[Q] Honeycomb to Jellybean problems - country registration - Galaxy Tab 7.7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Galaxy 7.7 6810 (originally purchased from Hong Kong) and a few weeks ago, I tried to go from ICS 4.0.3 to Jellybean using OTA. Unfortunately, I had forgotten that I was rooted and the OTA would not install. I then tried using Odin to flash Bodivas 4.1.2 and totally screwed up. Odin would not complete the installation - stuck somewhere in the process and I couldn't figure out how to safely get out. Soft brick! I finally (several days later) managed to get back to stock 3.2 using Odin 3 version 1.85. I ended up with build "HTJ85B P6810XXLB4, which seems to work just fine, but now I would like to get back up to JB. I was hoping that I could do OTA, as I'm not rooted right now, but I can't get past the registration page from Samsung. It asks for my country and by now I've tried many of the countries on the list and always get the message "Registration failed." The problem must be due to my build version.
Any suggestions for what I need to do in order to get Samsung to recognize my 6810 so that I can get the OTA update? I'm reluctant to try Odin again because of what happened last time, although I guess I can root and then try Mobile Odin this time around.
Sorry this is so long.

[Q] KIES update not working

Hey guys, I'm trying to do the maintenence update for the phone on the stock rom, no root, and it is showing the android guy and says downloading, and there is a blue progress bar, but its stuck at 32% according to kies mini. its been like this for over an hour and no one from samsung or tmobile has been able to help me. any ideas on what to do?
Why did you use kies?
just got the phone a week ago through warrenty exchange, wanted to do the update to kd1 from kb5, which was currently on my phone
I'd Odin or Heimdall it.
kies mini
I used Kies Mini a few weeks ago b/c i hadn't done root or any mods yet too....but it went flawlessly the first time thru. It only took maybe 10 minutes?
Anyone know what would happen if he "just pulled the battery/plug"?
Wouldn't the stock recovery will let him go back to stock without odin?
Yea like the other guy said i'd odin it with the .tar file, then use kies to do the firmware update.

4.1.2 update for N8010 doesn't update

I own a Galaxy Note 10.1 WiFi N8010, was bought in Germany quite some time ago (so CSC is German),
It came with 4.0.3, which was later updated to 4.0.4 and then to 4.1.1. Currently it is running Jellybean 4.1.1.
I had found the Exynos exploit and used it to root my device. The 4.1.2 update came out so I unrooted my device.
The "Device Status" shows "OFFICIAL".
The device received an OTA package, started installing it, started the count to 100%, and at 28-29 percent, the update stopped, the device rebooted, reported a failure and sent me to KIES.
I have some problems with KIES so I am looking for other solutions.
I thought maybe I'd use Mobile Odin to flash the stock firmware but I found it needed a flashkernel which I do not know how nor want to install right now. I was thinking about using ODIN to flash the firmware, but the size of the firmware scared me. I am used to flash 300MB SBF files on my Motorola Defy but this 1GB firmware is insane! I am afraid my computer will suddenly shut down and I will get a hard brick. Anyway, assuming I got over this fear, I have a couple of questions:
1. Does flashing with ODIN delete the user data?
2. Assuming I want to delete my data (like factory reset) - what options should I choose in ODIN when I flash?
3. Are there any options not including ODIN, KIES or the computer in general?

[Q] Galaxy note 10.1 n8010 I think WiFi only model soft bricked help?

Hi all I rooted my tablet and installed android revolution HD 11.1 and was running for months no problem. I heard of the kitkat4.4 leak and thought as my note 3 is running it iwould Truro go back to official release firmware. Halfway through the installation something happened. Either a error in the process or my son knocked the wire loose and it disconnected.I'm now stuck on the odin downloading screen. Everytime I firm the unit of it goes back on the odin download page. Can't access any other screen. Everyone I connect to odin it registers it and tried to write but always fails. I've tried 3 different software versions from sammobile. None successful. I don't know what to do now I've spent days trawling the net with no answer. My wife asked the tech guys work where they mainly use macs. His answer was bin it Samsung won't help and there's no support for android. Should have bought a ipad he said. I've tried odin v 1. 85 and v7 and v9 no luck. The message on the downloading screen reads
Odin mode
Product name gt_n8000
Current binary Samsung official
System status custom
Rp swrev: a2
Hope somebody can help me. Much appreciated
fixed my tablet
Hi to anyone who's read this thread with the same problem. I stumbled across a pit file on here can't remember where but it was for a gt-n8013 I think. I flashed that over with odin which worked. That then came up with a different message something to do with kies and downloading software error.so I re flashed one of the firmwares I downloaded the German leaked version and it worked. So now I'm running kit kat.

Unable to Install 5.1.1 OTA Update for Verizon SM-P905V

I was able to install the first of the two updates earlier for the 5.1.1 update on my Verizon Galaxy Note Pro 12.2. The second downloads, prompts for install, reboots and begins installing but errors out and reboots back into the OS home screen. The Verizon software update manager shows Failed software update error code 402. I have factory reset my tablet a couple of times and still same issue. I do not have my tablet rooted and no apps disabled.
I downloaded the latest available Samsung firmware md5 file, version VZW-P905VVRUANK1-20141205133604 and tried flashing using Odin 3.07 while in download mode. It starts and after a few seconds, Odin fails and on the tablet screen, I get the error, SW REV CHECK FAIL : [aboot]Fused 2 > Binary 1. I have re-downloaded the firmware along with older versions and still same issue.
I was reading somewhere that my tablet could be "soft bricked" and that is why it will not install the second part of the OTA. As for the Odin/download mode error, I had read that the firmware version I am trying to flash in Odin has an older version of bootloader than my current and Samsung does not let you downgrade the bootloader. I may be wrong on both accounts, which is why I am seeing if anyone else has had this same issue or have any advice on what I can try.
Thanks in advance!
Same here. I unforze all the apps unintstalled SU and factory reset still no dice. VZW repair assistant wont work or smart switch. RA says device firmware not supported and smart switch says im up to date. The first part of the update installed no problem.

