Hi - I was wondering if other people are experiencing this issue? This happens with headphone when any audio type is played. It is easy to recreate with GUI sounds by just opening the notification draw. It feels like the jack come out of sleep, plays the sounds, then goes back to sleep, and you only hear noise when it is awake.
I only started getting this last week when I tried to flash the official P6800 JB rom onto my P6810. I tried then using a custom rom (skyhigh) and then also reverted back to the original ICS P6810 rom but the issue persists.
Can recommend a ROM that might solve this issue for me?
Thanks in advance!
Very strange - I just tried a bluetooth receiver with earbuds and I can hear the weird background noise/interference when using that as well!
I have this issue as well. It was worse on beanstalk ROM. Its less noticable in sky high v3.5.

So far I've tried both TnT Lite and the VEGAn roms and by far I prefer the VEGAn rom. My only issue is every once in a while, usually when something uses audio (movie, music or even a typing sound) I get a static/hissing/sounds like your TV is on a channel that doesn't have anything on it sound.it goes away after a couple seconds, but it's at full volume, doesn't matter of the audio is turned all the way down and will do it again if I do anything. I've tried the add and remove headphones, but it doesn't work. I've wiped and reinstalled the ROM, but it always comes back. The hissing/static sound happens on either the headphones or the speakers. Audio will work again when I reboot the unit but only for a little while. Any solutions?
There's another thread about a similar issue. 5 or 6 people responded that they get a crackle or pop every now and again. I get it also. One guy had it with the stock ROM. Another guy gets it through headphones when jogging.
No solution posted that I can find.
Thanks for the info. I guess it's either a hardware issue or an incompatibility between android and the driver.
I'm getting constant speaker hiss through the headphone jack, even when nothing is playing and when the display is off. Only exception is if the tablet is fully powered off. I'm flashed to VEGAn right now, but was getting the same hiss with TnT Lite. Didn't leave the stock ROM on long enough to know if it's happening there, too.
I get the same problem with some low volume hiss via headphone jack. Only happens when devices is in "sleep" -- not when powered off...
Sounds like this ROM (Vegan 5.1) leaves the the jack powered when in sleep...
My phone had the same problem until the ROM it was based on got fixed (it's running a CyanogenMod derivative)
It may be fixed in the CM7 builds -- so given that the next Vegan will incorporate some CM code as well, I'm hoping it will be fixed soon...
It has to be draining the battery if it is true that the jack is powered when in sleep...
I'm having some issues with the Galaxy S3 headphone jack.
I was running stable CM 10.1.2 and everything seemed to run perfectly.
I used to use my headphones regularly but stopped for about 2-3 weeks, then I tried using my headphones at the gym and that's when I noticed the problem.
I can play music just fine in the car using the aux cable, but when I use headphones, the sound is very distorted.
I've tried three different pairs of headphones. All of them work perfectly fine with my other devices, so the issue is definitely not the headphones.
I have checked the DSP Manager settings, and don't have any EQ's or anything set up.
I updated my modem to MF1 and put CM 10.1.3 RC2, but that didn't solve the problem.
I'm having trouble figuring out whether this is a software or a hardware issue.
Anybody have an idea of what could be the problem here and how I can fix it?

The latest versions of android (i.e. jelly bean) are experiencing a lot of weird stuff with the audio. I know I've had serious problems with bluetooth audio being distorted and have yet to find a fix. Some people have said the latest CM 10.1 nighties have a fix. My suggestion would be to check that out.
I'm having bad sound quality when making call through Bluetooth in my car. It sounds like the audio is breaking up. Anybody else have this problem? My note 3 was working just fine through bluetooth

I also noticed the same thing yesterday driving home. I did not have this problem earlier in the week. I'm not sure what is going on. This along with a strange wifi problem has recently surfaced. If I leave my wifi range and then return, it does not want to reconnect. I have to toggle the airplane mode then wifi will reconnect. I am running stock 11s rooted with 2.7.1.0 TWRP, Xposed framework, Xpoxed GEL, Gravity Box, Tasker, Autovoice.

