Hello
I have been running my Verizon galaxy S3 with cyanogenmod 10.1.3 for a number of months. Everything worked just fine, no issues. A couple of weeks ago, I updated my phone to 10.3 and it worked well. Then a few days ago it would began rebooting by itself about once per day. This morning, I went to grab my phone and it was working; but by the time I got to the car the phone was dead. No lights, won't go into recovery, basically hard bricked but I wasn't installing any type of rom or anything. Is there anyone who can help me figure this out or at least tell me that I am now the proud owner of a paper weight?
Thanks

Does it boot into download mode (hold power, volume down, and home)? Have you let it charge for a couple hours? Possibly it died from bootlooping?
I won't go into download mode, it has been plugged in for over 5 hours. There are no lights on or anything. I am unsure what bootlooping so I am unsure.

Hello All!
Three days ago I updated my GS3 to JB 4.1.1. I also ODIN'd TWRP onto my phone as a recovery and loaded SuperSU with an unlocked bootloader onto my phone along with BusyBox. I fell in love with my phone again as JB ran smoothly and I was even able to use Wallet Installer to get Google Wallet onto my phone. However, tonight, my phone seemed to experience a case of Sudden Death Syndrome. A common issue found by googling why my phone's failure to respond to boot commands and power commands.
It will not respond to attempts to boot into ODIN mode, my TWRP recovery and the only sign of life on my phone is a solid red LCD that lights up only if I remove the battery and leave the device plugged into a wall charger. Once I try to reinsert the battery, however, the LCD goes away and the phone once again turns into a coffee coaster. It's taking a lot of strength not to throw it against the wall. (I picked the worst week to quit smoking.)
I don't believe I hardbricked the device because three hours ago at the time of this post, I went to sleep and the phone was working and I was able to send and receive messages. I believe that rooting my phone actually made it even more stable than normal. I just can't believe my phone could just suddenly die. Could it be another case of Sudden Death Syndrome? (Corrupted NAND?) I bought this phone in August and many cases of SDS for the GSIII seem to occur within 150-200 days of activation, which would put me in that window. If I answered my own questions, please feel free to tell me. I'm just trying to explore all options as an exasperated user dealing with what seems frustration after frustration and the one release I have from that stress just **** a brick.
I am covered by Asurion Insurance (and if the crack on my screen will not be enough I plan on running it over with my car for good measure to get my money's worth) but I really do not want to have to file an insurance claim unless it is absolutely necessary.
Phone died just last night 12/29/12. The battery was running down, then beeped once like a warning to charge it. Plugged into the charger and no light whatsoever! The battery icon would come on for a second and then nothing. Left it on the charger over night. Nothing. No red charging light, no boot. Pulled the battery and re-plugged into charger. Same charging icon on screen but nothing else. Tried every combination of removing battery, sim card, memory card, and plugging it in to the charger and still won't boot. Tried a different charger and also my laptop. Nothing. The S3 is a USA Verizon variant. 16gb. Black. I guess it's off to Verizon this morning to get a new phone. Phone is only 45 days old!!!
You could try leaving it on the charger for a couple hours then booting into recovery and reflashing your rom. I've seen a couple instances reported on xda where the battery simply just gave up below 23% and refused to turn back on.
Edit: example, not even a couple weeks old...

If it is a case of "sds" Samsung will replace the board for free.

Only reports of SDS in the 150-200 day time frame that I saw was with the International Version and it is completely different motherboard.
What do you kids do to your phone? How old are you? I'm going to start a survey. Age please?

Update: Brought the S3 into Verizon. They pulled the battery (Like I did a few times!) and somehow got it working again!! FM ! Phone reboots and turns off and then back on. BUT..... if you turn it completely OFF and plug it in to charge then the same as I mentioned happens again. STRANGE. The only way to get it to reboot is to pull the battery and keep it out for about 30 seconds. Put the battery back in and it'll reboot again!!!! Is it me or is this a strange quirk???? The previous times I pulled the battery it was out then back in. This time I took it out, waited 30 seconds and VOILA! It works. Thought you might like an update. Verizon S3 bought on 11/17/12. Rooted and not oc/uc'd. Using Clean Rom 5.5.1

