Hi,
I have a 32GB Nexus5 with Android 4.4.2. It was rooted. Last night all of the sudden the phone froze up on me and when I turned it off and back on it had deleted everything in the phone and just booted up as if the phone was new (Hard Reset maybe?). That was weird. But once it booted up for some reason my phone can't find any signal. It just has a blank signal icon on the top right corner. I switched sim cards with a few friends and its not the SIM Card. I added the APN Settings for my carrier (Straight Talk) and still nothing.
It's the first this ever happened. Today I flashed back a stock 4.4.2 image to my Nexus5 and set up the phone again but still can't get any network coverage. It's as if the antenna or something got damaged out of the blue.
I'm also including screenshots of the home screen highlighting the blank signal icon and screenshots of the Phone Status page that highlight that the mobile network is unknown and other information.
If anyone has any idea what this could be, please let me know

Have you gone into the carrier menu and checked the settings are right?]
dial
*#*#4636#*#*
turn the radio off and put your settings the way they should be depending on your service and carrier
select the band option and put it to the country and then save restart radio and reboot.
If this doesnt work then perhaps the files that contain the IME (i forget what they are called) blew out.
When I had my nexus s I kept a backup of them because it was pretty regular for people to accidentally delete them
good luck

So the IMEI number for my Nexus 5 right now is 0. I called Google and they already sent me the RMA Form and will be getting a new Nexus5. However, I'm still curious as to why this may have happened all out of the blue and what steps I can take in the future to limit the chances of this happening again?
Btw... I tried to turn off the radio and continually pressed the button but never got a confirmation that it had turned off.
Best thing to do is backup your efs. And make it available to be flashed

Hi there, just wondering if anyone can help with a small problem I'm having after flashing a new ROM - {ROM}[T][STOCK][JB 4.3][UB&LB][9.2.A.0.295] Official Firmware - Rooted&Deodexed 18/02, by DaRk-L0rD. My problem is that when I first turn on my XperiaT, I usually have no service on my phone - i.e- I cant make calls at all. The phone works fine for everything else, but I have to manually go into Settings-More-Mobile Networks and after a few seconds the phone picks up the signal and the bars appear. If I don't do this it will just sit there for hours not getting anything! I've tried entering the Phone Information menu through *#*#4636#*#*, and setting the preferred method to WCDMA, and I've made sure that in the Mobile Networks settings that is also the preferred method, however it seems that if I reboot the phone, or the battery dies and I switch it on, it randomly forgets these settings and I get nothing. If I try to enter the Settings-About Phone-Status screen when I've no signal then I get force closed, but when I have signal it opens no problem and my IMEI is there and is correct. Also, sometimes the little red missing SIM icon appears alongside the red x on the bars, although this doesn't happen all the time.
It's a small issue because it only happens maybe 80% of the time, and it's not a big deal going into settings and reactivating things, but it's a bit of a hassle at this stage.
Previously I used "[ROM]XperimenT 3.5[T/TL][9.1.A.1.145][Locked & Unlocked][23/09/13]" by TiMiN8R without this issue so I know that the phone/sim are actually ok as it only started immediately after flashing the new ROM.
You can see from my three screenshots that I have no service for two minutes, enter the mobile networks menu, and finally after being in that menu for a few seconds up pop the bars!
If anyone can help me out I would really appreciate it.
Okay so last night I installed CM 10.2.1 on my Samsung galaxy S3 (Verizon SCH-1535)
Everything's running smoothly but for some reason I don't have any service anymore
I'm using a Family Mobile SIM card and APN, still have my IMEI and MEID but in the phone status screen PRL version, MIN and my phone number show up as unknown. Also it says that my mobile network state is disconnected.
Right now I can't send texts and call anyone. However I still do get automated billing texts...
Not sure what to do right now. I still have a CWM backup of the stock ROM. I'm rather new to this custom ROM and bootloader thing so I'm worried that I'll accidentally brick my phone.
Nevermind, i fixed it!
What did you do to fix this? I've had almost the exact same experience over the past couple of days but haven't managed to recover my service.
Background: Flashed back to Alliance 23 (TW 4.3) to see if TW would solve anything and it didn't. I've flashed the ML1 modem and NE1 and still nothing. I even went to a Verizon store to replace my SIM in case the PRL got botched somehow. I can receive texts and send texts sometimes but not consistently, cannot make or receive phone calls.
