Does anyone know if I purchased one of these can the Transformer then read memory cards or use other USB peripherals?
no one has tried yet, try it for us and find out!
I would if I had the tablet. If it does it would be a major plus.
Well we know for a fact that the 40 pin connector that is used to hook up the tablet to PC and charger through USB allows for USB host, we just don't know if it would be so simple that all we have to do is use a female to female converter.
I would think that it would work, because that's how you transfer files to the tablet. Not sure about peripherals though. If this does work it would easily make this better then any tablet.
if I can get myself to put down the money and if someone posts a link I'll try it.

I meant usb female to USB female since I don't have anything with microUSB just wanna test host.
Just bought http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BSN4UY female to female adapter, I'll test USB host I guess
The tablet only has a micro, so I guess I don't understand why you would buy that item.

The tablet doesn't have a micro port, it has a proprietary 40 pin to USB male cable with a proprietary 40 pin socket. So you need atleast reg female to reg female to get host at the minimum.
Never mind just figured it out. You are going to use the micro usb cable that can with the tablet and hook up the female to female. Sorry.
I thought the tablet did have a micro usb host?
only ports are the proprietary connector used for hooking it up to the PC/charger/dock and mini HDMI out. But the proprietary connector supports USB host.
Just got a Mophie juice pack for my iphone. I want to connect the male 30 pin plug from my ClearScan Live radio interface to my iphone ( which now has a usb female jack into the mophie. I searched the interweb for converters that take a 30 pin male plug and output to a microusb male plug. I can find the exact opposite of what I need. Has anyone run across such an adapted?

I think the simplest solution to give you would be to get the Camera Adapter, which provides a USB female-A jack, and then a standard A-to-microB cable. I'm not completely sure what kind of data would be permitted across that by the OS, but it's something to look into.

Hey guys I was looking at MHL adapters for my Note 10.1 and they're insanely expensive. Would it be possible to get a 30 pin to Micro USB and then get a Micro USB to MHL? Thanks.
Hello there, I've been looking for quite a while for a 5 pin male to 11 pin female adapter. I've got an old MHL adapter for Galaxy Tab S which uses the 11 pin plug. I was hoping to use it for my Z4 tablet but it's not compatible. I've google around and saw that these 5-11 adapters are 11 pin male to 5 pin male. I saw something from Newegg but I want it the other way around. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812270611
Sony Xperia Z4 tablet does NOT use 5 pin mhl , so adapter 11 ->5 pin will not solve your problem.
Not every 11 pin mhl is compatible with Z4 and probably that is reason why your adapter didn't worked. There is more versions of MHL standards. For more information about compatible cables please read this post
