Force 3g/no hspa build.prop - General Questions and Answers

Well hello again
At the moment I have a little problem.
When I'm in a building I realized that my network becomes unstable cause of the permanent switching of network e.g. from G to E or from 3G to H etc.
I noticed that my connection stays stable when I'm on lowest bandwidth of preferred network
E.g. when forcing 2g it's stable as long it's on G and when forcing CDMA it's stable as long it's on 3g.
Normally I solved this problem with the dialer codes for Android, but since I'm running beanstalk on 4.4 they don't work anymore. With that I was able to disable hspa or edge and force the phone to stay on g or 3g.
Now I'd like to know if anyone has an idea how to force that without dialer codes.
After my research I'm of the opinion that it'd be possible by changing something in the build.prop data
However wasn't able to find out how.
Help would be appreciated

[Q] Could this be a problem with my ROM and/or kernel?

I noticed that a lot of the time my SIM network is constantly switching between 3G and H.
I've got the latest Bugless Beast installed, along with Simple kernel 1.20.
Sounds like a radio deal. When idling, it should be on 3G. When data is being transferred, it'll switch over to H.

So how do I fix it? Do I have to flash another radio, is that it? If so, where can I get those?
Never messed with the radios, so I don't even know what to search for...

Make sure you follow directions and flash the appropriate one for your carrier. I've never had an issue like yours so I can't say for sure if this will solve it.

My understanding is that this is completely normal and working as it should.
The changing between 3g and H icons is not an indication of switching networks but just letting you know that data is flowing to and/or from your device.
i.e. when your 3G/HSPA data is idle your device will indicate "3G" and switch to "H" when it's in use.

I've found this in an other topic:

Switching between 3G and H is a feature of CM. It saves on battery as a 4G signal uses up more juice than 3G. You automatically switch to H when you need a faster connection but then will change back to 3G when you don't.

Verizon force 4G LTE?

Back on my Thunderbolt I was able to force LTE only, which comes in handy while I'm at work and don't need to worry about voice calls and want a fast data connection. In my office the 4G reception is just weak enough to push me onto 3G, but the weak 4G connection is still much faster than the strong 3G connection.
Google only turned up the *#*#4636#*#* / Phone Info app method, which works fine for disabling LTE but not forcing it. I can select 'LTE only' with this method, but the selection doesn't stick and immediately reverts to 'CDMA/LTE/EVDO' if I press back or restart or turn off and on the radio.
Can someone please detail a way to force a 4G LTE connection or shed some light on why the method I've tried may be failing?

I believe if you download the app called phone info from the market it has an option for lte only...not 100% sure but worth a shot

Using the phone info app is the same as *#*#4636#*#*, which, as detailed in op, doesn't work.

Ok and like I stated I wasn't sure if it would work and I do know it had the option...sorry for wasting your time by trying to lend a hand

No need to be defensive, thanks anyway.
:Bump:
I would also like to know if there's a way to force LTE.
or even a way to force 3g/4g only, no 1x. 1x totally kills my battery whenever my phone gets a bad enough connection, I'd rather just turn off mobile network than have 1x, but would be way easier if this was done automatically for me

Signal drops when data is enabled

In my Nexus 5 whenever I enable data signal drops time to time.I changed the sim card too but it didnt solve it either.Looks like it happens only in 3g network because I didnt notice it in 4G LTE.
No matter which ROM i have in my phone, this happened in KitKat (full stock), PA, Lollipop (full stock).
I put my sim into a Galaxy S3 and it worked fine. So I think this is a issue in my phone, not on the sim.
Anybody else having this issue?
Any solutions?

It finds the best network. If you enable it for voice only, I would imagine it would only look for best voice connection which could be 2G, but then when you enable data - it needs 3g. Just making a guess here

Thanks for the idea. I changed the settings to 3G in Preferred network type and looks like it has solved the problem! No signal drops for few minutes. Will test more and report back!

Phone won't switch back to 3G from 2G

Hi everyone.
I'm having a strange issue with my internet connection. The phone connects to 3G fine, but whenever a go into a zone with no or bad 3G coverage (at work for example) and the phone switches to 2G, it'll sometimes stay in 2G even after going into a good 3G coverage area (at home). It doesn't happen every time, but happens a lot. The only way to make it switch back to 3G is by forcing "WCDMA only" through the *#*#4636#*#* menu. I could just leave it there, but then I'd have no connection at all when I'm at work, so I switch it back to "GSM auto (PRL)".
Usually, when the phone parks in EDGE, the network settings don't change, it stays in "GSM auto (PRL)" but it just won't switch to H. Today, though, it switched to "GSM only" by itself, which it had never done before.
I had this same issue with my previous phone (Huawei ascend P6), so I thought that it was probably a problem with the SIM card, so I asked for a new one but nothing changed.
I've seen a few posts regarding similar issues but most of them are very old and none of them have been very helpful. I hope someone can give me a hand here.
I have a Nexus 5 running Android 5.0 - No root
Thanks.
My phone sometimes gets stuck in 3g instead of handing off to LTE. I just toggle airplane mode on and off and it immediately goes to LTE. I know it's not a fix, but it is a pretty quick way to get your data back.
Data connectivity issues are by far the most irritating, considering how much it costs to have a device like this...

Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately that doesn't work for me. The only way is through the #*#*4363*#*# menu.
That sucks man.
I'm not sure there is a fix for this. Other than Google fixing it in the baseband. You would think that if the problem were in the source code that this would have been resolved by some of the devs here on XDA. I have had these problems for a few years, and on other devices as well.
I guess I'll have to live with it. Thanks anyway, man.

Android 11 FORCE LTE wouldn't work anymore

Hello guy
I have updated my phone last week with android 11 official update.but some functions won't work any more
The important function is to force LTE app wont work any more.
When i use internet from the gsm providers some time when the antenna of 4g is far or weak the internet turned from 4g to h+ and that might drop the internet service.so i use force LTE to keep it at the 4g status.
Now the 3rd parties apps to force lte or force 4g doesn't work any more

That's something you have to write to app developer about and not here. Since we here cannot help you with that app, unless you want other suggestions on similar app that works on android 11?

I don't care about the app,all my concerns are about the functions that app was offering.so if there is alternatives that works with android 11 it's fine with me
