[Q] Background data permanently disabled - Motorola Atrix 2

Hi guys,
I have a new Atrix 2 unlocked and using it with a non-US operator.
I am constantly getting notification "Background data disabled" in the status bar. When I go to Settings->Battery&Data manager->Data delivery the "Background data" option is greyed out.
If I open Android Market, I get a pop-up telling me I need to enable background data and this takes me to what looks like original Android data settings menu (not Motorola customized) where I can enable the background data (this change is reflected also in still greyed out Data Delivery option in Motorola Battery&Data manager) and now Market runs fine.
However, I still have the Background data disabled notification in the popup.
Does anyone know how to get rid of the notification and how to make it possible to change this settings in Motorola customized settings?
The phone is also rooted (to get rid of AT&T logo in status bar).
And one more - does anyone know how to enable Edge (2G) vs 3G data selection? It's not available in Settings anywhere.
Thanks.

For switching between 2g/3g take a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1456609
Not so sure though as to why the background data option is grayed out.

Thanks, 2G/3G resolved now.

Removing Orange customisation from Huawei U8320 (Barcelona)

I've just bought an Orange Barcelona handset (also called Huawei U8320 or Huawei Boulder). I've rooted the device and used Titanium Backup to freeze all the Orange bloatware applications. However, there's a permanent notification in the notification bar.
The notification says "Data service is enabled" and it is referring to the mobile network's data service. Even when I'm connected to WiFi, it still shows. If I disable the mobile data network, then it changes to "Data service is disabled".
This is extremely annoying as it takes up a large amount of screen real estate when the notification bar is pulled down and permanently displays an icon in the notification bar on the top left of the screen.
Does anyone know how I can make this go away? Is there an Orange service I can freeze?
TIA

[Q] LG Motion 4G Hidden Menu

Ive been all up and down my hidden menus and im wondering are there any settings that one can modify to enhance my phone at all? Like GMS/UMTS Settings for example there are NO, so indicating an option can be selected like
RRC Version
HSDPA Category
HSUPA Catagory

That's just to start with. But I'm asking about ALL the settings.

[Q] Best App for Data Switch or add shortcut on dropdown

Ok still playing around with this
Flashed Uber ROM with CM12 and just loading up the apps again
On Pre paid and I switch off the data now and again. There is no option to do this on the dropdown menu from status screen. Can it be added somehow?
Whats the best app for the one plus to switch the data on and off again few on play but some don't work
Thanks
Can anyone assist with this tried everything and not sure if its the ROM or the phone?
Under settings - notification drawer -Select and order tiles
I have five tiles selected. Wifi, Bluetooth, Data connection, Airplane mode and Location. However when I pull down the dropdown menu it has all of them but when no option to turn on data via this?
I have a data toggle app but when messaging to send online easier to turn data on via the status dropdown.
Anyone?
Thanks
If the data toggle in the quick settings isn't working, long press it and you should see a little switch in the top right of the next screen, you can turn it off there.

Wifi calling notification.

I got my S8+ this morning and have blown most of the day loading stuff etc. I appreciate having WiFi (TMo)calling but is really necessary to be reminded it is active in the pull down screen? An icon on the notification bar is ok. The rest is a waste of space. Any way to turn it off? I've tried blocking notifications.
Very annoying, haven't found a way to turn that off. I just disabled wifi calling
Do the ATT phones have this also?
sprint doesn't thankfully
I think this is a bug. Normally when you keep wifi calling on as the primary it leaves a notification to remind you you're not on the voice network. But if you choose network preferred it should only pop up when network is not available and you're on wifi.
I set mine to network preferred and for some reason even though I have 4G it pops up with the wifi calling notification. The problem is im not even sure why its doing it. Does this mean the S8+ sux and doesnt have network where my S7E did. or is it just a bug......
Also very annoyed by this. I like WiFi calling as i have faster WiFi than cell service in my house, but i hate having to see the notification telling me it is enabled all the time (even if the feature isn't being used). I just turned it off.

Its not working with Tmobile wifi calling icon..
Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
Have been wondering about this also. Using a T-Mobile S8+ and haven't found a way to turn off the always-on-notification for the wifi-calling. I just leave it disabled most of the time unless I know I'll need to make a call over wifi, then I turn it on for stability.
I think I figured it out
Go to the drop down settings menu and click on the settings button. Tap on "Notifications", and then tap "Advanced" up at the top right of the screen, then tap on the 3 dots at top right again and choose "Show system apps". Scroll all the way down until you see the "Wi-Fi Calling" icon and tap on it and then toggle off the "App icon badges" switch. Then you'll need to click on the "Make sound" option below that toggle, go down to the "Advanced" section and tap "On lock screen" and tap "Do not show notifications". Seems like a hell of a lot of work just turn off an annoying notification icon I'll never use...

Signal icons missing

The wifi and cellular signal meter icons are missing on my primary user profile. They are shown when logged in as a different user. Is this normal?

This isn't normal, you could try deleting and recreating your profile since it seems to work as a different user or doing a factory reset if you're paranoid about what may have caused the issue in the first place.
Google chat support also suggested a factory reset after safe mode and resetting network settings, so it looks like that's the plan. Just added a user to my 5x and the wifi icons are shown in both profiles.

Those things can be turned on or off in the system ui tuner in settings. You don't see it in settings by default though so unless you've already enabled it you'll have to do that first. Pull down the notification bar so you can see your quick toggles and then press and hold the settings icon at the top right until you see a message about system tuner being enabled. Then go in settings and you'll find it near the bottom. See if they are disabled in there. If not, try toggling them on. If they are already on try toggling them off and then on again and see if that works. If not, maybe try toggling them off, reboot and toggle them back on.

Thanks robocuff!
I had system ui tuner enabled for a while now. Disabled and the icons reappeared. Re-enabled and they are still there, no reboot required. For good measure, I removed the wifi and cellular data tiles, an still have the icons.
It's unfortunate that google support suggests a factory reset when there is a much quicker and less intrusive method to correct this issue.
