WOL for Android and Proxy for ethernet - Android General

Hi
I have an Android box running 4.2.2 ICS
Just wondered, I would like to be able to remotely wake it from a sleep state with a PC (similar to a PC wake on lan command) - had a search but cant find anything, is there such a thing available?
Also, it has an ethernet port that I would like to use to connect to the outside world via a proxy but there are no proxy settings for the ethernet. Setting the proxy in the WiFi dosnt work for ethernet and the apps I've tried (proxy droid etc) only work with WiFi connections too. Anyone found a solution to this please?
Any help gratefully received
Cheers

WIFI connected but no internet

I live in India. I had purchased a new TP LINK wifi + modem router last week. The modem works great as I access internet using my PC ( ethernet connection broadband) . I tried connecting WIFI using my android, but even when connected I don't get internet on my device.
Help me. Here are some screenshots of my modem settings page ( when my android galaxy mini is "connected to wifi, (no internet though))
Status :See my android phone in list of wifi connected clients
And in that WAN tab, why that PVC0 status is down??
In LAN settings photo modem shows my device android connected to modem, but still no internet.
Please anybody who can help me. Anything wrong with wireless modem settings? Please suggest.
Anyone please?

Reverse tethering using laptops wifi and usb question

I have a GT-p3113 7.0 running 4.1.1 stock and rooted. I have been trying to connect to my laptops hotspot using wifi. I can create the connection and connect with an IP, however no shared internet. I used the CMD prompt to create the hostednetwork then share my lan connection.
> netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid="name of connection" key="password"
Share the connection from setting in the control panel then start it up.
>netsh wlan start hostednetwork
I can connect with an assigned IP but no internet.
So... while I am "connected" I used the USB reverse tether app with the tunnel local app and connect to the internet. and yes I can no connect to Gplay and download from most app sites with no problem because I do have an active wifi connection... just not using it to get to the site..
Can't use https , not sure why yet. or if it is even possible.
But I would like to be able to use my wifi connection if at all possible... does anyone know a way to do this? I do not want to use Conectify as it tells me to unistall my vzaccess ( I can't ) I have a 4g wireless card for my laptop. also tried virtual router, same thing.. connects, gets ip, but no internet. Has anybody been able to get around this? or do you think it is just my work network. I want to use this when I travel an am in a hotel but don't want to carry around another piece of hardware for a hotspot.
Thanks

[Q] Connect to OpenVPN + pem certificate + tap device

I want to connect my android device (nexus 7 2013) to an openvpn server which is not administrated by me, meaning I have no access on the configuration.
On my windows7-pc, I do this with the windows version of openvpn, the provided settings file for the openvpn server and the also provided pem-certificate.
Since the server uses the tap device of openvpn, alternative clients like openvpn for android by arne schwabe[1] don't work (this app doesn't support tap).
Since I don't have a private key file (*.key), I cannot generate a p12-file[2] which could be imported by the official openvpn app[3].
The pem-fileformat is compatible to *.cer and *.crt, meaning, I can simply change the file extension to "convert" them. The crt-file can be imported by the android systems (security -> import), but this doesn't help openvpn as it seems to only use it's own certificates.
Any suggestions on how to achieve a successful connection?

i think if you have ICS_P740AV1.0.0B07 + you can't find open hot spot and if you can see you can't connect.
Try to make one hostop secured with wpa2 and try it.

Whoa, i only understand half of it
I have android 4.3 JSS15Q rooted with flo (?). I have superSU and Busybox installed. I followed the default instructions of the nexus root toolkit. My wifi is connected for sure, but it has blocked ports (which is the reason for all this). However, since I'm failing at an earlier stage, and, since it works from my pc from the same network with the same openvpn on the same ports I suppose the error is not in the network settings...
The wifi i'm connected to has wpa2+pkip etc. but I'm not sure how this is relevant...
rom

I have stock android rooted. I only have wifi and the connection works perfectly, I tried rebooting the device, I consider this counts as "dis/enable airplane mode". I have good wifi signal strength.
I have no issues accessing websites over port 80/443, only the blocked ports don't work. The openvpn server is reachable on port 443 (it works from my pc).
Hello,
did you ever manage to solve this? I'm looking to configure my nexus 7 2013 to connect to an OpenVPN server using TAP and it doesn't seem to be working. I'm using OpenVPN settings with certificate-based authentification. I'm able to connect to my server, however I don't get a local IP address assigned and when I browse the internet, my IP is still showing up as from the original connection instead of the VPN endpoint. Computers with windows 7 can connect to the server no-problem and all their traffic is directed to the tunnel. Any ideas for guides and walkthroughs?
Thanks. Any help is very much appreciated.

Ethernet tethering

Hi looking to resolve a problem that I can't find an answer to by using Google
I have a tablet running android 11 and have connected a USB c to Ethernet adapter. I have activated wifi and the tablet connects to my local office network. I have activated Ethernet tethering and plugged in a LAN cable to the adapter and the external device (ASIC computer).
The tablet is basically being used to provide wifi connectivity for the device.
I can log into the dashboard and it shows that the ASIC computer is connected and all is working normally BUT I have not found a way to log into the device.... mainly because I have not found a way to locate it's IP address.
I want to be able to configure the firmware on the device from the tablet. It is possible to do this by connecting the device to the router via a lan cable. I then find the IP address on my PC, but I would like to also use the tablet. Thanks
Here is a link to show the set up: https://photos.app.goo.gl/iFsKNWniz2DiDpHD7
Bumped! still trying to get an answer....
