[Q] Huawei G700 - Which ROM + Overclocking? - General Questions and Answers

Hello XDA,
I have the Huawei Ascend G700 (click for specs). I've known from previous experiences that flashing another ROM is a good thing for better performance and I don't like the Huawei Theme anyway.
Information You Need
AndroidTM 4.2(Jelly Bean)
Huawei Emotion UI
Quad-Core 1.2GHz processor, 2GB RAM
Now I'm asking, which ROM would you guys advice for my phone? Pro's and con's are welcome!
AOKP
CyanogenMod
Liquid Smooth
Illusion
Since I'm a complete noob, which tutorial do you guys advice for not bricking my phone. I've done a Dronix flash before but lost my stock ROM I think so backup needs to be covered. YouTube links are welcome!
XDA - [Tutorial] Root, Unlock, Recovery and flashing a Custom ROM
XDA - Flashing Guide - Android
Youtube - Android Tutorials [15] - How To Install Any Custom ROM On Any Android Device
Are these good tutorials? There are so much but most of them don't cover every step clearly...
Also, how far should I overclock the 1200MHz processor so I don't melt my CPU down? I've read the rule of thumb is to overclock only 20%, so 1440 MHz would be a good choice?
Sorry for the noob questions
Thanks

No help from me, I''m in the same boat. But a little kick cant hurt.
In other news: I'd like a different kernel for overclocking. Standard kernel doesn't support it. (surprise!)

[REQ] How to make custom compatibility pack for CyanogenMod 10?

Hello!
I'm dealing with some branded tab KIANO BLADE CITY 2.
It has Alwinner A10 soc with 512 mb RAM and Mali-400 video.
So would like to install Unofficial CyanogenMod 10 from this thread, but I came to conclusions that I need my own compatibility pack first.
At this point I have fully working ROM with Android 4.0.3 for this tab
http://www.my-server.pl/kiano/cityII/soft/android4-BLADE-CITY2-ver2.img
As I have no previous experience with Linux or android I request some help with creating custom compatibility pack out of original rom.
Thanks.
To be sure. What does a compatibility pack mean to you?
I'd recomend posting this on the rom thread btw.

Compatibility pack is the one created for each device in that CyanogenMod 10 thread. It contains kernel modifications for each device. For ex. without it you can get not working wifi or touchscreen and so on.
I can't post myself anything in developer section because of newbie restrictions. If you don't mind, you can post it there for me.
Thanks.
I'd recommend helping out people like I did .
I don't own such a tab but if you want me to ask it just send the thing you want posted and the thread as a private message .

Did you ever get an answer on this? I am looking for a compatibility pack for my tablet.
Thank you!
Sorry, but no. I have too few reputation to post my request in the appropriate thread so I stuck...
But you have 8 posts already, so +2 and you good to make a request yourself.
I hope that guys in the original thread will be able to help, especially as we have working ROM, which can be used for making compatibility pack, as I presume.

Hi! I have good news!
I was able to "port" original drivers from my stock rom for CarbonRom 4.2.2 and for CM10!
Both roms have full support for touch, gsensor, camera and wifi (CarbonRom has wifi drop issue but it is common problem for all devices).
CM10 is slick and fast. About ~1 min boot time (faster than stock one), a lot of drivers for usb devices.
I have goodix_touch_811 touch driver and dmard06 gsensor if you are interested.

Overclocking Stock ROM/Kernel

Hello everyone, this is my first topic on XDA after lurking for a while!
Anyways, today my topic is going to be concerning an Android Mini Tablet called the PlayMG. It's a WiFi tablet by a startup that's now gone bankrupt. The actual name of the device (development-wise) was the ACTScom A930. It was supposed to be a small 4 inch tablet like an iPod Touch with Android. You can find various info by googleing the name.
The specs go as stated:
ARM TCC8920 @ 960 MHz
1 GB RAM
4 GB DDR3 Storage
Android 4.0.4 ICS
Geekbench test:
http : //browser.primatelabs . com/geekbench3/356000
(sorry, I'm new so I can't post links until 10 posts)
The device was pretty cheap (around 90 dollars) and since then I've rooted it. I had to use SafeRoot because there is virtually no support anywhere for this device. As you can tell from the specs above, the device is fairly weak. My goal is to overclock the device to run at around 1.10-1.25 Ghz, however I'm stuck on the stock ROM and kernel. And as you can probably guess, there is no one to develop and overclockable Kernel for it. I have a few questions that I would like answered:
I was wondering are there any methods to overclock the stock kernel? Is that pretty much impossible?
Are there any ICS (or any) kernels that might work on this device?
Could I build the Kernel myself?
^Questions regarding this:
-Since the company went bankrupt, I can't really obtain a stock kernel, Could I somehow extract it from the device itself?
-If I were able to get the kernel, where can I go on XDA to guide me to building an overclockable kernel?
Does anyone have any ideas on how to overclock this device? I'm accepting all ideas, good or bad!
Thank you everyone in advance. All responses/knowledge is welcome!
Im also looking forward to this... Have a samsung galaxy star pro... Have compiled stock kernel from source successfully... It works... Nw i need to add oc nd everythung... How shuld i do it??? It is a spreadtrum device...
Anyone?

