should i wait for nvidia 2? - Shield Q&A

hello
i am thinking in buy nvidia shield, but im afraid do you think they will sell nvidia 2 on this year? i dont want to buy nvidia 1 if nvidia 2 come out in next months

I'm in the same boat. Nvidia hasn't announced anything yet, but they are definitely working on it and it's going to pack the k1, which could be very interesting.

If you don't already have one, I'd wait to see more details on the k1 model. I mean the Nvidia Shield 1 isn't getting any more expensive....so worst case scenario you can just buy the Nvidia Shiel 1 cheaper.

Ya, i gonna wait for nvidia shield 2 or get a cheap shield 1

I picked mine up on Swappa for a very reasonable price, might check there. Personally I use mine quite a lot and will probably upgrade if it has a enough of a benefit over the current gen.

there some far more interesting android devices cheaper than the shield if its for streaming games. now that we have limelight and splashtop running smooth:
http://obscurehandhelds.com/
Much i5 has dual sim great controls and an ips screen, im planning on buying the i5s version
http://obscurehandhelds.com/?p=2311

But even shield 1 with tegra 4 is already too much for android games...
If shield 2 will have 1080p it will be a big flop, because 1080p won't give anything to 5 inch screen, but drain the battery.
Shield 2 will be interesting only if:
720p
Better battery
250$
Less heavy
Maybe 5.5 inch screen

Or if they make the shield be their first handset, where the screen detaches as a phone. Mind blown.

It has been my personal experience with technology that it really does not matter if you have the fastest gadget. I always wait six months to a year to buy new tech because the price is always cut in half
the current Nvidia Shield can run EVERYTHING on android at FULL SPEED as far as I know.

I just want a better dpad. Something that uses a real cross pattern instead of a circle.

I really like the hat-top Dpad that's on the Shield. I just dislike that it slides around.
It's miles better than some designs that just glue silicon feet to the Dpad and just stick it in there. ( I'm looking at you iControlpad )
I found a picture of what that looks like. Terrible design.:
But really, if it just had that fancy Dpad from the new xbox 360 controllers, (not sure if the Xbone does it) the one that you can twist up for a Plus pad, or twist down for a Hat top. I would not only enjoy using it because it's an extremely sturdy design, but it also fits the needs of any accustomed gamer, like yourself who prefers the Cross/Plus pad.

They could actually make room for an ethernet port or even a secondary microusb port. (so that you dont have to fiddle (or even have to find)) an usb otg Y cable..
If not, they should really include those cables in the box (ethernet-usb, micro hdmi converter, usb otg y cable, ..)
I also agree with the DPad being a little less good
and I could also live with a slightly larger screen
For the rest, this thing is perfect!
also.. the analog sticks can make quite some noise when they hit the plastic.. which can hinder my girlfriend's sleep at night sometimes ^^ (i dont think the xbox or ps3 controller have the same "loudness" on that aspect..) but this is offcourse just a minor issue

For me I would like a thinner design and a possibly better quality screen. Though I would definitely not want any of those at the cost of it's amazing standby/battery life.
Would love to eventually be able to dual boot android and a window os

16 gigs of internal memory seems really slim. I don't know why 32 or even 64 couldn't have been chosen instead. I can't imagine the price being raised that much in return. Vibration would have been great too.
I mainly use the shield for emulation though. So I just wish there was a better N64 Android emulator than mupen. I don't think its a lack of shield capability though. Just not enough advancement in the android development community.

Check your local craigslists. The $200 retail price drop has encouraged alot of people in my area to list their Shields at $110-$140, and at that price I think it'd be a great deal even if a Shield 2 came out soon. The Shield has high enough build quality where I wouldn't feel sheepish buying one secondhand from a responsible owner.
I love the Shield but it needs a larger screen. The bezel is gigantic by modern standards and while I love virtually every other aspect of the Shield I still feel my shoulders sink a little when I flip it up to see that tiny 5 inch screen and a big ol' bezel.
What I wish Nvidia would release is a proper 7 or 8 inch gaming tablet up to the same standards as the Shield, not another controller with a flip up screen... But that's just me. I imagine there's room enough in the market for Nvidia to offer both devices though, a gaming tablet and a controller-with-a-screen format like the Shield... Maybe even a Xperia Play successor gaming phone.

