Which Modules in the X-posed Framework drain the most battery for you?
Personally I find Unicon and Gravity box pretty big drains. I know most people suggest that you remove the module for a few days and then see better battery life, and different phones handle them separately. But hey...knowing doesn't hurt
So which Mods drain the most battery life for you?
How does GravityBox drain the battery? It's not like it runs in the background constantly syncing or anything like that.

If you have issues with GravityBox draining battery, send evidence to the dev so the issue can be resolved.
It's absolutely perfect on my end. Maybe try Greenifying it.

None of them do for me. ...and I couldn't understand why one would either.
I ran stock rom unrooted for a month before rooting and installing xposed with the gravity box module. After running GB for a month now I can confidently say there is ZERO difference in my battery life. Nothing has changed except for my ability to tweak the look and functions of Googles stock software. Imo the best thing that has happened to Android since my Eris days!
Nexus5
I think you have battery drain from something else. Gb doesn't drain it just changes where the clock is or the battery icon changed.

Couple questions;
Does rooting your phone = more drain on the batte? Seems like I got better battery life when it was bone stock.
Does themeing help with draining the battery?
Sorry if these are stupid questions but it seems like I had better battery life out the box on my phone. I'm running SYnergy r60 and it's themed with Eye Candy. I have been checking the things running in the background and it's doesn't seen like anything more is running then in stock. I have WiFi turned on at and work and get pretty good service in the building. But again it still seemed better stock.

If you concerned about battery life then you should try "Clean Rom & Clean kernel". They based on stock rom and provide good performance and very good on battery life.
Different roms will have different effects on battery.
I am stock, stock recovery, bootloader still locked - but rooted.
As far as rooting alone, i'm seeing no difference in battery life.
Once you go flashing things, it's a whole new ballgame.
The problem with flashing roms/kernels is that you are continuously doing it. So every couple days you flash a new rom, or kernel, or new mod. So your phone never really has time to collaborate and settle in. Technically you're suppose to give a kernel and rom a couple days before judging battery. But we rarely do that. Plus files can get left behind from previous dirty flashes that can affect battery life. There's just a lot more ways that battery life can take a hit when flashing roms/kernels, but it can also get you significantly better battery life.

Rooting itself makes no difference. Certain services and programs that require root could drain more battery but that is obviously optional.

It could hurt or help it but only to a small degree. Black uses the least power to display and white uses the most. Overall, it isn't something to stress over too much.

Thanks for the info. I didn't think it would be a huge drain but wasn't sure.
Not sure if it's coincidence, but I reflashed r60 but didn't reflash Eye Candy and it seems the battery is doing much better.
My N5 had been completely stock up until a few weeks ago when I decided to root and start using xposed framework. Since then I have had significantly worse battery life. I think this has more to do with ART not being enabled than anything else but I can't say for sure. I was wondering if others have had the same experience and if there are any tips to squeeze more life out of my current setup. I already have greenified a bunch of apps, keep brightness low and have mobile data set to turn off shortly after locking the screen.
sounds like you are overthinking it. battery life is all dependent on how you personally use your phone, how you personally set it up, what apps you use, and very much the quality of your phone/data connection. roms, kernels, battery apps, and so on, wont really save your battery. roms, kernels, and mods can reduce your battery life though, by using badly written code. plus xposed can come with a large list of issues. and it doesnt make a difference if you use art or dalvik, battery will be the same.

My best battery life is on stock with xposed. But I use app opps in xposed to manage a number of apps. I constantly get 5 + hours sot. But as simms22 said battery life is highly dependent on your signal quality and your usage.

Art doesn't have much of an effect on battery in its current form. http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/0...ery-life-benchmarks-not-good-but-not-too-bad/
Xposed Framework itself shouldn't have any effect whatsoever on the battery life. That's not to say a module couldn't impact your battery consumption.
The best way to rid of battery draining issues is to use better battery stats and see what it says. (search the xda forums for the thread) You probably have a module with a wakelock. If you can't find it out from there, disable each module until you find the culprit. Otherwise, disable XPosed Framework for the time being.
Art may slightly increase battery life and performance, but some app incompatibilities may cause draining actually and as you know you won't be able to make use of XPosed without dalvik currently.
I was wondering how good rooted users could make the battery life with apps like Greenify etc.
Are there any users here that use rooted apps to extend battery life? If so how is it?
I am not rooted.
It seems to me I have better battery life since I got rid of greenify, lux and tasker. I never meant to just remove them, it's just I was getting random reboots so factory reset and have only installed a small bunch of apps since.
Didn't expect better battery life especially without lux which can dim the screen brightness much more then stock. On greenify, my take is, without root it cannot really hibernate the apps, I think it stops them altogether, so it takes more for them to start again, hence more battery drain.

