Help with Moto G bootloader unlock keygen - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Wouldn't it be nice to have a keygen to unlock the bootloader without obtaining the key from motorola?
I have been investgating the relationship between the bootloader return code and unlock key and have discovered the following:
Note: For security I have replaced my IMEI and serial number, all other numbers are real. I'm not sure if anyone else has had a go at this but found nothing on XDA.
Code:
fastboot oem get_unlock_data
1A23457698214365#54413839303042
42443700585431303332000000#140A
858731D55F3B5DF78F0F6BB9EAE32A2
B8945#3D372B020F000000000000000
0000000
If I use the # character as a separator I get:
Code:
1A23457698214365
5441383930304242443700585431303332000000
140A858731D55F3B5DF78F0F6BB9EAE32A2B8945
3D372B020F0000000000000000000000
Line 1: With the exception of the 2nd character 'A' inserted, these characters are my IMEI number re-arranged a little.
The last 5 pairs of digits are swapped so an IMEI of 123456789123456 converts to 1A23457698214365
Line 2: Converting this line from hex to ascii gives me TA8900BBD7XT1032
This is serial and model number with a 00 byte as a spacer and 3 filler at the end.
Line 4: This is my bootloader UID (obtained from 'fastboot getvar uid' command)
Lines 1&2&4 I suspect have no relationship whatsoever with the unlock key.
Probably used to validate and log you on the motorola server when you request the unlock key, ultimately serving the purpose of voiding the warranty.
Line 3: Coincidence? Could this 20 byte string be relative to the 20 byte unlock key via some simple algorithm assuming lazy programming and/or limited space for code in the bootloader hardware? I couldnt tie this number to anything on my phone so I am guessing this code is derived from the unlock code during the 'fastboot oem get_unlock_data' command.
I tried online with varied IMEI and serials in the code and also using original values but with varied numbers in line 3 but could not get another unlock code. I don't think I can progress without more examples.
This was my unlock code: W4ZUEO2TZALOGJJWPRMO
Converted to hex: 57345A55454F32545A414C4F474A4A5750524D4F
Code:
So somehow 140A858731D55F3B5DF78F0F6BB9EAE32A2B8945
becomes 57345A55454F32545A414C4F474A4A5750524D4F
Could possibly involve the UID in the equation but I wouldn't bother if I were writing the bootloader and if so, then why have line 3 anyway?
I tried, a few sums but now I have a headache so I return to my life assisted by alcohol. Surely the solution has to be simple. Just thought I would post and see if anyone else could pick up from where I left off.
Have fun.......

I love the idea. I didn't unlock my phone because of the warranty but if we can find a way to unlock without allow Motorola to know it, it would be great...

Great thread. Hope in something of new

I can confirm that the first is the IMEI somehow swapped and an A added; the second one is the serial number with the model.

Certainly would help us Verizon Moto G users who currently are stuck with locked bootloaders :/

Please, someone figure this out!

Help required!
What is needed is more examples. If people post the line 3 and unlock code in hex, then the problem can be solved. Unless you are the kid from mercury rising or rain man, the best that can be acheived with only one example is a headache. Trust me!

Those of you that have unlocked, please provide the required info. Maybe we need a new thread title to draw the atttention of those already unlocked.
"Request: Unlocked? Share your info here" etc..

Really nice that someone is trying to hack the bootloader protection. I intend to root my phone one day, but I am reluctant to use the official way because of warranty issues.

Same here. I was actually surprised to learn about this when I got this phone. I unlocked my Nexus 7 and assumed (my mistake) that I wouldn't have to get the manufacturer involved to unlock the bootloader.

Hope in some help from devs really

hey, i'm looking forward to this, actually i come from a device that had a locked bootloader but i could root it just with an exploit made with ics. maybe if someone finds an exploit in jellybean we will be able to root our phones but, that will be difficult

Hi.
Code:
My line 3: 5D0E47A39BBB9DA7B9632E8C19BD2873B018B7BA
My unlock code in hex: 4B415947324C4A424B454E414654573256544A45
I think of the possibility that all data used.
I am not an expert on algorithms, but the lines 1 2 3 and 4 are 64 bytes (whitout the #), groups of 8 or 16 bytes required for any algorithm.
The SHA1 with 64 bytes return 20 bytes hex the result.

