[Q] No GPS icon on CM.2 for Samsung SGH-959W - General Questions and Answers

I just upgraded my Samsung SGH-T959W to cm-10.2-20130920-UNOFFICIAL-galaxys4gmtd
It now reports iteself as being an SGH-T959V ..... non-issue as far as I am concerned.
It works so well compared to the original ROM ....... but I have no GPS icon (top right pulldown screen or in power widget etc.) and no way that I can see to turn on GPS. If I use Google Maps it asks me to turn on wifi to help navigate .... not very helpful when I'm driving along the highway. But no mention of GPS.
Any pointers would be very useful as I got lost this morning on the way to work.
Cheers, Duncan

GPS Does not lock and icon disapear

Hi all.
I'm sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, I could not find....
I am very scared about this bug, do I need to change the phone ?
This i what happens :
When I start google maps, I can't get a lock: the blinking GPS icons appears for 1 second, then disapear, then come back for one second, the disapear for ever.
I don't know what to do... please, help !
Wireless Location and GPS enabled?
Menu -> Settings -> Location & Security
Yes of course
Use an app other than google maps to init your gps. Try GPS Test from the market.
GMaps is known to "give up" if the gps doesn't get a quick fix with the nexus s.
Tried GPS Test... Same result
FYI, this is definitely a hardware failure. I had my phone changed. So if you have the same trouble, you should do the same !

Why does my GPS mark always flashes even I dodn't open GPS >_< help~~~

At the right bottom corner of the screen, the GPS is flashing, even I don't cloke the GPS function.
What's happening?
Anyone any idea?
Help please~~~~~~~~~
I'm no expert but I know for my Eris I'll see the GPS icon flash when it's doing a weather update. Also when I go to google.com in the browser it'll flash.
GPS, it's not just for navigation!

wifi / bluetooth switch tile

I want a quickly accessible switch to turn on/off bluetooth and wifi... why has that not been addressed with Mango? MS always claims that WP7 has been designed to access features with less effort (clicks) but turning on bluetooth or wifi (which is a daily accessed feature for me and I assume for a lot of other people as well) still needs at least 3 clicks. That could be reduced to maybe 1 if there would be a tile for the switches...
Hope someone addresses this "problem" soon...
Yes they have to add some sort of quicktoggles down the line..

Nice discussion in your linked post! I like the toggles on the right hovering over the tiles when swiping to the right or with a little button underneath the -> (right arrow on the right)
Also the idea to have them on the app-list screen is a good one...
This has to be addressed. We need a petition and send it to MS!
They surely has some ideas in the works themselves, but probably far down on the todo-list.
there is a xap which i try but it doesn't work for my nodo. Can't remember the website.
The Wifi toggle should be in the topbar directly.
I can't believe that it is currently so complicated to turn on/off Wifi...
I know. That's kept me from setting up my work's wifi network on there. It's not worth the effort to turn it off when I need to get somewhere blocked by our filter.
I would also rather like to see the ability to choose specific BT profiles. I have a car stereo that supports Bluetooth. While the A2DP is useful, the handsfree on it pretty much sucks. Problem is that every call I make or receive ends up jumping over to the hands free and I have to go back in and turn off the headset.
Just leave WiFi on, I never turn it off. I used WiFi both at home and at work and WiFi uses less then the mobile network. I do agree a toggle would be good or at least enable pinning settings items to start and/or apps list.

These shortcuts are only working on OMNIA 7 (maybe Focus).
If there are interested OMNIA 7 users here a link to all under Mango working OMNIA 7 shortcuts: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15364970&postcount=163

And what about the rest of the toggles that we want?
It wont be pretty having them all up there, too cluttered for this OS.

GPS Broken, alternative?

I'm running the latest Hyperdrive, and my GPS is so wonky in the settings and status bar toggles that it's unusable, so does anybody have an alternative way to turn GPS on and off?

can you describe your issue a little better so we can help you?
tighten the screws on the back of your phone, it seems to help many with GPS.

I'm on RLS14 and my GPS is so wonky that I can't use it. If I change it in the status bar toggles (both stock and toggle mods) it will sometimes turn off or on, but I only know because my battery starts draining. Then it's nigh on impossible to get it off again, so I've got unused GPS for sometimes a couple days. And Location Services is no help either, the check marks check and dissappear with a mind of their own. So if anyone has a solution, that would much appreciated (I've already tried wiping cache/dalvik and fixing permissions, and followed all instruction to install)
^that's what I put in the rom thread
and thanks for the quick reply, I appreciate it

Just try a different rom? The new clean rom gps works perfectly for me, just drove from IN to Disney World.

Location-Based Smart Lock

Does anyone else use the smart lock based on location and get inconsistent behavior? I work from home, so I spend about 90% of my time here. I set up smart lock for the location. Sometimes, it works like a champ. Other times, not so much. I've currently been "at home" for the past 14 hours or so, but it keeps insisting on a fingerprint or pin. It's making me crazy.
If anyone has found a solution to this issue, I'd appreciate it.
Oh, also, a reboot doesn't help. I really wish they had added wifi network as an option.
I'm seeing the same issues.
It seems to me that it is working after using Google Maps and clicking on the button to locate my position.
I think it helps if wifi is on and google location history is on, along with high accuracy locations.
my wifi is always on and locations are set to high accuracy with history on and it still finds a way to mess up
every time its happening i clear google location history, clear maps cache and data then open map again to check then its right
happening almost always once week
i may try to factory reset but have to wait till weekend, so i have time in case something get out of whack
This happened to me yesterday. I was home but it kept trying to ask for my pin. It turns out my pinned home location in the smart lock setting was turned off. You can manually edit the location and turn it on/off, which I found out yesterday.
My experience with location based smart lock has been bad across three different andriod devices.
Using the Bluetooth smartlock with my gear s2 has been flawless though.
Was happening to me to. Here's what I did yesterday and seems to have fixed it..
Go into the smart lock settings and delete/remove all saved locations, devices, etc. Now back all the way out and go back and add everything back. A reboot might help afterwards also.

I turned that crap off. For that reason as well on the s7e. Imediately turned it off on the s8+. Same issues with the app IFTTT and recipes, sometimes it works and sometimes it wont.
I have had nothing but difficulty with it also. Going to turn it off and try the Bluetooth paired with smartwatch.

I solved it on my phone. I switched off every other SMART lock feature and just left Trusted Places on. Been working for over a day now after having not worked at all for 3 or 4 months.
Obviously one of the other Smart Lock features - voice, trusted devices or on-body detection is interfering with trusted places, but not sure which one at this stage.
