The CEO of Jolla has said in an interview that "Enabling Sailfish for a device such as Galaxy S3 [and other devices] is something that any community member [can] do.".
Since there doesn't appear to be any code or anything disclosed to the public (most importantly Silica UI), apart from the SDK, how is this possible? Are porters required to extract a filesystem from the SDK and work from there?
I would be very interested in porting Sailfish to the Xperia U if I knew how.

Hi everyone,
I apologize if if this is not the appropriate place to post this info, but I thought it would be of interest to some people here. You may have seen stories in the news recently about the privacy-monitoring extension for Android called TaintDroid that was developed by researchers at Penn State, Intel Labs, and Duke University. An excellent summary can be found on Ars Technica.
The reason I'm posting to this forum is that we are proud to have made our source code available last night. If you want to play around with the code, you can find it at the TaintDroid website (search "taintdroid appanalysis"). Along with links to the source code, you will find instructions for getting the code up and running on a Nexus One. We have also set up a Google Group for users who want to discuss anything related to the project.
Our only caveats are that we are merely researchers so 1) you use the code at your own risk, and 2) we do not have the resources to offer proper support. We hope that by releasing the code to the public a self-sustaining community of interested users will form.
We hope that you find our code interesting and useful. Happy hacking!

Thanks for releasing the code. Look forward to using it on an incredible rom soon.

I'm assuming that's the link. Couple of questions.
1.I see it's on 2.1 rom, does it work with 2.2? Especially as it uses the 2.6.32 kernel.
2.Since the Desire is basically a Nexus One with sense, has it been tested on that platform or with sense?
Thanks for releasing the source and instructions!
This is what Android needs, as Google is not taking good care of the privacy of it's users.
It's impossible to install apps now, because most of them want really wide rights, but you have no idea what they do with those rights.
TaintDroid at least gives a possibility to peek into what is being leaked.
Soon some of the app makers will start to encrypt their calls to try and and mask what they are leaking. If/when this happens, it should be a warning sign to users about that particular app.
Hi Everybody.
I saw some videos with storyboard in iOS development. I take interest into this project. I'm going to design and try to implement a such similar thing as long term just for fun project. Not sure yet, but I hope it will be alive and I will still want to do it. I understand this project is not small so I am looking for co-developers to work on it together. I am experienced Android developer and have experience developing desktop apps. Honestly I am familiar with OSX development, but I think I have very poor experience with it. I am looking forward and develop prototype native application for OSX and later, may be, for Windows.
Just as note, I want it to be as big live parser and designer, so it will use real source code of android project and does not require any additional libraries or frameworks to be integrated into Android project.
If you are not familiar with storyboard in iOS, please just look at screenshot and you will understand why android designer sucks.
Thank you and let me know if you are interested in this.
p.s. I hope I've chosen right thread to post a such topic.
As part of a project I have to develop an application to replace android default lock screen or tweak it. From my interaction with seniors kernel development on samsung is tricky because of lack of documentation and flexibility.

The UBports Project
What is The UBports Project?
Ubports team of developers and a meeting place for developers that wish to port Ubuntu Touch to as many devices as possible, This is a place where Developers can talk to other developers and learn from each other and help push Ubuntu to more devices as teams, or by yourself but with community support if you wish.
If you’re a user of a device without much developer knowledge this is also a place you can help out, you could try to link developers together if you think they could help, you could send a link, or help by throwing a bone, donate devices or money for things such as OTA (over the air) update servers, web server, CI servers and other money costing services and items!
A user can also get some help if they spot a bug or have any issues with there Ubuntu Touch Device, there are many Developers and Users that would love to help you with any problem you have!
This is a place for Users and Developers to Play, I mean Port nicely!
What is Ubuntu Touch:
Ubuntu Touch is a new OS to mobile devices, developed by canonical. The biggest problem with it now is the lack of support to different devices, that is what we want to change…
So are you interested in Ubuntu touch? Does it look like something you would use as a daily driver? or may you just be curious on what this all is about, Join us at the forum or download Ubuntu touch to your device. If the device is not listed in the device page, you can vote on your device to get ported.
What Devices do you support?
Currently we only support the OnePlus One, and we will try our best to port the new OnePlus Two as fast as it's out. That said, we are always looking to port new devices!
Device page: devices.ubports.com
Cannot find your device? send an email to [email protected] with your device, and I will add it to the list.
Are you a developer?
Join us make Ubuntu Touch available on a number of different devices, and also make it stable and safe to use as a daily driver… Instead of working alone, join our community and get your device supported as a official UBports, then your device will get OTA servers, Download servers, CI for builds and support by other UBports developers.
Any question, please let me know! comment bellow or join our forum at forums.ubports.com
Maybe some of you have already seen the the crowd funded project to develop the Volla Phone with a Google-free custom ROM, that is now close to shipping. This is just the beginning of the next steps. We want to make an alternative for Stock Android popular for consumers and need to reinforce the developer team.
We also want to publish the source code of this system on GitHub and already started with the custom Volla Launcher. You can find our GitHub project by the name "hellovolla".
Does someone know freelancers, that are interested to contribute in part time? Or can you recommend job boards to find them? The Volla project is an idealistic project to protect the users privacy and make this available for consumers, that are not able to flash a Smartphone on their own.
Here is the link of our job offering: https://volla.online/blog/files/october-jobs.html
In case, that his link is blocked you can combine volla-dot-online with /blog/files/october-jobs.html
Unfortunately I can't help directly but hope for lot's of answers for you!
