Someone could definetly tell me if the magnet of some flip covers is dangerous for my nexus 5?
They're designed for it. That's why it has "hall effect" so magnets can turn screen on and off.
Also big ring round camera is magnetised....

Anybody know what the case shown in this video here is, or where to get it?

At 0.06 when he opens it up you can see 'D3O' on the inside of the cover.
That is a nice case.

That looks amazing! I always missed my blackberry for auto turning on/off when you put it in/out of the holster. I thought that was some sort of patented hardware feature because nothing other than the ipad smart cover does anything similar. Want this case badly! Anyone know where to buy?
Nexus 7 has magnetic sleep/wake, but I have run magnets all over the Nexus 4 and have not found a spot where it sleeps so I don't know how this is working in this video.
Perhaps they are using an app that is using the proximity sensor?
Possible leak of a Tech21 Impact Snap w/ Cover? Seems like it to me. Check out videos for the SGS3 and iphone 5, very similar.
If a D30 case comes out for the N4, I will most likely snag one. That seems like a pretty nifty case. It seems that he may be using an app that uses the phone's proximity sensor to turn the phone on and off when it's covered. I used to use that app when I had the N1 and HD2. It works like a charm, but uses a lot of battery.
That's a nice case. Been looking for a clean looking flip case myself.
I'm very interested in this. It's the only kind of case that intrigues me at all.
I'm guessing it's the d3o case for the gs3. It fits, but the button placement is a touch off, and you have 2 extra holes on the back.

Hi folks,
This may seem like a daft question, but sadly I obsess about such things.
I just noticed that when my headphones are plugged into my Nexus 5, the plug isn't vertical - it is angled slightly to the left. In other words, it does not sit dead vertically when compared to the phone.
I'd appreciate knowing whether other people's are the same or whether my headphone socket hasn't been fitted properly.
Any feedback gratefully received!
Cheers.
Mine does look to be just a tiny bit slanted to the left. Never would have noticed it otherwise. Don't think it's an issue. But I'm sure someone will be filling an RMA because of it. :silly:
It's obviously that way because of the curve the phone has at the top. Headphone jack is just perpendicular to the surface.

It's normal in my opinion.

normal. slight left slanted. could be a problem for making an all encompassing waterproof case with a headphone screw adapter like the lifeproof case though, So this slight canted design does have disadvantages....
Hi I read in a post on here that the camera on our device is magnetic and can have attachments. Can anyone link me to where I can find these? I haven't been able to find them. And are they worth it?

The lens is magnetic. But not intended for the magnetic add on lenses. I have the photojojo lenses and the magnetic attraction to the N5 camera is very weak at best. Although, they fit perfectly, but they also affect the cameras ability to focus dramatically. If you use the metal rings included they stick on very strong, but then the adhesive on the metal rings doesn't stick well to the glass over the Camera sensor.
EDIT: Should add that when you use the metal rings included, the phone is able to focus almost as good as it normally would.

If I run magnet over my Nexus 5, I can unlock the screen exactly like I can if I run it over my nexus 7 2013. Is that a feature ? I don't see any flip cover doing anything about it, although the hall effect sensor is listed in its sensors.

Those cases do exist, I saw one the other day. I forgot if it was on Ebay or Amazon but the screen would auto on/off when you flip the case. Its not an official case though. Ill see if I could find it again

The one.... You know.... From Google.... You didn't look very hard did you.
Yes, the official Google Quick Flip cover for the Nexus 5 ( https://play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=lg_nexus_5_case_black these, for those who are confused) does have a magnet inside. It unlocks/locks the phone when opened/closed.
I use a tetded flipcase with a magnet inside the cover. Just to clarify that: The magnet will not unlock the phone. The magnet turns the display on and off.

Mine will arrive Wednesday.

Hello,
Typically I just use my phones in the nude, but with my oneplus one I did enjoy occasionally using the OEM folio case in orange. I really do like my 6p, but its about the slipperiest thing I own (opo ruined me with that grippy housing) and it feels delicate. Does anyone know of a folio style case that can also reinforce the phones structure(so I can finally stick it in my pocket without worrying about bending)?
This is what I had for my opo

I'd be interested in this too, if it isn't too thick.
Google do sell an official folio case BUT I've heard many horror stories about it being far too tight on the phone and extremely difficult to remove, to the point of breaking the phone.

Does this case have a magnet to keep the flap closed? And does it put the phone to sleep or wake it up?
This is on my short list. I had seen it on Amazon
Unfortunately no to both of those. No magenta to keep it closed ( hate that). And nothing to put it to sleep. Wish it did have that tho. But I mostly care about keeping the screen protected and I hate face grease so lol

The valkyrie does have magnets to keep it closed BUT no magnet for wakeup/sleep function. The phone easily snaps into a tpu case that is sandwiched between a wrap-around cover, like a book, which gives it protection from both sides.
But I ultimately sent the valkyrie back because there are no holes for the front speakers/mics (the mics are in the speaker pits). This means you have to keep the cover opened to talk. And I just learned recently that if you try to be clever and flip the cover to the back, it will cover the rear-mic and that messes up the noise cancellation and makes you sound muffled. So you now have to talk on the phone holding it like an opened book.
I was seriously considering drilling speaker/mic holes and splicing in a magnet into the cover. But then I found this from tetded. It has a magnet for sleep/wakeup and speaker/mic holds. BUT no magnet to keep it closed and the cover doesn't extend to the back so the back is not as protected as the front. It also costs more since it's real leather.
I bought mine directly from the tetded site and it will ship from hong kong. They have other models for the 6p and some even come with a nice clasp to keep the cover closed, but no speaker/mic holes (why!!?)