Your English writing skills are better than many individuals from English speaking countries.
Thanks for your input. Hopefully, the people with the right skills can solved the problem.

Even if a keygen of sorts is created, won't the unlock still be flagged in the bootloader?

it would but you might be able to remove this flag and as long as motorola dont know that you have unlocked the bootloader all would be fine

Maybe it's need some help also from devs i think..

It's not an easy way. Some eMMC have command to write-protect some areas (temporary, or permanently). But these eMMC commands usually are not presented in source code of kernel because there are no practical reasons to use them (unless you are original manufacturer). So, you need to detect what eMMC chip used in your phone, then find good datasheet to find appropriate command (if any). Then write utility to execute this command (and if you write protect a wrong block then there is no way back).
Thus, you need to be a skilled low-end developer to accomplish this task.
If you mean lock like it's done in phones with locked bootloader - then it's completely different story. In this case, write-protect-till-power-off lock used. So, when such phone boots, whole eMMC is available for writing. And then on the very early stage bootloader executes command write-protect-till-power-off, and you can't write anything to bootloader till you turn power off. If you want to accomplish this behaviour then you have to write your own bootloader, which is not simpler than task above. More over, you won't be able to write your own bootloader because it requires to be signed by private master key, which only Samsung lab has

Help guys !! I can't unlock my bootloader (XT1541)

Hello guys..
I own the XT1541 model, i purchased it about a month ago from amazon.de and i've been wanting to root the phone since i laid my hands on it, after doing a lot of research on rooting, its advantages and risks, I still want to root it anyways.
The problem is that i applied all of the pre-rooting steps for bootloader unlocking such as allowing OEM unlocking and USB debugging and then I booted into recovery mode and performed the "fastboot oem get_unlock_data" command to get a serial number that i inserted into the corresponding box in the requested way and accepted all the terms and conditions but It still gives me an error telling me that my device is not eligible for bootloader unlocking even though i've lots of videos of people unlocking the same model i have and succeeding >.<
Can anyone help me with this ? I've seen a lot of people on XDA succeeding in unlocking the bootloader and rooting the exact same model i have (XT1541)

Hello there,
You have to register your phone to Motorola ID, otherwise Motorola doesn't give your unlock code. Boot to your normal rom, go to "Settings" and look for something like "Motorola Device ID". I had the exactly same problem.
Cheers
Hi,
I have the same issue, I've tried all advises I've found on net:
1. I have checked multiple times that there are no spaces in string that I pase into motorola web page
2. I have tried using motorla Data Scrub Tool - also no success
3. I've tried Chrome, Firefox and Edge
4. I've tried subscribing & unsubscribing from Moto ID
Nothing worked
my CID is 0x0007 so according to h t t p s://forums.motorola.com/posts/35e4d3be5c?page=52 (sorry, I can't post URLs yet ) it should be unlockable
In the last post I see the motorola is moving to lenovo servers, so I hope this is temporary issue

Root status via IMEI

Hi. Quick query for a mate.
He's having issues with his Moto G and is in to email with support.
They're totally giving him the run around and have gone as far as to tell him he's out of luck due to being rooted.
Now he's not stupid but he has no idea what rooting is and has definitely never rooted his phone. He has updated to 6.0 via OTA but that's it.
Support have suggested they know his root status through checking his IMEI number....is that even possible??
Long-winded question I know, maybe even better placed in another forum but I've asked now so...
Anyone clue me in?
Cheers
Malc
I am not sure about what I am gonna say but ,i think its probably possible. Because before being able to root, the phone bootloader has to be unlocked first; and unlocking is done by submitting a device specific code to moto website, and then getting a return code and then enter that code with the command
fastboot oem unlock <code>. So it is entirely possible that they have designed the device codes (which we submit to unlock) that they could be matched up with the imei number of that device. In this way, even if you do not unlock actually, they can see that you have got your unlock code and they can blame you.
BUT, this whole theory fails as you say your friend is not aware of rooting. Now extraction of the device specific code remotely is reasonably not possible without physical interaction with the phone itself. So here is an actual way you can check-
Power off the device, then press and hold simultaneously power button+Volume down button until a screen appears. It should say fastboot mode. Check the bootloader status; It should say LOCKED and software status OFFICIAL. (Also a status number will be there, can't remember exactly but it has to be 0 or 1).
If this matches with your device, congratulations, the device is not tempered and the support guys are probaby idiots (no offence here if unlock code was indeed requested).
BTW, question seems cool!

