[Q] S3 xposed most popular modules - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Guys
I was wondering if people would share Xposed modules people use on their S3 and may why.
Thanks in advanced

Wanam is probably the most comprehensive module. It lets you modify a lot of the things you normally find in custom Rom (4 way power, battery, notifications, lock screen).
The second is jelly bean 4.x airplane. Let's apps set the phone to airplane mode. I use it to let apps schedule no network at night.

I run BootManager on all my roms, because it lets you select which apps run @ boot.
GravityBox is a must-have for roms like CM and AOKP, because it lets you mod the statusbar and add a nav bar (if you love it like I do). However, if you have Gummy, SlimKat or many of the current roms out there, you don't need this app's features, because it's baked into the roms.

This belongs in the Questions forum because its a question.

I'd like to point out that Wanam gives an error if you're on an AOSP-based rom, that it only works with TW. Not sure if that's legit or not.

U need Wanam 4.4

I was hoping for a thread like this :good::laugh:
I generally use AOSP roms and Xposed. I have been quite partial towards these three modules but mostly the first two:
1) XhaloFloatingWindow: I like Paranoid Android's Halo and I love AOSP, but not every AOSP rom comes with Halo. Since the AOSP rom I use does not include Halo, I use this module to enable it to a certain degree. The module dev is amazingly responsive to requests and in the short time since I started using this, it has gone from just enabling window pops to allowing customizable and resizable window popups, a title bar to maximize/minimize/close the window, window snapping to left/right/top/bottom of your display, whitelist or blacklist to decide which apps open in Halo popup, and many other features. Even though I do not use features like window snapping or resizing of window popups, the fact that it has expanded from a single use to so much more has made this module truly impressive. This module works best with AOSP and you may have issues on TouchWiz.
Sidenote: This is not an Xposed module, however, the app Floating Notifications allows me to have notification bubbles akin to Halo. What this means is that, instead of pulling down my notification bar to check my notifications, I can view them on screen regardless of the app I am in (or only in user specified apps) and interact/dismiss them at will. Beginning in JB 4.2.2, Google introduced something called Notificationlistenerservice API which allows apps to read and dismiss notification(s) without the user actively opening their notification tray. By using an app such as Floating Notifications (or a substitute) I can view my notifications while using whichever app I am currently in, tap the notification bubble which will open into a XHalo-enabled small window, interact with that notification, and close it.
2) Greenify: this module helps force apps to hibernate. I find that it helps reduce wakelocks which theoretically will not clutter up your favorite battery monitoring app (like BetterBatteryStats or Wakelock Detector) and will give you a little extra boost in battery life. I use it specifically for Google Search cuz in my daily usage, it has the most insane number of wakelocks of all my apps. I can't say that my battery life is miles better, it might only be 20 minutes better than without Greenify, however I have fewer instances where my battery has drained significantly and unbeknownst to me.
3) App Settings: this module allows you to edit the DPI of specific apps. I use Chrome Beta and it only removed the address bar as you start to scroll down. I prefer to have it in true full-screen like the AOSP browser (which removes the status bar) so I use App Settings to force Chrome Beta to do so. App Settings allows you to force portrait only apps into landscape however I find this to be hit or miss on the Verge app which is my only experience with a portrait-restricted app.

Ahh... that's "Wanam Kit"

Do you really need "Multiple widgets" any more if I'm on TW 4.3?

Well I do. I like having the quick camera access by swiping my lock screen because I use a pin lock. Also its the only way to add a 3rd party lock screen widget and I love the cLock app.

Note pro 12.2 is it worth Rooting?

I have been using the device for a while right now and I saw a lot of topic about people talking about rooting the device. the question is, is it worth rooting? I don't actually see the need for that. So, if anyone can point out some major reason for rooting for me please?

I rooted mine only because I couldn't write to extSD as I bought it for reading eBooks which would be stored in extSD. I also freeze indexservice which drained the battery. Adaway is also another good reason to root.

