I wanted to install a new ROM and I messed up
So in twrp I did
>Wipe
>Advanced wipe
and selected everything.... including the partition of my current ROM, and the one I was going to install.
Whenever I boot up, it will say I am not rooted, so will let me root before turning off, also stating there is no OS.
It boots to just a black screen with "Google" and a lock button at the bottom.
I cannot detect the phone when I have it plugged into my PC, so I cannot upload any files to it.
I do not have a recovery file, is there anyway to make it so I can upload a file on it??

Strongly recommend returning the phone to factory stock condition before trying a new ROM install again. Here's a guide on returning to stock.

[Q][A700]How to undo CWM and restore factory recovery

Hi,
I'm in the situation of having a working tablet, but the dodgy version of CWM. The original thread has been deleted and I remember there was adb command at the end to stop the original update.zip from flashing the factory recovery, but not what it was so I can reverse it !
So if anyone can help me out, that would be great, so I can avoid a bricked device !

go finding a original recovery dump, and flashing it in fastbootmode.
Has anybody been able to find a stock recovery for the A700? JP, I also flashed this broken CWM, thankfully I haven't used it but I want to put the stock one back on to avoid any issues.

Thanks! However, the US Version doesn't have an update for it, at least not yet, and I haven't been able to find a stock US A700 ROM.
So we would need to rename the install-recovery.old back to install-recovery.sh in /system as this was disabled in CWM ??
So has anyone managed to successfully put on the stock recovery ?? !!

Take a little advice folks. If you don't know what you're doing, and your tab is running fine, don't be messing with anything. Just leave it alone til a better method comes.
My guess, if you rename your recovery.sh, is that when you boot, you will either get;
A. a "loading recovery kernel" message that just stays there
or
B. an "invalid recovery image", or something similar.

I don't understand these instructions. What original file is being replaced? What update.zip are you referring to?
EDIT
Well, I tried to swap out the update script that came in the ROM: SDs_Acer_A700_AV043.RV00RC00_AV043.RV07RC04_EMEA_CUS1, with the one provided above and seemed to have made some progress...I put on an external SD card and renamed to update and then flashed it through the CWM recovery and it completed. A random offset was noted and then the SD update completed note. However, when I rebooted the device it stuck at the Acer logo and never went any further.
EDIT
So, it then occurred to me that the flash through CWM was probably only partially successful - maybe the replacement of the recovery worked. So, I took the same ROM I noted above, unmodified, placed on the external SD card, renamed, etc. and flashed it and it worked - I never saw any signs of CWM during this process. I hope this helps others too.
EDIT
Looks like I spoke too soon...the flash never got past a 1/4 of the progress bar. Looks like I still have a non-functioning device.

Hi, I'm a A510 user. I used the CWM to wipe data/factory reset, after that i cant flash any zip, and even cant enter the system. When i turn on the tab, it stuck on 'iconia tab' LOGO, I tried to hard reset, then i got a 'Unrecoverable bootloader error (0x19000008)'
I enter the fastboot and flash the stock recovery back. next i use the recovery to flash update.zip as usual, but every time the flash will stuck in 1/5 of the whole progress bar, I changed it with other rom zip, or even change the SD card, it didn't work anyway!
every time the flash stuck in the same place of the whole progress bar, i guess it is not an accident! After read your solution, I check the script in my zip, then i delete 2 lines about 'format' command. I think this time will be ok! but to my surprise the green turtle fell down when flashing.
I think the idea is great, but it maybe make the script incomplete, so it cant be flash in.:crying:

Help!!! Possible Brick m8 VZW

I'm fairly new to the modding area, I'm familiar with the VZW S3 and S4, but upgraded to an M8...I rooted, got S OFF with firewater, and booted into twrp...BUT somehow the main factory image was deleted, and I can only boot into twrp..it stays at the HTC logo if I just let it boot...help!!
Is there something similar to Samsung's ODIN mode that I can just reflash a factory image?