Are you still experiencing poor Bluetooth audio in your vehicle? Mine is still the same.

I am. I'm looking for suggestions for things to try and improve the stuttering/skipping/dropouts that I'm experiencing when using my OnePlus One in media playback mode through my Chevrolet MyLink car radio. I have some additional details to offer and things I have tried:
1) The playback application doesn't seem to make any difference, the problem is most pronounced (unlistenable) when playing back music files and is highly annoying when listening to speech (e.g. podcast) files. I suspect the difference is the music having a beat that gets interrupted while there are some normal pauses in speech so the stuttering blends in a bit more. In any event, it's not a problem with the playback application.
2) It seems unlikely to be a problem with the car radio (Chevrolet MyLink). Though I haven't done extensive testing I have done some using my old Motorola Atrix HD with a nightly CM11 on it from a few weeks back and that does not seem to have the issue, or at least it is not nearly as severe.
3) When I use a third party bluetooth audio receiver (some cheap no-name one from ebay) the quality seems to be fine but when I try to go directly to the car stereo I get tons of stuttering/skipping/drop outs.
A friend suggested that I try running an alternative kernel and see if that improves things. Any ideas on whether that may be the case or which one might be the best to try? Any other suggestions? It's quite annoying that I can't playback audio through the car radio...
Thanks!
Anyone have any ideas? I tried running the Franco kernel tonight and it seems to have the same issue. I did some logcat captures and I seem to be getting a lot of "W/bt-btif ( 2104): btif_media_aa_prep_2_send congestion buf count 24" messages when playing back audio through the car radio. See the attached full logcat captures with both the stock and Franco kernels and connected to both an alternative Bluetooth dongle and to the MyLink car radio.
Any suggestions?
After further testing I was able to determine this is an issue with the phone and not the car radio as I was able to find at least one other BT device which exhibits the same issue. I have created a ticket for this issue at: https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse/BACON-1005 if you are also experiencing this issue you are encouraged to go and vote for the ticket.
One question though. Do you have WiFi on when traveling in your car? Try turning it off and see if you still get skipping.
I do in fact have WiFi on at all times. I tried turning it off for the day today while doing some driving and it appeared to clear up the problem. I would think it's still a bug because having WiFi on should not prevent BT audio from working correctly but it at least gives someone a direction to investigate.
So I've done some slightly longer term testing and what I can say is the problem is not totally cleared up when WiFi is off but it is much, much better (definitely listenable). I will still get a couple dropouts when first starting a stream (sometimes, not always) but after 30 seconds to a minute it seems to settle down and be fine as long as I keep the WiFi off.

