[Q] cwm advice - Samsung Galaxy Tab Plus

Hi all
I have samsung galaxy gt P-6200 ; android 2.3 __ P6200XXKL7__kernel2.6.36......and I just root it.
Rooting was easy ; cwm.zip started fine but didn't work, it's froozen at REBOOTING SYSTEM, so. ..I reboot.
Now what cwm recovery do I need ? Because I want to do a nandroid backup of my stock rom, than flashing custom roms.
I made a lot of search in Xda and internet about android 3.2 but no luck...Or I'm missing something.
Thanks a lot

Hi again
I installed from market online nandroid backup, made a backup, than this cwm : p6200_CWMR_20111214.5.0.2.7.
Now cwm is working, and still there even if after factory reset. ( I made a second backup).
Both Backups are in the internal memory.
Will bacup works after flashing new roms even if they aren't in external sd card ? Can I flash because this ( >*[ROM][4.2.1] Android Open Kang Project - JB MR1 UNNOFICIAL) didn't work.
Thank again

I flashed stock rom P6200XXMC3 with odin ; every thing works great.
Now my bedroom looks delicious !
see u

Hi

Hi
As I can see its an upgrade not a flash.
Ther's no difference between Roms if they are unbranded , I had XXKL7 and upgrade with XXMC3 .
I lost cwm recovery too , I think because of the stock rom.
Is that correct ?
thanks to our XDA and developpers
Good luck

Hi
I flashed cwm recovry 6... , super user than I made a nandroid backup.
After that It was time for the wonderful custom roms in the development section ...waaaaw , It's faster than ever and very easy to install , they are great.
See you

CWM Backup query - recovery takes off ICS and puts back Gingerbread HELP!

I recently put the newest ICS Lite'ning Rom onto my S2 having backed up everything onto my SD card using CWM. I was previously running Lite'ning V4.2.
The new Rom was successful but when I went to restore all my apps/layout etc from CWM the phone went back to how it was before (V4.2).
I realise that this probably sounds obvious but I had (wrongly) assumed that the CWM backup would restore everything but keep the new Rom.
I am quite new to this, but is there anyway I can download the new ICS Rom and then restore everything I used to have on it without going back to the old Rom.
Please don't flame the newbie!
Ohhh lol its fine. Everyone makes mistakes.
Let me cover the basics. Cwm will restore everything( system, SD card...etc)
OK just download a supported rom. Best to do a clean install. (Search that) . Flash the from, flash the gapps. Reboot once, flash kernel if you want only after the reboot. Sync your email and install the apps.
Unless you did a back up before you stuffed this up just re install back up.

Thanks TigaTiger - great help. All done and very happy.

Make a nandroid backup before you flash so you can go back to stock (but it's unlikely )
Yest, but nandroid not making the whole copy of system.
Without kernel , etc.
I want to get android 4.04 from samsung but I can't find this firmware XXBLE2 just older ones.
Hi,
Same problem for backup :crying:

You can try to install CWM first and then backup your system using CWM. When the backup is finished you can flash CM9 and if you don't like CM9 (most unlikely) you can restore the backup you made from stock using CWM.
Even CWM not copy kernel.
If I install CM, later I won't be able to restore the whole system- not be working because of CM kernel.
In that case somebody know how co copy the kernel from my tablet ??
Which are the bugs in cm9 experimental 4.0.4 for p5110?
I do not what bugs are in cm9 but If will be something wrong I want to back to my stock 4.04 ( I can't find stock 4.04 rom from samsung ) but if I make a copy by CM I still have to make a copy kernel but I don't know how to make it.
btw:
On CM9 everything working ?? ( wifi, bt, gpu, deep sleep, )

[Q] (How To) (Galaxy Tab P3100) Restore Stock Rom (4.1.1) from CM10.1 Milestone 2

I have p3100. I just installed Cyanogen Mod 10.1 M2 on my galaxy tab P3100 .
I am not liking this rom . No offense. But the stock Rom was far better.
My plan now is to install Sungsonic Hd. It looks cool and have all the features of Stock with extra features.
Now, AFAIK before installing this rom, i have to revert back to 4.1.1 from 4.2.2. (because sungsonic is based on 4.1.1) Right? If not please correct me.
Now, please tell me if i can directly install sungsonic hd? or if i have to install the stock firmware?
If i have to return to stock firmware, how can i do that?
Important
I have Odin3 1.85. The stock Rom file and ARIESVE.ops (somewhere i found that this file is needed to revert back to stock rom) ..
Now how do i use these files and return to stock rom? Please xplain it in steps if possible. Also tell me what do i need to wipe and etc. Like do i need to do wipe cache etc?
Thank you guys. I love XDA developers btw. :good:
/ok guys.
Now what I did is that i installed Sungsonic by CWR mode by choosing zip from sd card. I wpied all cache and did factory reset.. everything as the page of this rom suggested.
I have been able to install this rom easily but i think something is wrong. 4 or 5 apps are not opening properly. When i click on widgets bar, the system ui crashes..
Now, how am i supposed to revert back to stock rom ?Now my current ROM is Sungsonic rom
You should have made a backup of your stock ROM, before flashing anything. This would have made recovery quite easy.
Well, i didnt make any backup or anything.
Now, can i revert back to stock rom?
Well, guys i just installed the custom rom by choosing stock rom md5 file in pda. Then installed.
All went sleekly. Thank you guys. Now I will be Installing a new rom again. Please delete this thread mods.

