What’s the different between branded power bank and generic power bank?
Branded power bank mostly sell in REAL CAPACITY. Generic power bank mostly sell in MARKING CAPACITY. That’s the reason why you will never see any branded power bank (standard size) have anything as high as 30000mAh – 50000mAh. That’s also the reason why a good 12000-13000mAh power bank are able to charge more or about the same like the market 30000-50000mAh power bank
Is it true branded power bank won’t explode and generic power bank will explode?
Anything to do with battery, will have chance to explode. No matter it’s branded power bank or generic power bank. But chances for both branded and generic power bank to explode are near to 0%.If power b

Portable Backup Power / Solar Power

Trying to find gadgets of the type "external portable power".
That is power sources that is light enough to carry in a backpack or pocket, and have a battery (or in my dreams a fuel cell...) that can be plugged into SGS mini usb port for "emergency" power.
Also of interest is solar powered solutions, maybe to charge said portable power device while relaxing at the beach.
I believe this is what you are looking for:
spider-foot. com/1900mah-extended-backup-battery-power-charger-for-cell-phones-with-micro-usb-charging-port-1900mic-p-759.html
Ive seen a solar + wind up one as well, but not sure how good that would work.
There are few micro usb backup battery packs. Some are sealed rechargeable batteries (like the one in above post) while others allows you to use standard AA size ones (these are good in an emergency).
But IMO better to have a spare battery. That way you don’t have to wait for the phone to charge, you get instant power. Since SGS s batteries are very small you can even carry one in your pocket.
Personally I'd prefer something that used AA/AAA batteries. That way I can carry LSD batteries, and I can use a proper conditioner/analyser/charger on them to keep them in decent condition. It also means the phone doesn't need to get turned off at any point - I find mine isn't great after a restart for quite a while. Finally very high quality batteries are not that expensive for AA/AAA and you know what you're getting, aftermarket mobile batteries can be a little bit risky and performance can vary.
I use a solution from Philips, it is called Power2Go. I use the SCE4430. Works great, only thing is that it does not support micro usb out of the box. But a standard micro usb cable does the trick. Used this also on a Nintendo DS.

[Q] Solar Charger
Hey guys,
First post here and it may end up costing me a bit soo..
Would it be possible to harvest one of these solar phone chargers you see on ebay and build it into the backplate of the phone?
I know it may not be powerful enough to charge your phone, but maybe we can extend the life when we just need those few extra hours.
So, really, does anyone know what we would need? I have little to know electronics experience so not sure what i'm looking for but i'm more than willing to actually do it if someone is able to explain what/how its done.
No, it's enough for you to charge a phone, even other more powerful device. But first of all you need a good solar cell.
i got one from DX it works fantastic!
4200mAh Portable Dual-Panel Solar Power Battery Pack for Cell Phones and USB Gadgets
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.40210
just leave it by any window, or light source and it turns it back into energy, then just plug your phone into the pack for recharge
you can easily recharge twice with a full charge
red light = charging
no light = off
green light = in use
comes with all the plugs for our phones
and a build in LED flashlight
it can also be charged via USB if you are in a hurry, and can't take advantage of the free light source recharge
i use it mostly for long outdooring like camping / picnics, and you know that even 3x1500 mAh will not last you for a day/week
you can get a full charge in just 1 day (from sun rise to sun down) even on a cloudy rainy sky
But what about physically attaching a panel to the back so I don't have to carry extra stuff? Is it possible? How would I wire it up?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
that works, but you wont be able to use the phone for like a whole day meanwhile waiting for it to charge, and be drained almost instantly
Have a look here>>>http://tinyurl.com/y2nrvsv
I have ordered one of these will do a small review when it arrives>>>http://tinyurl.com/2fun3k6
I have this traditional solution for emergency charging: http://www.portablepowersupplies.co.uk/
They have Solar Charger, too.
that solar one from portable uk is okay, i only like the "bag" idea of it, but it's shy in power & recharge rate when competing againts the 4200 mAh beast from DX
mini/micro portable power pack
check this out

I have one, it has to be charge via usb, but I do that while I am on my laptop, and the bonus is that it will charge anything that connects via a mini/micro connection,

And leave the phone under the sun ?? A very bad idea, the heat will surely damage your phone.

