HTC Screen Wont Turn On- Please Read - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Hey sorry for probably recreating another thread but I wasn't able to get a real answer after reading through another thread on this forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1859339&page=3
On Pg.3 is the best type of hardware description of my problem I could find.
Anyways, My phone screen went black on Friday Morning/Saturday night while I was sleeping, When i woke up I couldn't get my phone screen to come back on so I reset it a couple of times and it worked, then it went black again. When it did that I googled the problem and found that thread above, started reading through and read that you could touch the screen and reactivate it, which is what I did and the screen came back on. After a day of use the screen has gone black again and will not come back on. Has anyone found exactly how to fix this issue in Repair? HTC has told me it would cost $200 but I believe I can do it myself for much cheaper. Please, any and all assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: just to be more precise, the phone still works perfectly and everything is functional on the phone, I can still answer calls If I have a LED flashlight to see the screen. Thanks again!

Do you have the HTC One X (Endeavoru) or the HTC One XL / at&t One X (Evita)? I ask because you're posting in the Evita forum but the link you provided is from the Endeavoru forum.

I own the HTC One X (AT&T) I apologize for posting in the wrong forum, noob mistake.

No you've posted in the right forum, this is the HTC One XL / at&t One X forum and that's what phone you have. I'm concerned that the link you posted is from the wrong device forum though, you don't own that device and straying into other device forums is a very bad idea. Our forum main page is here, bookmark that page and make sure you stay within it.
Now, onto your problem. You haven't really provided enough information, is your phone stock or modified? Did you buy it brand new or used? If it's modified, what ROM/kernel are you on? Also, can you please post the first five lines of your bootloader? If you don't know how to get to your bootloader here are some instructions, there are two methods depending on the state of your device.
With phone powered on
Hold the volume down button, then hold the power button (so you're holding both buttons together), the button lights will start to flash, they will stop flashing and the screen will go blank, after a couple of seconds let go of the power button but continue to hold the volume down button until you reach the white screen with text, this is your bootloader.
With phone powered off
Hold the volume down button, then hold the power button (so you're holding both buttons together), after a couple of seconds let go of the power button but continue to hold the volume down button until you reach the white screen with text, this is your bootloader.
Please post the first five lines.

I have tried to get to the bootloader page on my phone several times and it has not worked. I bought the phone from a guy on craigslist because i just switched to straight talk instead of AT&T. I'm starting to think that the phone had its screen replaced after reading through this thread at this forum:
http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f796/htc-one-x-strange-backlight-problem-1540929/

Every single Evita can reach the bootloader, if it isn't working it's a case of bad timing. Try again, ensuring that you at no point let go of the volume down button until you reach the bootloader.
A problem that is intermittent like yours suggests to me that you have a faulty connection. I do need to see your bootloader details before we can proceed any further though.

Sorry for missing earlier, says Locked.

It seems like a hardware issue to me but you could try running an RUU to double check. You can find instructions in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2593037
If suggest using the 3.18 RUU.
It's important to make sure you don't have SuperCID first though or it will brick the phone. Do you have adb/fastboot installed on your PC?

How to check s-off

Get,
I tried to check if ny sensation was s-off it on, but when I tried to go into the bootloader (holding power and volume down) it wouldn't do anything. I held it for like a minute and nothing happened until I let go off one of the buttons and then it turned on. What do I do? I realize that I probably do have s-on but I want to be sure.
Thanks for your help.

This was taken from the stickied thread. Try this if not, i'm not sure.
Pull the battery out before you do it. OR to make things ALOT easier, before turning your sensation off go into settings, power, and uncheck the Fastboot option. Now when you turn the device off, it will fully power down instead of just going into a "sleep" mode. Now do it.
what mjm said, check and disable fastboot and try again.
restart your phone and when the screen turns off hold the volume down button... should boot into fastboot screen
hope this helps

I'm really trying not to flame you, but this isn't the right place for this. There are riots about threads about S=off.
Pull your battery. Reinstall it. Vol down + Power. If it doesn't work pull the battery and try again.

I know you're still fresh to the XDA scene and learning about your new phone, but I wanted to point out that there are different sections for different things. This question should be posted in the Q&A section of the forums located here. The development area of the forums is generally dedicated to advancement of Android development: be it new modifications, ROM creation, or feedback, etc. You'll save yourself a lot of 'trouble' if you post in the correct areas. You'll find most are pretty helpful here when you follow these guidelines. Congratulations on getting your new device; these are exciting times for the Sensation. Welcome to XDA

HOX Stuck at boot "One" screen, Haven't Flashed Lately

I was on the phone earlier for a fair bit, when I hung up I noticed the battery at 4%. Got home little bit later and when I checked my phone again it was off, I hit the power button so it began to power on, and I them plugged it into AC charger right away while booting up. A couple of minutes later and I noticed it was still on the "One" boot screen (on a sense ROM at the moment, ViperXL 2.1.1). Tried holding power to reboot and it did the same thing.
Figured I leave it plugged in for a little bit, maybe battery was just really low. After about 30 minutes or so it was plugged in, still on the same screen (couldn't power it off it would just reboot). Tried to reboot again, and got stuck on the same screen. This time however I noticed the phone was quite hot, though it seems to be cooling down slightly since I've unplugged it, but not 100% sure.
What could be the issue/any ideas? I haven't flashed anything in over a week, last being ViperXL 2.1.1 and BeastMode Kernel 3.0. First time dealing with potential boot issues as I am always very careful when flashing. Any help is appreciated!
Try reading threads before you post. You may have read a thread that said don't post questions in General. There is a Q&A forum for this.
Anyways, try erasing the caches and rebooting.

