[Q] CROMi-X with 4.3 coming? - Asus Transformer TF700

Hello,
I'm a fan of CROMi-X but am frustrated that it is still on JB 4.2.1. When is 4.3 coming? I heard that 4.3 adds the TRIM feature, which specifically speeds up the TF700. I've been thinking of switching to PAC because of this but prefer CROMi. Let me know if 4.3 is in the works and if there is an ETA.

there will not be a cromi with 4.3 unless asus releaces a 4.3 for the tf700, or sbdags ports the tf701 rom over. Trim can be enabled via lagfix, you can download the lagfix premium apk online, and get scheduled trimming. TRIM in 4.3 and 4.4 in only for Nexus devices.

There has been some discussion over on the CROMi-X main thread about possible data corruption caused by lagfix. See post #3651 and thereabouts on the thread --

Thanks for the replies. Do you all still recommend CROMi-X over PAC and CM11 for speed? CROMi-X still lags for me, though I'm going to try out 5.3 soon. I'm still on 4.7

I can't speak for other ROMs as I haven't tried them but CROMi-X 5.3 works great for me.

5.3 is much better optimised than 4.7. Try it, you might be pleasantly surprised

I confirm : 5.3 is far better optimized than 4.7 which was far better optimized than stock.

You could try to use "discard" option to clean up your dirty blocks automaticly instead of running lagfix manually on Cromi X... With discard option, it prevents android slowing down over time. It is just my opinion...

Yes, while it works I haven't suffered any corruption since I stopped using it. It takes longer to run than it advertising which I suspect causes issues if you reboot when it is still trying to trim the file system.

Here you go master sbdags. Here is the cut and paste on the discard...
discard, nodiscard(*):
Controls whether ext4 should issue discard/TRIM
commands to the underlying block device when
blocks are freed. This is useful for SSD devices
and sparse/thinly-provisioned LUNs, but it is off
by default until sufficient testing has been done.

Not sure why no one said it yet, but thanks. I reinstalled CM10.1 (latest nightly of course) and tried this out. Like you say, 1700 is the max (but I always used 1700 as the max anyway since 1800 just killed the battery). Good to have an o/c gfx. Are you intending to do any more with this? The ability to alter voltages was the main reason I used the clemsyn kernel on CROMI. Also, any chance of a future data2sd/fsync support?
Anyway, once again thanks for your work, and thanks for sharing it too. If you'd like a tester for anything else let me know. Going to try sticking with CM 10.1 for a bit, seems to be getting almost ready for daily use (barring some 2minor" bugs).

I have successfully compiled and booted the cyanogenmod 10.1 kernel with a couple of changes (thanks a lot to clemysn!):
Features:
- cpu overclock to 1,8GHz (I dont know where the error is, but i can not set overclock to 1,8GHz. It is not available as a frequency. Maybe someone can help out)
- gpu overclock to 650 MHz
Please report any issues.

Hi !
If you post kernel source code , I could take a look to see , why you can not able to OC up to 1.8GHz !
Yes, I am going to add features. I want to get fsync control running, add row scheduler and undervolting. And I will try to improve overclocking. As this is my first custom kernel for android, it will take some time to look into everything.

Also, it may be just my tf700t, but if you switch from balanced to performance mode with this kernel, it slows down tremendously.

I hope you considered that the dock notifiation also indicates the amount of battery left in the dock. If we remove that notification there could be a problem with the battery indication of it. But lets see the tests first

but hey its been asked for lol.
And here is the FIRST beta. Any force closes or any issues take a logcat
ADB method (Easiest)
Type:
adb logcat -d -v time > %USERPROFILE%\Documents\NoDockNotifCrash.txt
The log will be in your my documents directory.
Android Terminal Method:
logcat -d -v time > /sdcard/NoDockNotifCrash.txt
The log will be in your ROOT directory of the sdcard.
Then post them AS ATTACHMENT to not copy and paste -.- lol

Thanks I'll load another rom and give it another try.
Let me flash the deodexed version of CROMI (I'm on odexed currently). BRB!
EDIT/UPDATE: I've flashed the current deoxed CROMI (v3.2.2) and the dock notification is gone. Since it is a clean flash no other apps are interfering, and so it seems to work pretty well! Thanks for the possibility to test-drive this. It's a lot more pleasurable when there are no issues to track down -- it seems you've gotten the hang of it? This means I now have a new problem: deciding whether to stay on DEODEXED for now since all those pesky notifications have been eradicated, or return to ODEXED for the (supposed) smoothness... Don't you just looooooove first world problems?

