Issue to capture hdmi because it's hdcp protected - Shield Q&A

Hi Everyone,
I'm owner of Nvidia Shield and a Avermedia live gamer HD so i've trying to do something to capture stuff with a mini-hdmi cable but i got an error about the Shield is HDCP restricted.
I Mean : Everywhere: dashboard, emulator, games, ...
There isn't a lot of discussion about that but somes (here) say there is not hdpc ... i'm here to warn you about that.
I just buy a hdmi active splitter who normally bypass this protection, i'll keep you informed.
--> If you have any suggestion for desactivate this protection directly inside android it can help (it's cheaper... )
Have a nice day

Yea I'm also curious about this I used to be able to record my shield without any HDCP problems in anything then at some point something must have switched something on the shield and it cant be recorded in any shape through HDMI even after reboot without opening any apps.

I can capture it with the pvr 2 and the rocket with no issues. Here is some footage I recorded with the pvr rocket.

I have the avermedia live game portable and I can't stream or rec because it says me it's protected... The only possibility that I found was using split x and capture all pc screen when I watch shield on it... But if it's posible to capture directly or stream it, please help me too

I solved it with an HDMI active splitter like this : "HDMI 1x2 Splitter Verteiler Full-HD 1 IN 2 OUT für 3D 1080P HDTV PC"
They remove HDCP Prorection
My first vidéo on Shield (French) Youtube : akhJrDc6BFI
@Failrunner : probably your pvr recorder have a embeded feature to remove hdcp

Works for me with my HD PVR2

Ive patched recentral.exe and now its able to capture HDCP content. No more chinese "magic" splitters.
PM me to get link (forum limitations).
You can feedback about errors and bugs you met using my file.
PS Its about 62 MB cause there are full installer and firmware included.

Although it's been awhile were you able to get the Avermedia Live Gamer Portable to capture nVidia Shield Portable output? Any tip on a different cable or adapter would help.
Thanks Jack Z.

video out

this is probably a silly question but is this impossible?
somehow have a usb to svid lead and some software?
i forgot about sound.. could audio be run through miniusb also?
Well, while I can't say its IMPOSSIBLE, I can say its highly unlikely to exist.
The mini USB on these devices is designed only to be a slave port (meaning, it can connect to a host, such as a PC, but it cannot act as a host to other devices, such as a mouse or keyboard... the connected device needs to host it). That being said, the mini-USB wouldn't appear to have the capability on the surface.
I have seen mini-SD cards that use the SDIO interface to control a VGA output, but the problem with the Tornado is that the card slot is under the battery, making it impossible to have a wire sticking out to a screen. And even then, its not a "true WYSIWYG" video out, but rather the ability to show slides, such as powerpoint using their software.
Now, the reason I saw that its NOT impossible is because theoretically, I've already done something similar using a Media Center PC attached to my TV. I had a video on my phone that I wished to show someone on a bigger screen, so I plugged the tornado into the PC using the USB, and started WM5torage, which effectively made the tornado a mass storage device. Then, the media center PC played the video from my storage card on the TV.
While this may not be exactly what you had in mind, I think its possible (if someone were inclined to design it), to make a box that could pull off video files on demand from your device, and then output them to a svideo or RCA jack. It still wouldn't be a real VGA out, but it would sorta make you feel like you had an ipod video.
As far as audio, your device already has a stereo audio jack. You can plug that into a Television using a 3.5mm to RCA adaptor cable (similiar to the ones that sell for the ipod video), and then a 2.5mm to 3.5mm coming out of your phone (I did that once too, don't ask why...). Won't help with video though.
Some more information that is interesting to note:
-There ARE some windows mobile devices that have USB host capability, particularly the Toshiba pocket PC's of yesteryear. They allowed usb keyboards, printers, mice, flash drives, etc... to be connected to the port directly on the device. So, that would make what you are describing much more feasible. However, the Toshiba's also supports an expansion pack that included a VGA out, so you'd already be all set if you had one of those! too bad they haven't come out with a current device in a long time (there's some new ones on the horizon I've seen though).
-New Bluetooth specifications are being laid out that include protocols for transfer of video, much like A2DP is for audio. The problem is, much like A2DP for audio, there will most likely be many hurdles with compatibility, and it probably won't be so reliable even when working.
Good luck!
That would be pretty cool, to have something like "bluetooth audio/video distribution profile"

I'm pretty sure it will need BT 2.0's enhanced bandwidth to carry all that data smoothly, so either way when this comes out, we'll need to get new devices by then.
But yea, the concept IS cool... Bluetooth totally rocks when used properly!
inasmuch as i would like to believe that such a thing can be done, dishe's right. it is unlikely. theoretically, it possible - but the cost and hassle to create something like this would not be cost effective (and hassle-effective ^_^) for the inventor... unless there are reaaally generous people out there... sigh.
anyway, check this picture out. if this were real, that would make this the perfect phone (oh, and hot swappable SDIO... almost forgot about that ^_^)

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA nice picture.

