G'Five Bravo Spark II 3 Sim Mobile Phone --Real Specifications - General Topics

Hello Pakistanies!
GFive has launched its new 3 Sim Mobile Phone in Pakistan having Model Bravo II or Spark II..
Specifications as publicized by the GFive company are:
1Ghz Dual Core
256 RAM
256 ROM
Operating System: Android 4.0 ICS
I have recently purchased this cell and found that company is promoting its cell phone totally with the wrong specifications. This cell phone has following exact specifications nothing less nothing more..
Processor: 1 GHz...(No way....it is most probably 600 Mhz or even less)
RAM: 203 MB which is totally choked by the preinstalled system applications...so you cant even run anything having 10-15 mb memory consumption.
ROM: 140 MB..........almost 100 MB already consumed by the Stock ROM..you have available memory almost 40-50 MB......
Operating System: ICS My foot.............it is Gingerbrad 2.3.5 based Sprdroid............My God what a fake presentation of the specifications.
It is having GFive 4.0 operating system which as i mentioned before 2.3.5 based altered operating system with a Go Launcher 4.0
So.................Plz plz plz plz plz plz ..... dont even think to purchase this one...i would suggest A30 or A34 of QMobile...which at least have the specifications they publicize.....and having market price Rs. 7000~7500/-.
Now my side of the story..........
The first thing i have done to this phone (GFive Bravo Spark II) is the rooting....
Those who want to do this....can follow the steps...i am going to describe in my next posts...Those who have already purchased this cell phone...please have some patiance....i am gonna help them to do something nice to this phone to at least run it for their common use....

Well first thing you should do is the ADB drivers and USB drivers for the phone....download Latest Version of the PDANet...install it on your pc and let the program to install the drivers for your GFive Phone....
Once drivers are installed......................you can root the phone using a chinese firmware VRoot.......install it on your PC....plug your phone via usb cable and root the phone..... once successfully done you should have Superuser installed on your phone...
Now install Rootuninstaller and get rid of the unwanted applications you want and which choke down the phone to run smoothly....The first thing i would suggest would be the uninstallation of Water Ripple Unlock..(Annoying) and change the security of your phone to password or pin unlock or pattern unlock....the simple sliding lock will no longer work (mind it) you should have always to keep your phone at one of the three types of lock (pin, password or pattern)...
Secondly get rid of the launcher (Golauncher 4.0) but first install some light weight launcher .. i would suggest Holo Launcher and Holo Locker the most......being light weight and smooth in function / operation....
Well i have modded the framework-res.apk and systemUI.apk to get the white status bar icons and ICS like looks in menus........any one interested can pm me for both these modded files and the exact method to root , and to change these files.....Stay Blessed and avoid such fraudulant type of fake presentations as GFive is doing to promote its phone for Rs. 5500/- which is not even worth of Rs. 1000/- (****ty crap)...

UPDATE 2011-07-05
Android 2.1 Eclair ROM has been "officially" released for this phone. No working Froyo or Gingerbread ROMs have been seen.
The most recent build is r2599, download here: http://dl.dbank.com/c0awjsvwhj
Rooted, hybrid, and bloat-free mods of the 'official' roms, made by user jboxer can be found at www.androidicecream.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=17
Older builds of the 'official' ROM are available if you want to try them:
2.1 r969 http://bit.ly/aX4nVh
2.1 r1069 http://bit.ly/b3esau
2.1 r1129 (Unoffical, make by user jboxer, thanks!) http://www.mediafire.com/?11t1har8q7d126q
2.1 r1632 http://bit.ly/9PGr5G
2.1 r1863 http://bit.ly/b0Dy6k
2.1 r1991 http://bit.ly/cvENHp
2.1 r2187 http://www.mediafire.com/?h1i6iaxldx935vy
2.1 r2230 http://www.mediafire.com/?cfacb7lrxxnk7es
If your i858 is still running Android 1.6 'Donut' you need to modify the "update-validate-script" in the ROM zip file and change "touchstone" to "cosmos" for the update to work correctly. If you have a version of Android 2.1 'Eclair' on the phone already then you can just apply the update directly.
Rename the download ROM to 'update.zip', copy to your SD card in a folder called /update, power off then power on while holding the MENU key, follow the instructions on-screen.
Live wallpapers were left out because there is no graphics accelerator in this phone and they run VERY slowly.
If you want to try the live wallpapers anyway you can install the following add-on AFTER installing eclair:
http://bit.ly/9qS8mU
Adobe Flash Lite add-on http://bit.ly/9Iomfx - this is a rar archive that contains files (app and lib) that need to be installed to the /system folder.

So it's a 4.3" WVGA Android phone with an underpowered processor running donut. What do you expect for $300 unlocked and SIM free!
So if there's any questions about this phone please feel free to ask.
If anyone has any idea where the updates for this device might be found please let me know.