I was goin to say to him about the power+volume button but he is hopeless. I'll probably do it for him instead.
Defo no rooting/unlock, seems like it's Motorola not wanting to help him fix his phone...stay tuned ?
Moto checks the IMEI against a database, if it has ever had an unlock token issued, the warranty is void. Doesn't matter if it was actually unlocked, rooted, or not.

Speaking about Google Pixel SIM LOCK

Hello people I would like to open this post to share my experience with you to try to figure out how to sim unlock the pixel.
We all realized that it's impossibile to unlock it just changin rom or the modem or radio ecc... But still I'm pretty sure that is not an hardware lock.
I'm pretty sure that it's the IMEI the point, our lock. ( We are not thief, I'm just speaking as information, for example I need to stay two months in italy and I would like to be free, as most of the android's users. )
I realized that the menus from the diag menù in the telephone are locked. If you will try to digit some code they gonna be null.
So I tried to open my port to use " QPST "( a software for QUALCOMM chipset ) to make a backup of it.
To open the diag port I used this command on the terminal of my phone " su " and than "setprop sys.usb.config diag, adb".
After it I make the .qnc backup and I open it with an HEX editor to find my IMEI CODE. ( If you got lost google this procedure using QPST and an HEX editor to find you imei code and changing it ).
After getting my .qnc modified with my new IMEI CODE I just restore it into my phone. The software said that the restoring was complet but actually the IMEI still the same.
So I tried to just make NULL my IMEI in this way : ADB via computer digiting : "ADB SHELL" , " SU " , ls -al /dev/block/platform/soc/624000.ufshc/by-name ".
Than you'll have a list. You need to find " modemst1 " " modemst2 " " fsg" .
Zeroing those digint the command : "dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/sd" Putting at the end the last two lecters/number that you find at the end of the string " modemst1-2 and fsg " .
Than what I realized. Was working for the modems but not for the "fsg" . Accessed denied.
So my last think is that the chipset of the pixel is very protected and it's going to be very difficult to change the IMEI code and I ( I repeat the I THINK ) unlocking the sim lock it will not going to be possibile without changing this code.
Let me know please what do you think about,
Regards,
An old nexus lover and pixel user.
Changing an IMEI is illegal and not allowed to be discussed in these forums.
The pixel is never SIM locked. Meaning your phone is either stolen or has been blacklisted by your carrier and other carriers. Discussion of workarounds are not tolerated on this site.

I certainly understand if XDA does not allow discussions on changing the IMEI, however, are you sure it's illegal? I can't find a written law that states it is. I believe they tried to pass a law but I don't think if ever made it through committee. I agree, if this is being done for nefarious reasons then discussions should be banned. But if I own 2 devices and one is broken, what would be illegal to use the one from the broken device on my new device? For instance, I bought 2 Pixel phones, one Verizon and one from Google. I dropped the Google version and it's unusable. The Verizon Pixel is bootloader locked due to the IMEI. Why couldn't I change the IMEI so that I could unlock the VZW Pixel? Would I do it? No, not on a bet. But illegal, I'm not so sure.
Bootloader lock is not a SIM Lock. If it's for sure illegal to change an IMEI, I'm not sure. Either way, it's against the XDA terms due to the legality of it.
Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
I figured it was against XDA rules.
Mate my phone is my one no problem I'm just speaking as information nothing else, just want to be free to know as every android user
And yes the pixel from EE carrier is sim locked and I would like to unlock it to use my own sim while i'm outside the U.K. to not spend bilions of pound with roaming data pack, that's my point.
By the way I realized one very important thing:
Modemst1 and modemst2 partition are readable and writable, but partiotion FSG is just readable that's why you cannot zero it or restore the .qnc file to change the code.
I realized that our EE pixel , or maybe every pixel , have the soc locked.
If you look at the same soc in some xiaomi they can zero the fsg partition because is writable aswell.
So my question is, anyone knows how to change permission of those partition?

Can you elaborate on this a bit more? What other steps are there, or is this all you needed to do and it popped up as a device?
I'm trying to get the Pixel diag port connected (for QPST/QXDM) and can't figure out how to turn it on. I tried the command above and nothing exciting happened. Typically, on other phones, it shows up in the device manager and I just have to manhandle the driver into place but the Pixel diag port isn't appearing for me still.

i would say Don't use Funky Huawei do rebrand job as well
So, is there a way which doesn't change the unlock code?
Already thinking getting the P20 was a total mistake.

