Dynamic F-Sync
This is a goodie by faux123, so all credits go to him for creating this unique feature !
Many kernels just disable synchronous writes to file to speed up system. While this works neatly, it is also dangerous as processes believe that file writes are actually synced to disk (or mmc media in our case) while this is not yet true ! The gain is a noticeably smoother user experience, but the risk of doing so is to have a corrupted filesystem if the device crashes, user pulls battery, battery fully depletes ... so that the device is turned off unexpectedly. To allow for the benefit, but to minimize the risk, faux123 created dynamic fsync, which while the screen is on, will defer file sync temporarily, but when screen gets turned off, a flush is called to synchronize all outstanding writes keeping your data safe.
SLIMBus OverClocked
This means SLIMbus will use its maximum potential to give the best audio quality for the hardware. Takes advantage of both hardware and the mods from zeroinfinity, also opening the door for more things that were previously limited by this. Researched and experimented by ZeroInfinity and Poondog

ok...So far everything seems to be running smoothly except a couple things
d2vzw using PA GApps full modular
1. Play Store wont load...It just sits with the spinner going...Ive had it sitting on this screen for 20 minutes...tried clearing data and and reopening but no change
2. Contacts synced but no pictures
3. Some kind of sync error with Calendar
Didnt check much else cuz i needed to restore a backup due to needing to access certain apps that I couldnt download because of the Play Store issues

All the data issues have been fixed, exfat.zip is only needed now if you have a sd card formatted in exfat.
although it has improved, still having battery charging animation issues on the circle and dotted

Ok, so here's something weird. I have installed the latest build and PA Gapps, when I install the PA Gapps, then reboot it has uninstalled, messaging, browser, and launcher. I then have to pull the apk's from this zipped liquid ROM and install them manually by placing in the system folders. TiBu won't even reinstall them. Anyone run into this?

Phone would not install apps from market at first. The phone rebooted a couple times today on its own, afterwards that apps installed. Other than that no problems here. Did a clean install with Full Modular. Great ROM!

This is a kernel, not a full ROM... please use AOKP, MIUI4, or CM9 with this...
Atarashii - New/Fresh - This kernel was made to revolutionize what all of the current 'normal' Epic kernels have. I have added in tweaks and mods that were never before seen on the Epic, long forgotten, and from other devices such as the Nexus S and i9000.
Hopefully (probably) most other kernel developers will implement these new features and help keep the Epic current.
I prefer that you use NSTools to overclock and undervolt and do other tweaks. It is more featured than Voltage Control and this kernel supports it better. Voltage Control works fine too but I recommend uninstalling all cpu tools you have and installing NSTools.
I am not responsible to ANYTHING that happens to you or your phone as a result of using this kernel. Most things in this are experimental to a point but have been tested and confirmed safe.
Some of these features have NEVER been used before on the Epic, so don't expect everything that you are used to. Things can and will be different than usual.
Feature List
Voodoo Sound v10 by Supercurio
Voodoo Color by Supercurio
Optimized compiler flags by netarchy and Ezekeel

Misc. bugfixes
Battery Life eXtender (BLX) v1 by Ezekeel
OS tools compiled with O3
Swappiness set to 10 from 60 (Rodderik)
Voodoo mDNIe (keeps text sharp and backgrounds don't look like crap)
Defconfig tweaks
Overclocking (no need for enabling crap in Voltage Control)
Undervolting both via Voltage Control and NSTools (Ezekeel & nubecoder)
Tweaked ondemand
Tweaked conservative
Optimized SIO
Optimized deadline
Added TINY_PREEMPT_RCU
Added optimized CRC32 algorithm
Optimized ARM RWSEM algorithm
JHash 3
Added SLQB memory allocator
Add 3 Button Reboot
Increase default readahead to 1024kB
Voodoo Color defaults that do not suck
Allow CPU-supported unaligned accesses
Some SD/MMC tweaks (might reduce wakelocks)
mDNIe is enabled but tweaked to look good

Actually I'm liking the change in the color scheme - I was just wondering how to revert back if needed.
Another thing I noticed is that while scrolling in XDA threads it stutters. It might be just me but still wanted to point out.
As someone asked it would be really nice to know what kind of good changes we should expect from this kernel. It looks good.

