Ive been all up and down my hidden menus and im wondering are there any settings that one can modify to enhance my phone at all? Like GMS/UMTS Settings for example there are NO, so indicating an option can be selected like
RRC Version
HSDPA Category
HSUPA Catagory
Fake Security
That's just to start with. But I'm asking about ALL the settings.

Could you send me link to program Toggle Switch - 3G<->GPRS? I need it for quicklink in Sense HD2.
Thanks
Moved as not software release.

I need this too!
"2G-3G OnOff" widget by CurveFish gets the job done for me (milestone)
It's just a shortcut to the 'disable 3g networks' screen, though, but I find it sufficient.
Basically, you can choose between "Auto" and "2G only" from this screen (you can't force 3G only).
To force 3G only I had to go to this hidden menu in the milestone which I forget...
Thanks, but thats for Andriod, Im using WinMO
After doing a search here on xda for
today+screen+toggle+switch+3g+gprs
today plugin to switch between WCDMA and gsm
How about that?
Hi guys,
I have a new Atrix 2 unlocked and using it with a non-US operator.
I am constantly getting notification "Background data disabled" in the status bar. When I go to Settings->Battery&Data manager->Data delivery the "Background data" option is greyed out.
If I open Android Market, I get a pop-up telling me I need to enable background data and this takes me to what looks like original Android data settings menu (not Motorola customized) where I can enable the background data (this change is reflected also in still greyed out Data Delivery option in Motorola Battery&Data manager) and now Market runs fine.
However, I still have the Background data disabled notification in the popup.
Does anyone know how to get rid of the notification and how to make it possible to change this settings in Motorola customized settings?
The phone is also rooted (to get rid of AT&T logo in status bar).
And one more - does anyone know how to enable Edge (2G) vs 3G data selection? It's not available in Settings anywhere.
Thanks.
For switching between 2g/3g take a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1456609
Not so sure though as to why the background data option is grayed out.
Thanks, 2G/3G resolved now.
When I navigate to Settings > Wireless & networks / More > Mobile network settings > Carrier settings >Update PRL & Update profile both buttons appear but tapping on either does nothing? They do turn grey for the fraction of a second when pressed.
Am I missing something? Please tell me I am..
Is there an alternate way to update both profile & PRL maybe with a dialer code?
I remember when I had my gnex on 4.3 there was a sprintdiagnostics apk floating around... Is there anything like that for the N5?
Back to searching...
TIA
Hey everyone,
In addition to notification problems I have been experiencing, I have 2 camera setting options that are currently greyed out that I cannot seem to activate no matter what I try.
1. Camera settings ---> Useful features ---> Tracking auto focus
2. Advanced recording options ---> HDR10+ video (has a red box with the word 'Labs' in it. I have no idea what that means
Any ideas on these?
Hi -
How do I set a custom notification tone on an application (specifically, Google Messages)? I haven't found a way to do that yet, and I have pressed just about every button on the screen.
How do I permanently disable 5G connectivity? The battery draining impacts far outweigh the very minimal benefits of 5G, so I don't think we will ever want to use 5G.
Thanks!
For custom notification sounds you have to put them inside a certain folder, in the "My Files" app search for notifications and copy them into that folder. After that, you have to trawl though the app settings menu, usually I long press the app and select the "i" at the top right - using the Discord app as an example - from there go to Notifications > Notification Categories > Direct Messages (as an example) > Sound and select the one you want.
Uploaded 2 screenshots to show it in action.
Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks > Network Mode, set to 4G

Click to collapse
Thanks, @Sonic Steven!
That helped. I was able to set the Google Messages "Incoming Message" Notification Category to my custom sound. (BTW ... If there is another "Incoming Message" Notification Category for another application, will it also play my custom sound? Or, is this setting specific to each application?)
For disabling the 5G network, not as much luck. There wasn't any 4G or 5G settings visible in my AT&T Mobile Network settings. I may try removing my SIM card to see if something shows up.
I believe it is per app basis
If there's no option under the connection settings then I assume you would need to use something like the Samsung Band Selection app
Actually, I just found a better route than the Samsung Band Selection App:
This method exposes the hidden preferred Mobile Data Selector that's already in the phone.
Since we already were using Nova Launcher, this solution was a no-brainer (well, after someone else's brain had figured it out).
No additional software required for us.