On Alliance I have the CDMA/LTE/EVDO network mode selected (defaults to global). I was previously trying out CM12.1 and had issues with the modem type sticking to LTE/CDMA (auto prl), after reboots it would switch back to LTE/GSM and the network modes presented were LTE, 3G, and 2G which didn't seem right.
The last time I had a fully functioning radio was with SlimKat Stable. Was having issues sending/receiving MMS and figured it was time to upgrade so went to CM12.1. Since I've tried flashing Alliance and other versions of CM I don't think flashing back to SlimKat will do much but I guess that's next on my list..
I feel like I'm missing something simple. Anyone have ideas?

I may have managed to fix this. Remembering the IMEI issues that happened early on in this phone's life I figured it might have something to do with that.
My IMEI was correct in my phone status, however my phone number and MIN were not correct (phone was 000-000-0023 or something strange) and my MIN was 00. Something definitely broken there.
Steps:
It requires you to have an IMEI backup already. I had done the reboot nvbackup from adb ages ago and decided to give it a shot with a reboot nvrestore.
Phone rebooted but was stuck on the Samsung logo...uh oh.
Had to do a battery pull and reboot to recovery manually.
Restored Alliance 4.3 backup and voila! Full service, phone number and MIN were correct.
Restored my CM12.1 backup image I had been trying out. Right off the bat there was still the same issue of no service.
Dialed the phone info menu (*#*#4636#*#*) and changed preferred network type to CDMA only, ping test succeeded.
Went to Settings | Mobile Networks and things looked more normal which was a great sign. My Preferred network type was actually blank, so I selected LTE (recommended).
Tried a test call to #832 and success!
Rebooted to make sure everything sticks and it does.
That was not a fun experience...still not entirely sure what actually broke but I've got a usable phone again and to top it off it's on CM12.1 which is just awesome so far
Hi! I'm having some mayor problems with my OnePlus One.
For some time I have had problems getting calls and sms when using 4G but it seemed to be a problem with my carrier but 2 weeks ago I dropped my phone and the screen broke so I bought a new screen and replaced it. After that the connection to my carrier dropped randomly and now after trying to fix it in different ways I can't get any connection at all with any carrier !
What I have tried so far:
Factory reset
Reinstalled CM
Put paper under the sim for tighter fit
Turned the radio off and on and restart phone
Change pin code
Replace sim-card
Tried different carriers on my phone (my simcard worked on other phones so it is the OPO that is the problem)
Total restore by fastboot-flashing
Installed OxigenOS 2
Tried all modems from the modem collection on CM and Oxigen.
Retyped the APN by hand
Opened the phone again and checked that all cables are connected well
Tried manualy connect to my carrier under Network Operators
For a short time of maximum 10 seconds I got a 4G connection twice in now 3 days of trying but then it stops working again. It feels like a hardware problem BUT I can see a lot of different carriers under Network Operators but when trying to connect it loads for ever and then says "Can't register to your carrier". I called my carrier and thay said nothing was wrong from their end and when I tried on other phones it worked flawlessly.
I'm really out of ideas now and I don't know where to go from here. I really hope someone of you knows that might be the problem!
Thank you so much!
If imei present you can try mobile phone exchange offer on flip kart like online stores. When this happened to my phone I did it , very easy.
Sometimes opo dont search available network or wont register on any network.
Sulution: go to access point and reset it to default first then go to network and try to search for network n if ur able to search then try ro register manually and if it does not work then go to dialer and dial *#*#4636#*#* then click phone info and select the lte/gsm ato prl mode and then click turn radio off and again tuen it onn then smsc refresh and update ( i dnt remember it correctly) if that dnt help then ur network antena is damaged
As stated I'm using the LG G5 H830 T-Mobile variant. I am getting 4G LTE data connection and everything runs well (Not in any WiFi range) Yet for SMS and calling as well as mobile hotspot I get "No USIM card' error. This happened after wiping the system and formatting data. Rebooted recovery (as per instructions on forum) then installed the stock firmware & Patch with systemless root and xposed. After this I did factor reset when just pulling the sim didn't help. Still nothing. I reflashed just the stock firmware with TWRP and SuperSU and issue is still happening. I've disabled rebooted and enabled the phone radio. SIM is in good condition and tray as well everything is SECURE and should be good to go.
I'm assuming a new SIM might be a solution. But I'm not counting on it and with Labor Day tomorrow for me I wouldn't be able to pick one up for 2 days. So here I am...hoping someone might have a fix. I know I don't have many posts on here. But I am an experienced user....just not with the more basic of problems I guess
Thanks!!