It's totally subjective; if you don't see a need then don't worry about it. Sites like this though exist in part because there are many who do have a need/desire to take things further than stock is able to go.
Reason's for me to root include:
Freezing of stock applications I don't want loading at any time (stock browser, stock email, e-meeting, web-ex, group play, knox, magazine widgets, stock music app, netflix, ny times, remote pc, screen saver, side-sync are all frozen using titanium backup on my device).
Installing Xposed Framework to customize the tablet - disabled youtube ads, customized multi-window menus, per application display density/resolution control for greater leverage of screen real estate, status bar tweaks and notification tweaks to name a few)
Full greenify support through Xposed framework - ability to hybernate applications to keep memory use low and maximize battery life.
Button savior application - ability to quickly access home/back/menu buttons from the side of the tablet in landscape instead of having to use the built in capacitive ones.
Titanium backup - ability to keep a backup of my last couple of versions of each application so that should an app update produce results that i don't like I can easily revert to an older version.
As has been stated, allowing for write access to external microSD.
Just a few tweaks I've added to my tablet. I continue to experiment with xposed modules as time goes on. All subjective "needs".
Every reason listed below is why I need root on my VZW Tablet.

I rooted it to use adaway, xposed with wanam xposed module and to uninstall bloatware.
Don't forget about changing to what we're font you want.
Really, if you live to tinker, you have to root. If you are just a user (nothing wrong with that) then rooting may not mean anything to you.

Are there any functions that would be lost by rooting, for example the ability to use screen mirroring?

Okay.. Can I borrow this thread a bit?
Can you change overall colour theme of NP? I have thought of buying one (LTE Model) and I just hate how it looks when settings, "drop down" notification bar etc.. are on white background. Is it possible change those to black like all AMOLED phones / tablets have?
Thanks.

Nope. With xposed framework you can install wanam module to ATTEMPT to do it. I say attempt because try as I might I could not change the color of the volume slider background. I posted a screenshot of my issue in the wanam thread but am not sure if it will be addressed in an update soon as I am not sure the developer has the means to look into it. We shall see, it's not like that module is updated frequently since it takes a lot of effort to find the settings in various versions of roms. If I had one complaint about the note pro it would be that the quick settings tiles and notification pull down is far too wasteful of screen real estate to the point that it's shameful. Tiles are huge on it and with the sliders extended one has to scroll frequently in landscape mode.

Not really, but with rooting, you will be able to install themes. There is currently one very interesting theme available for the Note 10.1, I am hoping a port may eventually become available for our device. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2687087
While the theme is "busy" compared to the Pro's generic white everywhere idea, it does harken back to the early days of Android hacking and the interesting icons which appeared. I'd probably give it a go on my Pro if it became available.
I too would like to theme my tablet. I like the look of some experia stuff quite a lot.

Has anyone tried to force it into tablet mode? I used to get a dropdown bar like the one on the note pro if I lowered my dpi on my note 2. Just in the middle. If you lowered it far enough and used a patch ui.apk you could get a tablet style menu bar on the note 2 (man I miss that)

Please join this community then folow the link in the sticky post to help me test new feature, thanks!
Some issues:
Accessibility service can cause lag on some device when use Chrome, this happen to all application that use accessibility service as you can see in this thread . If the lag is too extreme please disable the Swiftly switch accessibilty service, all feature still available except the navigation (home, back).
If you return to home screen and then launch an app, it won't be launched until about 5 seconds after going home. This is beacause Android do not let any service launch apps before 5 seconds has pass from return to home screen.
Sorry
I just edit the post

I bealive it can't effect battery life enough to concern. Actually it just draw 1 (or 2) transparent rectangle on top screen then leave it alone until user swipe from it.
Thanks for your question, I just look at it after your question. Luckly I can't find Swiftly switch in my phone's battery report:
Have you try it yet, please share your thought about that

Yes, it show list of 6 recent app and let you switch between them.

Thank you for the good app! I noticed several features (out their absence), which hold me on Switchr instead moving to your app.
1. I could put Switchr a not higher, 1/3 from the top of my phone. Your app is possible to put only in the center. It's impossible to lift it a bit higher saving the length of a sensitive zone. That is a problem.
2. I have root and prefer to kill app from the switchr if it misbehaves. With your app I cannot.
3. In switchr I could see actively running apps and recent apps which are not longer in the memory. With your app I cannot see it.
Unlike Switchr your app is quicker, more responsive. I like it. And your idea with favorites is really great. Thank you for the good job and your hard work!