I already have a 10" tablet but I really prefer the flip up screen on the Shield.
That said 5" is too small to enjoy PC games. For emulators its fine.
Shield 2 needs to have at least a 6" screen if I am going to consider purchasing it. 6.5" would be better. Making this fit on a controller will be an impressive design feat, but I feel its necessary to enjoy modern (non mobile) games.

There isn't plans for a shield 2.

Sources? I'd bet they are going to follow up with another device. No reason not to.

[Q] Which Tablet do i get for $200 or less?

Soo Black friday coming up and it looks like there are going to be several deals on tablets out there.
Anyone have any suggestions on which one to get?
I'm hoping to use it for browsing around the house, watching movies on vacation, and various other uses(hoping there's a vnc client out there so i can use it to vnc into my HTPC.), also hoping for something w/marketplace access
I don't need one w/ celluar i have enough devices i can get internet from when i'm out and about.
Here's what i've seen so far
Kmart - Sylvania 7.1" comes w/2.1 Wi-Fi - $139.99
Toys R US - Sylcania 7.1" comes w/2.1 Wi-FI - $139.99
Hastings - Sylvania 7" WiFi Tablet w/ Android O/S 1GHz ARM 11 Processor 256MB RAM 2GB Hard Drive - $149.99
They all look to be the same tablet although each add words the device differently. Best buy has a couple of E-reader devices listed however i'm not sure if any of those could be rooted and flashed.(nook, cruz e-reader)
I've never rooted an android phone but am technically capable of doing so.
If this question has been asked and answered then please forgive my failure of using a search engine in an attempt to find an answer. Any and all helpful input is greatly appreciated.
it's 200, but euros:

me too
I've been looking at those too. I think they are all the same model. The Sylavania 7" has a 1ghz processor, 256/512 memory, TFT Resistive screen, 480x800
I've been doing a lot of research and it seems like a winner for a cheap tablet. It lacks Android Market but you can manually install APK's (these are the install files) from the SD Card. Plus there are alternative markets.
The only bad thing I see is the Resistive screen. I guess it isn't a kill joy but lots of android games use multitouch.
I'm actually wanting to buy it for my 4 year old son. He's showing a huge interest in my Nexus One and loves games like Angry Birds and stupid Basketball games and such. I figured it would serve as a decent web browser from the couch.
Supposedly the USB ports don't work out of the box, and the headphone jack is only mono. There are reports that an upcoming software update is supposed to fix them.
I'm new to the tablets, but supposedly the Sylvania is faster and more responsive then other 800mhz android tablets. So I am in the same boat. The Sylvania is around $119-139 which seems to fit the bill for my 4 year old. Anything else that compares that is rootable and upgradable from a rom standpoint.
All of these are resistive touch screen. I wouldn't pay $5.00 for a resistive touch screen on any device. So they have decent CPUs and ram, they run flash and can/will run Froyo? If they have a resistive touch screen, it's pretty much pointless. It's like using a ball mouse with my gaming PC, it just doesn't make sense to me. Just my opinion, nothing more or less.
Side note, for about $75-$100 more you could get a nice capactive touch screen tablet with even more features. Archos 70, herotab and a few others.
wth my post is gone.
Take 2:
Basically if I was buying one for myself, yea sure I would get a Capacitive touch. Lots of Android features requires it. But I'm more intested in the price point of $139. I'm looking for an Android tablet that will run games like Angry Birds and stupid basketball games for my 4 year old.
When he's not using it I might use it for couch surfing or something... but basically it is a toy for my child.
I'm not sure what the OP's primary uses are, but I'm looking for a cheap Android Tablet that has at least 2.1 on it and decent memory specs. I've been doing a lot of research tonight and I think the Sylvania is a winner. Lots of people are saying the run faster then most of the low dollar tablets out there.
One major flaw is the battery life is 3 hours. For me it isn't a problem as no one in my house should be on it for 3 hours. I just want to be able to throw a few silly games on it to keep my kid entertained and off my Nexus One.
[EDIT]
I just saw a post for the Maylong M-150 Tablet and it looks promising

For the kids, yeah it's a great price and product. I would much rather my kid have a tablet in his/her hands than a game controller. At least there is more of a chance they might actually learn something.
I ended up getting the sylvania and i am loving it. I have market working and Over on xda someone noticed a process called cell stand by was running and eating up the battery. Once i followed their lead and unistalled some apps they said to i am getting much better battery life on my sylvania. I am going on 3 hours of mixed use/standy and till have 61% battery remaining.

