Need to disable power button - General Questions and Answers

Hi. I have need to completely disable my power button besides physically breaking it. Not remap it or anything, just stop it from working. I will worry about turning it on later.
So how do i disable it? Is there an app or can i edit the build prop? I am rooted, thank you.

Can't be done, for fairly obvious reasons.

What is the point of repeating EXACTLY what I had posted, 2 weeks later?

Why does this need to be done???

You may try buttonremapper and disable the button completely by setting empty value.

If you download the app "root tools" from the market you can turn it off. Its not an option on the main screen, though. once in the app, hit the menu button on your phone, go to settings, and its at the bottom of the options list.
you can toggle it on and off!
::thanks?did this help?::
Ya I'm rooted,
I tried what you said but it won't let me rename / delete,

You need to remount the /system partition as read/write in order to rename or delete the sound file.

Disable softkey backlighting?

Is it possible to disable the backlight for the soft keys?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
I'm pretty sure there isn't a way but don't quote me on that. My logic is because it seems the backlit keys use the screen light to actually become backlit they aren't like a separate area really.
I think they are on a separate sensor. In CM7 they would be off a lot of the time.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
Yes they can be disabled.

You can try the LEDS hack (root) from the market.. I know it works on the inc, haven't tried it on the thunderbolt though I know it's not listed as "supported".. worth a shot
Could you point me in the direction I need to go?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
Leds hack is a no go. Thanks though.

There are two LEDs at the bottom of the phone that light the keys. I accidentally covered them up when replacing my LCD so I have no backlight for the keys now and...I kinda like it! They aren't bleeding into the screen now too.

They can be disabled in the kernel.
You can disable them.by editing the framework also =)
App called "screen filter" has the option for it. Only lasts as long as its open though(runs in background, open in notifications). But it does work.

Ughh I've been trying to get this working for a week and no luck. Anyone have a good solid solution to disable the backlight?

Thanks Now when my phone is using void lock it looks like it is dead if someone tries to mess around on it.
What about an app that shuts it off permanently? When I put it to sleep and wake it back up... poof, lights are back on.

Anyone good at setting up Tasker?

Man this is one of the hardest things to figure out for me. I just want it to do simple things, Like screen off no data. Certain tomes turn on Bluetooth, certain times vibrate. Anyone good at this? I have wasted some money on this so far. Need to redeem myself!

I posted a tasker profile and tasks that do that, look for a post by me in one of the battery related threads. If you can't find it pm me.

Adding here, updated version should be attached. You should be able to unzip, then import the profile, tasks and scene.
I tried importing from both zips that you provided and the profiles won't load, some error loading. The scene and tasks FC's. I know this is a pain in the seat cushion, but can step by step it for me?

I've actually completely redone it, including moving it into a project. Let me make sure that the export/import works, then I'll post it up.

Try this attachment, you will have to download and unzip it on your phone somewhere, then in Tasker, delete any of the stuff you imported from my previously posted tasks, then under Profiles, there is a faint triangle at the upper middle of the screen, press and hold near there, then drag down, it should highlight, then you will get a new row at the top of the window with a 'house' icon. Long press on that then select 'Import'. This is actually a rudimentary flie system browser, but it's not obviously such. The triangle in the lower right means to go up a directory, use that to navigate and find the 'DataManagement.prj.xml' you unzipped, and import it. That should be all you need to do.
Thank you sir. You are a scholar and a gentleman!

Have you tried Atooma beta? Similar to Tasker but very easy to setup. Find it in the Play Store.
I use it to turn off wifi/turn on data/launch navigation and Pandora when I plug in head phones. Also set it to read SMS to me when I am driving and send auto reply telling the sender I am driving.

Location problems

My phone after many ROMS has lost the ability to locate itself. I'm not talking about gps either. It simply can't use any network to locate itself. Anyone encounter this or know what to do?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Explain what locating itself means and some of the steps you have already taken and did/didn't work. Elaborate a little bit more so I can understand the issue

I can confirm that every time I flash a new Rom it takes a long time (2-5min) to locate itself for the first time.I haven't paid to much attention to see if it's getting worst.

I have just learned to assume people are. Especially people who are the only ones reporting a problem.
Your phone will use triangulation(cell), gps and wifi for location. It is really hard for me to believe that all three of those have failed. So either your missing the glaringly obvious or you are the unluckiest person ever to own the Rocket.
OMG I've been through this nightmare and here is what I did:
Yes you know and you already did it but make sure and here is why:
There is a Green button in apps menu (Google Settings) that overrides all the maps locations, ads, searches and other junk. Go in there and toggle location settings on/off.
There is a Blue button in apps (Google Now) and have that on too for now until you get it working but the Green (Google settings) supersedes all and blue doesn't have to necessarily be on.
Good luck champ!