The best way is to implement this opportunity and to explain users in settings under what conditions these features work (root, OS version, XPosed Unrestricted Task module).

Thanks for your feedback. I primarily make this app for non root user, as this app growing I will consider add more function for root user.
About position of the edge you can set to Right-top or Left-top in each edge setting so you can save the centre zone.

Did this app work on Lolipop and above? As I know from lolipop I can't use the same code to get recent app like befor, and that why swichr can't get recent app unless you have Xposed module UnrestictedGetTasks.
I have a nexus 6p and before that Note 4 - neither of which were rooted. So 6 and 5.1.1
With that said, it was just a launcher and didnt access recent apps. I guess you need if for that?

Yes, as I know, from lolipop, I need Usage stat to access recent apps.
My app use that permission only for that, as you can see, it doesn't ask for any internet permission.
Some bugs
Hey love the app.
But noticed a couple of bugs on my Note 4. The show notification does not bring down the notification shade. And back sometimes does not come up. It takes multiple tries it seems like I have to push my finger off the target area to get a haptic feedback and for the back command to register.
Continue the great work.
Nice! Just installed it
lollipop here, it got stuck for me and I had to restart couldnt click any app or dismiss it
Seems like a great idea for large screen phones too where its hard to use with one hand. Will give it a go on my Nexus 6P and report back!

Must Have Apps On The ROG Phone [08-12-2018]

Hi guys,
These apps i am about to introduce will change your phone experience for the better not just our phone for that matter but any Android phone.
1. Immersive Mode Manager(Paid)
This app is a must for every Amoled screen to protect your phone from future screen burn, the other thing is you get to enjoy the full screen experience with every app on your phone. I install this app on all of my Android devices.
I have created a thread long ago doing it manually but i think it's too much of work for people who want an app for that, if you want a manual free alternative check it out.
2. Fluid Navigation Gestures(Free/Pro Features)
This is my second go to app which i was introduced to recently. I will dare to say IMPO that it's the best custom gesture navigation app on Android currently.
By the way our Asus gesture navigation is not bad but i feel it's not polished yet. Also by using Fluid Navigation Gestures we can disable the navigation bar in the keyboard so that is a plus. So go ahead and give it a try.
3. JINA: App Drawer, Sidebar & Folder Organizer(Free)
This app is also a recent discovery and i highly recommend it. What the stock rom or custom rom for that matter lacks to date is the ability to access your apps form any app without going back to the Home launcher to access the drawer. With this app you can achieve that and then some more. The only downside of this app is that it's not noob friendly it will take you a lot of time to figure out all the features it has. The best thing about it you can customize every aspect of it and it's free.
4. Glimpse Notifications, Always On Edge - Edge Lighting or Glance Plus(Free/ Free / Free)
So to my surprise the ROG phone doesn't wake the device when you receive notifications like my previous HTC phone, but don't fret because here where Glimpse Notifications solves the problem that is if you just want the screen to simply light up. If you want more customization then the other two apps are great to check out.
5. Blokada(Free)
You must have an Ad blocker on the list if you are unrooted and definitely one of the best open source and free app out there is this one.
6. Popup Widget 3(Paid)
Now this app will get your phone setup to another level, instead of cluttering your homescreen with widgets how about hiding them and calling them when needed only either through your home launcher gestures or a shortcut sidebar ... . Pretty cool right!. Now this isn't a must have app but i had to mention it because it's absolutely amazing. I have an old video featuring it check it out.
-------
I will keep updating this thread once other apps are discovered or suggested.
-------
*Launcher used: Nova Launcher
*Icon Pack: Pixel Icon Pack
Here is an updated video to showcase everything
Great List ! Much appreciated !
Thanks
Cool "A Liquid Cloud" live wallpaper. I bought the paid version to support the developer, but the free version is great.
Swiftkey Keyboard
Textra SMS
Firefox browser
I used to use a third party camera, but I like the default camera and love playing with Google Lens
I used to use Apex launcher, but they have gone downhill lately forcing bloatware on you. I might stick with the default. I like the default theme.
I have installed Immersive Mode Manager! Very cool!
is there any app or setting mod that allows can turn the RGB /aura lighting into a visualizer for audio/media playback ? like the audio visualizer chroma app available for razer chroma windows on windows platform ?