USE XDA method----u can use the origial code unlock again/
use funky hauwei method----u have no ideas to unlock again in this moment.
i sent them 3 emails, they didnt answer this question, i think they know their method have problem of it.
About 1 mounth ago I transform my P20 Pro from single to dual sim with FunkyHuawei method. All gone well at first time ! And my phone handles and works with both sim, also in 4G!
They said me at once that after the procedure the bootloader will be blocked again and, for now, I can't unblock it with the old Huawei Key.
So no root and no TWRP.
They say me that in the future I'll can install Recovery and root the phone with a new tool, also with blocked bootloader .
Also I must say that FunkyHuawei method it's easier that do all by hand ! But, obviously, it costs a lot !

Can you say me the model and the firmware of your phone before and after rebrand ?
Before rebrand to dual sim your phone was C432 (international version) or what ?
Which version you use to rebrand? Always C432 (international version)?
This is important to know why some version have given problem to users .

I was single sim uk version CLT-L09 C782 and i rebranded to dual CLT-L29 C782.
Hello, I just put a claim in Paypal (I encourage people to do so), based on the fact that they have not notified the terminal block, once the change from singel to dual sim and attaching the direct instructions for the use of his tool, in which he does not notice, in any case, of that circumstance.
My model was the L09 and now it's the L29 (in both the European c432 version).
My claim in Paypal is that, by not telling the buyer of the terminal block and it is impossible (according to them) to find the new code, any problem can no longer go through the Huawei Technical Service (SAT) but for them and charging one and again.
I wanted to ask you if you know if using the Huawei PC tool we would return it to the original state (with the original unlock code, which would be useful in this case), to me the Samsung utilities (kies) saved me more than once .
Thank you very much.

i tried use the origianl code from huawei--------------FAIL

FAILED (remote: check password failed!)
finished. total time: 4.516s
use dc-unlocker...read code ----------------FAIL
Reading bootloader code...
unknown error (405)
how i can get my bootloader unlock again?
And fastboot oem get-psid IMEI ,IMEI1,MEID were changed!!!!
======================================================
NOW i'm warning anybody don't use funkyhuawei to rebrand your phone !!!
The result is same as using xda method , unless you don't need to PAY and locked your bootloader again.

Just got email back from huawei theyve given me the same code as before. I have responded by asking them to generate a new one.
To the post above, they do clearly state the bootloader code will change. And if you use the xda method apparently it can still be changed etc.
Hmmm
More on the bootloader code. The first time i rebranded i rebranded to CLTL29 but used the wrong tool and didnt use the actual dual converter.
When i used the dual converter having to use my bootloader code again, it did actually work.
Maybe it was luck i dont know but i still have 5 credits and would need 2 more to rebrand to c432 they ignored my email asking if they could credit me with 2 credits as I have already spent nearly £50 and the minimum I can buy is 5.
New email from huawei saying they have requested a new bootloader code for me. Fingers crossed.
The same happened to me: Huawei gave me the same code. Could you give me the Huawei contact email? Thank you very much. And good luck with the new code.

Huawei will always provide you with the same code, based on the original IMEI.
Try booting in fastboot and use this command : fastboot oem get-psid
If it works, it should return IMEI and Serial info, compare those with the ones from the retail box. ?
Thank you very much, I will compare it, although the IMEI does not change, I do not know what it will be for but it is a step forward.
My idea, after seeing that the Hisuite applications have nothing to do with the Samsung KIes (these are a lot better and if they leave your computer the same as the first day you bought it - I can certify it with my old Samsung Galaxy S3- ), is to wait for dc-unlocker to support our terminal and then re-unlock it.
Of funkey I do not expect anything, unless you charge us everything you can in case of "disaster" of our mobile.

IMEI is not changed in the OS (About Screen), but if it's the same case as the rebrand with FH for Mate 10 Pro, then most likely that fastboot command will reveal a different IMEI.
If that's the case, then probably the only way to make the unlock code work is to restore your original oeminfo.
We've been lucky with Mate 10, because DC-Unlocker works, so we could get another unlock code for 4 €, but that doesn't work on P20.