Just to clarify the situation..
My Xperia Z2 have the same issues.. It is not your phone but the Bluetooth stack in android that pretty much sucks the problems you are dicribing has been there since android 4.2 on a lot of devices.
I have just changed my Lumia 1020 out with this Z2 and call me disappointed in music quality! On the Lumia you would have trouble hearing a difference between jack/auxiliary and Bluetooth..
And today I did notice some dropouts even with WiFi off well into my drive but it was just a few packets I would guess more of an annoyance than a serious problem. I've heard about issues in the Android BT stack but the confusing part of that is why certain devices (such as my Atrix HD) don't seem to experience the problem.
I have a bluetooth stereo I use every morning in my home and a bluetooth stereo in my car. I almost exclusively use pandora, but I have also used power amp on longer trips. I have never experience this issue with my opo. I have ran 25-33 all rooted with no problems and am currently using CM11 nightlies. I also am not having any wifi issues.
Sorry it's not very helpful, but it doesn't sound like a widespread issue at least.
It certainly has something to do with the particular bluetooth implementation used by the receiver interacting with the OPO. As I indicated I have three different BT receivers I can test with and the problem affects two of them but not the other.
I've got this really annoying issue that I keep somehow getting rid of, but it comes back on it's own.
Any sound that plays from the phone e.g. Ringtones, YouTube, Poweramp, etc...
The audio levels get clipped, like something is trying to adjust the gain of the sound, parts that should be loud are not loud, but instead clipped to a really low level.
I've disabled AudioFX, cleared the data for it, and disabled the audio settings within Poweramp.
I've tried to get an example of it with my camera, but of course it's not doing it when I pull out the camera, next time Poweramp does it, I'll record it.
If I receive a call it clips the ringtone sometimes, but I tried calling the phone a second time and it didn't clip.
Really don't know what's going on, just want the audio to work properly.
I'm on 33R, Unlocked Bootloader Rooted.
If anyone knows how to fix this, I'd be really happy.
Could anyone also recommend an app that's like Poweramp, but free? I like it, but it's not quite right.
Removed Poweramp and the problem appears to be gone.
Even though I had all the audio settings disabled in Poweramp?
Still having the issue...
I have no idea what to look for now.
I seem to be having the same issue occasionally. It doesn't bother me overly much though. I just don't think the internal speakers of of the highest quality but everything else on this device is superb
I do however believe at least some of the issue is caused by the fact the the speaker grill holes are quite small so when the volume is high a lot of air pressure is created in the speaker cavity which may attribute to the the problem.
It's purely software.
Happens with the volume at 50% as well.
I have this issue too. Thought it was my headphones so tried all my pairs and it happens on all of them. Its an issue the Nexus 5 has as well and it has to do with how the phone handles the signal from the towers from you're carrier. As to my knowledge there is no fix for it yet.

I switched to SlimKat ROM, haven't had the issue since my last post in this thread.

So are the working on a fix or how do we fix it? Because its annoying af.
Just wanted to report in again.
Still haven't had the audio clipping issue since switching to SlimKat.
The audio issue was really the only reason I had to even bother trying a ROM other than CM11S.
My experience with SlimKat on I9300 was a no-brainer to be the first ROM to try on my One.

Running PA 4.6 Beta and its horrible. I can't stream one song on Spotify with out it clipping through. May be downloading SlimKat tonight to give it a go.
I still get the clipping on Slimkat, battery life is great tho.
Which build? I'm on Stable 7.0
When I call someone, the ringing sounds kind of funny, but other than that, every other sound works perfect so far.
I recently got my Nvidia Shield for Christmas and upon installing the ATT LTE data Sim I seem to have a crackleing sound when using data. It does not make the sound while not using data example just playing music or games but it will if I'm listening to music and say... Search the web or anything like that. The noise doesn't happen when using WiFi or listening over the tablet speakers.
I have another sound problem that occurs seldomly when playing music over the speakers (both with WiFi and LTE). The tablet makes a, what I call, transformer like noise; the noise to the best I can describe sounds like a medium tone zap not high pitched.
Does anyone else have these problems and how do I fix them/do I need to sent this one back?
We have discussed a similar thing here;

Is this the sort of thing you mean?
Thanks
I get the digital sound stretch/squelch "transformer" noise you're referring to sometimes. I'm not sure how you'd fix that: I think it's a quirk of this tablet.

I don't have the crackling happen to the speakers only the squelch.
I get it some times, I've had it happen when there are a lot of apps going, and if an app hits high cpu load it seems. It'll do it for a moment, and clear up for a while. Closing down the backgrounded apps seems to help me. YMMV
Edit: You running latest update? I noticed it start after the 5.0.1 update.

I've had this same issue on every version of the OS. I've had the tablet since a week after release in August and have run every update on the tablet and still get the noise, sometimes it is rather loud. It seems to do it more when stressing the tablet, I used to have Real Racing 3 on the tablet with the graphics modded to run at their highest, it would occasionally freeze up, and when it resumed, the speakers would squeak nearly every time.
I may not have just noticed it prior. But yours appears to be the same that mine is doing.
