Google music All Access "thumbs-up" playlist disappeared - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Had anyone else experienced that the thumbs up playlist is completely gone? Mine has been gone for a few months now, and google claims they are working on a solution but I don't trust em. I am able to view the thumbs up playlist via the desktop web site, but not through the mobile app. I'm not sure if this is a N5 problem or a broader one

Its in the bottom left corner when you are in the (I guess you can call it) "Now Playing" screen. Thumbs up is on the bottom left and thumbs down is on the bottom right.

You mean when you pick an artist and select "Start Radio"? I get it there too.

Looks like I'm not the only one with this problem

If we're talking about the same thing, mine disappeared right after my trial ended.

I have the same problem.
I have all access for only a day but the thumbs up auto playlist stopped showing up on my phone. Even though it worked before I can now only view it on desktop. I tried turning sync for google music on/off, I refreshed music from Google Play (from the settings) and even uninstalled the app and installed it again. Still no thumbs up playlist.

All of my playlists have disappeared and I have no idea why.

As someone mentioned, mine also disappeared after the trial ended. I think that it's supposed to be that way. That way people will pay for the service to get it back.

The thumbs up playlist was replaced by the "Highly rated" auto-playlist for me

3 Finger gestures

Hi,
I just noticed, that when you swipe with three fingers from left to right or bottom to top the setup for media link hd app will be launched.
Has anyone else noticed that? And, even more interesting, is there any chance to launch custom app with these gestures?
Don
If I have that option turned on then Input Benchmark registers only two simultaneous fingers whereas if I turn it off it suddenly registers 5 simulaneous fingers.

well....it's to set up the media link....it's meant to do that....you didn't know about it before you bought it? it's not like a hidden secret thing or anything
once you set it up, you just do the same and it mirrors to your tv half a second later
How do you set it up? Do you need wifi on your tv for it? Looks like a cool feature but haven't really read anything about it yet.

All you need is this device (and a TV with HDMI, obviously).
Is there anyway to "emulate" that device on a PC?
Like XMBC or VLC accepting this stream?
Bump for question ^

HTC Car (Vehicle Dock App)

Am I missing something or does the car dock app not integrate with Google music or Pandora? I don't use tunein or store music on my phone directly so this app loses appeal for me. Any ideas?

I think there was a thread earlier today about this to. Im in the same boat but I use spotify. As far as I can tell theres no way to change the icons.
It's a shame that it cant be customized. I'd like to add Spotify and an app that detects speed cameras. I guess i will need to switch to the old car app that was abandoned by google.

Anyone figure out how to use Pandora for the car dock app?
since i'm on CM i'm using the original google car home. it can be customized fairly well. not sure if you can disable the htc version and use that one or not.

the original car home doesn't have ICS support, has CM taken it and run with it?
I've been using Car Home Ultra for the last few days and while it works and you can add custom app shortcuts, it's really ugly. It's the equivalent of a Geocities website with blinking text and animated GIFs.
If I knew anything about creating an Android app and I had the time I could make some decent spare cash building a beautiful car app.
I found the Google one on XDA http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1569027
Install both APK's works fine. Why HTC didn't allow there's to be customizable is beyond me.

(i see you found it) I just install the apk and have tasker (best app ever) launch it when it docks.
Does anyone know how to make the dialer go into landscape like it does in htc car mode?
You can use Rotation Locker from the play store, Gunny. Long press the Auto option to get the home screen and dialer to rotate.

Bit of a late reply but I've only started using the car app and encountered the same problem.
The solution is to go into the music app that comes with the phone. Here you'll see a couple of music related apps like tunein radio and soundhound. Click on the options icon up the top right and select 'add shortcut'. Add all the apps you want (pandora, spotify, music players).
Now when you enter the car mode the last app you added will appear on the bottom right. You can access all the media shortcuts you added by scrolling to the right twice.
Pressing the home button from any screen will take you back into the original screen so you can alter your music even when in navigation.
Hope this helps anyone using the car mode app.
No luck with that, either. TuneIn is always there.