[Resolved] How to force an app to NOT be in fullscreen or suggest me a non fullscreen paint-like

Hello, I want to have something extremely simple yet I can't find a working way to have it: I just want to be able to solve some sudoku-like puzzles where I have to shade some cells using a paint bucket tool on png files just like on windows paint, but I want to see if wifi is available while doing so, but the irony is I struggled to find a paint-like that does such a simple thing, it's called PhotoSuite and the problem is that it hides the notification bar.
So do you know an alternative to this app ? Or a way to force the app to not be in fullscreen or at least show wifi signal on overlay (and if possible icon notification that may appear from a game telling me it's my turn to play) ? I tried a module of xposed but the problem is that with last stable or even experimental version the framework is still not installed after download and reboot. Bird bar, Smart Statusbar, Swipe status bar, "open notification bar", also don't do it. My phone is on android 4.1.2.

You cant expect everything to work with 4.1.2, 4.1.2 isn't really supported anymore, most of today's apps are for 4.4 and newer.
If you want to use current apps and software, may I suggest you upgrade to a more recent device that has at least 4.4 or 5.0. It doesn't have to be a new device, there are plenty of used devices with 4.4 and newer software.
Sent from my LGLS755 using Tapatalk
Well xposed is actually something that works better, if not only, with android 4, so unless my phone specifically don't work with it for some reason it should have worked. But alternatively, I'm pretty sure there must be some very basic paint-like apps that works on my phone, actually I'm pretty sure some were made even for android 1 given how basic that is.
Since I really don't want much from my phone (I almost never went to the google play store) I don't want to buy a more recent one and the one I have doesn't have any custom rom to upgrade it, unlike a galaxy s I have (but it's way slower and have less ram).
There we go: I tried many other paint softwares, none did what I wanted, so instead I tried to make xposed framework work, it works perfectly on my older phone but on this one all I had to do was to check "Disabled resource hooks". I'm still surprised by the fact that it's way easier to force an app to be in fullscreen than to prevent it.

Questions About Using Lineage OS 18.1 on Pixel 3

Greetings,
So I've successfully installed Lineage OS 18.1 Nightly and it runs really well. I've got the NikGapps Core and Magisk installed. Was able to add the apps I like from Google Play store and used the free or open source alternatives I could find for others.
I have a few questions for anyone using Lineage since I'm not sure if these are bugs or design choices or parts of Android 11.
Any clarification would be great. Basically, there's a few things I noticed that are different/don't seem to operate normally.
I can upload screenshots if necessary but let me give you the cliff notes of what I'm experiencing:
-No labels on the home screen icons, even though setting says "Show labels on desktop". Is this me interpreting something incorrectly?
-All icons on the home screen and app drawer appear to have a white background... should be transparent?
-The default sms messaging app always shows quick replay phrases despite turning off the setting "Always suggest quick actions/replies" in the notifications menu
-There is no way to turn off suggested apps... when you use an app it places it in a new section at the top of the app drawer. Looks like the menu setting is missing (there in vanilla A11).
-There is no built in volume limited. This was on my stock Galaxy S7 so if it is an OEM thing I understand. Perhaps you have a suggestion?
-Notifications from the default sms messaging app do not pop up over other on screen elements (specifically fullscreen video in Brave). Does this have to do with the "Bubbles" setting under notifications?
-Screen automatically dims/sleeps when watching fullscreen video (again in Brave)... happens inconsistently and going in/out of fullscreen seems to stop it from happening again.
-There is no swype ability on the keyboard. I assume this is a OEM keyboard setting or something.. is there an alternate keyboard you would recommend (open source, free) that won't steal your info/privacy violations?
-Last thing which is more of a question than anything else, since I cannot install a stable twrp, I used the Lineage OS recovery. It doesn't seem to have a backup/restore function. So is there a way for me to, with the setup I currently have, to do a complete and full backup? By this I mean like capture an image of all the partitions as they currently are, as you would with a PC.
Sorry for n00b but the last unlocked rooted custom rom I ran was Cyanogen back on a Motorola Photon. Thank you in advance, any input or clarification is much appreciated as you are a helpful, insightful bunch here.