I ended up getting the HeroTab X5A from Merimobiles.com for $149.
800mhz
7" Resistive Touch w/ Multitouch
G-Sensor
Capacitive touch controls on the side
Glass top, metal surround
Android 2.1 w/ Market
Looks like it runs great.
http://www.merimobiles.com/Herotab_X5A_Multitouch_Gsensor_800Mhz_Android_2_1_p/meri0524.htm
Yea I've been playing with it. I loaded up Angry Birds and a few games he likes to test before putting it back in the box.
Yes it does have multitouch. I loaded Launcher Pro and lots of little apps. Runs great. The only issue is the only Widget available is Google Search. Supposedly the latest Firmware update fixes it but I had already wrapped it up for Christmas.

Thumbs up for 7 inch NVIDIA Tegra 2 Tablet PC

Do you often show off your stuff in front of friends, like a new released iPhone 4S, shiny sports mp3 or an Android OS tablet? Talking of tablets, do you have any idea that what kind of chips these devices use? Apart from Apple 5 used on iPad 2, NVIDIA Tegra 2 super chip is the top one that won the prestigious Computex "Best Choice" award this year.

NVIDIA Tegra 2’s technology is featured on some new high-profile tablets, like Motorola Xoom, T-Mobile G-Slate, and Acer ICONIA Tab A500. All of them are 10 inch large screen tablets. On Geartaker, the first 7” tablet pc that uses NVIDIA Tegra2 T20 is available now. It has all the features and advantages that the updated NVIDIA Tegra2 has. Here is a comparison graph in a performance test.
As you can see on the graph, NVIDIA Tegra2’s CPU performance beats all the other ones, two times faster than the second one AML8726. NVIDIA Tegra 2 upgrades the original CPU to the ARM Cortex A9, which is an out-of-order execution processor that offers 2.5 Dhrystone MIPS to speed up to 1GHz per core. It’s lucky enough to get rid of the low CPUs.
What’s more, the graph also shows good 3D performance. The ULP GeForce GPU gives excellent mobile 3D game playability. The game players can feel visually engaged with the 3D user performance.
The last but not the least, its video decode and power efficiency is thumping its chest about most. The video decode block of Tegra 2 can smoothly decode 1080p H.264 high profile videos. With a NVIDIA Tegra2 tablet pc, any place can be a cinema.
Apart from these, this 7” tablet on Geartaker has its own unique features.
7 inch Capacitive Screen
Most of the NVIDIA Tegra 2 tablets are 10 inch, which are not as portable as 7” ones. With a 7” NVIDIA Tegra 2 tablet pc, you can bring it with you in any of your bag when you are on a bus, on a trip or in a classroom. People buy tablets just for the reasons of portability, the touch screens, and the ease of navigation. So why not choose a 7 inch one instead of larger ones?
Good performance on multiple applications
You can get an exciting gaming experience on this tablet, whatever it is, Plant VS Zombies, Angry Birds, Speed forge 3D. This NVIDIA Tegra 2 tablet also supports cool applications, iReader, Documents to go2.0, Browser, Gallery, Calendar, Gmail and so on, which can help you manage your work and study properly.
Cheap price
This 7” Tegra 2 tablet offered on Geartaker is really cheap, at the price of only $262.2. You can search for other Tegra 2 tablets on the Internet stores and compare the prices. For example, Motorola Xoom tablet on Amazon costs nearly $470. For such a budget, why not just get an iPad2?
You can read detailed information and specifications about this NVIDIA Tegra 2 7” tablet through this link, and see if it is worthy of your thumbs up.
If this site had a "mark as spam" button i'd use it.
but on topic. why the hell would i do this when i can run honeycomb on something i can root and rom for $300? and is, y'know, in English? with actual functionality, and capabilities.
this is just another cheap knockoff tablet, albeit a higher quality knockoff.
you should also know that a lot of people here consider tegra 2s to be crap. not me, but a lot of other people.
so, thumbs down, not up.
Are you advertising for the company? >.>
If so please don't abuse xda for such.
Tegra2 is terrible for HD video decoding

