Back to stock - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I wanna return it to a second hand business I bought it from. I need to remove root and custom recovery and the boot loader unlock warning at the boot then I think I should be okay. Can someone tell me how to do this please.

Okay, I'm here at best buy looking to upgrade my droid razr hd to an lg g2 but they said I need to put my phone bank to stock before they take my phone as a trade in. Can I do that really quick while I'm here at best buy?
Thank you all in advance.

If you have a stock image, you can flash that and use supersu to perm unroot but the bootloader will still be unlocked

They didn't care about the bootloader being unlocked, they just want superuser gone. I don't have a stock image with me, how can I get a hold of one?

what i would have done is go outside for a few minutes and uninstall the su app. there is no way you could have flashed it in the store. @ home you can use this from your pc to flash it back to stock http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2474393 although there is no way to lock the bl back as previously stated.

[Q] Root Flash then Revert Without a PC?

Just wanted to know if its possible to root (towel root) flash custom recovery and custom roms and then if I decide to later revert totally back to stock unrooted nexus without a PC. Ive attempted to read up on this but I'm a little confused that ill need to use SDK and ADB which i can't have access to at the moment or have the skills to use.
I've seen apps on google play to unlock boot loader once towel rooted but I'm just unsure if i can revert totally back to an unrooted nexus 5 with original recovery, without a pc as I'm using an iMac and having really unreliability with it :/
Id greatly appreciate any help :good:

Could I not back up the stock ROM using twrp and then after using custom ROMs flash it back (stock) and flash stock recovery and in root and relock boot loader using super su and boot loader apk?

The nexus devices are the easiest devices to get back to stock because Google supplies the stock images

There are a couple different options.
I'm not sure if flashify requires a unlocked bootloader. Root, flash custom recovery with flashify, make a backup. When you are done either restore backup or if stock already use flashify to flash stock recovery, delete root apps, unroot via supersu.
Boot unlocker I have heard will work to lock and unlock boot loader but I'm not sure about resetting the tamper flag.
Using fastboot and adb is always going to be the surest and safest way to root etc. Unless you are going to be submitting your phone for RMA there should be no reason to unroot. You can always flash a stock rooted ROM and just leave it.

Steps are;
-Download boot unlocker fr on play
-Download flashify from play (just in case)
-Download vomers stock ROM (number 6 in resources section in the link in my signature)
-Download stock recovery (number 7 in resources section in the link in my signature)
Firstly, flash the recovery zip via your current recovery and reboot
Then, reset The tamper flag and lock the boot loader
Finally, open SuperSU and use the full indoor option to remove Root
Good as new.

Ya its not a bad phone at all think I might just buy the new Motorola g off Motorola.com the bootloaders are unlockable on them and there bigger and only 179.99
Is it just something with 4.4.4 or can we go back to like 4.3 or 4.2.2 or whatever it first came with and then unlock the boot loader that way?

[Q] Bootloader Question

Hello, im new in G pro 2, and have been read on XDA for week ago, i have open many thread and read it about installation procedure of some rom, but i dont find it that if the flashing required unlock bootloader first or just need to root the phone, so i decided to ask some question
1.) Do i need unlock bootloader to flash some rom? Like 5.0.x rom?

You can not unlock the bootloader, but you can root with towelroot or Stumproot.
You can Flash this Recovery
This Recovery works, but you can not save a Backup to External SD,only Internal Memory and Restore not working for me.
To flash a custom rom just need to root?
Thank you so much for the answer

If you're running official 4.4.4 firmware (SU4-21/SU5-25/SU6-7) - you must downgrade first to SU3-15 cause that's only available way to get root. Or you can install alternative firmware like CyanogenMod cause you're lucky one and have unlocked bootloader.

With an unlocked boot loader all you have to do is flash twrp recovery then boot into recovery and when you exit it will ask if you want to install SU.
Here is a link to a tool others have used to flash twrp.