So you were S-OFF and you somehow got turned to S-ON...??
I would say flash the RUU and call it a day, but we don't have one and the one we do have you need S-OFF..
best bet?
get into fastboot/bootloader, and put on a custom recovery.
then, get the TWRP nandroid of the OTA, restore to that.
then, weaksauce/S-OFF
and then you should be back to normal.
If adb/fastboot is not working, I suggest you re-install your drivers, worked for me when I didn't think it would.
opion 2
get TWRP on with fastboot
then
adb sideload any ROM to it and then get back to S-OFF
since you are unlocked you should be ok to do this without being htc dev unlocked.
you could also try htc dev, but i think that is locked.
sorry trying to think of anything else.

because of this, it most likely will not flash the nandroid then as system is a big part of the ROM and needs to be mounted.
you may have to do what was explained earlier and wipe the Internal, and then you may be able to re-do these steps.
so first try it out.
if it doesnt work, I would then wipe the 5 things instead of the 4
1) data
2) cache
3) dalvik cache
4) system
5) Internal storage (this will remove all your internal storage!)
then reboot from recovery into bootloader, then back into recovery and see if system is mounted, if it is, you can go ahead and either do the nandroid backup or an adb sideload. -- your choice
now,
if NONE of that works,
download the "RUU" that was put together and that *should* fix you right up.

yes.. yes it most certainly will work as my ROM is based off that precise nandroid backup...
this is something you should have had backed up..
but, make yourself a dummy nand backup to create the folder..
just don't backup anything except.. data or cache, just pick one thing. and it'll create the folder for you (tip: backup EVERYTHING (Internal., SD-Card, anything important, etc) when playing with beta ROMs. ESP AOSP beta ROMs..
the folder that gets created will be the same throughout your entire stay on the M8 using TWRP, it will never change (well that phone anyway, if you get a refurb or w.e. obv it will be different, but that phones folder markers will never change within TWRP, so it's to your benefit to have this backed up and ready to go...)

Awesome!
Very welcome.
So what was the result fix?
Did you have to wipe Internal from system not mounting?
Or did the adb sideload work?
Also once it flashed it loaded up if you did not have to wipe Internal, was your storage still there?
Glad that your back up and running.

I had to flash the RUU but it finally worked and was applied..I'm honestly thinking of holding off on doing more to it until I learn more!
Had to wipe pretty much all except my sd card, rebooted to bootloader and back to twrp and it allowed me to write to system. BUT I couldnt get any rom to flash (when I did, it hung on the HTC logo as usual, but the aroma installer said that it was successful..so I gave up on that and did the RUU on a different computer and its back to normal.

It's possible after so long you didn't give the ROM long enough to boot up?
Sounds like RUU might be a cause from flashing AOSP, threads like this are good to warn people, and for when it happens to others, they can read this and know what to do. Maybe think of a new title that could help those in a search to find this thread?

[SOLVED] How to soft-unbrick OnePlus One with no Nandroid? (page 3)

I have rooted my OnePlus One a few days back. There was an update to 11.0-XNPH30O. When I hit the install button, it redirects me to the Team Win recovery mode. Then when I hit reboot, system. It still says "An update is available for your system" Do I have to flash a newer ROM? I'm sorry, I am really new to this as this is my first android phone, what are the precautions and pre-requisites I have to do? Will this wipe my phone? Do I have to manually wipe it? I'm sorry for these questions..

Did you check the current build on the phone, because there are two OTA's (one major and one minor). if you see 30O build on your about settings and yet you see an update available it is the small update. if you are still on 25R go to developer options and uncheck "update CM recovery" and try to do the OTA update again.

No you dont have to wipe anything(if you are on stock 25R), all apps and settings will be intact. Also did you make any changes like to mixer xml or lockscreen or anything else? you have to revert back to old ones or else the installation will fail.

I have read it but it kind of confuses me a bit.
I have already flashed the META-INF.zip, so I'm guessing all the mods I put should be gone now.
Now I'm wondering, can I just transfer the cm-bacon-d22b777afa-to-0428073396-signed.zip (113mb file) to the phone and install it using TeamWin? After I reboot and power off/and power back on. then transfer the cm-bacon-0428073396-to-4f280f505a-signed.zip (8.12mb file) to the phone and install it using TeamWin.