Has anyone else experienced this yet? I'm just curious...I had it fixed for a couple days. I've formatted data and done complete system wipe. Tried it resetting phone with the COMPLETE zip and TOT using LGUP. I'm receiving texts. Not calls. Not able to send either. I've activated new sim, didn't help. LG support just told me to look into warranty. T-Mobile needless to say just wanted. Sim card does show stock tmobile short code contacts but phone number shows as unknown. Hotspot won't work. I've tried setting the phone number to the sim. Nothing.
Anyways. I don't think I messed with anything, even so I've done everything to start the phone from scratch. Going to replace it, just more or less curious at this point and maybe others have had the same issue.
I believe I had the same issue as you and it was driving me crazy. I was constantly wiping data, system, etc but my phone kept giving the message "roaming indicator off" where it should show the name of the carrier. This resulted in me having LTE data and that's it- no 3g, no phone calls, etc. I couldn't even access the mobile network menu.
What ended up causing the issue was the network mode setting under wireless networks. Keep in mind at this point I'm running a patched rom which now gives more options in the network mode menu than the phone came factory with. I have an area at work where I have to switch to 3g, GSM/wcdma preferred network setting, because although I have full LTE signal, my connection goes dead. When switching back from 3g I chose the setting lte/CDMA thinking this would force my phone to stay in lte mode due to another area on an upper floor where the phone will constantly drop lte.
Anyways this resulted in my phone saying roaming indicator unavailable, the inability to make or receive phone calls, and either the mobile networks or network mode menus being grayed out. When stuck in this mode there is no way to put the phone back into the standard "GSM/wcdma/lte" mode. Even a complete reflash won't fix it. I even used lgup, which worked for maybe a day until it force closed the phone app and went back to roaming indicator unavail. I wiped every partition and even reflashed radio firmware. Nothing worked.
What ended up fixing it was using an app called v10 hidden settings which allowed me to access the network mode menu directly and re-choose the lte/wcdma/GSM setting. Incidentally on first access to this menu through the app there are only two network settings available. Once you choose a GSM setting, the rest appear.
I'm not sure if this was your issue but I hoped this helped because this took me about a week to workout.
I got the Sept Software update which installed baseband version G955USQS5CRI4, and now the 4G/LTE icon just shows the no signal icon. Calls work so it is apparently just an icon issue, but is anyone else having this issue?
Apparently it killed the data connection as well now, calls do not work with WiFi and WiFi calling off. This is bad.
Just checked my phone and all is good.
Yeah, not sure what happened but I had to reset all network connections and reboot 3 times for it to work again.
I've tried doing a factory reset about 10 times as well as network specific resets, and I have not had any luck resolving. They also replaced my SIM car4d with no luck. Any one else having this issue had luck resolving in another way?
I responded to another thread about this... having same issue. Here was my reply:
I am having the EXACT same issue. I don't remember when the last update came through, but it was Feb 16th when this started happening to me. I was moving to a new apartment, phone battery down to like 10%, so I turned the phone off and put it away. A few hours later I turned it back on and no cell connection. No bars, just a circle with line through it. Settings > About Phone > Status > SIM card status = shows Network "unknown", Mobile network type "unknown", Service state " Radio off", Mobile network state "Disconnected".
My SIM works in a Nexus 6 and Galaxy Note 4, so I know it isn't the SIM card. I've tried everything I can think of to turn the radio back on, replaced the SIM tray (original is cracked), even got a Freedompop SIM just to test, and yeah, it won't work. The cellular radio isn't turning on for some reason.
I will say, a couple days after it happen, I turned the phone on without SIM tray, and I could see empty bars, like it was trying to work. I turned it off, put my SIM in, and it worked... until my replacement SIM tray came in. Turned it off, replaced SIM tray, and it is off again.. for last 2 days. I just happened to turn it on that day and it was working, turned it off some days later and it stopped again. I don't know why.. no apparent reason. So, last couple days I have been turning it on and off, on and off, hoping it comes back on.
If ANYONE comes up with ANY ideas, please let us know!!!
Yea if anyone comes up with a fix for this that would be great, since that update my phone aswell has trouble deciding allow calls to ring or go straight to voicemail. Also noticed a delay in receiving text messages, unsure. I really dont want to have to replace my phone because of a broken update. :/
