global and switching into and back from airplane will do the trick.
YMMV of course.
one way I fix it temporarily is to:
cell networks - carrier settings, let it crash
go in again and let it find your carrier
once connected, make a phone call at least to get it ringing
I can then make sms mms.
it's a rediculous work around but it works for me every time
SMS Sending Problem with Lineage 14.1 (31.07.2017)
Heyy
I'm not able to send sms from SIM 1 but can send sms from SIM 2 in Lenovo A6020a46 (2GB) on Lineage 14.1 (31.07.2017).
The same SIM is working good in another roms and Calling + Internet are working properly.
After dialing *#*#4636#*#* in Phone Information - SMSC Refresh then it appeared "Phone no.", 456 and I pressed Update.
But there was no process for saving or updating. Then I reentered in Phone Information but SMSC Shows blank.
What to do??? anybody help in this matter will be immensely appreciated.

I made this file using Odin with the steps from here. I flashed the file, set the connection to LTE aand it worked. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71582847&postcount=5908
To fix this issue with having LTE signal and sending SMS at the same time you have to open EnginneringMode app (or *#*#3646663#*#*) and check 'Sms over Sgs support' in Misc Feature Config tab.
Doesn't work because nothing comes up entering the code. Any idea?

If that code doesn't work for you, try to find an app called Engineering Mode MTK. Unfortunately I cannot attach any screenshots yet (I got less than 10 posts).
fix
there is an option in network settings (enhanced 4G LTE mode for comunications etc) i disabled that option and messaging works fine now. before unchecking this option i could only send sms only with phone on 3g mode, now it works fine. i think this option is for hd voice calls via 4g lte.
I see this is an old problem and I´m having the same problem. I can receive SMS, but I can´t send.
But to add to that, I couldn´t connect at all with my previous carrier and changed carrier after which I can use data, call and send SMS. I still can´t receive SMS.
Phone seems spotty with cellular features. I can't download group sms, mms or photos. Everything else seems to work fine. Connected to Lte. Have already tried all the messaging setting pertaining to how I receive and download texts.
Any thoughts on this? I'm on AT&T and they are decomming the phone so it could definitely be related to that.
Talk to AT&T advance tech support.
Maybe related to your Access Point Names under mobile connections in settings.
Try a network reset.
