That's on all android phones and not relevant to what the OP was talking about. IF nothing else I miss that from my SGS2 as well as it had good info. No such thing with the Nexus 5 but there should be apps or if you have LTE

I know the Nexus 5 has LTE support, but I just wanted to be sure before I purchase it, that it'll be usable on Verizon. Always wanted a Nexus device!

Won't work with Verizon they are of control freeks

Definitely a no go on Verizon. Pretty much everyone offers LTE now, and the Nexus 5 works with all of them... except Verizon.

I bet Little Red will get it next year... that's one of the reasons I switched carriers.
Seriously. Thanks guys! I was an inch away from buying it. Hopefully Verizon pulls the stick out of their asses and brings the Nexus 5 over. I get the feeling they just don't want a device of such a caliber to be sold through them at such a low price. Needless to say however, if the Nexus 5 comes over to Verizon, I'll have to retire my HTC DNA. Love it, but the Nexus 5 is such a sexy phone >.<

Jesus. Going with Verizon was the BIGGEST mistake of my life.

I ordered 2 nexus 5s and going to play ETFs and never touch Verizon again

So, what's the basis for the incompatibility? Is the Nexus 5 just flat-out incapable of working on Verizon if I were to plug in a Verizon SIM?
Will Google have to make another version of the 5, or is this something that can be rolled out with a firmware update?
I've given up trying to understand Verizon's customer satisfaction strategy, but want to understand the nuts and bolts of why it won't work on their network.

Yeah, I bought a 32GB version today too only to find out that it will not be compatible on VZW. Luckily, my contract is up pretty soon, I think. I plan on going to my VZW store and finding out the exact date. But yeah, I'm hopping off of VZW as soon as possible. I'm so sick of their nonsense. AT&T Straight Talk, here I come!
Are the radios better then the nexus 4. My service was alwaysnup and down with the N4, and wouldn't have service places I used to. Hope they didn't go cheap on this end. It is still a phone.

Well. I guess I can wait until Monday. Lol. Also. Ups delivers commercial early. Drives by about 10am. I work 2-10. Can 2nd day air go with commercial? Had em drop off early once or twice

Why bump? It looks like you are having a nice conversation with yourself
Lol. I'm kinda concerned. N4 sucked. But guess I will wait until tomorrow and quit talking to myself. Ha

Lol people with the n5 is probably too busy playing with their new device

Yeah. I agree. But when I'm at work and don't get service because crap radios.I won't be playing with it too much

My Signal strength is better than with n4.
Don't have mine yet, but have a feeling it will be better!
Well that's the thing about radios sometime it may work better for someone else and sometimes it doesn't

To answer my own question, the Nexus 5 is getting way better service than my Nexus 4. On wifi and on tmobile

I actually had worse cellular radio performance out of my Nexus 5 compared to my Nexus 4 while using it yesterday. Inside my office, I'm pretty sure I was averaging fewer bars, and the N5 couldn't decide if it was going to connect to 2G, HSPA+, or LTE. Outside, it flipped between HSPA+ and LTE as I moved around (mostly driving, but a few times even walking around a parking lot).
So, I'm not sure if it's my particular N5, or N5s in general, but so far I'm not impressed with its cellular performance relative to my N4.
I'm getting better performance so far, which I'm glad about as I also had a pretty bad time with the Nexus 4 over other phones. The 5 isn't amazing, but it's alright and acceptable to me.
I'm getting generally worse reception, especially inside at work. Before with my N4 I got perfectly acceptable reception where I sat. Now with the N5 I literally get nothing.. nothing at all. It won't even give me a smidgen of reception. I have to walk towards the front of our building to get anything.
Anyone else experiencing something similar?
*edit*
So in a completely random way I turned data roaming on and off just for ****s and giggles and within 5 seconds of turning it off I all of a sudden had a full HSPA signal. ????? It appears to work flawlessly now.
My signal on the n4 jumped all over the place. It holds still full and I don't lose service now in a town I drive through. I get WiFi outside my house that can stream video when my n4 couldn't at all.

I have better dbm signal strength on the N5 (comparing to my GS4) in pretty much all locations I've been to so far.
I'm getting better reception than my note 2 it seems. Very happy so far.

Overall, this seems to be the case for me as well. And I'm comparing for reception underground (basement level) where I work.
It's better then the Nexus 4, but I'm using it on CDMA and it's CDMA reception is less then the HTC EVO 4G by 1 bar.
I've had the galaxy note 2 and iPhone 5 in the same place I am living at right now. But when I got the Nexus 5, I barely ever get LTE signal. Instead I get like one or two bars of the 3g... Why is it so bad?

Yeah google, to save costs, used a weaker antenna.

Has I missed but has anyone tried using the nexus 5 with a T-Mobile Sim outside USA? It doesn't work. I never knew it was the phone until I took a old unlocked from Att phone with me and as soon as my nexus lost signal I popped my Sim in the iphone and got full signal. Next I tried with a T-Mobile Galaxy s4 nexus lost signal S4 worked like a champ. Called google and the first person I talked to told me it was a known issue and her husband takes a back up phone when he travels. The next person told me to call Tmobile.

This is the nexus 5 thread and why are you posting this in a dev section anyway
^ because he wants a magical elixer, secret potion, or flashable .zip to cure his problems and increase his benchmarks.

Hello,
I bought a Nexus 5 in late 2013 from the french playstore. Now I have moved to the US and I am wondering if the phone is expected to work perfectly on AT&T or if it will have some restrictions.
It is unlocked, rooted with stock (5.0.1) if it matters.
It seems it cannot benefit of LTE / 4G of AT&T but I would like to confirm that (maximum i can get is HSPA +)
Thank you!
Jon
It'll work just fine up to HSPA+. I use a D821 from Australia on H2O which is an MVNO that uses at&t.