[Q] what happened?

DEVICE : SAMSUNG GALAXY FIT GT S5670
CURRENT ROM : GB 2.3.6 STOCK
I rooted my device a long time ago..but flashed the recovery few days ago only.
So here's what happened?
i flashed "AMON-RA RECOVERY"..then found it to be old.
then tried to flash the "TJ-STYLE RECOVERY" ...BUT SOMEHOW IT DIDN'T WORKED and ODIN was taking very much time.
so aborted and then flashed "PRATYUSH.CREED 'S RECOVERY"... as mentioned in the guide in the forum that this could backup the STOCK ROM.
THEN as mentioned in the guide i took a NANDROID BACKUP of the stock rom ...(didn't knew the backup was successful or not)..
after creating the backup i tried to flash OFFICIAL CYNOGEN MOD 7.2.0 NIGHTLY.ZIP but the process ended very quickly notifying of successfull flashing...
instead when i rebooted after showing the sumsung animation the Device got hungup at a black screen with android written on it at a little right.
then i tried to restore the NANDROID BACKUP...but the recovery showed MD5 ERROR..
I thought may be a unlocked BOOTLOADER is required ..i googled it but couldn't find the procedure...
i then downloaded and flashed a STOCK_GB_2.3.6.tar.md5 rom..
this worked BUT REPLACED THE CLOCKWORKMOD RECOVERY WITH STOCK RECOVERY
.
.
.
NOW THE QUESTIONS :
1.why wasn't the NANDROID BACKUP successful ?
2.why didn't the OFFICIAL CYNOGEN MOD 7.2.0 worked ?
3.how can i unlock the BOOT LOADER if it is required for the CUSTOM ROMS ?
4.why the CUSTOM CLOCKWORK MOD got replaced by the STOCK RECOVERY on reflashing with stock rom ?
help me ...

i m a complete noob, but i will try to help u as much as possible ...
i think, there was a prob with flashing of custom recovery,
i m also on custom recovery (dunno which one) i flashed it as flashable zip frm recovery {i think i installed tj style fr odin then flashed the present recovery }
Also, wen u flash stock rom, u need to root it again ..
nondroid problem? mayb due to recovery problem ..
bootloader thing? sorry i dont knw anything bootloader thing ...
If i were u, i will first install tj style recovery from odin(it roots ur phone too, so no need to root it first) then either use it(its said to b most stable recovery around) or flash another recovery as flashable zip frm the present recovery ...
(i will avoid using odin fr each nd every thing ...)
Hope this helps ^^

HOW WOULD I DO THAT..?
means the tj-style recovery i have is in TAR format...
should i UNcompress and recompress it in ZIP format... ?
AND WHAT POSSIBLE DISADVANTAGES COULD BE FOR THE ODIN ?
1) Nandroid Backup works only for custom roms. For stock roms u can only take a backup but u cant restore (there's a recovery by pratyush.creed which does restore too but i didn't try so can't say)
2)Perhaps u didn't flash properly so it went into bootloop. Use CWM by TJ-style only and next time, wipe data, cache and dalvik cache and format /system just as a precautionary step before flashing custom rom.
3)Samsung Phones doesn't have locked bootloaders. So to flash a rom, u can do it easily
4) The stock rom u flash via ODIN contains stock recovery as well.
U cant flash recovery unless u have other custom recovery (well there is a flashable zip for CWM by tjstyle but i dont know whether it can be flashed via stock recovery). The only way u can do is through ODIN. Make sure ODIN is set properly and if u have windows 7, run it as administrator and better reinstall drivers.

Nandroid backup
The first part of your journey is to learn about how to perform a Nandroid backup. There are lots of resources available if you search XDA and/or Google.
Here is just one - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1713869 (which points to a decent external article of the subject)
You will need to get a custom recovery onto your device in order to perform the backup. Personally, I used TWRP and have found it to be excellent far. Good luck!
Install CWM recovery via rom manager and reboot in recovery. You can backup your rom there
You must have any recovery in ur device.
Reboot into recovery and choose backup and restore option and do a complete backup of ur device