We have started the i858 community!

I-Mobile claims update coming out soon
I live in Thailand and the i858 was just put on promotion for 9,900 Thai Baht with three months free 3G service (2,000MB). I think I am going to go get one tomorrow. I called I-Mobile customer service in Thailand and they claim the update is in the works and will release soon. They said their service center will update it for me when it is ready. But there is a pretty active Android community in Thailand (albeit in the Thai language) and I am pretty confident those guys will post the update online. Some of them claim they have been given pre-releases from developers and it looks about 90% complete and are told it will be ready soon for release. I think the update will be 2.1.
I got one as well. For this price it's a very good phone imo. Yeah, probably you cannot play 3D games smoothly on it but I don't really know why you should do that with a phone. And as far as I know, there is no other phone that has as many functions (including TV) as this for this price.
I was told in the i-mobile center that the final 2.1 upgrade will be released this month (august) but they could upgrade my unit with the beta or pre-release but I would lose the warranty.
Great news! please post here when you get the update I'm really looking forward to getting eclair or froyo on this device

R133 ROM for i858 - Android 1.6
For those of you who bought the devices in Thailand check the rom version in about phone. The first ones sold had rom 107. They are now selling them with rom 133. Here is a file you can download, put on an SD card, and use the recovery method to flash the new rom. Also it looks like the upgrade to 2.1 is going to be by cable at I-Mobile shops only. It appears that they are going to change the bootloader as well as update the phone to 2.1. When I go to do mine, hopefully soon, I will see if the tech will copy the program and files to a usb key for me.

G Tablet model 320

Does anyone have any additional information about the model 320?
Any pictures or other leaked information on it?
Having an extra 512 mb memory chip on it might be important.
One of the reasons a "cruz" cannot be upgraded to a later version of android (it is on android 2.0) is that the newer versions of android wont fit on the "Cruz's" 128 mb ram memory chip.
Will the 1 gig chip on the new G Tablet Model 320 allow it to install the android 2.3 OS and maybe the new Honeycomb version due out next year?
Any word if it will take the place of the Model 300? Is it being held up from distribution to allow time for the older model 300 stock to be sold out?
Edit: how much room on the 512 mb chip does the android 2.2 app use? Or another way of asking is: What is the file size of the android 2.2 OS and what is the file size of the android 2.3 OS?
My understanding is that 1gb version would not run most of the software posted here on xda, so it would be pointless.
Tmk, only a small number of 320's made it to the States, and I only know one XDA user who owns one.
It's basically a v2 Malata device, like the v2 zPads. Because of this. support is questionable because all the devs and modders here have 300's. I know from my zPad contact that the v2 zPads have a completely different boot.img and their newer kernels are not compatible with our device, so it's a double-edged sword. We have no idea it they will even show up in th States in the future, let alone replace the GTab we currently own.

[Q]Is it possible to install Android OS on a iPhone clone Mobile ?

Hi,
Is it possible to install or flash Android OS into an iPhone clone mobile from china?
One of my friend have that mobile and its just a ****..I was wondering whether it could run Android or not..
I have seen similar threads like this,They all say that those mobiles have weak RAMs and processors..
In this case, How about installing a light weight custom ROMs?
We don't even worry if the phone lags..
Note: the phone has java support.
/help
No replies?
I doubt it. I got one of those iphone i9 clones and it sucked. It can't even run the os that was on itself properly because the processor speed was too low..
AI don't see how much lighter you can make android, and the model processor/available ram is pretty much unexplored, plus they vary from seller to seller because they are each made from different factories, each cloning each other's products..
Ok,nevermind the processor thing.
Now,how is it possible to flash Android OS into the mobile?
Ok,nevermind the processor thing.

Need Suggestions for a New Budget Cellphone [India]