MD5?
Not the worst thing in the world but for about the last 4 seconds of boot and then until my sd card has been scanned, everything has a heavy green overlay.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA
Also NSTool won't let me set battery charge to above 96%. Not sure if that is relevant to the kernel or if that is an app "feature" though.

marcusant said:
How to overclock
Download NSTools from the market
Go to the CPU tab
Set the max frequency to what you want
Liveoc is really buggy and I need to talk to thomasskull about some RAM things to make sure I do not brick anybody. For now, do not mess with liveoc and keep it at 100%.
How to undervolt
Download Voltage Control (this is also possible via nstools)
Slide to the voltages tab
Click on a frequency
Slide the slider to change UV value and apply
Click to collapse
So we should have both nstools and vc installed and running at the same time if Iwant to oc and uv? What kind of downside to the kernel if I want to use vc for both ocing and uving? *

Hehe I like the term divorced here I made a thread to simplify things up, and separate kernel related stuff to ROM dev. related stuff. This has always been kind of a teamwork project since a ROM cannot run without a kernel and a kernel is useless without a ROM. Now that Arcee has implemented the newer V30A stuff in his repo, adampk doesn't really need my kernel anymore to test his RIL as he has everything in hand to make one himself.
Haha, that's cool, I noticed is thread jacking comment, soooo I couldn't help but use the "divorce" term. Good work nonetheless.

Mazout. I know that once its fully functional u will redo the amount of ram to be assigned to apps. I just wanted to know have u tested the rom's performance after changing those numbers yet? M asking this because I heard on p990 thread that because of less ram... they had to reduce the amount of ram for apps in order for the OS to work fluidly ... do u have any rough idea how much ram will u assign to apps and to OS? To get the same fluidity as now with some ram left for heavy apps like GTA 3 or Modern Combat 3

Well, with that info in mind, you could setup swapper2 for some app swap space memory, granted your external SD is class 8 or 10. Than we'd be able to give up app ram for sys ram, with a slightly longer app load time for memory intensive apps, such as games you mentioned. i play them too.
Since this is kernel and not rom, i was going to suggest possibly baking the app into the rom, bit here is a mute point.

This patch is already included in this build. I have about ~350mb for apps. If I want to increase this I would have to reduce the GPU allocated memory which, in this case with 3D graphics apps, might no be beneficial.
If there's too many reports of having not enough free RAM I will consider adjusting this.

Yes I had a git before (when I was doing my first betas) but it is private. I will create a github account and upload my files before the next release (that's a promise). I want to make it clean and leave dev. notes for everybody to understand what I did. My kernel source is on my ubuntu which doesn't have an internet connection so didn't have time to transfer it and upload yet.
OP updated with github link and 1,2GHz OC (kept stock voltage to reduce risk of issues with beta). Tested long enough for stability.

Blast it! I guess I picked a bad day to try to quit flashing ROMs! DL'ing now.
Thanks for your work!
Update 10/2: I've been running this now for two days, and this may be the ROM that breaks me of my habit of flashing. Very professionally put together, It contains some really nice features! It may not be quite as thrifty with the battery as some, but that's more than made up for by its look and feel.
Anybody on the fence about flashing this ROM, I'd recommend you give it a try.
On a side note, being a diehard CWM devotee, I flashed using CWM 6.0.3.7 and had no problems at all. I did all the usual things, including formatting /system, which the community seems to agree is an absolute necessity with 4.3 ROMs (at least with the initial upgrade from a 4.2.x, and I have continued each time).
Again, I have to say thanks and a tip o' the hat!
Hey guys,
I just rebuilt Revolt again because they added Active Display yesterday. Now this ROM really does have everything under the sun! I've also included my UBER kernel in this build so let me know what you think! If you are experiencing lag it is most likely caused by the launcher so maybe try Nova or Apex before you complain. (I've only had a complaint of two so the lag must not be that bad)
Cheers!

Ahhh...good. So I can taper off by flashing this update.
If anyone, like me, doesn't know what Active Display is, educate yourself here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TMycL9mzpg
Thanks, Cl3Kener! I might have to do a video about this one, similar to what I did for another ROM. I'll advise when (if) it gets done.
This looks super cool! Gotta give it a try soon... I really like the Active Display idea!

OK, so I took the plunge an flashed this. Running smooth and great so far!
I only have some minor issues with some screens/pages/settings not darkened out with Dark ReVolt turned on (which I greatly prefer):
Daydream settings
ReVolt Control
The default calendar app
Some Google Account settings
And in general:
The Quick Settings Tiles are rather awkward to configure without the Add/Delete tile and drag-n-drop ordering. More customization would be awesome!
I have no idea where the setting is to mute the volume change sound...
I have swapped out the calendar with one from TeamBlackOut, and I'm really liking this ROM, especially with the additional kernel governors and capabilities.
Keep up the great work! Thank you!
EDIT: No lag at all here, but then again I'm running Nova Pro...

I agree with Dan here. Also on Nova Prime. Some lag, but reducing animation to .25 helps. Would be great if Revolt options would go dark. On tiles, the profile tile gets stuck displaying my custom "car" profile even if it switches to another profile. I've never had that happen on other ROMS.
Also, music pauses randomly, then it starts up again (using Apollo and Jetaudio).
Pulled the phone apk from Hellybean to get in-call rotation back. Works great.
Overall a great job on this ROM. THANKS!

With the active notification enabled it looks like the proximity sensor will lock the phone even if you unlock the phone. This is with the pocket notifications enabled.