I had the exact same issues. Here's what I did with my 4.4.2 Rooted NP. I wiped it completely from within the device, then connected it and to the VZW software and let it do a "Repair". After that, my tablet also said that it was up to date, still on 4.4.2. I let it sit overnight and tried downloading the software update the next morning from the tablet, and it took both of them. My NP is rocking 5.1.1. now, much faster. No root but that's alright for now. By running the repair assistant from VZW, it also got rid of the Unlocked Symbol, which may have prevented the upgrade in the first place.

I was able to get mine to update using ODIN and the firmware file from sammoble. Factory reset on the tablet, factory reset in recovery and finally ODIN worked.
I was having the same problems as the OP listed. Once I decided to live without root and I would be okay with wiping the tablet, I performed exactly what dansto82 said he did and I'm now on 5.1.1.
Now hoping someone comes up with a way to root.
Hey, I have the p905v and it is running 4.4.4, I rooted it with towelroot and it was completely fine. I then tried putting twrp recovery on it the wrong way through flashify and now I don't have a recovery mode and can't update it to 5.1.1. Other than that the tablet runs perfectly fine. Is there a way I can fix it?

Downgrading Note Pro 12.2 Verizon from 5.1.1 to 4.4.2?

HI,
I've updated the Verizon version of the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 and I really don't like it. There's too many instability issues that I haven't seen before! I rely heavily on the S-Note and it keeps crashing on me after a few minutes when it is opened up. I can write for a bit but then it just stops working and brings me back to the home screen. The other problem is the SD Card. I never had an issue with it before, but I am now! Sometimes it goes missing when I go into a file manager looking for a document. And it occasionally freezes up!
Oh, and the best part? I like the fact that Samsung has added the "Galaxy Apps" in this Lollipop version like it is on my Galaxy Note 4 (SM-N910F), BUT IT'S ALL IN DUTCH LANGUAGE!!!
And this is suppose to be an American model with the preference language set US English?? Go figure...
I never had this problem before with KitKat 4.4.2, and I want it back!
Now I've tried using ODIN 3.10.7, 3.07, and 3.09, but I can't get it to connect. It keeps saying "added!! removed!!" when I try to use Home-Volume Down-Power" to reboot in Odin mode.
So does anyone have any suggestions on how I can downgrade?
Did you use the OTA 5.1.1 version that was pushed out by Verizon? I took it last week and this beast is way more stable, no crashes, the SD Card works properly (I have a 128GB card) and no language problems. Try resetting your tablet and getting the OTA (again).

No, I didn't get it by OTA. I did it through KIES. I'm an American ex-pat living in the UK for the past few years and I had this shipped to me from family back in Florida. It doesn't seem that the OTA would work at all and the only way I could get the update is through KIES.
As for resetting, that's what I was trying to do. When I do a "factory" reset, it puts 5.1.1. back on again plus the Verizon repair app is not giving me any joy since it's doing the same and placing lollipop 5.1.1, which is why I'm going through ODIN mode to place the original ROM back onto it that I've downloaded from SamMobile's website. However, as I mentioned, Odin on all versions are giving me "ADDED!! REMOVED!!".
What I really find so strange is that the Verizon Update/Repair app will re-flash with no problem; but when trying to use Odin, it won't connect. Can someone give me a clue on what's going on with that??
It would also mentioned I'm using Odin on Windows 7 64 bit and I've used separate computers so that the drivers for KIES and Verizon Update App doesn't clash, yet I'm still getting the same messages from Odin.
OR am I missing something else??
By the way, Sammy's Galaxy Apps is still in Dutch!!

Did you ever get this figured out? I, myself, am having a terrible time with the lollipop upgrade on my 905V. I've tried to ODIN back to 4.2.2 with no luck. ODIN fails every time I try to push one of the older versions to the tablet.
I am like you where I had to use ODIN to upgrade to 5.1.1. I was rooted and I had done a few other things which required me to factory reset a couple times after using ODIN to install an original factory package.
It is possible we are S.O.L. There is simply no DEV support for a device few people have, I don't expect much.
My only shot to try next is to see if putting one of the older versions in a specific folder will give me an option in Kies to revert back.
There is always a chance someone will come along with the answer we need.
Lollipop haywire
I to have the Verizon Note Pro and recently did the update to lollipop and is having a horrible experience... The system seems to be unstable all my apps are crashing a lot... Ive tried to revert back to 4.2.2 using Odin as well but no luck. Ive factory reset numerous times... Ive even reinstalled lollipop several times, with no luck. If any one has any insight on what this problem is or have anyway of going about fixing the crashing, please let me know...
Has this ever been figured out? When I first got my NP 12.2 on verizon I rooted it, but then I OTA updated it, like a dummy, to 5.1.1. I want to flash back down to 4.4 or whatever version it WAS so I can root 4.4 then update to a 5.1.1 or 6.0.1 rooted rom. * Any help would be appreciated.
In the same boat
Any help on this? I would really like to downgrade my NP12.2 to Kitkat to root it.
I pretty much a novice to Android, but have 20+ years with PC and MAC. This doesn't seem like it should be that big of a deal. Thanks for any help!
