I have seen this question before, the answer could be a number of things...
Try a different USB port, perhaps the one you are using is dodgy? or perhaps USB drivers need (re)installing?
Blow any dust particles from the micro USB port on your phone
Try a different USB cable, sometimes they become damaged and the data transfer cables no longer function
Check USB connection settings on your device - Ensure its set to MASS STORAGE
I hope that these suggestions help, if not then i'm unsure as to the best plan of action!

I have a 2.2.1 (rooted) Mesmerize and I can't get it to recognize anything plugged into the Samsung Micro USB to USB Adapter I just bought.
The phone is set to "Mass Storage" for USB and I've tried both USB Debugging on and off.
I can't get it to recognize any of 5 thumb drives that I've tried connecting to it. So either it's a bad cable, or something else in the phone is preventing the connection. Help, please!
EDIT: I'm possibly naive in assuming that this (reading a USB thumb drive from the phone) will work at all, but since they (Samsung) sell the cable and tout it as being capable of it, I must just be missing something such as a setting or the necessary version of Android or a wonderful hack from this group.

well basically heres my inquiry, my unit is the alcatel tab t10. i never had any problems with it until recently, my device's usb port suddenly stops working.
tried unchecking the usb debug mode, tried checking it but to no avail, the usb still does not work. it doesnt seem to connect to my laptop. tried changing the cable.
i also tried connecting my device to my brothers laptop.
correct me if im wrong, but when the usb fails to connect to any laptop, their should be a notification in the laptop that the device is not recognized. but in my condition, no notification shows up. its like my device does not really connect at all.
oh and if it helps, i bought an otg cable before it started malfunctioning. but the only thing i had conneceted to my device is a wired mouse and a wired generic gamepad, which both seems to be working perfectly fine.
also, if i connect my device to a wired mouse, it would work perfecly fine. i could also connect to a usb flash drive, that is via the otg cable.
so whats weird is that the usb cable does not work, but the otg cable works fine.
if you have any question or any suggestion , i would truly appreciate it.
Hmm.....well the good thing is the port itself isn't "dead" as you can still utilize it for OTG. My only suggestion is make a backup of all your apps and data and try a factory reset.

thank you for the suggestion guitarman2010. unfortunately my usb port isnt still working. i also reflashed my device's current firware. but still wasnt the solution i was looking for. i was just wondering if there is a directory under the root folder that holds the devices usb driver? would it be possible that the device's driver itself got deleted? i wam still at awe that the otg cable still works like a charm.
and another thing, is the male usb pin the same with the flash drive's pin? cause if i connect the usb cable to the otg cable it wont work, but the flash drive works normally.

Was there any liquid contact with USB port, by rain or some other way? I too had same problem. In rain, mob was exposed to water n the usb port was not working. give it to service centre. they will replace your motherboard...

there was no liquid contact as far i know but i can charge my phone by connecting it to a charger or connecting it to my pc via usb cable the thing is when i connect my phone to my pc the usb storage option is not coming and pc says usb not recognized

You need to do 3 things to identify the problem.
First, check whether the USB debugging is 'ON', considering that you have been using it earlier it should be on.
Second, update the usb driver on your computer (it can happen sometimes)
Third, try connecting your mobile to another computer, sometimes it can just be your PC misbehaving.
Hello guys i just got new pc case so i installed the hardware and i put my usb cable to usb 3.0 front and my phone it started normally so i copied some photos and i safely remove it.. Then after some minutes i used again the usb but the phone was only charging i couldnt find my sdcard-phone on device manager. So i changed usb port back panel (2.0) and it worked properly :/ any solution? i cant pull always my heavy pc so i can use my phone on the pc! Excuse me for my bad english!
Hi,
You can try different USB ports, different cable or a different pc. If it's just that pc, There's obviously an incompatibility. Perhaps your phone doesn't support USB 3.0?

Hi. I have a rk-a715 unit with Android 8.1Go Yt9218_00002_V004. Recently I bought USB cables 6pin and 4pin. As soon as I connect them, the main USB port it is not recognized anymore, it shows only the internal memory. How can I solve that? Thank you.