Wow, stunning!
Been an AOKP fanboy since the 3.2 days and have tried many, many roms but always went back to the pink Unicorn... no more. This is an amazing rom so far, thanks for the good work. Rockin' and rollin' at 1.72 can't be beat.
My only suggestion might be to tie the backround in the ReVolt Control menus to the Dark mode toggle... it looks so pretty black, then you get into the ReVolt Control and BLAMO! I feel like I'm in a Manfred Man song
question why when i tried to take a screenshot it said cant storage maybe in use ? everything works fine
Last update seems to break MMS

you HAVE to use TWRP ??? Latest CWM won't work ?
Sorry for newb question
Looks great from the reviews so Im going to download it now. Just wondering: 1) when I flash this ROM the UBER kernel flashes with it right? I dont have to D/L and flast it on my own? 2)will I have to flash Rogers Wireless modems in order to get connectivity for our LTE?

Does seem to run hot with the over voltage. Running a bench test causes a freq reduction to 1728. Had some crashes also. switched to Furnace 1.6.1 kernel. Temp was better, no crashes, freq was stable at 2496.

I think Google Drive was having issues, I am working on setting up some space on my own server.
Okay question, I want to use halo and pie. But when you expand the desktop it goes into full screen. The navigate and notifications bar come back with swiping down. Anyway to stop this or a different way to go about it?

Google Maps Connection Issues
I just flashed this ROM and installed latest gapps for this specific Kit Kat build. Everything ran fine except when I went to test google maps, it could not get into the assisted voice guided mode. It just gives me the big red exclamation ! "Can't connect" Try again just before it is supposed to load up voice guidance. I modified my gps.config appropriately, still same problem.
Is there a fix?

I do not have this device so I have not tested this build, there is a chance that you will get sent to fastboot, if you are not comfortable getting into recovery manually please do not try this until someone has been able to confirm. If it does not boot, I have a way to fix the build.
Please download a kernel just in case, this will allow you to boot. If this happens please let me know and I will fix it and re-upload.

Please download a kernel just in case, this will allow you to boot. If this happens please let me know and I will fix it and re-upload.
Thanks!

Failed to flash on TWRP 2.6.3.3
I didn't try any other recovery as this one is the most stable.
I hope this works. I've missed this rom.
I am way to chicken to be first, but I am geeked to get this ROM going, still running liquidsmooth on my Galaxy SkyRocket and Nexus7.

For a few people on the vs980 and TWRP (myself included) we had to manually unmount system after wiping and before flashing, please let me know if that works.

That it fails to flash. I restored back to stock so I don't remember the exact response, but it said error flashing due to it being the wrong version. (had this error once when I accidently flashed a Rom for the international g2 instead of the d800.)
Is everyone having issues with this not booting? If so I have a pretty simple/fast fix we can test.

I haven't had anyone able to test with me so I'm not sure exactly. I have things I can do to fix it but I need someone to test, I have the Verizon version. I figured most of you guys and gals would be messing with Stock KitKat, if you can't tell I'm jealous.

I think everyone is a little gun shy after a few scary moments of boot looping and recovery issues with G2. It seems like either D800 flashes good or you end up searching xda for help on getting back to stock. Or worse, you end up in adb land. I know I'm cautious after the first OTA sneaked through without permission and almost ruined my phone, thankfully I had TWRP, figured out adb, and there were some bad ass devs who saved the day. I am definitely not taking any risk.

Hey @Reginald476 I'd be willing to test

I'm considering purchasing this phone and this is the room I will be using how do others feel about the g2 and this room or should I go with the HTC one. Battery life is important to me. I'm coming from a nexus 4

G2 is beast of a phone, and Liquidsmooth "will eventually" be a hell of ROM for the G2, just not yet. Keep an eye on rooting and recoveries for the newer firmwares though, those not quite cracked yet.

Thanks a lot. I have been debating about this for 3 weeks now.

I love my G2, it is hands down the fastest phone I have used and the battery on it is amazing, I don't have to worry about it if I miss skipping it at night. If you can stand to wait, HTC is going to be announcing the new One next month, might be interesting to see what they have.
Don't get me wrong, the G2 is awesome and I hope LG fixes some of the issues I have with it when they release the G3.
No, I have not forgotten about you all, I was waiting for a feature to be released so I could make a new build, I am building now, if all goes well I should have dr87 and Furnace versions of LS for you all later today/tomorrow morning. See below for the included updates/changes!
**3/4**
Liquid Updates:
Slim's Recents
Fixes for native screen recorder
More multi-core boot optimization
Possible fix for poor speaker quality
Bump in speaker volume
Reduce volume in call
Add more steps for in-call volume
Edit: I have a Hangout that I am using if you would like instant access to stuff or to me, just add me on G+ or send me a message and I will add you. Just click my name and it has my G+ info. If you would like to test builds for me, let me know and there is a separate group for that.
OP is updated! There are downloads for dr87 and Furnace Kernels.