So my first release is working!? On the first try!? Woah sweetness!
Now I have a question. Someone stated the notification holds the battery percentage for the dock. Now say the battery for the dock gets to 14 percent. Do Anton know if there is a window stating the percentage is low? Or any notification?
If not I could possibly make one to notify if the battery gets low.

Soon as some roms hit, lag will be a thing of the past, although, I haven't seen any lag yet.
It's all about putting a custom recovery on the phone (CWM / TWRP). From there, you can install ROMs, make nandroids, etc...

Of course it can. As long as you pair it with a TW-based kernel. Just like our stock TW phones can run AOSP with an AOSP-based kernel. Just remember, it's the exact same phone.

The leading issue holding us back from releasing an official build (and nightlies) is the known /data & /cache corruption bug. This has been discussed heavily in may threads at this point so I'll be brief ... it appears to be recovery related, in that the filesystem is not being setup properly with recoveries build for CM10.1. At this point, we have engaged several folks from the CM team and have been hard at work to come up with a valid, complete solution. Progress is being made daily.

Guys I'm all for wanting 4.3 and being excited, I've been compiling pa. When our device maintainers say something though I listen. I have limited knowledge in how these guys do what they do but if they say don't flash with our current recoveries then don't do it they are running this by the proper channels I'm confident it will be resolved in due time. Talk to devs like @gs2usr and see if he can at least include the recovery.IMG built with the compiles and put a quick tut on his op.

When it hit me I did a factory wipe and full reset/wipe of all partitions and then reflashed and restored /data from a Nandroid backup.

I did this too (except internal sd) and got blank screen after the nandroid. Waited ten minutes, hard rebooted, waited another five or so and it finally sorted itself out. That was a scary fifteen minutes!
so reflash complete FW with Odin is best way? -- to hardly re-flash all partitions
right now i compiled new one, with more cherrypicking, lets try it out
Sorry, when I said wipe all partitions I meant system, data and cache/dalvik-cache, not *every* partition, I guess I should have been more clear.
Would it be safe to manually flash the latest recovery from Koushik and then use that to flash the ROM?

Excellent question. I've been trying to find one for 2 hours with no luck...
edit: of course...it's built during the ROM build, not CWM of course, but I should be able to use it to flash CM, no?

ROM [4.4.x] CyanFox Rom (just sharing)

I have nothing to do with development of this Rom. For some reason it's not posted here.
I used it with my TF300T. I just got my TF700T, and there is a CyanFox build specific version for our tablet.
Here is the link to the Download page (Just scroll down to TF700T for our buid, and _gapps for the CyanFox related gapps install file):
http://cyanfox-rom.com/downloads/
Here's the homepage (obviously)
http://cyanfox-rom.com/
Just thought I'd share, it's a pretty sweet Rom and deserves to be passed along.
Hopefully it's appreciated.
Take it easy all.

Pretty alright man. It's what I ran as my main Rom on my tf300t.
I did a little research cyan fox is based on cynogen mod, but has some performance tweaks, as well as paranoid android holo notifications and a few other features from pa.

Hi Guys,
I am using Cromi's 4.2, but I am having issues when using multiple user profiles.
Has anyone had any issues with this ROM?
Many Thanks in advance

Is it compatible with rom2sd?
require mets should be the same as for cm11, cyan fox is just a derivative of cm, like cmb.

I have not gotten it to work with ROM2SD. Has anyone else even tried this ? It definitely does not work with CROMI-X and ROM2SD, but I use TWRP and I think KitKit has issues with TWRP ??
*shrug*

I believe it does. Don't know for since I no longer have a computer to prepare microsd partitions.

The new twrp on sdbags threads works with kitkat. I think both ROMs need kernels that support rom2sd.

That is correct about kernels. By the way if interested there's Philz CWM available for our tablet http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2597862
I flashed the latest and it boots but setup wizard closes repeatedly. Are Gapps necessary? I usually test then flash Gapps
