I just installed Frnaco Kernel 32 build..
when i opened up the app thats also by him i found that the maximum frequency of my all four cores was 1.5ghz ??
can someone please clarify that?
besides is the 'hotplug' setting set to ON by default or we have to change it?
and if i dont make any changes at all just install the kernel,will it make any difference in the way the CPU works?
I am more than satisfied with the way the Nexus works on stock just a little more customization and screen color tuning is all i seek for!
PS i have been through the thread its a long one i did read quite a few but since i am new this query of mine may be stupid enough to even be there so posting it here!

Is it? Maybe. Thought it was just under 2.3 but I don't have stock frequencies so I was going off what I thought was "memory"

Yes for sure
This is rounded up for 2,3 Ghz, 2,26 or 2,29 Ghz won't make a big difference. In the Nexus 5 I think it's 2.26.
EDIT: I have 2,26 Ghz in stock kernel

Chaos Kernel. Comes with NXT to tweak to your liking, there are also preset profiles that are very nice. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2551441

if using the Original Romracer kernel....there is no over clocking or undervolting. so the only thing you can really change is the scaling.
so if you want speed, set it to preformance which will force both cpus on line AT ALL TIMES. but will drain the batter faster other than that. there is not much you can do with a stock kernel. which is what romracers kernel is.

Hi,
I'm on TPC V3 with Da_G 0.43 Kernel.
I've one profile in SetCpu which is "screen off: max 192 min 192 with smartassv2 governor". I'm a light user and my record is fifty hours with a battery life.
I can't say if SetCPU has a lot to do with this but the smartassv2 governor helped a lot for sure.
I am rooted with the stock ROM and find that setcpu makes my phone lag more with Faux Kernel. When I delete the app, everything runs much more smoothly.

Try using FauxClock with his kernel, it's an app designed for his kernel specifically, and works great.
I'm at 1.2GHz (battery life) with a 87.5mV underclock on all steps, runs like a bauss.
I will admit, Da_G's kernel is miles ahead when it comes to performance, but it SoD's way too much on my phone, unfortunately.
What app can i use best to undervolt my cpu and does anyone have the best values.
Im on the Cleanrom Inheritance with clemsyns universal kernel @ 1.8 Ghz
System Tuner might be able to help you with that... I'm quite not sure what's the best values though...

Usually it's the other way round - too little voltage makes the system unstable.
What undervolting have people got set with what set up that's still safe and stable... How low can you actually go on the nexus 5?
For example... I'm currently...
Rom: stock with some apps removed
Runtime: ART
User style: just phone and Internet browsing, no games really ever
Kernel: linaro version of franco's
Kernel Settings: stock min and max frequency - 61 vibration amp setting.
Undervolt: - 50 across the board

All undervolting is safe. Just not necessarily stable. Varies for everyone (and evey CPU is different) so not sure this thread will help you.

-50 is the best I can get without the phone freezing and rebooting.
I run at 975mV 2.2GHz, that's PVS3. Think that's pretty good.

OK, first of all I'd like to apologise for all the questions I keep posting. Im quite a noob with android, and coming from an iPhone, it's been a big leap. I've Underclocked before, but now I wanna Terry out some heavy emulators (dolphin emulator, Nintendo 64 emulator ect.) But I don't think my phone is powerful enough to run these games full speed underclocked... I want to OVERclock it now, so which apps do I need to achieve this, how do I do it, and what are the most effective values for it?

The kernel defines whether or not you can overclock.
There is no real need to in the nexus 5 though.
If it is choppy at 2.3ghz then there is something wrong with the emulator.
In context I play final fantasy 9 on the psx emulator fpse using opengl graphics (which is limited to single core) and still get a constant 60fps

Hi,
First you need a kernel with overclock (Franciscofranco, Trinity, ElementalX, etc...).
For the apps Franciscofranco have its own app (Francsico Kernel Updater-> FKU) and Trinity kernel also (Trinity Kernel Toolbox-> TKT), all available on the Play Store.
You can use a "generic" app like Trickster Mod, Play store too.
With the apps you choose your max CPU freq and it's done...
For overclocking there is no "most effective value" it depends of the voltage and what your CPU can handle. 2,4/2,5 Ghz seems reasonable (with some kernels you can go above like 2,8 Ghz).
Try a "safe" overclock first like 2,4/2,5 Ghz, and don't set the CPU freq "at boot" to avoid any problem like bootloop in case your CPU can't handle these freqs.
Maybe you'll need to raise a bit the voltage for these CP freqs, it depends of your CPU binning.
You can apply your settings at boot via the app when you are sure that all is stable (so after a few days of test with your use).
In any case you'll need to test in different situations to see if all is fine (hard and normal use)...

I've Underclocked and it's choppy, but I know it's not the emulators fault because of the reviews, and I've played with it before I Underclocked... The problem is, I forgot how I Underclocked, so can you tell me how I clock it back to stock GHz?

Try with your undervolt...

All I can see in FKU is Max CPU frequency (960MHz), min (422MHz) and GPU frequency (320MHz) under GPU control... What do I tinker with to get it to 2.4GHz?

You only see this CPU freq? Maybe your phone is actually to hot and the CPU freq is decreased?
"Click" on Max CPU freq then scroll down to see all the CPU freqs...

Hum... you choose the one you want, you want to overclock so overclock. The stock CPU freq is 2,26 Ghz so if you go above this freq you overclock...
Maybe it's why "But I don't think my phone is powerful enough to run these games", like you said, if your max CPU freq was at 960 Mhz...?
Default the stock max freq will be 2260 MHz or 2.26ghz depending on how it's displayed.
I'd leave your undervolt as it is for now and just increase the max frequency and see if it becomes smooth for what you need

I know that my phone is fast enough (obviously, it's a nexus 5 beast!), and I know that I lowered my CPU frequencies, but it's just that I forgot what the defaults were, and how to change it. I know now, thanks you guys! P.S should I change my min frequency or is that fine?

Ah ok, you should have explained it at the beginning... , you're welcome
Stock min CPU freq is 300 Mhz..., not sure you'll see any gain to set it to 422 Mhz...
Set it again at 300 Mhz and see...
In any case if sometimes you have a doubt about some stock settings, disable the set on boot option and reboot, all the stocks settings will go back. Or in FKU, App settings then clear data for FKU.

It might help to increase battery life as well
The amount you can safely undervolt on most devices will achieve you nothing in real life terms. U might achieve a bit cooler running but you're probably talking like 1-2 degrees

AndroPlus kernel works fine with undervolting, I was able to undervolt my Z5 by -300mv on all frequencies

People do it mostly because of heat, not battery.

Download kernel adiutor, open it, give it root access, then swipe from the left side of the screen to access the options, go to cpu voltage, it will present you with the Little and Big frequencies, tap on any frequency to change its value to your liking and do note that 700mv is the lowest voltage you can set to every frequency.