Yeah I was thinking this might not be the right place but wasn't totally sure, I apologize.
I was having trouble getting it to boot into the bootloader as well, forgot to mention that originally, holding volume down and power wasn't working. However after not sure how many attempts I did get it somehow. Perhaps I was holding the buttons down incorrectly, I think I let go of power early the time it worked? Not sure. After a straight system reboot from recovery did not work, I tried wiping cache's as you said and it booted fine! Much thanks.
Again apologies from rushing to make a thread, just got kind of frustrated with not being able to boot into even the bootloader or just power it down for awhile, for seemingly no reason. Someone can delete this thread if they'd like. Thank you though!
maybe your phone doesnt like the overclock. not all phones can handle high overclocks and some cant work with ANY overclock. i would try letting the phone charge and flashing the stock boot.img

Almost always a matter of pilot error (as long as you have a charge light coming on, it should go to hboot no problem). Correct way is to hold vol down rocker, don't let it go, then press the power button for 3 seconds or so. Release the power button (but keep holding vol down). Don't let go of vol down until the hboot screen comes up.
If the screen is on, you can do the same as above, with the only change being: holding the power button down for 5 seconds or so until the capacitive buttons flash, then release the power button.

Future reference to boot into.downloader...
-lock screen like you would be putting phone in pocket
-hold power + vol down unroll screen goes off
-let go of POWER BUTTON ONLY right after screen goes off and continue holding vol down.
You'll boot into downloader just fine.

Sorry to resurrect a slightly old thread, but was there any solution to this? My phone just died last night and won't start back up. It just stays stuck on the loading screen. I went into recovery and deleted the caches just in case, but it hasn't fixed anything. I have a nandroid backup from a weeks ago that I can just if I have to, but I'd prefer not to since I'd lose the app data.
Any ideas?

Safe Mode One X

So I was fooling around with my phone last night and decided to undervolt to 75mv. It was going good until it suddenly restarted. But while it was rebooting I decided to short out all five of the dock pins on the back of the phone. When I did my phone gave a long vibrate (maybe 5 seconds) and when it booted up a large caption at the bottom of the screen said "Safe Mode" and all my user apps had disappeared. Just the apps that are hard built into venom remained and all my setting had been reset to stock. Rebooted again and it started up in normal mode but I had to go change all my settings back to what I had them. Never heard anything about safe mode on these forums so I decided to run it by y'all.
Yea HTC sent me an email awhile back telling me the way to get into safe mode. I'm sure they know about it here. Not sure if they do but probably. If you guys don't I'll post that email I got

Holding vol + during boot does the same. Its for diagnosing issues. Determines if its a 3rd party app causing an issue or not

Holding volume down rocker during the white HTC logo screen will put you into Safe Mode. Similar to bootloader, except if you hold vol down rocker before the white HTC logo screen, you go into bootloader. HOlding vol down rocker during logo screen start Safe Mode.
As mentioned, it just starts the phone with no 3rd party apps loaded. Its one of the first thing HTC support will tell you to do if you contact them on an issue/bug.

BE CAREFUL ABOUT PRESSING POWER + VOLUME UP. I have heard it sends it to Qualcomms download mode with no way of getting back. Your phone essentially gets bricked. I don't know if that issue still remains or if that's something fixable today but I thought I'd just leave this warning.

[Q]~[HELP]Sim unlocked at&t htc one x - Update?

Guys im using an AT&T HTC ONE X sim unlocked mobile in india. Now the OTA update has been released.
Do i get the update or not?.... On checking for the update, Its CHECKING...........CHECKING.......... finally says no update available...
How can i get the update.... ANY suggestion...HELP.....HELP......HELP
You can apply the update manually if you can find and download the OTA file. You need to make sure the phone is completely unmodified first though. Of course you could unlock your bootloader which would allow you to install custom ROMs (a ROM is an Operating System for your phoned), which are much better than the stock at&t ROM. Can you give me your bootloader details? To get to the bootloader there are two methods:
With phone powered on
Hold the volume down button, then hold the power button (so you're holding both buttons together), the button lights will start to flash, they will stop flashing and the screen will go blank, after a couple of seconds let go of the power button but continue to hold the volume down button until you reach the white screen with text, this is your bootloader.

WHAAAAAAAT, i thought one x+ refers to at&t htc one x as well..... Oh then i have to wait ah? am i clear...
No they're two completely different models. So yeah you'll have to wait, but I've heard the at&t update shouldn't be too far away.

Of course, we can only guess what "shortly" means. But it sounds promising.

my at&t htc one x is sim unlocked..

[Q] I think I bricked my HTC One X

First of all, I have no idea if this is the right place to post this. I am very new to this.
So today I decided I would try to install a custom OS/ROM whatever it's called on my HTC One X. I unlocked the bootloader successfully without any problems. Then I went on to root the phone, and this is where it all went wrong. I found a tutorial and followed it to the tiniest detail. I am unable to link to it because I am a new user. When my phone rebooted it went to the "HTC Quietly Brilliant" boot screen. I left it there for 30 minutes and it still didn't move on. What do I do now? I am a super noob at this, and I admit that I am an idiot for not reading more up on it first, it just all seems so super complicated.
Thanks in advance for any help and guidance.
You haven't bricked your phone, if it can power on at all it isn't bricked. Is it the HTC One X (Endeavoru) or the HTC One XL / at&t One X (Evita)?

I'm not quite sure, how do I know? Thanks though, puts my mind at ease that it isn't bricked. I can't turn it off now though, when I hold down the power button for a while the screen goes black, and then about 5 seconds later it goes back to the HTC boot screen.
How can you not know? If you don't even know which phone you have how do you know you're using the right exploits, ROMs, anything?