Maybe it doesn't recognise the app your using as a music app?? I did it with playerpro and it does appear as the bottom right icon automatically.
What happens if you scroll to the right twice from the car mode homescreen.
One scroll to the right takes me to the default music player and the second scroll takes me into all the shortcuts I added using the music app.
I tested this with a random, non-music related app and it didn't appear on the car mode homescreen but did still appear as an icon when I scrolled right twice.
You should be able to swipe to the right twice off of the main Car Home screen, and that should give you all of the shortcuts that are in the HTC Music app. The bottom right icon on the main screen should then reflect the last app you used.

Yeah just to confirm, even if its not a music app it will still appear in the bottom right if that was the last of you shortcuts to be opened.

[Q] Specific Music App

So I was going through my phones music making a playlist and I saw that a bunch of my "obtained" songs had missing artwork, mislabeled and other things wrong with them. I was wondering if anyone knew of an app that fixed these problems on the fly. As in, downloaded missing artwork and fixed the names.
Also a great suggestion for an app would be to have the app listen to the song like sound hound or something similar and then auto grab the information and fix it for you. Maybe an app like this is out there and I just can not for the life of me find it or the name of it.
If someone can point me in the right direction that would be great!

App to auto shuffle music with touchless control

I made a tasker app to solve the music not starting using touchless control. At least it won't start for some of us.
I made it how I want it to work anyway.
Install the app. It will be called "Shuffle".
Do your ok Google now or whatever you say to open touchless control.
Say "open shuffle"
The app will be opened. It opens Google music, starts playing music on shuffle mode. Then goes back to your home screen. Then I use Bluetooth to control it...like next track and whatever. Or you can drag down the status bar and control it that way.
Works great for me! Thought I'd share it with those interested.
Of course you don't need tasker, cause it's an app now. But you do need root and have to grant it root permission. Don't know why....tasker just makes it that way it seems.
Enjoy.

Hey,
I downloaded this and tried it out and it didn't work for me. It opens Google Play but it doesn't actually work from there. I live in Canada, could that be why?
EDIT: I got it to work once but it hasn't worked since.

I'm in Canada. Does Google music app see your songs? Its worked for me consistently.
When it doesn't work...what does it do...?

What does the actual Tasker task look like? Tried making something similar, but was only able to clumsily pull something off using emulated screen touches.
Yeah, that's what I did. One down, one right, one press. Then home key...to go back to main screen.

I have Google Play Music All Access in Canada so that might be the reason why it isn't working. Here's what happens when I open the application.
It opens Google Play Music, Opens the sidebar and that's basically it.

If you have tasker....you probably need to pay around with the up down right..etc. dpad moves.
All mine does is open Google music and click the shuffle all "button"....nothing opens, music starts and Google just goes away and you are back to your home screen.

App drawer order

I got an honor 8 today and updated it to nougat. I've enabled the app drawer but the apps are only mostly in alphabetical order. Is this a common issue or is there a setting I need to press to get it to put apps in the correct order?

What do you consider the 'correct' order? I've always seen the app drawer organized alphabetically.

I've got Astro first, then Amazon music followed by Aldi. I've seen screen shots of it in reviews where it's just as bad. Poweramp isn't next to Poweramp unlocker, there's 3 apps in-between.

Yup, I see something similar too in their supposed alphabetical ordering. I can't really see a pattern in what they are doing except for maybe looking at the length of the name of the app somehow. Maybe a first overall parse on the alphabet and a second local parse within a starting letter on length of app name. Just a big SWAG on my part though.
For those having thought of rearranging app draw here is an email reply to me from Honor
Thank you for Contacting Honor Customer Services.
The app drawer is arranged alphabetically...kind of. It arranges by age then letter. This does mean that all "F" apps will come after all "ABCDE" apps.
There is currently no way to reorganise the app drawer. I am very sorry.
I hope this does not affect you too badly, and that you have a great day!
