How do I make calls with Google Voice? I read that to make calls you need to call your Google Voice number, press 2, dial the number then #. But I tried this and it doesnt work. Help me someone.

Got a question...
I have recently been upgraded to Google Voice, and was wondering if there was a way I could basically "spoof" all outgoing caller IDs so it appeared as my Google Voice number. The reason for doing this is if I switch to Google Voice, my calls will still show as coming from my old number.
If this isnt possible, anyone have any other ways around this?
EDIT: I should note... I do have a PPC6800/HTC MOGUL, so I have access to all the EPST settings and whatnot.
bump please....
You can but you have to call your google voice number to initiate the outgoing call instead of dialing out directly.
Ahhhhhh! Someone please help me. My Google voice isn't acting right. I've used Google voice a lot for my voicemail only. That's what I always did, I never ran into issues. Now all my text messages, incoming calls are coming through Google voice. I don't understand. I just want to use it for my voice mail. Like usual. I even went on the Google voice settings web page. I can't figure out how to disable my text messages from coming through gvoice. Can anyone help me? Thanks
I could only see this happening if people were calling and texting your Google Voice number (you can find this in GV settings on your phone) instead of your actual phone number (the one given to you by your carrier). Google voice, I believe, is unable to intercept text messages not routed to your GV number.

they were calling and texting my google voice number. Aren't you supposed to set your google voice number to your actual phone number?
So, I've been looking around to no avail, but I'm 100% certain this has been discussed before. When I use google voice to make outgoing calls on my android phone, regardless of rom, when I make a call to my contacts they are displayed as "unknown number", but when they make calls it shows their name and all that. Any idea why this is happening? thanks for the help.
Does anyone know of a good way to have your Google phone number show in caller ID by default?
Without porting your google number to your phone carrier...
I know if I go through the google voice app and call from there it will show my Google phone number in caller ID, but it's kind of clumsy. I have to have the number saved as a contact first, there's no number pad to just make a call, etc.
Thanks

In google voice, go to settings, and change "Making calls" setting.to always use google voice to make calls
Any call you make from now on will show your google voice number. (You can also put the google voice widget on your home screen to toggle between the various settings for GV (always use your phone#, always use GV#, always ask, use only for international calls)

Exactly what this guys said, you can have it ask every time you make a phone call to choose what number to call fom, or you can set it to which ever you want to use. Its in the 1st setup of google voice after installing. or in the GV settings..
Thanks, I got it.
In addition to above, it seems like it you have to use the area code(even for local calls) when dialing out for it to work.
Just something to note for anyone searching for a solution.
I just got a Samsung Gear 3, without a call plan. So it is connecting to my phone by Bluetooth. I can receive phone calls on it, but can't make calls. When I try to make a call, the call just stops. I think it might relate to the fact I have my carrier phone number and Google Voice number. When I place a call, on the phone it gives me the option to make the call with my carrier number or Google voice number. But I don't get that same option when calling on the Gear 3 device. Any suggestions?? THANKS
I think you will have to use a default outbound number. The watch doesn't know what to do with the choice of Google voice or native dialing.