I know you mean that a tablet with the system of android 3.0 will just cost you
$300, but the tab doesn't adopt android 3.0. However i don't think so.
first, Tegra2 tablet as a low-price one, android 3.0 is not a stable system for
these tablets.
second, android 3.0 is more suitable for tablet whose screen is as big as 10 inch
or ever bigger. Convenience is the biggest poit for 7 inch tab.
third, Android 3.0 is just a transitional and trial system, you might as well wait
for android 4.0, a much mature and stable system.
fourth, Tegra2's SOC is not as good as RK2918's in the aspect of HD decoding, but it can still meet the needs of 1080p decoding, just not available in RMVB format.
Anyway, this chip is adopted by large amount of manufacturers, which can of course prove the success of Tegra 2.
Last but not least, you words are quite impolite.

Exactly. So why should we pick your tablet? Will it have ICS within 3 months of ICS source?

first, i do not copy and paste a bunch of info., it is written by myself.
second, as a fact, it is not certain, cuz ICS has not been released yet, but the hardware of the tablet affords to run ICS.
third, since the android 4 has not been released yet. At PRESENT, such a tablet with such a system is suitable for others. Maybe you do not need such a tablet, but as a newbie, i need such a tablet, i believe many people are just like me, so, i know you r a professor, but pls respect us newbies.
I am just checking my tablet (I am a rookie) and I am completely satisfied with it. Hopefully in a few months I will be able to say if the processor is good for me,or if I need a better one.
That thing looks awesome.

I have the feeling OUYA will be a huge failure.

I remember all the hype for this Android based console that was supposed to revolutionize the mobile gaming industry but I feel that they have waited far too long, you can already get similar spec'ed Android stick computers for basically the same price. The only thing I now can see going for the OUYA is maybe the controller aside from the good looking case but looks don't matter when the cards are on the table and the sad fact is that the Nexus 7 is just as powerful as the OUYA is going to be, not to mention the Nexus 7.7 will be announced soon this year which will most likely drop the price of the Nexus 7 which will make that $99 standpoint of the OUYA look not so good compared to the portability of a similar spec'ed tablet.

Confirmed specs are,
Tegra3 Quad core
1GB of ram
8GB of internal ROM space
HDMI connector at 1080P
Wifi 802.11 B/G/N
ONE usb port
Android 4.0 ICS "NOT EVEN JELLY BEAN <.<" The community probably will quickly fix that though.
1 Wireless Controller
Compare that to the devices already announced "Nexus 5, Galaxy S4, Nexus 7.7, Galaxy Tab 3, HTC M7, Galaxy note 8.0... The list goes on.
And if you want to compare it to whats out now that will be price dropping this year "Nexus 7" Then the OUYA just doesn't fit in the "Good deal" Scene point of view. Lets not forget The Exynos 5 which will most likely find it sway into more tablets and phones alike and the Tegra4 which "If you have paid attention to what Nvidia has been saying" Is going to be their thinnest, most powerful mobile processor on the market which will be as much as 6X faster compared to previous Tegra based devices.

