[Q] Will My Nexus 5 Get OTA Updates After Rooting? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello XDA Users,
I want to know that will my Nexus get system updates after rooting and unlocking the bootloader of it or I have to install them manually with recovery.
Thank You

You will have to side load them. This will most likely break root.

[Q] UNrooting htc sensation 4g (tmobile) want to get ota update.

Hi , so i rooted my htc sensation because i got tired of waiting for the ota update but now want to unroot the sensation because i want to receive the ota update when it does come out. But the thing is i like the hq camera mod if i unroot the sensation will i somehow still be able to mod the camera. will i still have s - off after unrooting ? please help me step by step on how to unroot ? i made a back up before i rooted the sensation , will this help at all ? thank you for reading and please help !? you know what they say asking questions is good lol
No you can't if its unrooted you cant install any mods that require root. Having a nandroid backup before the root won't help. The root is buried/locked down deep deep in your system. You have to do it manually. I can't seem to find it because I'm in my phone. But there is a guide. Please search around in YouTube, the xda forums, high on android, and android forums.

Better off unrooting bud. Easier in the long run.
Nothing is simpler than just flashing the files when available with fast boot. Its usually only a couple days til files are out...or even a flashable stock version.
No you dont need to relock bootloader when you update it relocks it but its easy to unlock i did it manually and it only took me 5 minutes

[Completed] [Q] android update in rooted nexus 5

Can i install the OTA updates in my rooted nexus without doing unroot? I have android 5.1 ruining in my phone and yesterday I got the OTA update for 5.1.1..... Plz do help me and please do tell me the process if possible....
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. The ota will not work if you're rooted or have made any system changes. You have to be 100% stock. See this which is dedicated to ota on the nexus 5, http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/info-nexus-5-ota-help-desk-t2523217. [Completed] Does OTA Lock a Unlocked Bootloader?

So just a quick simple question that a lot of you already probably know. I know that running a OTA takes away root, but does it lock the bootloader too?
I tried searching but was unable to find the answer in the scenario of running an OTA with NOT rooted but UNlocked bootloader. I know an OTA does not lock the bootloader on a Nexus device from my own experience with Nexus's. However my question is mainly for Samsung, HTC, LG, and Motorola devices if I plan to root one of them in the future.
