[Q] A new question! Wondering if this is possible... - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was looking at my phone the other day and though I like the "Droid Blue" color scheme throughout the OS, I thought it might be fun to change it up. Is this possible? Easy, difficult, not at all? Does someone know where to find a procedure to do so? I was thinking of going with a red theme instead, just for something different...
Along the same lines, I read somewhere a while back that it may be possible to change the color scheme on Android 4.4 as an added option by Google within the software - can anyone verify this?
As always, thanks in advance!

4.4 is white and black, thank-goodness they got rid of the blue. Also, you should really take a look at the themes on the Play Store...

Thanks as always for your replies, it's to the point where I await your responses to my posts/questions in the RAZR HD forums
About the themes in the Play Store... Do they typically work with the stock OS / launcher, or do I have to install a different launcher for certain themes I find (as in the Red Light GO Launcher, for the GO Launcher EX app)?
I was also reading recently about the "Themer" (app?) in one of the threads here at XDA - any experience?

Most of the themes require a theme manager. However, you can use Xposed to install themes, if you're rooted. I haven't messed around with Themer or Go Launcher much. Most of the "themes" you can install on a launcher are only icons. The theme manager changes the entire look, just look at some of the themes for CM that are on the Play Store, you'll see what I mean. Xposed has a module that allows you to modify the themes and use them on most ROMs.

[Q] Newb: ADW not updating icons with theme

<fluff>Hi, Newb here. Since I watched the video, I hate myself, and I now know that you all hate me too. Made a major leap from a Samsung A886 (an...ahem..."differently abled" phone) to the SGII about 10 days ago. Currently swapping back/forth between Go Launcher EX and ADW EX after trying every other launcher available. </fluff>
Every time I switch to a different theme in ADW only some of the icons are updated to reflect the new theme, most retain the style of the previous theme and it requires a manual changing of the icons. Any idea what's causing this? Common issue to be lived with?
I searched, but wasn't able to find a specific enough reference.
Are you sure the themes you are trying actually include new icons for all the apps you have?
The one i use has 900+ icons in the pack but i still have to make my own for 5 of the apps that i use.
In most cases there is an existing icon in the new theme; sometimes a couple of different options. Could it be related to what the application is referred to as in the phone, vs the theme?
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

[QUESTION]CM9/AOKP theme chooser themes?

I want to implement my icons into a theme, and my questions are:
First question: Does the cm9/aokp (prev cm7 themes) have the capability of theming all application icons, including non-system apps?
Second question: Is there a way to make the theme only apply icons, and nothing else.
My goal is to create a theme that is just icons, due to the limitations of the theme chooser (my understanding is one can only have a single theme applied at once). This way someone could apply my icons, and then install a theme via flashing it, to have the best of both worlds.
Any help would be appreciated, I couldn't find an answer otherwise.

I Googled your question to find out that there's one theme in the play store that is a "cm9/aokp (previously cm7 theme)" they actually say they had to port it to cm9 (read the theme's info on play store), anyway the developer says that the icons come in a separate package -for the moment, IMHO and since these people have promised to have the third party apps in the coming weeks, then it is possible as long as there are people who have already been working on it.
Good luck.
Take a look at the Cobalt, Crimson Cobalt, and Purple Kush themes. They work really well and look good, they also theme 3rd party app icons (I noticed ES file explorer and Google Chrome were themed.) You can look through the apk to see the method of third party theming, i'm sure it isn't too hard with the theme chooser implemented.

Dark material theme with stock icons

Hey everybody!
I am looking for a theme at the Samsung theme store and so far I haven't come across anything that fits my criteria.
Well, I just want a dark theme (dark grey, not pure black), Material-like or close to the Touchwiz theme, without any custom icons.
A lot of the available themes have custom icons that theme a few stock apps making them stand out among the dozen of custom apps I have, in a bad way.
So, any suggestions are welcome. I am starting to believe such theme doesn't even exist, but here's to hoping someone has better search skills than mine!

Unfortunately, it says "not available yet". From the comments I gather it is not compatible with Marshmallow.
hi,
i'm working on dark side of mm with nearly stock icon just squared more.
All with pure black background, blue and white text...with some blue buttons.
Anyway if u have root, you can easily keep stock icons, and whatever apk you think.
Contact me, i will tell you how

Change golor of quick tiles in quick settings menu

I find the new quick tiles (light blue on white background) to be difficult to see. Is there a way to be able to change the color and/or contrast of these icons. I do not want to root the phone. Have looked at xposed, at a few apps from the store. Also a number of different launchers such as Nova, Apex, etc but could not find this functionality in them.
Thx

This is not a launcher feature. There are two ways I know of. The simplest is to get a theme in the Samsung Theme Store (found under system settings) with the colours you want, then just overwrite the background wallpaper and icon pack in your launcher if you don't like them.
I believe you can also use Substratum without root on samsung phones, at least for theming the user interface. Substratum Themes will give you more colour options and won't change your icon pack and background unlike Samung Themes.
Ideally find a Substratum theme labelled Samsung so you know it works, then only tick the android system parts. I have to appologise in advance because I can't post links yet. You'll have to find them in the Play Store yourself.
First, install "Substratum".
Then, you'll have to buy the "Substratum Integration for Samsung (Addon Key)" (if you find it doesn't work, you always have 2 hours to refund it from the play store page)
Lastly, find a compatible theme like "[Substratum] StatusBar Icons (+extras) for Samsung" and activate it in the Substratum app.

How to easily modify existing Theme

I reluctantly upgraded to android 10 and the basic Black theme I was using is now showing up with White notifications instead of black.
Is there a quick and simple way to modify an existing theme. I suspect not, but figured I would ask.
You could use,#hex or synergy to make a custom theme.
Alternatively if you wait until tomorrow, Goodlock and its apps are supposed to be OneUI2 compatible (3 Feb) Quickstar is the app that mods quick settings and notifications. Works on non root.
Thanks I've heard of hex installer but never used it. The other 2 I've never heard of. Will any of them allow you to edit an existing app or are you starting from scratch on all 3?
Thanks
I just installed hex installer, was not anything exciting. I was able to change the notification color but my default sms app had undesired affects. Hex installer alone will probably not cut it.
Will look at the other 2.
Im using synergy and substratum lite, with mainly liv dark and a few other themes where liv dosent have an overlay .
My current notifications are set to the overall background and i used an overlay to remove notification separation bar.
Thanks for the tip. I'm going to request to samsung to see if i can get their development tool for theming. Likely won't get far but worth a try
