[Q] Update firmware with s-on - HTC Sensation

Dear All,

Firmware: 3.19.401.101 CL157254 release keys
HBOOT 1.29.0000
4XTRecovery v1.0.0.5 RC3
and i want to update firmware to 3.33
thanks.

Updating firmware is not possible with S-ON. You'll need to go for S-off with the wire trick.

Hi,
Look HERE
Go for the 3.33 universal.
It will update your firmware and radio.
You gain nothing but a locked bootloader by updating your hboot.

[Q] Should I update HBoot and Radio?

I want to upgrade my device's ROM to the latest stable CM9.
This is my current boot loader screen data:
Code:
**** LOCKED ****
PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.18.0000
RADIO-10.14.9035.02_2
eMMC-boot
Should I upgrade my HBoot or Radio before installing CM9 rom? If so, why?
P.S - I use Revolutionary 0.4pre4 in-order to root it.

[Q] Rebranding issue

Hi everyone,
I wanted to rebrand my Sensation to exchange it due to some hardware-issues.
I restored the CID and made it S-ON but when i tried to install the latest RUU (for vodafone, germany:
RUU_PYRAMID_ICS_Vodafone_DE_3.32.162.11_R_Radio_11.69A.3504.00U_11.23.3504.07_M2_release_251539_signed)
I recieved an error 140 because of wrong update client.
So do I have to downgrade the firmware or the hboot? And how do I do it?
current firmware-version: 3.33.401.106
current hboot-version:1.29.0000

because now you have S-ON you can't use a ruu with lower firmware than yours
you should do that when you were still S-OFF
now with S-ON you can use a ruu only with 3.33 firmware version
otherwise S-OFF again and then downgrade the firmware to 3.32

there is NO difference in the hboot's so no point updating it and even if you did when you s-offf again you will be back to the 1.27 hboot so if you did update it would be pointless
my phone came with hboot 1.29 once i gained s-off it was back to hboot 1.27 because NO1 has yet made hboot 1.29 s-off ( no1 has patched the 1.29 hboot for s-off users ) which means yes you can update but there's no point either way you will always end up back on hboot 1.27 after using s-off tools
i have attatched the new 1.29 hboot but there is still no point as when you use s-off again you will like i said end up back at 1.27
what about firmware 3.33

a patched hboot is when the current security is set to s-off rather than s-on. stock hboot 1.29 has security in the hboot set to s-on

Afaik revolutionary/jupuntobear give full radio s-off so any hboot you switch to will be s-off afterwards. Those patched hboots are for the htcdev bootloader unlocking to allow fastboot commands ect

My question is this:
I can? Place a cooked ROM with android 4.2.2 and Sense 5?, Having HBOOT 1.14? eye now I'm on android 4.0.4 manufactures, I have the SuperCID, Unlocked bootloader, root the phone and installed the TWRP Recovery
Or did I have to apply a RUU (3.18.502.6) to be on HBOOT 2.14??? and so to upgrade to android 4.2.2???
If I apply the RUU'll have to repeat the process bara release the bootloader, root and install the Recovery?
Thanks mates!
excuse my bad English
You can go ahead and install a custom Sense 5 Android 4.2.2 with your current setup. You'll need to install the Beastmode kernel though or you'll suffer signal loss and reboots. The other option is to upgrade to the 2.15 firmware package.

ok I understand correctly, if it does not work for my rom Kernel 4.2.2 Beastmode more, as I get to the 2.15 firmware upgrade package?
Very Grateful for your previous answer : Bueno:
Install the ROM and the Beastmode kernel together and you'll be fine.

When you flash a ROM (with S-off) both the ROM and kernel are replaced, so it doesn't actually matter what ROM and kernel you are coming from.
Sense 5 custom ROMs will install fine on any hboot. But some folks will get signal drops and random reboots. Solution is to either flash Beastmode kernel or flash the 2.15 firmware.