I say why buy a console and stay at home when you can buy a Tablet and bring it with you anywhere.
I don't understand why so many people are worried about this being "underpowered" So what if the Tegra 3 comes out this year. New tech is always coming out! It's not like all the games that are released from now on will suddenly *need* a Tegra 4 to play them. And it was announced a long time ago it would have Jelly Bean, whatever press release you have may have the info wrong. Also, I highly highly doubt the Nexus 7 will drop in price. It will just be dropped completely when a new Nexus comes out. The Galaxy Nexus didn't drop in price when the Nexus 4 came out, it just stopped being sold by Google! And yes this is more powerful than the 7 anyway because it has a fan, and is overclocked as batteries not a concern.
People need to stop looking at this from the "what is the hardware" stand point, and look at it from the "what is the opportunity" stand point. It's a great spec'd android dedicated TV box, that should have a huge cult following! Isn't that awesome? Isn't that what this site is all about. XBMC, modding, emulators, homebrew games. Have a little sense of adventure man.
I would imagine it can be hard to predict how well a product will do, probably a lot of factors need to be analyzed..
I feel there is a market for it but not sure how large ....Im not sure how good nintendo ds devices specs are these days but seemed a few years ago they where crappy and similar to gameboy or gamegear in gfx look.....my point is people are still buying and using nintendo ds......
Oh and products kind of go viral too....if they come from something well known or similar.. im not sure the fact it's android based will be something that pushes people to buy it though.
I remember when the original xbox was about to come out everyone was such a sony playstation fanboy and a lot of people didn't really want an xbox...and people wheren't interested in specs it was all about playstation2/sony being a known brand so they will have a better product.
seems now miscrosoft has won over a lot of playstation fans from back then.
i won't go into depth about movie trailers and movie quality and video games.
I don't buy a mmo until atleast 6 months after its release any more and if i have any interest i just follow it those 6 month via video reviews and forums.
But um basically my point is i gave up on trying to predict or be an early adopter or having hope in products.. i just wait and see and try not to waste brain power or money guessing . so if i do guess i just go with my first gut instinct and wait and see....my gut says....
OUYA won't be a huge financial success but could lead to or inspire something better down the line but i think tablet gaming is the future...just hook up the tablet or phone to the tv and play if you want so i don't really see the point in OUYA.
Odp: I have the feeling OUYA will be a huge failure.
Its not important what OUYA will be... Its exciting what "ouya" gen2, gen3 will be. However i think better option is smartphone+tv+2 pads. OR nexus Q as a gaming center.... Just dreaming...
In my personal life I can't see it being useful at all. But I don't think it'll be a failure.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
failure? really don't think so.
it will be always cheaper due to no need have a screen and battery and rugged body.
there will be huge and on growing selection of games.
it could be used as a great media streamer with the right adjustments.
and all of that for 99$? it will be godlike device.

Budget Android tablets are often of poor quality, don't come with key Google applications and used outdated versions of the operating system. At RMB399 ($69), The Allfine Fine7 Genius is one seriously budget tablet, but it does come with lots of features only seen on much pricier slate.

Design and Build
The front of the tablet is dominated by a 7 inch IPS display, around which is the relatively wide bezel. As much as I love black, the bezel of the FINE7 Genius does feel just too plasticky cheap. Sitting in the bezel above the screen is a VGA front-facing camera.
The back of the tablet is much more gorgeous, it is pure white and has fine texture. The stereo speakers are also hosted on the back, which can produce sound of very decent volume and quality.
Allfine is has taken the simplistic approach with the FINE7 Genius, only a power/standby button and a volume rocker are hosted on the top edge.
The right edge plays host to all the ports and slots. I don’t quite understand the choice of mini USB port over a Micro USB port, given the price, I’d bet it be for lower cost.
The slate is 10.4mm thick, not really as paper thin as many other more expensive slate, but still isn’t porky at all. 300 gram in weight is really nice for holing the tablet for a long time!
Display
The 7 inch display uses the same IPS screen technology seen in most tablets. It's covered in a scratch resistant glass, which should stand up to some abuse.
With a 1024 x 600 resolution packed into a relatively small display you get a very sharp-looking 169 pixels-per-inch. That's not quite iPad4 levels of detail, but it does make it very hard to see individual pixels. The display is bright too, with vibrant colors. It's a decent little screen, and would even be respectable on a device twice the price; for a budget tablet it’s simply incredible.
Performance
FINE7 Genius packs an Actions ATM7029 chip, paired with 1GB DDR3 RAM. For those who have read my reviews before, you know I have never been a fan of this SoC. But somehow I am okay with its presence here. With relatively lower screen resolution, this slate is much faster than the Ainol NOVO7 Venus.
Also, this slate has enough power to decode 2160P videos of different formats, but that’s more of a future function as the video resources at that resolution are pretty limited. Still, you can find enough 1080P videos to play on the Genius or output them on HDTV via HDMI.
Graphics are looked after with a Vivante GC1000 processor, which is capable of smoothly running all 3D games optimized for the Tegra ULP GeForce GPU.
Connection
The FINE7 Genius’ Wi-Fi reception is average amongst Chinese pads, not very good, but by no means disappointing. Connection is stable during my test, data transmission is decent, a lot better than the CUBE U9GT3.
Battery
The Genius packs a 3,500mAh battery, giving the tablet a 4 hours, 54 minutes run time during my battery rundown test, which loops a 720P video with screen brightness set to 30% and Wi-Fi turned off. Not amazing, but decent enough for a $69 slate.
Wrap-up
If you are looking for a tablet which represents the most cutting-edge technology, FINE7 Genius is not really your best option. However, for anyone who choose to buy this slate, you would get more than what you pay for.
The overall performance of the FINE7 Genius is average, but average is already amazing for such a low-price tablet.
Well i've bought this tablet and i'm waiting for it to arrive, it looks good for it price. Thank You for the review, it was most helpful, good to know that I didn't throw my money to the garbage while looking for a cheap tablet

