Some info about moto g - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, I was thinkink to buy this device but I would know if the camera is good or not, so I thought you could help me.
I just want to know if the pics are good. I use the camera prevalently to take pictures of texts (so I want to know if macros are good)
If you can post some pics you took I'd have a better idea on the camera.
Thank you!

Camera sensor and lense?

Hi everyone, I recently got a Desire HD Canadian version such is closer to the inspire than the European version, I am wondering if anyone knows what kind of lens and sensor is this device is using.. I have read that there is 2 kinds of sensors one a Samsung one and another type such I don't remember the name of. Also I heard the lens is plastic? Can anyone confirm this? I have read the guide for the camera on the dhd forum but I won't to find out more detail about the hardware in the American version since it seems different. looking forward to any information. Thank you

If you want a camera , a nikon d40 is cheap these days . It takes a great picture.and you can change lenses on it , even add a bigger flash
dont consider the camera on Inspire 4G gives u the good quality on photos
I am not complaining on the camera I just want to know the hardware..

I'm just saying..... All the hype about the camera and it's so so..... My iphone 4s still tops it. Hoping they update the focusing software.

I disagree, I too had an iphone 4s. IMO this camera is just as good, with more features. But to each his own!
Ive taken several pictures and videos. I think the camera is great and super responsive. As soon as I touch the shutter button the picture is already taken and in my photo gallery.
The zoom on it is fairly decent too.
Maybe we could use this thread for people to post what custom settings are working for them. I hear the camera needs a little adjustment out of the box.

I just wish it had hold to focus like the Galaxy Nexus (it was there in early and later versions, but gone after one of the updates). It worked very well. I like to be more in control of the focus. But the burst mode kind of makes up for it. I don't use it much but it could be pretty handy.
I love this camera as well, but I will say the focus is a bit of a problem. Any slight movement and focus is gone and it has to try again. Great for stills though

Seems like it has a tendency to overexpose especially when outside. May need to keep it at -1 on exposure.
I'm pretty happy with the speed. No shutter lag at all! The Note would have motion blur sometimes in direct sunlight.
The quality, when viewed on a pc, is very good also. Still need more time to play, but I'm a pretty happy camper right now.

Ok good to see other members feel the same. Just like another member said I wish I had control of the focus.

Thanks for the tip. I noticed it kept refocusing while i already had my daughter in the center of the frame(of course three year olds move a lot)
I took about 150 photos yesterday at the Highline in NYC and can definitely say the camera is awesome. Nearly as good as my Canon S90. Have never had an iPhone to compare, but my iPhone owning friends were very impressed.

I thought my Note took better pictures, but it may have to do with auto focus and anti-shake on the the Note.

See the difference.
Hand /clam is the note.
Tote with gear is HOX.
Looks good to me

They both take good pictures. I thought the Note did a better job and it was much quicker on the focus.
I love mine

Can't decide! LG G2 or Moto X

I'm in the market for a new phone and I've been looking at these two phones and I am really torn between them. They both have good battery life and I like the feel of both of them. The only down side about the moto x for me is that I can't use the moto maker option for Verizon which is depressing. So I basically just want to hear from people who have had hands-on with these devices and would be will on giving me input to help me out. Anything would be appreciated thanks!

Got the LG G2 recently and I'm completely happy with it.
Be patient and wait for Nexus 5. Nexus 5 > g2 + moto x

That's not really true. Better image processing leads to better results, that's why cameras get better with updates.

I've upgraded from defy xt to moto g.. And I believe the camera has some hardware limitations.. Coz now both my phone are Motorola and both 5mp and am using camera ICS + on both the phones and pics from my moto g are pathetic .. But defy xt produces decent pics.

They say so comparing it to the M8 and it's exceptional low light performance. Obviously, E8 won't be as good as that, but I read in some Chinese review that it is a very capable 13mp unit, comparable to the S4 camera, which was considered really well back then. For a phone camera, I think that is sufficient.
Also, I'm linking another hands on, from Techradar this time!

I found a full review of the E8 along with the M8. Seems nice. Is from a website called Tom's Hardware. Do check it out.

No. As far as I know, it has the same speaker grill in all regions.
I saw a picture with the full speaker grill too, but I think that was a pre-release test unit!

Not yet, but I'm pretty sure this camera will be no match for the S5. That will be way better.
Plz share camera comparision between 13 mp camera of lg g2 or s4 with htc 816 or e8 (both have same 13 mp camera)

Let's see i have to take the camera issue very seriously because right now i m using xperia sp and its camera is really awful......
It doesn't have clarity, sharpness and detailing.
And full of noise and blurriness.

The shots are ok but....that yellow tinge to every single photo really makes the photos seem dull and lifeless. Don't know if that can be fixed with adjusting the manual settings like white balance or not. Users of the phone know anything about that?

For an average user, I'm sure the camera will be sufficient. Easily. But if you're looking for an out-of-the-world performance, this phone it's for you. It's camera is not one of the best 13mp shooter out there.
I currently use a One S, which had a pretty decent camera itself, served me really well till now, I've clicked some amazing shots with it, and I'm sure this One E8 is better than One S.

I guess tinkering with the manual setting will improve the results a bit, but I have read at many places that it tends to click pics a bit darker. The photos don't look dull in particular, just a bit less light in them!