Anyone noticed a slight improvement in the battery life of their V-10 after the stock Nougat update?
Yes but not a whole lot of improvement I still run out of battery near half my day. I need a 6,000 mAh battery
I've noticed a difference. Usually within an 8hr shift my phone would normally be between 20-30% but last night I still had 70% after the usual 8hrs.. I think it's a big improvement for my phone and battery.

That's a bulky battery, do you know if any of the 3800mAh batteries any good?

Not bad....Mine has improved from 20- 30% hours to 50-60% after 8 hours after my shift at work...decent but not as good as my V20

Are you using the stock, unrooted ROM?
I am using stock rom but the screen uses about 60-80% of battery life I am a very heavy user watching YouTube for hours and gaming so to be expected of any phone batteries life
---------- Post added at 07:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:01 PM ----------
I have not tried any other batteries other than the stock ones I use a otter box case so. Most none oem batteries won't fit
Yep gaming and high screen usage will definitely kill the OEM V10 battery....
So I'm on the update I have ran it oem stock, rooted with magisk, and with root and test build of xposed, oem stock has a nice battery improvement, but with root/magisk moduals, and xposed I think MM 6.0 Had better battery life. I think this will change after the official release of Xposed for N 7.0

I never rooted my V10, is the battery life on those ROMS you mentioned better than the stock ROM?
I've noticed great improvement since I have the perfect environment for Nougat's doze. Flat on a surface, screen off for a period of time. I went from 5-15 end of day to 70ish. Those who have the phone in their pocket, or are more active may want to pair with greenify's option to make doze more aggressive to see better battery life.
Root has a small drain but, N 7.0 is awesome and even with magisk root installed its better than stock MM 6.0. If you ever went to using xposed then MM 6.0 with Xposed still wins in terms of running a modified system. MM only wins because its able to run a official build of xposed... I can't tell someone to get root If they don't know it well, but the new N 7.0 is a good update that adds batterylife
I've rooted several phones and tablets in the past, I haven't bothered to root my V10, been happy using the stock ROM

By rooting your phone, you get the ability to change stuff deeper into the phones software, which means that you can install apps that will do the trick for you. Some of them require Root access and some require even deeper changes to your device software by using xposed framework. By using such software you can stretch your battery life by too much. I remember i managed to get my One Plus One to drain just 0.3% (thats 13 days battery life without using the screen ofc) per hour, but it cost me some slow sync of apps like gmail, facebook, messenger, whats up etc. Thats because i forced these apps to check for updates once every 5-6 hours or so. So you don't have to use a custom ROM in order to get root or xposed framework.
So I use my phone like all day screen on time is like 9h.... I'm running the 10000mah huge battery that has the large. .7inch thick case it's on amazon. But any way my system hasn't been great on battery life since I use tones of apps and mods ect ect.... I am only posting this to say a few things. I don't like the unofficial xposed framework all that much on N 7.0 I love the update though my battery life is unstable at best. If you are going full out mod crazy like I am use battery saver ware it turns on immediately and run it all day. Some days I go all-day at work and still have 70% battery left by 6pm other days I run it down to 50% by 6pm... Without battery saver on though it's not good battery life. Right now I'm on Nougat with magisk 13.3 viper audio xposed v24 and tones of mods... With all the add-on stuff I am thinking something is using very low optimization.... MM was a little more stable and predictable if you are happy with stock roms then the nougat update plus running battery saver on full time should give really good results
Battery life
Yes man, in short the battery life of this device is completely, as you mentioned, "unstable".

Hey guys. After all the discussion about battery drain while idle, i was curious if Greenify actually helps with battery drain, anymore, or if Google had improved the OS efficiency enough that this app was no longer necessary. I tracked my battery use overnight, and it's close to 0.5% per hour, so about what people were reporting in the battery use thread (with Greenify installed and active). Thanks much!

A 0.5%/hr idle drain is very acceptable, in my opinion. Also, in my opinion, apps like Greenify haven't been needed in a long time. In fact, they can sometimes cause more harm than good (I recall at least 2 people with either a Pixel 6 or 7 who were having problems that were caused by Greenify.)
If you have an app that likes to use more resources than it should in the background, I would recommend just battery restricting it.

Great! That aligns well with my own thoughts. I got burned once by one of those "battery saver" apps that was really a virus. I'll take Greenify off and see what i get.
Agree with a lot of the above. Android and certain devs really have the battery thing locked in, especially compared to 4-5 years ago. I use to have 3ish apps like Greenify running back in the day but there's not much value now from my experience.
Even straight android out of the box on the 6a is pretty damn good for battery longevity - almost any rom really is great now. Personally running the velocity rom + mvk combo and life is good lol.