Hi Guyz I am from India looking for a new phone within 10-12k INR ie about 200-250 USD. By doing a little bit of research for 5-6days i have narrowed my choices to a few phones.
Dell XCD35
LG Optimus One
HTC Wildfire
HTC Wildfire S
HTC Explorer
Samsung Galaxy Fit
Samsung Galaxy Ace
Please Suggest me which one of the following will be a good choice for me. First things first I should be able to install apps in Memory card. I think we need to root the device for it if i am not wrong (Please clear this doubt for me). Second the device should be choppy or laggy in terms of gaming too ... !!! If i get Android i will definitely play a lot of 3d Games.
HOPING TO GET MY DOUBTS CLEARED SOON !!!
Going by the list of phones you are looking at, i would recommend 1 phone and take 2 into concideration.
Recommended:
Samsung Galaxy Ace
Alternatives:
HTC Wildfire S
LG Optimus One
There are essentialy 3 Factors that are important for you, they are:
Resolution -> a lot of apps simply will not install on phones that use 320x240 screens
CPU Clockspeed -> The Faster the CPU is, the faster applications like games will run
Amount of RAM -> The more RAM you have the better the phone will perform while multitasking
All of the phones you have listed are essentialy either older, and/or lower specced entry level phones. All of them are using older CPUs (ARM11 / ARMv6) and most of them are clocked at 600 MHz or even lower like The HTC Wildfire (528 MHz).
The exception here is the Samsung Galaxy Ace clocked at 800 Mhz, so it has the fastest hardware and should be the fastest out of all of them for gaming.
A lot of the phones you have listed have fairly little RAM by todays standards, often times only 256 MB
While the Galaxy Ace has 384 MB of Ram, the Optimus One and the Wildfire S both have 512 MB of Ram, but a slower 600 Mhz CPU.
IF you chose a phone with more RAM over the Galaxy Ace's faster CPU, i personaly would go with the Wildfire S, as it has superior build quality and is better supported by custom roms.
So the choice is essentialy yours:
Galaxy Ace
------------------
3.5 Inch Screen
800 Mhz CPU => Gaming
384 MB RAM
Wildfire S / Optimus One
--------------------------------------
3.2 Inch Screen
600 Mhz CPU
512 MB RAM => Multitasking
According to your requirements, you should go for Galaxy Ace. It's really a nice smartphone with mind blowing features. It can also provide you a nice gaming experience. I am personally using it an loving it a lot.
And this is not always necessary to root the device for installing apps on memory card. But in some cases, it is necessary (if manufacturer has programmed the device to download apps directly to phone memory). When it comes to rooting, then rooting is just like jailbreaking in Apple. A rooted android device breaks the limitations that are applied to it either by manufacturer or carrier. Following are some examples about What a rooted user can do:
1) Access the flash memory chip, which you need to do if you want to modify the Android OS or replace it with a customized version.
2) Make the apps on your phone run faster.
3) Remove pre-installed apps to free up space.
4) Turn the phone into a 3G/4G WI-Fi hotspot without paying an extra fee.
There are also many other reasons for rooting. But these are the most popular ones.
So HTC Wildfire S or Samsung Galaxy Ace is it ..... Can any1 tell me how much of a diff. does 200MHz make in gaming. I mean is it noticable ????
"I Think i will go with SG Ace"

Well, in this case it is a speed increase of 1/3 or 33%, just imagine how much higher your PC CPU would be clocked if it was 33% faster.
Go with the SG Ace
If you are willing to install custom roms, I bet the wildfire S can be overclocked to run at a higher mhz.

[Q] Identify real specs of a fake phone?

Back from one of those fake markets in mainland China where I got myself a pretty good-looking phone which I'm desperately trying to identify, in order to install a new rom and hopefully get Google Play running on it.
The package says VOVI S968,it's bundled with 2 different protective shells, a 2nd battery and an old-fashion analog watch (!!). At around USD100 it's a pretty decent deal for a dual-sim 5" smartphone apparently running a recent version of Android (but probably not Android 4.3 as it says on the box). It looks rather thin and I find the blue metal backplate rather appealing.
As I really need Google Play on this toy in order to install some of the apps I purchased, I start to look at the phone specs in order to find out how to go about rooting it and installing a custom rom and that's where the night mare begins: all the specs are fake!!
Settings>About Phone tells me:
Model number: S880
Android version: 4.2.2
Kernel version 4 Core MTK6589
Build Number: XUNHU_S880_XY_V10_09-07-2013
cat /proc/cpuinfo tells me:
Processor: ARMv7 Processor rev 1 (v71)
4 x BogoMIPS: 1700.0 MHz
...
Hardware: MTK6589
Revision: 0000
Serial: 00000000000000000
Antutu 4 tells me:
Brand: MTK6589
Model: S880
OS: 4.2.2
... but also tells me that a shabby 7546 test score which is to my knowledge, way inferior to an actual MTK6589, which from what I googled, should reach somewhere around 13K.
The only information I can rely on so far is that when I connect it in USB debugging mode, Windows device manager tells me it's a Spreadtrum. I do not see however, which model I have.
I succesfully rooted it with motochop and adb files from this thread, but I feel I cannot go further and try to flash a new ROM on it without properly identifying my phone.
Can anyone please tell me what a the real specs of my phone and, if possible which rom I can safely flash onto it?
Thanks in advance,
Calagan

If I am not being repetitive cpu-z will give you some more info on the Soc cores etc. There are some other CPU tweaking programs that would help testing out the CPU and all those need root which you have . That will help find a more compatible rom or
easier ...put it on CL for sale
