Zipthemer for Moto X - Moto X Themes and Apps

Hi. has anyone used Zipthemer to change lockrings and softkeyz etc?
Like the Nexus 5 has a thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2514238
to edit everything, can we use it for our moto x?

I'd love to know this, too. I've never really used Zipthemer, but I've definitely had no luck today trying to change my lockring.

I just recently tried this (flashed through twrp as an update.zip). the system said successful, but when I rebooted, my softkeys and wallpaper were completely gone. I have to go back in tonight and see if I can get it to work, but that was my experience on the first try. If anyone has it working id be interested to hear as well

You tried it with Zip Themer? Did you update edify? Let me know if you are still stuck.
It should work just fine. I have installed many different lockrings/glowdots/etc and so far they have all worked. I have worked with matthew0776 (the guy who basically runs the N5 Candyshop thread) and created quite a handful of lockrings. You will have to be unlocked, rooted, and have a custom recovery installed (or I suppose you could use fastboot to flash). If you guys have any questions just post over there (or on this thread) and one of us can help. Feel free to send me a PM if you get really stuck. Just follow the instruction video in the N5 Candyshop OP thread and you should be good to go. Anyone running 4.4+ should be able to flash any of the N5 mods becuase they use the same framework. I have a Moto X Dev Ed and yesterday I was running 4.4 and had a custom lock ring and today I'm running 4.4.2 and I have a different custom lock ring.

I got everything working. Had to update edify and create a new zip on the device. I'm assuming since the old zips I made were from the nexus 5 that's what caused the issue. Thanks for your help

Falsifying? I'm not sure what you mean by that. After you update edify (you only have to do this once unless you get a new ROM) and then the "Build it!" step, you have to go into recovery and flash the "update" zip which Zip Themer created. The update zip is essentially the system UI file from your device, but re-compiled with the images from the mod zip. If you are on 4.4+ any mod from the N5 thread should work.

Flashed.... auto correct. Did all those steps. I've used zipthemer before so I was familiar with the process.

[MOD]*done* Add reboot, recovery, download mode to power off menu

This is a port of untermensch's vibrant mod found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=811532
*completed mod now available with aosp lockscreen included*
*note: these mods include framework-res.apk and need to be included in the base of a theme or rom/flashing over the top of one will overwrite previous theming done to framework-res with stock images and break some pre-existing mods*
Thanx and credit to him for getting me this far, I have made a few changes to his instructions to make it work on epic. The below mod only has the reboot option added. I have yet to try his latest instructions to add reboot recovery but it might work too. Just wanted to get this over to the Epic side for discussion and help if it isn't as easy to port the rest of it.
Add reboot option to power off menu http://www.mediafire.com/?hoetfjbq77hm77s flash in clockwork recovery (its only android policy.jar) and make sure your system is deodexed. We can add more things into it to get android policy jar mods to play together later.
Here's a .zip that has both the AOSP lockscreen mod and reboot button mod together: http://www.mediafire.com/?010dchn522nxge9
Complete mod port plus aosp lockscreen click here
Note: this .zip includes framework-res.apk,framework.jar and android.policy. jar. The recovery function gets you to stock recovery but you can still get into clockwork by flashing the update.zip you should have on your sdcard already. If any one knows how to get it to go straight to clockwork like rom manager does I would like to have it do that.
Complete mod port plus aosp lockscreen-no full battery popups click here
All three in one now, this is just like the one above but also has services.jar
Complete mod port only click here
Includes framework-res.apk,framework.jar and android.policy.jar
Complete mod port with no popups click here
Includes framework-res.apk,framework.jar,services.jar and android.policy. jar
Works Perfect.....Ty

just asking cause yesterday I flashed a normal app! flash 10.1 and my phone was stuck blackscreened lol and had to odin ect AND I am very happy with the phone now so I dont wan't to result to that again
I've been waiting for this to get ported - thank you!
It flashed with no problem, but it replaced my Vanilla lock screen with the TouchWiz one. If I flash the Vanilla lock screen back on, will the reboot option still be there?
Holdin down power+voldown+camera after touching reboot gets you into recovery. I know a software button is better but in the mean time.

The only way for certain is to re-theme this framwork-res with your images. You might try swapping just your drawable-hdpi folder into this one and if there is anything left out track it down and add it back. I am not sure where values folder goes when it re-compiled so you don't want to write over it as it will cause issues.
OP has a new .zip with all three mods in one now, let me know if there are any issues with it.

What xmls did you edit? What I was getting at is use this as a base and re-do the theme to it but if you accidentally over write the values folder it will not work properly. Since I don't know where valuse goes when its been compiled(it only shows when decompiled) you run the risk of breaking the mod. Its certainlgy worth a shot though.

