(Request) Inverted Mms.apk and Gmail.apk - Moto X Themes and Apps

Does any one know of an inverted Mms.apk or Gmail.apk that is not white for 4.4?
I have seen a few on here that are only flashable in recovery.
I am on Verizon with a locked BL.
Thanks!!

Mms (and Google black Dialer) could be find as described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2606281. I managed to push the attached inverted gmail to the system/app too (original renamed to Gmail2.apk.bak, renamed the inverted to Gmail2.apk, changed permissions to rw-r-r) and it worked without problems. Soon I got back to the stock app after I experienced notification "Unfortunatelly,Google services has stopped" after every reboot. Later I found out that services crashes because of ART and inverted Gmail has nothing with the issue.

I have MMS but it is color option happy. It is my own work on the stock 4.4.1_r1 MMS app. If your into doing a butt load of colors pm me. Not enough post to post a link.

I made an inverted version of the cm mms app that I use. It works perfectly with stock rom including picture and video messaging. Allows you to send messages out to the groups in your stock contact app as well.

You can install them. Just extract apk from zip file, change original apk to apk.bak, push the new one to the same folder, give it original name, change permissions to rw-r-r and reboot. I've already installed inverted mms, gmail, play and music.

That's true. SMS wasn't extracted from zip. But everything else were. Did you follow the instruction precisely? You must either rename the original apk files (to apk.bak) or move them to the sd card (you always have chance to get them back from there). Then you must rename the new apps as original ones were named. And copy them to the respective folders from where the original apps were taken. With explorer which could operate with system applications. Then change permissions for every new app to rw-r-r. And reboot the phone. You might be asked after to confirm your gmail login credentials and that's pretty all. You should have all black applications totally worked.
I'm attaching all inverted apps which I have actually installed. And they are the last versions available.

Are we to only rename the original apk or do we also need to rename the odex file as well? I tried this on my N7 (2012) with the Gmail app and I am getting "Unfortunately, Gmail has stopped."
IT'S WORKING. I don't know why. Since it didn't work initially I renamed the original back from apk.bak to apk and renamed the inverted one blackGmail.apk and just left it in the system/app folder. It is now working but technically it shouldn't be working. Am I correct in my thinking that it shouldn't be working?
Thank You

Gmail has probably stopped because the odex file is missing. The files I attached are deodexed and the original ones were as well. But, hey, you've got better solution - why shouldn't you give this toolkit a shot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766475. It looks like an easy way and you'll gain everything: unlock, root, custom recovery, restore option... And with custom recovery you can flash every black zip you wish from here: http://www.designrifts.com/teamblackedoutapp/recently-updated-2/, no need to seek for alternative solutions..:fingers-crossed:.

You have nothing to loose. As long as you keep original files somewhere you can always get back with just deleting modified and pushing into the system original ones.

I understand, I also managed to install mms, google music, hangouts, but failed with keep (that is most inetresting for me as I hate white stripe in widget) and google now.
By the way I found this topic with themed mms for 4.4.x - works fine for me (bubbles 2 version ). Have not tested contacts and dialer yet: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2519733

I can't seem to find Google Now Search or Play Store in the system to rename or copy the Blacked Out one to. What folder would they be in. I looked everywhere that I could think of.

Via RE you will also need to possibly wipe the dalvik file or the whole dalvik if you don't want to locate it. I did not post a link so I don't know which one you have. One had one with the odex and one didn't. If you have the single apk then you should also try to remove the odex file and reboot. Don't just click on the file in RE to install but copy it over. The flash should work via recovery. droidjunk.com/junk/Dev_MotoX_4.4_MMS.zip

I did the backup
Then using root explorer copied that apk from my sdcard folder to my system/app and rebooted but it doesn't work!
I have a rooted N1 with the latest froyo build.
Update 1: I also tried to install that apk package directly from the system file and it says "Parse error" There is a problem parsing the package"??
Update 2: Also tried push via ADB but still no dice

I didn't get it to install too, I think he forgot to edit the manifest for froyo like with the microbes wallpaper.
Try this normal apk, created from the OP's port.
Oh yes, my build.prop has the sdk set to 9, thats why i didnt notice it. Adding to OP when i get to the comp. Its not intended to install like a normal apk.
New version with a lot of fixes:
manifest edited to sdk 8(2.2), cleaned a bunch of lines related to the other LWPs
deleted unnecesary files from raw and xml folders
optiPNG applied to reduce size
classes.dex cleaned
package name changed to com.android.nexuss
signed and installable. Thats all.
Can I install this without having root access?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Last version works with unrooted phones(supporting LWPs) without problems.
Thanks alot works perfect on desire.