That's good news..thanks for the correction.
Hey all, this is my first post, so bear with me.
I have my tf700 for allmost a year now. I have unlocked it, rooted it, flashed different roms ( cleanrom, paranoidandroid). last month I decided to unroot it, so i could sell it to a friend
I succesfully unrooted it and it worked perfectly for a week. Then I experienced a low battery shutdown while playing a game, I let the tablet charge fully overnight. and the next day when i tried to turn it on, it just vibrated twice after ten seconds, nothing else.(NOTE: it's the first time it turned off after I unrooted it)
I tried everything, boot into recovery, reset hole.. nothing worked.
At last i tried to connect it to my TV through HDMI... and voila the tablet booted normally on my TV, but the tablet screen was pitchblack.
NOW my question to you, is my screen permanently dead (burned or something???) ? or is there still something i could try (like there is some software fault, because it is the first time the tf700 was rebooted after my Unroot-procedure).
Please help me save my little infinity :'(
I had a friend who had exactly the same problem. He left it for 3 days, came back charged it and it started working again.....
Okay, so, I know I am not the only one with this issue. At the same time I know not ALOT of people have this issue. Lets get right down to it, I bought a Note I717 from someone who claimed that it was stuck in a bootloop. Well, I turned it one when I got home after doing a factory restore and it came on and stayed on. I thought I had fixed it until the battery died.
Symptoms:
Boots up fine
Stays on for around 2 minutes
Freeze then Reboot
Happens every time. I have tried to restore stock firmware, have tried custom roms. Have rooted it, unrooted it. Battery holds a charge and is perfectly fine. Power button is NOT stuck.
There have been 2 times I have got it to come on and stay on for like 12 hrs then it will freeze and cut off, then start the rebooting sequence all over again. Anybody think they can help me out?

whn i had a similar issue, the answer turned out to be that i was overclocking. if you are overclocking/undervolting it can cause random reboots.
My tablet is within the 30 day return window, so I am not freaking out. I have the Verizon version 905. The tablet was rooted. It worked fine for a couple of weeks. Last night I rebooted and the tablet's batter went from 50 to 30 in one reboot. I plugged it in to charge and it was taking longer than usual. It was charging at 1 or 2 percent an hour. It was at 82% when I rebooted then it was at 100%. I rebooted it one more time, and it has not turned back on. If I hold the power button on for 5 seconds, it vibrates but no lights turn on (buttons or screen). Anyone have suggestions?
Kurt
Get into download mode and flash stock. What version were you on when it crapped out?
Sounds like a faulty battery to me.

Finally Turned On
When I got it, it already had a Gmail account on it. It was suppose to be new. Everything looked new...I figured it was just an open box. I am not taking any chance, so I am sending it back. I need to flash stock back on it. The model number is SM-P905V. It is running P905VVRUANE4. (Verizon LTE Model) I purchased it without service. I am getting ready to search the forums. If anyone has a link to the instructions, I would appreciate it.

More Informaion and Question
Please let me give you a little more detail, so I can get your opinion about what happen. I entered the boot loader and accidentally hit the volume up button and the device went into downloading mode. I did not have Odin connected, so I did a hard reset. I was unable to turn the device on for 30 minutes or so. Would this have caused my problem or do you think it was a battery issue? Thanks in advance for your opinion.
Kurt
So you're saying that you can still boot the device and use it but it's not stable and can't hold a charge? If so I agree with shadowlea, it's likely a battery issue.

Hey everyone,
my phone worked perfectly until couple weeks ago the new MIUI 9 patch came out and downloaded it. It was all fine for first but when the phone eventually restarted and tried to load in for 1st time it didnt want to do it. I've waited for an hour and still nothing happened so I decided to reboot it with volume and power buttons, after that it turned on and worked perfectly. Last Saturday I was using my phone when it suddenly froze and had to reboot it, for about a hour it worked and after that it turned off and ever since than I can turn it on at all. I've tried everything reboot, factory reset everything but the screen doesnt respond to anything at all. Only thing what I know is that when I plugged it on my PC, it respond on the connection but still no answer on screen. I'm asking your help since I can't use my phone for a week and noone else has an idead in my friends what could be the problem.
