After 4.3 update, car charger won't work. - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I've found a number of threads pertaining to this issue on the s4 but was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue. I've tried numerous chargers, including an official Verizon car charger but none will work. Though a USB cable variant will work, which doesn't make any sense. I even went to Verizon's support site (useless) and they suggested a factory reset. This should only be a last resort for, in my opinion, a software bug and guess what? It still didn't work. I'm at a loss here and was wondering if anyone had suggestions. My girlfriends s4 will charge using the same car charger but my s3 won't. I took the official update, just FYI.

So after 30 minutes with Verizon tech support and hard resetting my phone numerous times my phone will not charge using a car charger. Even though I have insurance Verizon doesn't want to send me a new phone for their fear of the same problem happening again due to the Verizon's and Samsung's recognition of the software update problem. So both parties are aware of this issue but neither one can give an immediate fix. Of course if I push the issue they'll send me a new phone..Guess I'll mull this over and see what I want to do.

Thanks. But ive tried 6 different chargers on 5 different cars. No go.

I have a similar issue. No car charger works for me, but the USB connection in my car will charge my phone. Also an A/C charger that puts out less than 1A doesn't work, it just keeps my phone awake, screen on, and drains the battery. 1A or more and I'm cool.
I really don't know why this happens. It used to charge on anything, AC or DC, but now it's super selective. This happened to me on CM 10.3, although now I'm on CM 11 and it still happens. I dirty flashed CM 11, I'll probably do a complete wipe soon, reflash CM 11 and see what happens with the charging issue.

Charge state not changing...

Last weekend, I noticed that my phone e was no longer logging changes in charge state with battery indicator pro. I thought the program was the problem and removed it. The problem remained, so I decided to see how far it went. Even with the phone off, plugging it in won't make the white battery appear on the screen, even though the phone IS charging.
Without performing a factory reset just as a test, can anyone think of any reasons this might happen?
At&t version

Bought new in October.

A-ha! You are correct! I hadn't considered that branch of my troubleshotting flowchart.
My phone doesn't recognize that it has been plugged in to a PC.
Thanks for the help!
I will research remedies for this problem.

Battery barely charging Evening draining while on charger!

Okay so this has been going on for a while now but never really paid much mind but now it has got to the point where the phone barely charges 10% in 40 minutes if I'm lucky! I installed AVT to keep in necessary apps from running but to no avail. What could be causing this and why? Verizon S3 running liquid smooth v2.9 OD'd to 1.2ghz thank you in advance

http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/104...em-micro-usb-charging-sync-cable?#commentsTry a different USB cable or battery
I had the same problem. My Battery was fine but I had to get a new charging cord.
I've already tried different charger/cord combinations thinking that is what it was but no luck. I've looked around the interweb, and found a lot of others having the same problem same are saying that it is a faulty connection on the main board? I really don't want to send it in to Samsung. Wonder of it would be easier to get a new phone versus sending it in? Any thoughts? Thanks also I am now running dirty unicorn 4.3.1 and I have not messed with the oc settings so whatever the room comes preset at is where the phone running at thanks again

Try a different cable. I was having the same problem a few days ago and was about to reflash because I was using the original brick/cable that came with my phone and was sure it couldn't be it but it was. Now charges fast like it used to.
was having the same trouble as you, switched out my cable and now i'm go as new.
I did buy a new car charger. I'll try that when I get home.
Partying in Vegas!

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Blaze 4G will no longer charge

I have a SGH-T769 (Blaze Galaxy S 4G) and I have rooted and put a Cyanogen Mod ROM on it (Note screen shots please!)
Here is the problem:
No matter what battery I use in it (I've tried 3 different ones - all known good - relative term) but it will not charge past ~5-7% now. I've tried the battery calibration application - probably 4-5 times now.
I have wiped the ROM (in the recovery menu) three times. New, never been used SD card. So, it's a clean phone (unless someone has an idea of something that I missed)
The battery(s) work and can get to a full charge in other SGH-T769 devices (T-Mobile stock).
Any other ideas on how to remedy this? It's driving me nuts.
What am I missing?
Glen
If you charge a battery in another phone to 100% and put it in your phone what % does it display? Also I recommend you either use CM 10 (everything works) or CM 11 (newest) as 10.2 was never really developed for our phone.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T769 using XDA Free mobile app
I'll look at that for sure
I just used the installer for my phone. You know, the application on the phone, then the Wind-blows installer. I'll update to the version you suggested.
As for the battery in another phone. It was my daughter's SGH-T769. She is able to charge this battery to 100%. I'll have to try that and see what happens.
Thank you for your suggestions.