A few ways do do this...
Run MyMobler via BT and use camtasia or windows media encoder to Live Screen cap the MyMobler window. Then Stream to any format and publish. You can also play out to webcam.
There was a miniSD video output cad you can get on ebay, but for some devices where the SD card is under the battery it wont work.
Lastly there is Comvu.com try thier cab it works well with wifi and 3g

Somewhat unique input request

How difficult would it be to make a driver for an input device? I know that in the android sdk there's the ddms utility that I use for screen shots, but it also logs things on the device. Or what about the recently made public google app creator?
My dad is a professional piano player and uses a laptop on the music stand for his massive collection of sheet music. The music is just se up like a locally stored website. He has a foot assembly with 2 pedals to go forward and back through the pages. It plugs in with usb.
How dificult would that be to work with the usb port on a G tablet? I'm borrowing a friends for the night playing with it but we are looking to get one but this is a big factor.

If he's using something like this;

It might just work as we already have usb keyboard support so you may need only to edit the keymap to have the key/button sent from the pedal to do what what you want just like mapping a key on the keyboard to a function...
This is the pedal he has

Windows auto loads drivers for it though it gets lost in a mess of Human Interface Devices in the device manager so I'm not 100% sure which it is
I tried to Debug capture if it is getting a signal from anything from it but not seeing it.
This is what we're trying to work with with it:
You can see how I just did that in the browser,
That is a screen of the Lyrics, and here is a sheet music
and this is in the gallery.
However, he has an INSANELY massive collection, and his HTML pages link to each other so it is a large directory, and then pull up the sheet music via a link on the lyrics page. What I am imagining is that you'd click the link on lyrics page and it would ask "do you want to use gallery or other program" dialog.
What would be nice is mapping the foot pedal to that, or at least using finger swipe but I'm not sure how to in the browser.
You'll probably need to write a quick app for this. Something that will read the list of files, htm/png's whatever, provide a list, let the user pick a song and then display it, I'll bet that thing acts like a keyboard so all you'd need to do is listen for keyboard events, no driver required, and act accordingly, aka displaying the next sheet, etc.
What do ya use to listen for keyboard inputs? is that in DDMS? I'm not seeing any changes in the running log at the bottom of the app.
We both agree this is ALMOST perfect for him, but he may need bigger. The tab itself works great but when the sheet music is on it it's a tiny bit hard to read at the distance he needs.
He swears that Asus and Viewsonic are both having a 12" tab coming out but I can't find much info on that. What I did find has an i5 processor so that's a bit much. Whats the biggest android tab?

[APP] AirStream - AirPlay your Music from your Android

Hi all,
I know there are several apps who allow you to emulate the AirPlay function on your android device, but I was rather surprised to see that this one wasn't mentioned anywhere on the forums. Basically in 1 step you can use the AirPlay from your Android device.
I use Spotify a lot and after buying a Sony CMT-BT80WB which has Bluetooth®, NFC, Wi-Fi, DLNA and AirPlay it was very disappointing to find out that the new Spotify Connect feature doesn't work with it. However with this app it works like a charm I've been using the app for a couple of days and it works so well that I paid for it right away - yes, you can pay for it if you don't want interruptions, but for making AirPlay possible straight from my Android it's well worth to pay a couple of bucks.

Needless to say that it's not my app - just wanted to share with anyone who had the same issues as I had.
Great that you wrote this thread! Im about to purchase a LG G2. I now have a iphone and ipad plus two airport express'es that I Airplay to without any trouble. And i want to keep using airplay when i purchase an android phone, as bluetooth sucks in comparison.
I havent found any video at all showing how well AirStream or AirAudio works. Could anyone please record a video that shows how it works. Is it as easy and as good as on an iOS-device? Any hiccups?
How do you control volume? How do you activate Airplay? Like slide down the top bar and activate it?
Please show it off before i go buy myself an lg g2 and start rooting to notice it doesnt work as i expect it to!?
Thank you!
I've been playing with all of these apps over the last week or so but am hitting some problems. I used something called AirAudio to stream ANY sounds playing on one device to another (This is perfect for things like Spotify etc.). I massively recommend AirAudio as an app to test out.
I have a couple of old android phones setup around my house which have speakers connected to them. I run Bubbleupnp on each of those devices which then effectively sets them up as DLNA libraries and renderers. I have two other devices setup - an android tablet and a QNAP NAS. My QNAP NAS supports DLNA and this is where my music library is stored. The android tablet is used as a controller, again running Bubbleupnp, where I can choose the NAS as the library and either of the android devices as speakers. This works great.
One problem is that with Bubbleupnp, it is only possible to select one renderer which means it is not possible to stream to multiple speakers at the same time. E.g. I want to stream to my kitchen and my living room at the same time with the music completely in sync. Another problem is that when using Bubbleupnp, music sent to the renderer must be from a library and cannot be live streaming on the controller device (E.g. Spotify, Youtube etc.).
I then found AirAudio which actually fixed both of the issue (Sort of). Firstly, when running AirAudio on a rooted device, you can push any sounds from the controller device to any of the DLNA renderers (E.g. Spotify). Secondly, it is possible to stream to multiple DLNA renderers at the same time (Obviously, Bubbleupnp still needs to be running on these devices to make them DLNA devices). The only problem here is that when sending to multiple renderers at the same time, they are not in sync. The is due to the actual streaming being performed on the individual devices and therefore they all perform differently.
I emailed the AirAudio development team and they were extremely helpful in explaining the details of this to me and even recommended some other apps to try which might help. The apps which they recommended were Android HiFi and AirBubble where it is possible to set different delays for the different renderers. I am yet to actually try this yet as I imagine that the delay is not exactly the same each time I try and play music and therefore the delay will need to be altered regularly (Bit of pain).
This whole problem is a limitation of DLNA - you cannot synchronise multiple devices. Apparently you can synchronise multiple AirPlay devices?
So, after all of that, my question is, 'Is it possible to turn an Android device into a AirPlay device?' The developers at AirAudio seemed to think that audio synchronisation of AirPlay receivers for Android is not supported, if this is true, does anyone know why? Seems mad that something as powerful as an Android phone can't be an AirPlay device.
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Dan