How to customise APK's Images [EASY]

First off you need a deodoxed custom rom , next copy the desired APK's from your System/App folder or from the zip you flashed or from wherever.
Download and Install WinRAR or 7Zip and drag the APK onto the shortcut on your desktop. It should open it up , next extract the LDPI and the HDPI folder/s onto your desktop.
Edit your pics with any program e.g. Paint.net . Then replace the modified folder with the old one.
Next download SignAPKTics from APKTops and install that. Drag the modded APK to your SD card.
Click START , choose the APK , click next , choose Test Sign and click sign! Wait 1.5 mins! And ot should be done. Now just (with root browser) replace the old one with the modded one.
And re-boot! Enjoy...
hah great tip for us

I'm not sure if he has tried it with system app. replacing a file like systemUI.apk or framework-res.apk will make our device continously give FC message. we should use zip file to push the apk to /system/app. system app is also should not signed. I always using this trick without signing stuff and it works. we just need to make sure that we're replace the ordinary file (not the .9 one) and put a picture with same resolution with the original one.
Exactly my thoughts. Resigning systems apps is a big NO. I already did it twice (SystemUI.apk) and I ended up with no statusbar. Good thing I had a backup.

The easiest and foolproof method is to use Ninjamorph or metamorph app from market.I've modified tones of .pngs with them.
First open the apk with the app
Exit the app
Go to myfiles/Androidthemes/workspace/name-of-apk/res/
Then go to drawable ldpi
Take a look at all of the .png files
Find which .png you want to replace.
You should make your own pic with photoshop or anything to replace it with exact resolution and name
Store it in the sd-card
Open the app again
Go to Existing project/name-of-apk/res/drawable ldpi
Click on the .png you want to replace
App will ask you to replace it with some other .png
Navigate to the modified pic
It'll replace the .png
Then go back to homepage of app
Then click finish project
Tap on the apk name
App will ask you whether you want to replace the original apk
Do as you want
Reboot phone
Make a nandroid backup before everything. cheers

pushing it using adb is a more safer way, because if something goes wrong with forcing it to system then you can just repush the original system apk
you was replacing a running apk. there's no doubt it will give you FC message (lol). try your method to replace framework-res.apk or any system app/framework. b16h22 is right. your method is dangerous.

I can't try it now but in the version on android police photos sphere should work.
this is what you can read on android police :
Note: Original credit goes to XDA and AndroidCentral Forums but the download below contains a camera/gallery build that we patched to allow users of non-Nexus devices to capture and view Photo Spheres.
I' m sorry but I can't post the link for download because it' s an external link
I flashed the gallery (android police) 3 time but in the menu there aren't the new gallery and the new camera, there are only the old ones.
Then I fleshed the version on xda but the situation is the same. Any solution ?
It worked for me.....I flashed it but no luck..then I opened the zip and put the apps in their right places....then I rebooted and I saw 2 camera and two gallery apps....Using root uninstaller delete the old gallery...then you're free to use 4.2 gallery and camera..Don't forget...after placing the apps put their proper permissions ( rw-r-r )

Tried flashing through recovery, no success.

I push the googlegallery apk in system app, then i change permission in rw-r-r and owner in root- root. then reboot the device.
For me the gallery and camera work the only thing that doesn't work is photosphere
Now everything works! I pushed both apks into system/app, then pushed all the lib files into system/lib, changed all their permissions and then rebooted. Optional to delete old Gallery2.apk. Everything now works.
Note: photosphere lags. The blue dot moves at a per second basis. Will only take the first picture and lag big time, and gallery would force close afterwards.