[Completed] [Q] Prestigio Multipad 4 Ultra Quad 8.0 3G OverClock or Custom ROM

Hi Everybody,
I'm lucky to have a PMP7280C 3G QUAD Tablet, because it's price/performance(value) is very good. Quad core at 1,2 GHz with 1 G ram. WARNING: It is freaking lack of rom customization: Hard to be rooted, have ever not found a custom rom or an overclock option. Ive managed at last to root it with the vroot method. BUT, I cannot overclock it (It would bear it) There are no custom roms, even not Cyanogen. My Android knowledge level is maximum at a semi power user or less so I cannot edit kernel and things like that. If there is a description, how to install a rom or recovery mode, I can do it. I have searched for descriptions such as, but haven't find one. I'm 99% sure, that this factory kernel does not support overclock. But where is a kernel does for this cpu? It is MT8389 but as I see it's equal to MT6589 (in the instruction sets and other hardware specs except clock speed so tuning is the same might be).
Please if anyone can help to find a working kernel or custom rom for this device, let me know. This hardware could be much better if it could be overclocked or customized in the rom. Factory rom is old and has lot of useless apps and feats.
Thank You

[Completed] Custom ROMs For HTC One V (Differences, Bugs, Info)

Hello,
I am new to this site, and new to this thing, but I am interested to update my HTC one V with some custom ROM (jellybean or higher) and I wanna know some info about which one is the most stable and popular one, with no bugs or trivial bugs.. It is frustrating because they are plenty of ROMs and kernels here.. and what is the difference between AOSP and AOKP version? somewhere I read that aokp is less stable but better... I actually want features included RAM and CPU clocking, because this is the coolest thing in these custom ROMs.. :cyclops:
- I have HTC one V (GSM) rooted and bootloader unlocked
- I have CWM recovery 6.0.3.3 installed
- I have official android v4.0.3
so which ROM you guys prefer to me and which kernel that goes along? and is my CWM version ok or I need other one?.. I really want to get more of this phone than I am getting now.. it's a really nice phone but it's a bit lazy when operating tasks, so it's not for impatient users
I am new to this, but I somehow succeeded to root my V, thanks for detailed instructions on this site, so thanks to you guys ..now I just have to update my ROM, and I will be more than happy

Question - Wich LineageOS based ROM is Overclockable ?

Hi everybody.
I have testing some LineageOS based ROMs lately in my P5110 and P3110 and found no overclock option so far ?
Considering the low hardware profile in our tabs and the actual real overlclock, better user experience and battery tunning / real gain we get with some CyanogenMods 6.0.1, I see no point using, until now, the new LineageOS based ROMs!?
So I ask: Is there any known LineageOS ROM or compatible kernel with overclock potential that allows to improve the user experience as the "old" CM 6.0.1 does ?
Thanks

No luck here as well mate, I've been forced to stick with CM13 since OC and themes are a must for me
Best user experience, for me, is with CM 6.0.1 from "[ROM][P31xx][P51xx][MM][6.0.1][Linaro][SaberMod] CyanogenMod 13" (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2686613) and "[ KERNEL - AOSP] Dhollmen Espresso" from (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2176563&page=138).
Can run everything I need with good speed and make tweaks to allow battery savings even possible!
Hello everybody.
I have read previous answers, thanks.
Considering the time since the original question, I would ask again:
1- if there is no option so far to add an overclocked kernel to our tabs ?
2- I am not a developer, but maybe I could get the info needed to build my own overclocked kernel and share it with the forum, where to start from ? I think these would really be faster for those already with the proper skills to do it! I mean: do you developers really use your tabs without overclock nowadays ?
Thanks again.

1-There is still no overclock available.
2-I am not a developer (yet) but I think the tab is fast enough as it is (running Slim7 if you want to know) and I don't think overclock is necessary. The place to start for building a kernel is google. I think I saw a guide in the past.
Also, keep in mind that devs make things because they want to and get no reward for that. So don't ask or press them to make anything. If you create your own kernel it will be greatly appreciated, but I think you wouldn't like people constantly asking you for something (and yes, overclock has been asked for a lot of times in the past).