No luck
I put the version that you had suggested. No luck.
My battery still stops charging at about 5% if I'm lucky.
I think it's a hardware problem. I'm thinking the micro USB port is somehow broken.
I'm going to research an induction charger. Try one out to see if it works. Either that or I'll look at a Galaxy SIII on eBay.

Only about 5%
Hey - I tried what you said - my battery - I took it and charged it in another phone until it was 100%. My phone says 0% and then after leaving it plugged in/charging for several hours (overnight) it only reached about 5%.
I have tried the wiping of the battery cache - twice.
If you know of any other tricks - I would be very appreciative.
Thanks - G

Hey - thank you for responding - I'm lucky to get about 20-30 minutes out of it. It's now only charging to about 3%.
The battery will say 100% in my wife's or daughter's phone.
Any ideas? I'm at a loss here.
Thanks - Glen

Yeah - I have
I kind of like this phone - however, I'm going to save some pennies and look at a Galaxy S III. I'm seeing them for around ~$100 USD now. Sometimes cheaper. I'd love a Galaxy S 5, but I've never been one to 'need' the latest and greatest. Let someone else pay for all the R&D I always say!
Thanks for your help - I appreciate it.

Charging paused temperature too high

Okay I've seen people already posting about these issues, but nothing ever seems to be figured out. Either the thread dies, or the person swapped it out. Well I'm not able to do that. So here we go.
I spent $20 on an I727 Galaxy S2 Skyrocket. The phone did not come with anything, but I have an S4 charger, and a Note 3 charger. So I figured wth I'll be fine in that department.
Anyway. The phone will not charge. It says "Charging paused temperature too high". If the phone is off, and I try to charge it, it shows a caution sign next to the battery.
When I got it, it was running some version of ICS. I flashed JB, but the problem is still there. Needless to say the cache partition has been wiped, and I have done a couple factory resets. If I'm not mistaken, these guys shipped with gingerbread. So if someone thinks that will help, I'll try it, but I don't want to use that old system.
So I looked into other fixes. I saw that a possibility is the charging ic. Is that located in the usb part, or the actual mainboard? I'm not good with soldering so I may be out $20 if that's the case.
So what do you guys think?
Also gonna add this. Phone was not In use for around two hours. I feel like that is waaaay too hot.

For comparison, here's my note 3 battery info. Running much cooler, and been in use muuuuuch longer.

I wish someone had some input. anything, guys.
I called Samsung, and the device is out of warranty. So the repair cost is $70, in case anyone wants to take this route. I do not. They couldn't tell me what was wrong.

Thanks. I ordered one last night off Ebay (all the Amazon ones were in China). It's supposed to be here in 2 days.
Have you tried to charge it by using usb cable connected to a computer? I think it could be charger problem, both chargers for s4 and note 3 have higher output current。Try a different charger with lower output current eg 1A.

The phone itself will limit the charging current, unless overriden via custom kernel, and since he's flashed a different rom I'd have to rule that out. Hopefully it's just a bad battery as that would be the cheapest fix...

I have tried using my desktop's usb port. Same thing. The only way I can get this thing to partially charge is by wrapping it in a cold pack. It gets that hot. Obviously I leave the battery out now for fear of a fire. Should have my replacement battery on Thursday.
Let me just add this really quick; just from the little bit that I have used this little guy, I think I may actually like it more than my note 3 (AT&T). It's just so easy to customize. With the Note 3, I'm so limited in what I can do.
Got the battery today. The problem still exists. What's next?

just a suggestion
1. open the phone as best as you can (remove battery and sim, memory cards)
2. use a q tip and rubbing alcohol and wipe everything you see, do it a few times
3. wait for 5 minutes, put phone back together
4. see if it works if not try step 5
5. remove all items again and put phone into 2 freezer (sandwich bags). I would suggest leave in there for 2 hours
6. remove from freezer and let sit for 30-60 minutes at room temp to warm up
now try charging
if that fails you can go extreme and freeze the phone remove and try charging it right away
let us know what happens
it was probably water damaged and shorted some of the circuits inside
Will try that out tomorrow. Thanks for the advice. I will let you know how it goes.

Still planning on trying today, but life is getting in the way. I'll pull the mainboard and usb port completely, and rub em down. The screen is fine, so I see no reason to subject it to anything.
Edit: I also got a hold of a local repair shop, and all the guy said was "Hi, honestly it's not worth fixing, you are better off buying a new phone. since the value of S2s is pretty low." He obviously doesn't get that this is not my main driver, and I am doing this for the sake of knowledge and fun.
Okay. I did the alcohol thing, which made it able to charge while powered off. It used to not even do that. It's in the freezer now.

Unfortunately the freezing method did not help. Also the moisture indicators show no signs of moisture in the phone.