Wow it is wonderfull and of the most delight design.
I used the .zip by androidpolice but figure out that the apk and libs were send to the wrong folder...
So following comment's advices I extract the zip and put the 2 apk in /system/app and the libs in /system/lib without forgetting to change permission as the other base apks and lib so: RW-R-R (all of this using solid explorer).
I also deleted gallery2 which suck^^.
So far this version of gallery is so SEXY and CLEVER, wow now the interface is very tiny and let a lot of space for taking pictures, etc..
The video mode work also good, maybe better than previous gallery on CM10-alpha3 Paranoidandroid rom.
I never expected something of photosphere, it launch but can't be used.
There is a possibility to retouch pictures, sweet!
The interface is neet, you have to see screenshots, just for that I recommend gallery 4.2.
One little point: no possibility to take pictures with menu button.(ok very small point)
Big problemanorama doesn't work for me, am I the only one or did I do a mistake?
For me, panorama works fine! The camera is so damn smooth :good: dhiru should implement it instantly if he released another JB 4.1- Build!!

Ok so thanks, I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1965895 link for 4.2 camera from xda instead of androidpolice's one and by doing exactly what I said earlier I'm happy that everything working smooth!
I was also able to took 2 pictures in sphereview ^^.
Ho and yes the panorama mode works.
Edit: the spheremod is working, I was able to take pictures, generate a file and then watch it in "3D"
Nevertheless for photosphere, pictures could only be taken following a vertical axe and I had to rotate a lot my arm so the result of my test is terrible: I had with a living room a composition of a door+ the ceiling+ another wall.
So the 2 remains problem with photosphere are that it is too slow, I mean to go to another blue point you have to move a lot and that you could only do it following one axe.
Edit2: The gyroscope seems to be the problem as said here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1965895.
Hi

Try reflashing your ROM if you can only go into recovery?
1. Extract the files from zip
2. Copy the GoogleGallery.apk and GmsCore.apk and paste into system/app, change permission to rw-r--r--
3. Copy the lib files (total 3) and paste into system/lib, change permission to rw-r--r--
4. Reboot.
5. Check the camera app and gallery if they're working.
That's what I did to make it work in CM10A3 and RemICS-JB, and also JellyBam.

That's what I did to make it work in CM10A3 and RemICS-JB, and also JellyBam.

Hey, thx for advice, but this solution don't work. I did it so, I install titanium backup, I did backup gallery file and uninstall gallery. Next I extract and rename file (like original gallery2.apk) and I go to system/app and copy files (googlegallery.apk and gmscore.apk) with change permissions. Now reboot and everything works fine. I have only one camera and gallery in menu. I change with this solution default desk clock and again work fine.

no they are not flashable zip.they can be extracted and then can be installed as normal wallpapers or normal apks.only the camera/gallery is a flashable zip
Camera/Gallery -> after flashing, nothing happen on CM10a3. still 4.1 U/I.
i dont know may be it does not work on cm10.if anybody else can confirm that it works or not on any other rom then i will search for another file or remove that file.

Add: some 1 mentioned it might require gyroscope, and it looks like problem in my case, actual movement doesn't respond to software white square in camera movement. you guys sure you got it totally working on sl?

Editing downloaded TW themes.

I am using a theme that I downloaded from the theme store, however I wondering if there's any way to edit the downloaded theme. For example I am wanting to keep the stock touchwiz keyboard and still have everything else themed.

I would think you find the keyboard in secsettings2 or whatever file all the system core files are in from the stock theme, copy it and replace it with the themed keyboard apk, and don't forget to set permissions to rx-rx-r? That's my best bet. @SICKMADE ? Am I close?

There's an easy way around it. If you're applying theme from theme store, all you have to do is delete theme.input files
Any app that deletes .apk files, will work.
Example*
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...roid.optimizer
Just find the .apk and delete than reboot. profit
Hit the thanks button if I helped you out ?

Yeah I did something like that, after I found the file I added a .bak extention to the end making it a backup, rebooted, and I got my stock keyboard back.

All you have to do is use a root file manager like root browser then go into your data/app folder there you will find all the apps you have installed onto your device including every individual themed apk from whatever theme you downloaded and installed from Sammy theme store... if there is something that you don't like or want from a particular theme ie. Icons or keyboard just simply scroll until you see all the apps from the theme you installed and delete which ever themed app folder that you don't want. Hope that made some sense lol.