[MOD] Skip music tracks with Volume buttons (JB 4.1.2)

Finally!! After thousands of boot loops I got it working. There are several .diff's for implementing this mod in android.policy.jar, but what I forgot: this works only on a completely deodexed ROM and mine was only half deodexed. It is possible to run deodexed and odexed system apk's side by side, but you must not(!) run a deodexed framework with odexed apk's - this was my learning curve
Summary: If you are on a fully deodexed 4.1.2 JB ROM (I am on 91.2.26001 Retail.en.EU), simply copy the android.policy.jar to /system/framework, set the permissions to rw-r--r-- and reboot.
MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE, just in case!!
If you want to incorporate this into your ROM (Omar?), I attached the needed smali's too.
If you are on an odexed ROM, here is a short help to deodex yourself:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2179009
Enjoy skipping music tracks in your pocket by long pressing volume without turning your screen on!
UPDATE: added CWM package for easy flashing.
Installed it right away! It works awesomely well on my phone I'm using PIlama 0.6.
If you keep on modding the stock rom like this we won't need to port CM. At least I'm not missing it

Too many.
There are some tutorials here at XDA, just search. The thing is, you have to adapt the variables, that's a little bit research though.
Easiest way would be: Extract original android.policy.jar and compare it to my mod, then you'll see the differences.

Is your system deodexed? Then you may try it, but do a Nandroid backup before, so that you can roll back easily.
If it works, tell us, if not, tell us
But deodexed system is mandatory!
Hummm, I saw on Link2SD and the system Apps are all odexed. Then no go for me I think.
You can deodexed your system alone.

[DISCONTINUED] [THEME] HTC One SV Sense 4+ **PurpleParadise**

Updated 17/07/2013
apk is the same but now I've had a go at modifying some system APK as well to change a few things.
Here's a list of what should be themed now
Keyboard
Music App & Widget
Music/Call lock screen widgets
Phonebook Images
System UI (including status bar & stock icons)
And everything else then when you apply the skin on top.
INSTALLATION
BACKUP!!
Flash via recovery, wipe cache and dalvik then reboot
Then install/apply the purpleparadise skin to finish it off
ISSUES
Let me know, your more than welcome to edit and fix what you want as you see fit!
If you find your phone crashing, either reflash your ROM or try the restore file, you'll still need to wipe your cache and dalvik it after though.
Have fun!
Skin - See attached

Just mount the file with the onesv framework in virtuous.
There's tutorials everywhere on how to use it.
I've discontinued this anyway, there are a lot better themers out there, I don't own a One SV either and my mates traded up for a OneX.
If there is anything I'd recommend it's finding a ROM with a deodexed file system so you can use what I've got, It may work but also might break, that's the risk with everything though!

If your referring to V4A instead of a different addon by the Viper Rom community then just d/l either of the OGD Deodexed Roms we have and V4A works perfect and if you have a car with a system hold onto your windows, it sounds pretty sweet! Like wake the neighborhood with a factory Ford Shaker 1000 system have my phone hooked up with a aux cable running V4A with the Super Driver and Advanced Controls tuned. It will get you in trouble if you go by a cop and the town has noise ordinance.

Has been a few years. I quit making roms and themes about two years ago. Well roms first, then the themes. When Samsung came out with the QMG images, that was it. I had enough of jumping thru loops to make a theme for the Note 4. Love the phone, hated the OS for the phone.
So bud, are you do any theming for the Note 5. Maybe you can give me a hand. I am a little confused on what can and can not be done. The reason I was able to do a basic theme was the framework-res and systemui was already converted. I read the previous app used to convert the images to png's doesn't work for this phone. So let me know if you know how to convert the qmg's to png's, or anyone here that can help.

Yeah ... I haven't been too involved myself. Some a few tweaks on the S4. I have been planning to develop some custom boot images (my specialty ... haha). Really just looking at cleaning things up first. I know rlmiller and tdunham are both pretty involved with this device. They might be able to provide some insight.
Anyway ... good to see a familiar face.

No problem I tried yesterday on the settings apk and had no problem with any png's. So the conversion still works for the Note 5. That's what I get for reading one post and taking that as fact. I use VTS for decompiling and reconpiling and had no problems with the framework-res, systemui and the systems apk's. But when I try to recompile a couple of other's. Like the Samsung keyboard even without changes they give a Java error. I have updated both apktooland smali files to the latest. But that didn't help, still get the same error. I applied for Samsung Theme it twice and was declined both times. Something about I didn't provide enough information about the themes I have already done. Not sure what they are looking for. I provided linked images to some 20 themes and roms I have done.... Maybe that's it, they don't people who know how to hack their phone.

In the search field, type picconv. Should be the 1st link. Beware V2.1 converts the 9.qmg to regular .PNG images. If u want to edit .9. images u will need to add the black lines. Hopefully the developer will get this fixed soon.
As far as Samsung goes, I think if u provide proof of themes u have make. And the link is a post on XDA u are blacklisted. Samsung straight out told me in a phone conversation that they do not want us rooting our phones. Yeah, they want to control the themes available and make money doing it.