Fire hazard!
I bought one of these last September. It worked perfectly for exactly two weeks, then one morning I connected it to the charger, and left it for no more than five minutes.
When I looked at it again, there was a white smear on the glass (turned out to be a steam mark inside) and the shell was hot and melting! The thing was dead, of course.
I contacted the Chinese supplier, and tried to get a replacement without sending the dead one back, but no dice: they insisted I return it for repair. So I posted it back to Shenzen. They emailed when it was received, and then again when dispatching it "repaired".
It arrived a few days ago, so more then 4 months had passed. Not my original one, which was warped and melted, but (I think) a refurbished one of the same model.
Naturally, I'm hyper-paranoid about leaving this one charging now. I have no idea if they have a generic battery problem, or mine was a one-off.
I have two Allfine Fine 7 Genius. I flash both of tablet new Rom, but the fault is same. The screens are don't answer. I tried to different rom and more again, but nothing else. The screens not working. Tablets are boots, but I can't do anything. I tried with USB mouse, but I have never worked for OTG function.
I tried to different PAD product tool (1.02 and 1.05 but same)
I have written to the allfine support (since more than a week) but did not answer me until now.
When I looked for in the web I fined more video the same mistake.
Please help. Can anyone suggestion something?

USB mouse works OK on mine with OTG adapter.
Sometimes, when I boot it, the touch screen does not respond. After a hard reboot (pin in "reset" hole) it works again. (Original stock ROM in mine.)

Gametab One Review

Hi there,
since there is no subforum for general Gamingtablets I post my review here because nobody talked about the device on this forum. Furthermore since there are much more Gaming devices than the OUYA, the Nvidia Shield and the Mad Catz Mojo, I think a subforum for general Android gaming plattforms would be good.

The device is called Gametab One. Like the wikipad it is a tablet with a custom made controller.
On my blog I wrote a review (link) and on Youtube I did a video with the emulating performance (link).
Because my review is in German I also post a statement I wrote in english on an other board.
Price
The advertised price is 200€, in spain it's even 250€ but I saw shops which offered it for 180€.
On Amazon France it costs 169€. This is the best price I saw for the device.