Use BubbleUPnP (free) - it's WAY better than anything. You could also try AllCast (free), a bit more basic. I use/d them on my LG G4 and Nexus 6P for connecting to Chinese DLNA products, Chromecasts, Samsung, and LG smart TVs.

I don't know yet because I don't have my phone yet, sorry. It arrives this week for me. Maybe someone else can chime in with their experience until I can test mine for you.
Came back with more information. I'm sure it's not phone fault. It's something related to WiFi router configuration. I have an Asus AC68U. Anyone got a suggestion about how to setup router? Still searching.
Just to let you know guys
I successfully mirror share my phone screen on tv screen by installing Google Home application on the phone.
I am regularly connecting to my Samsung Smart tv 2014 using mirror share without any trouble on mate 9.
I am facing the same problem. There seems to be no solution. Have you found it out?
How about mirror sharing to a pc? On my surface pro 4, you can use the Connect app to start the wireless streaming. My phone sees the SP4 in mirror sharing and attempts to connect but doesn't succeed. Any ideas how to fix it?
For the record, on my LG TV it wouldn't connect until I selected the option 'Fast connect' instead of 'normal'.

Mirror share is an Android feature and whichever TV have the compatibility should work rightaway. If both devices are connected to Same network and you launch mirror share on mate 9, your TV will be automatically displayed.

Question TB-J706F Need HDMI Output

Have any of you tried to connect the tablet to a monitor with a HDMI connection?
What adapter WORKS.
I have on the j716. My monitor has usbc input, that works fine, and I also have a cheap choetech USBC to hdmi convertor(I bought 3 years ago), also fine. I doubt anything special is needed. One thing I did find is zui 13 added more options, unless I failed to find them on earlier version.

P11 Pro TB-J706F.
Is there a setting I need to change before/after connecting the adapter and the TV? All I did was connect it to the tablet, then to the TV and got nothing on the TV screen.
I ordered a Xiaoxin Pad Pro TB-J706F but I don't have it yet, hope someone else can help you.
So I got my tablet and I bought an adapter and it works perfectly
It's called USAMS U22, paid it around 18$
Does it change the aspect ratio to 16:9?
No, it mirrors the screen, so it had some black bars all around, it was not bad but in my TV I can adjust the zoom vertical and horizontal so now I have no black bars.
In the post I linked previously it says it can be used as second screen with native resolution with some tinkering on adb but I did not try yet.
Also to answer @flhthemi I did not have to change any setting, when I plugged in the cable it asked me if I wanted the sound to go on HDMI or internal and it just worked.
This is the item but I bought it locally in a shop

Can you post the brand and model number please?
Brand: USAMS
Model: US-SJ282
Name: U22 Type C to HDMI 4K HD Adapter Cable(Female),15cm
There is also (I do NOT have this one):
Model: US-SJ281
Name: U21 Type C to HDMI 4K HD Cable(Male),1.8m
I bought it at a retail shop, online I found this in Aliexpress:
https://www.aliexpress.com/i/32960700912.html
even if it says it's not available you can check the details and maybe find another seller
@flhthemi I think you need to check what the one you bought supports because probably any USB C To HDMI Cable([email protected]) should work.
Edit 2
Looks like yours is 4k (3840x2160)@30hz
@MrCrayon Thanks so much for the info! I'm going to try and find one of these in a couple days as I'm out of town right now.
EDIT: Well this is strange...the adapter I had already bought, that didn't work, is now working. Mighty strange.
I used this Hub https://pt.aliexpress.com/item/1005003027956343.html?spm=a2g0o.9042311.0.0.f728b90apPwr7u and could connect to a TV/Monitor.
I bought a Steam Deck Dockingstation and my Lenovo just won't connect, a message briefly pops up about selecting an HDMI device but it constantly goes away and appears again.
Any suggestion?
