just a discussion
what are you guys favorite roms and why
pictures if you want
Thread is closed...
Best or favorite is really up to the user, all the roms here are the best, just up to what you need or want.
As XDA is not a support site, take a look at all the works in the development threads, there are plenty of screenshots there as well.

So many roms for the G1! Which is the best one to use?
There's no such thing as best, it's all about personal preference. I can't tell you what the best car is b/c I like one kind and you'll probably like another.
Also try to keep your Q's in proper section
Closed the thread.
1. It's a personal preference. No sense in having a "what's best."
2. This is NOT a development related thread. It should not be in the development thread.
I don't intend to offend rom maintainers
nor do I intend to discredit any of their work
but when the first three pages of the "Development" sub-forum
are almost all rom threads there seems to be a better way.
While there surely is a lot of "Dev" work involved in many ( but not all)
of the custom roms here. it is the "Dev" work that should be discussed
in the "Dev" sub-forum. there is nothing really being discussed in most of
these Rom threads that deserve being in the "Dev" forum.
much like someone posting a thread about an app or a theme or a question about
what case is the best for under $10, these all belong in something other than the "dev" forum.
I am sure this will piss off many here but I only intend to help this be a more
organized forum.
but in the fashion of "Majority rules"
I would like to put this to a vote to see just how many agree with my thinking>
and then maybe if we see an overwhelming amount in agreement to this
we can request a sub-forum to be created from the admins.
I totally agree, I love this site but it can be hard to find what your looking for. Something like
Android development:
rom discussion
roms
mods
modems
themes
and stickies on how to manage the files for each category.
just a suggestion, don't crucify me!
I hate to say this but it wont happen. It has always been set up for as rom dev where the roms are to be posted as most development work is done
off site.
I am gonna close this up now
you guys here are always wanting to keep this forum tidy and organised, therefore how would people like a sup forum just for stable released roms allowing users to easily browse what is on offer and keep up to date
For every other device, that's what the rom development sub forum is.

yes but this forum is a mix between questions about s-off, questions about rom requests ect, what i am saying is a forum for full stable releases dev section used for dev requests i.e remove this software for this rom, ect, i.e development.... a sub forum for stable rom releases i.e out of development
Agree there sholud be no [Q] threads in the DEV section, kinda like this thread you started.
As the Dev's start refining their Roms they will update their respective threads with their stable releases so I really don't see a need for this....I want all my DEV. related threads in one spot. This is how its done in all the other forums, ONE Dev. section, so if your a noob and its confusing for you, I think the searching and reading will help you in the long run become more efficient at using the forums. We encourage people to search and research and become pro active in helping themselves....
all the how-to and guides should be moved to general except what is known as the bible, which should be stickied at the top here...
with soff, this exploded, give time for things to settle down a bit.
killster
Posting threads like this doesn't help.

When are ROMs really ever "out of development"? Devs are constantly updating, fixing bugs, adding features, etc. Anyway, we just got S-OFF so nothing is going to be 100% stable at the moment as people are just now getting the chance to test these ROMs. Things will settle down and get organized soon.
The current forum lineup is the way things are going to stay for right now. Give the development section time, as new things are posted...the old things will be buried.

Given this is a general thread, I thought I would ask the management why SGS2 developers are being attacked (and why it is being allowed by management)? Claims are made that it is to prevent copiers from being called original; yet the mods are permitting known copycats from SGS1 threads to be in the original thread and moving primarily non-moderator created ROMs to the "original" forum.
One such person they're claiming is a copycat is the second person to create a custom ROM for the SGS2 - and has a history of being respected on other devices. Others include original developers of kernel mods, and other recognized developers.
Lastly, according to one of the mods therein, users do not matter to XDA. Is this a theme shared by all mods?
There are plenty of other threads on this same topic if you looked, even in the same section of the forum.
XDA has always been and will always be a mainly developer focused website as without them there would be no content for "users" to use. Therefore it is only natural for users to come second.
But in the case of the SGS2 this has been done purely to make it easier to find original content as there was far too many roms which are not unique in any way (or their only unique feature is a theme, which should be released as a theme not a full rom).
It is not a stab at any particular rom, dev or user, no roms are considered "higher" than others, both are in forums of equal standing in the website structure.
You must remember that development covers far more than just roms and if we allowed everything to be in one forum as it was before then you would never find threads like the thread to modify framework.jar to allow bln to work with stock mms.apk as you will only find thread after thread for roms that are all the same except the colour of the notifications bar.
If a thread is in the wrong place it is up the OP of that thread to ask for it to be moved to the original section (or if it is wrongly in original then report it yourself and await a moderators response) I know for a fact that XDA deal with every single report made, they do not trash any without at least looking first.
Yay another one of these threads, because we just don't have enough of them.
If ever I've seen an appropriate username/post combo, the OP is it.

Bingo. Thread closed.
I am pretty experienced with flashing roms. I am a fan of Gruesome Wolfs EVO 3d port and want to post on his thread...How? It says i cant
need atleast 10 posts.
don't you think that it's not good rules? i think it raise up junk post in general discussion ...
It's to stop the new users from posting their questions in the development sections. 10 posts are very easy to get. Just help people in the Q&A section/Post cool things in General/Put themes in the themes section. Or, check out the off topic thread and chat about sports. Good luck and welcome to XDA.