Agreed
I don't think a little solar panel on the back of the phone will be capable of putting out that much power
I don't know about you but my phone spends most of its time inside my pocket so it is rarely out in the sun for the solar panel to work
Just carry a spare battery or get yourself the Samsung extended battery

It will extend your battery life without having to leave the phone lying in the sun
Solar charger for SGS and other mobiles.
Few days ago I was searching for the Solar charger for my SGS in India. In local stores I brought 2 solar chargers but these are the china made chargers with very low quality internal battery.
Then one of my friend suggest me the Amzer 3500 mAh Battery Backup Solar Charger and Solio Emergency Mono Solar Hybrid Charger.
I ordered the Amzer 3500 mAh Battery Backup Solar Charger and believe me, the charger is one of the essential accessory for every mobile phone.
Also this Charger is available in India, USA and UK regions.
For India, take a look at this, http://www.fommy.co.in/Amzer-3500-mAh-Battery-Backup-Solar-Charger-P83981.htm
For USA and UK, visit http://www.fommy.com/
the one i mentioned back in post #8 is way better and cheaper
and free shipping with tracking number
trusted site
actually i hv read all the backup power all u guys suggest but i found that these all are just rebranding some chinese low quality products and it cant survive for long and there r some potential hazard that may end up damaging our sgs...i hv tried solar charger and some portable backup power before, the solar charger dun hv a high efficiency to exchange solar energy to electrical energy...it takes me too long time to charge it and it can only recharge the battery once. for the backup power, the mAh thing is not accurate, u need to try it yourself n c how many cycles u can charge the stock battery in order to estimate the true backup power battery capacity
I love my PORTAPOW
Received it yesterday.
5000 mAH USB rechargeable battery in a piano black case.
Fantastic.
This means I can go out on an all-day hike with GPS on.(Yep, I'm that sad)
The phone battery would last 2- 2 1/2 hours max with GPS (and MyTracks or similar on) while hiking.
Really good build quality.
Really good price.
(PS I am in no way connected with the company etc...)

How many charges can you get out of the Power Bank?

I have a 5,000 mah power bank from EasyAcc. It's nice that it has a built in MicroUSB cable but it doesn't seem to last very long. It only charged my OPO from 35% to 95% before emptying out. The OnePlus Power Bank advertises "three full charges" and I haven't seen any reviews that really test the true capacity, they all just mention the price and looks.
You're probably better off asking this on the OnePlus forums, they should have an entire section for the power bank there.

pls check if the power bank is fully charged ? As a professional power bank supplier, we normaly will charge the power bank in our workshop(we call it aging), but not 100% charged. And the electricity will disappear with the long time to ship to you.

Which Portable Power Bank?

Hello, im looking for a good portable power bank without solar charging (or with if it doesnt effect the price) and around 20-50k mAh capacity.
I'd like to not spend more than 20GBP and the product to be certified for safety reasons, im not feeling well to walk around like a jihadist
Thanks
If however, you have a long trip planned or lots of devices to keep topped up, then take a 20000mAh Power Bank. All the portable chargers featured in the list have a minimum capacity of 20000mAh and are capable of charging most phones over 10 times.
I like the easyacc 20000 power bank, coz it has increative two input, which can save half time for me to recharge it. And the four outputs with the smart technology, just like the anker IQ technology. It means whatever devices do you use, it can get you best power. So good for fast charging.

The Zerolemon 20,000 mAh solar power pank is currently listed for $47.78 but if you use the coupon code Z36GZOGN at checkout you can get it for $19.99. The reviews are good and you can't beat the price. I just purchased one for backup but can't directly give you a review since it hasn't been delivered yet. You can find the battery here...