Before you do anything Take a Nandroid back up, so that if anything goes bad you can just restore.
OK. Just download this zip and flash it using TWRP(since the post says you can do it without sideload).
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BzgUrWZ7XZ0rcDA2YVZLZUY0YkU/edit
after this is flashed just reboot the device and go to developer options uncheck "update CM recovery" then go to "about" and look for update and it will be installed with no problems.
****NOTE****
If you run into a bootloop. Wipe both caches and try flashing again. If you get any FC then try setting permissions with another cache wipe.

It's not a bootloop the CM gear icon just keeps on spinning. How long do I have to wait? It's been spinning for a while now.

TeamWin is still accessible though. I guess I'll have to Factory reset.

it shouldn't take long, leave it for 10mins. if it is still stuck hold the power button for 10 sec or untill the screen goes off then hold power + volume down button untill 1+ logo appears then clear the caches as said above.

[Recovery][G925P] TWRP 2.8.7.0 Touch Recovery UPDATED FOR 5.1.1!!!! [2015-7-16]

Well it's here everyone TWRP for 5.1.1. Yes this works for 5.0.2 also. Works on OFE, OF7, OH1, OI1, OJ7 and OL1 5.1.1
TWRP for Marshmallow go Here
All credit goes to @ram9200 so be sure to thank him for the numerous hours of hard work to get this working
Instructions for 5.1.1:
In order for this to work on 5.1.1, first enable OEM unlocking under developer options, then you must head on over to @djvoleur thread and install his rooted kernel first.
Link: Here
then proceed to the next steps.
This is rare but if for some reason you get stuck in recovery or your recovery doesn't boot properly, then you may need to do a factory reset or wipe your internal partition.
How to Install:
Using odin:
Download and install the drivers
Download the tar file
Download Odin 3.10.6 or 3.10.7, extract then install
Leave Auto reboot and F. Reset Time checked
Absolutely do not check repartition
Click AP/PDA
Navigate to the recovery.tar
Hold down power + volume down + home on your phone to enter download mode and connect via USB cable
Click Start
Hold down the power, home, and volume up button when it reboots
Rinse and repeat if TWRP does not install
Using Flashify:
Download Flashify from Google Play
Download the img file
Under the FLASH tab using the Flashify app click Recovery Image.
Find the img file you just downloaded..
Click on the img file then you will be prompted with a Flash Recovery? screen.
Click YUP if you would like to continue with the flash or MAYBE NOT... if you chose the wrong file or have changed your mind.
If you chose to continue flashing you will see a working box which says Flashing...
A box which says Flash Completed will show after flash is complete.
Click Reboot Now.
Done!
Happy Flashing!!
Worked fine for me but:
FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK

Any.........I used the material black. Go to the very beginning of the thread and read the instructions on how to apply.
Basically just choose the proper resolution and change the name to ui.zip and create the appropriately named folder?
Also, I'm paranoid about the Chinese text on the first boot up. I know REBOOT option is bottom right. On the next screen where is the SYSTEM REBOOT button?
Thanks a million for posting this and thanks for the help!

lol no problem, on the next screen system is the top left button
Ok, so I got the TWRP flashed with Flashify, held my breath and it worked!
I created a folder called "theme" and placed a theme of my liking in the folder under the name "ui.zip" Will the theme automatically load when I boot into recovery or will I have to so some Chinese text navigating? Can you take me through the clicks if I have to go through the Chinese text?
Also, do you know if this TWRP will bring the deep sleep problems that plagued early rooted users?
Just picked up my edge today! Going to get this installed once I am home. Looking forward to a custom ROM in the near future (hopefully!).

Once you create the folder and place the theme there, all you have to do is boot into recovery and all Chinese is gone. Not sure if the deep sleep issue is present. Hopefully someone will report back. I was able to successfully create a backup and was able to flash some themed apps.