Build quality:
Since I heard so many bad things about alle these devices and despite being a product from a french company (BigBen) the device was also build in china I feared that the quality would be not that good. But I am quite impressed. The back of the tablet is metal and feels really heavy (but no too heavy). The controller shell without the controller does feel really light but combined I think it has the perfect weight for a handheld this size.
Alle the buttons, the d-pad and the analog stick feel perfect. I really prefer the classic d-pad, this was one of the main reasons not to choose a GPD G7. I already beat Super Metroid on the device and doing Walljumps is easier than with a SNES controller. I am a PS3 player and the PS3 controller has convex analog sitcks, but these of the Gametab One are concave which feels really great. The positions of the buttons are great too. The Select and Start buttons are build with a good quality too, but they click really loud when you press them (I sometimes play bevor sleeping and when I play an emulator which does not need L2 and R2 or L3 and R3 I map them on these buttons, so that my girlfriend won't get awake). L2 and R2 are buttons and no triggers.
The display is 1024*600 TFT. Therefore it does not have that great of a viewing angle and the resolution cannot compete to modern tablets. For gaming and webbrowsing it is enough though.
Ergonomics:
I really love the ergonomics. After playing with a Wii U gamepad I do not like to comeback to normal controllers like the PS3 controller, because I like the horizontal positioning when you hands are not more away from each other (therefore I prefere a GBA over a GBA SP). The ergonomics of the Gametab One are even better than on the Wii U Gamepad. I don't want to exaggerate but the Gametab One is the must comfortable handheld/controller I know.
Gaming performance:
As you could read in the "Setup Emulation"-thread I did take some time to setup all the emulators. But now they run just fine. All 8 and 16 bit emulators run just fine like on other devices. Scumm VM too. With N64oid Ocarina of time, Paper Mario and Super Mario 64 run great. On Mupen 64 Super Mario 64 and Mario Kart did run but Zelda and Paper Mario had glitching. PSX (ePSXe) runs really great. I already played some Resident Evil and nearly beat Tomba. With the PSP I played some The Legend of Zelda Return of the Hylian and tried Patapon, Prinny and Little Big Planet all play really good. Fifa 14 was playable but the commentary did stutter. I tried Resident Evil Code Veronica on Reicast, the cutscenes glitched but the rest was really good. On one playtrough the shooting animation always glitched but on my recording for the video it ran fine. I am not that big of a Mame player, but I tried Splatterhouse and it plays really good. Nintendo DS also runs fine.
I got GTA San Andreas for testing the performance, it run just fine. It made so much fun I nearly beat the complete story despite I have GTA V since 2 weeks and I did not play it for more than 10 hours. Even if a like GTA V more, I love playing on the handheld so much, that I prefered San Andreas over GTA V. I also tried Deus Ex: The Fall and Shadorun Returns, buth games run fine too. Deus Ex had one or two slowdowns. Besides all of that I only play leightweight android games like Plants vs. Zombies 2, Iddle Dew and Metal Slug, these games run of course perfectly.
Software/Firmware:
The Gametab runs on Android 4.2. The mapping software works perfectly. When I see videos of the GPD G7 and it's mapping software I think you can clearly see that these devices come from the same people. The Gametab comes with some preinstalled games, which don't are my taste of gaming. Oddly after deleting them they are still there on my app list when I look again for them.
Miscellaneous:
-Like on other devices the Gametab cannot be charged via USB.
-The sound outlet is of the back, because the controller can be removed.
-In my opionion it has the best design of all the Android handhelds
Conclusion:
I am really happy with the device. Like I said the D-pad alone is a reason against the GPD G7 despite I hear so many good things about it. I love playing with it so much, when I want to play GBA or NDS games I prefer the Gametab One over my GBA SP and my DS Lite despite I have flashcards for both. It is my first time that I can play SNES and PSX on the go without using touch controls with my phone and I already spent hours playing my favoring childhood games on the handheld.
I really love the fact that you can remove the controller. Since I am a student at university and I do not earn that much money I would not buy a tablet. But with this I can remove the controller and I have a normal tablet for browsing, watching videos and playing touch based games. This feature is not the main reason I prefer the device over others, but I think it is a huge advantage. If you buy controller solutions which work on several devices they often fit not perfectly therefore something like this would not be as good as this. This makes the Gametab One (and the Wikipad, but this again has a bad d-pad) a really good hybrid between a normal and a gaming tablet.
I really ask myself why the Gametab One does not get more popularity.
Why do you not interest for the device? Is it the price? Is it because it is hard to find a shop which is in english and delivers in your country?
If you have further questions just ask me. In the following days I will upload the video.

What I forgot to say:
It seems that BigBen thought this device would be a big succes therefore they put out high accessories like HDMI cable, screen Protectors or car adapters which cou can get for a much better price from other companies. But they also released a premium pack accessorie. It also has random crap like headphones, screen protector etc. but it also comes with a stand and a protection case. I really like that you can buy a protection case for the device, since most other devices do not offer one and therefore traveling with it can be dangerous.
okay buy
Now that I bought the dang thing, I wasn't paying attention and because of the old OS. Its one version behind having OPENGL ES3.0 to run a gamecube emulator. ANY help in that department, on who what how to remedy the situation? I'm terribly new at this.
Bought this tablet new for €100 at my local gameshop and am very glad I did.
All my emulators runs smoothly and the removable controller is really awesome.
Does anybody know how to root this thing?
I googled around and couldn't find much and the things I found I don't really trust.
I want root so I can use SCR Screen Recorder Pro root app to make vids from my games.