Unfortunately they don't ship to my country
The best charging banks are...
Anker PowerCore+ 10050: The World's Smallest 10000mAh Portable Charger with Premium Aluminum Shell and Qualcomm Certified Quick Charge 2.0 Technology (Black)
or
Aukey Quick Charge 2.0 10400mAh Portable External Battery Fast Charger (16.2W / 5V 9V 12V Supported, Quick Output) for S6, S6 Edge - Silver
The first one is very small for the size and battery mah, it has quick charge and top quality batteries
I'd highly recommend the anker powercore+ 26800
it has 3 ports, 1 that supports quick charge 2.0 (also known as Adaptive Fast Charge) and a 10-stage charge indicator. comes with a nice cushy mesh bag for carrying. 26800mah
on Amazon if you scroll down the page a little there should be a promo code to take off about 25% of the price. in the Specials and Promotions section
edit: DO NOT buy Aukey, they play tricks with the advertising on how much power they can put out, and operate components higher than they're designed for.

yep that's the one! highly recommend it. also I would suggest getting the Anker 6ft. gold plated nylon charge cord because the one that comes with the power bank is very short and won't tolerate much abuse from an incident like taking a full force tug from a hefty power bank being tugged further than the cord will reach. you'll want a tough charger.
I've liked the RAVPower Car Jump Starter power banks. I got one over the holidays on special and the dual purpose has saved me in a few different situations of either dead car or phone battery.
I own the AUKEY PB-T1 10000mAh with Qualcomm 2.0 support for input and output! That's a stunning power bank, highly recommended!
But today I would buy an "Quick Charge 3.0 RAVPower TURBO 20.100mAh Powerbank Qualcomm QC 3.0 Technologie USB-C/Type-C (5V/3A)" With two outputs and Qualcomm 3.0 input and output. Samsung Note 4 only use Qualcomm 2.0 but Qualcomm 3.0 is backward compatible with version 2.0.
Qualcomm 3.0 input should give the power bank an extremly fast charging time (30 min is advertised by the manufacturer).
Just wanted to chime in.
I got an EasyAcc Quick Charge 2.0 20,000mAh Portable External Battery
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0142925GQ/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_u6k1wbQPDTWJ2
I love it! It has enough power to fully charge my phone and tablet every night for about 5 days. I recently went on a week-long business trip and I used it to charge my phone, tablet, 3DS and Vita. I only had to recharge the battery once the entire week.

Best cable, power brick and power bank

Hi everyone, I'm gonna change the USB board of my i-9505 which now is too much ruined by using Chinese cables for too long. I'm looking for 2 good cables(one around 2-3 meters for my powerbrick and a shorter one for my power bank), which can easily support 5V 2A, and maybe compatible with the latest quick charging technology (if it doesn't affect price too much). Moreover I'm searching for a good power brick capable of 5V 2A or 5V 2.4A and a big good quality power bank (around 15000 or 20000 mah) capable of 2 or 2.4A and quick charge compatible, again if it doesn't affect price too much. I've heard about Anker making good products...what could you suggest me, or what are you currently using?
For the cable, you should really get one of those thick ones. They allow more current to pass through.
Best cables:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Charg...&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00
I have a bunch of these and I use them in all my chargers.
As for a power brick, I have an 18000 mah brick but it's way too big. The product I ordered doesn't existing on Amazon anymore so I can't share a link to it.
It is similar to this model: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M6VA7OU?psc=1
I just got a smaller power bank because the 18000 was way too big and heavy for normal use.
This one is small and light enough to carry in my back pack all the time and it works great. I've used it to recharge by phone 3 times before it needed to be recharged itself.
http://www.amazon.com/Emie-Memo-000...1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage
For cords, the "Anker" pacsks avail at amazon work great. (sorry i cant post links). They sell many different lengths and quantities.
Power bank - Anker Astro E5 16000. Great price with Panasonic cells

My power bank wont charge my phone unless it charges something else

Hello I recently bought a 20000mAh Dual USB Power Bank Case Kit 6X 18650 (Power Bank) and I tried to charge my phone (Samsung galaxy S4), but it doesn't seem to charge UNLESS something else is charging with my phone. I tried with more than 3 cables that usually work and it doesn't change anything. Before that, I had chinese power banks and it was working but this time, it doesn't.
Thanks for reading.
some power bank have auto off features when there is no amp request
some batteries will cut off charging at initial charge phase to check it self.
that powerbank suck. can't it wait just few more seconds?