Crap!!! No deep sleep!!!
Flashing stock back. Oh well, easy enough to swap back and forth between twrp and stock. I'll just flash twrp when I need to use it for some reason.

im really interested if we can streamline the process and have a single img file we can get a stable working twrp

Download CPU Spy from the Playstore, run the app, let your screen sleep for about 5-10 mins, wake your phone and open the app, if you see a percentage under deep sleep then you're good, if you see nothing, then you need the fix
finally got odin to work with me and got twrp up and running! thanks everyone for the help and resources.
NOW its time to make a backup and try to start adding some goodies : ) and to mess around and see if i can get my rotation back lol

[Resolved] Installed TWRP on phone with a locked bootloader - now stuck in boot loop

I am new to rooting, and decided to root my Galaxy Note II SGH-i317m a few days ago. I used a method with no adb access...i think. Here's the reference thread, just in case I'm wrong: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1980644
I got a bit overenthusiastic, and got TWRP while forgetting to unlock my bootloader first. Now, my phone will only boot into TWRP. All 4 reboot options go back to TWRP. What is the best way to get my phone back to working? I understand that I may have to lose my data. It doesn't matter: my top priority is getting my phone to work again.
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place. I'm new here.
if you can boot into recovery than try to wipe cache and dalwik cache than try to too boot again it may work

Thanks for the quick reply. I just tried that, and no change. Just to clarify, the only thing I can boot into at the moment is recovery mode.
I think what I need to do is flash the stock recovery back onto my phone. Is this a possible solution? If so, how should I go about doing it? I currently cannot access download mode.
i think u should install your current rom again if u insall stock recovery you may not able to do this with stock recovery even cant get twrp back
so..do a nandroid backup and install a rom which u like stock1 or custom1

Well, the thing is, my problem isn't with the ROM at all. It's that TWRP does not work with a locked bootloader. So the way I see it, either I need to replace TWRP with something that works with a locked bootloader, or unlock the bootloader. In your opinion, how would replacing the ROM help with my problem?

It's done. It's worth noting that my root method, linked in the OP, doesn't give adb access. I'm not sure if this changes anything.
Also, I discovered that by removing and replacing the battery, my phone can power off. From here I can access download mode. Something that might be useful, especially if the solution involves odin.

tried system restore with twrp?
try it first and if ur not sure that it will work just make backup of boot , efs , system and data(if necessary) via twrp to sd card copy the backup to pc via card reader or something and extract the system backup there should be a file named build.prop in system folder edit it and do it like this :
under #additional build properties
ro.adb.secure=0
ro.secure=0
ro.allow.mock.location=1
ro.debuggable=1
persist.sys.root_access=1
find the above lines and edit the parameters as i have shown to you use notepad++ to edit the file save it the last line will give ya root access by default and second last will make it debuggable just save it repack and flash with twrp cheers
hit thanks
Alright. Since I can't find another thread like this one, I will assume that I am one of the first to have this problem. Here is what I did.
I used samsung-firmware.org to find the latest firmware for my phone, which includes both ROM and recovery. Other brands probably also have a website like this.
I used Odin to flash the firmware onto my phone - this wiped my data, but removed TWRP, which is an acceptable solution to me. I might also have wiped my data while playing around with TWRP trying to fix my phone - I'm not sure.
Thanks to both EMONESSboy and [email protected] for their help. I ended up going with something similar to EMONESSboy's solution, since the commands seemed a little risky. Thanks anyways, your help is much appreciated!

If your situation is the same as mine was, I would recommend the same solution. Just to clarify - you rooted your phone? And then you installed a custom recovery, which is now the only thing you can access?
If so, you should install your stock ROM the same way you installed the rooted ROM. I'm not sure how you would go about doing that, or even if you can access that mode, since your model is not very common.

Actually, what happend was that i tried to root my phone through Kingaroot. It shows some error at 90%. After few seconds my phone gets rebooted and snce then, it is showing Mfr LOGO only.
I have tried Factory reset, wipe cache partition etc.
I had lollipop earlier on my phone.
