There may be many reasons for error in restoring data..
If u r so desperate, U can just go to advance restore menu and restore boot & system only..
Hope this helps you..

sometime theme files confict with custom rom files. I will suggest to use a clean custom rom without theme. If u want to use theme then use it on xxkpq stock rom.
i think i know the solution for this.this happened to me also.
first you should format your sd card(settings>sd card and storage>unmount sd card>format sd card)
then create the backup again.dont change the default file name(just to be on a safer side)
then try to restore it.hope it helps

good point! making spaces in the name will cause errors, which is the main reason not to rename it. you didn't mention if you're trying to use CWM's option to create a new backup with a specific name, anna... is that what you're doing?

[Trick][Noob Friendly]How to fix md5 sum mismatch error in CWM easy n quick!!

Hi guys,
I have started this life saver thread (lol) for those who are getting md5 mismatch error while restoring backups in cwm..:screwy:
Dont delete the precious backups which show error in restoring due to md5 midmatch..
There are lot of methods to fix this but they all require terminal, adb n such things.. but I bet My method is d easiest..
Let's start,
Things required..
Nothing!!! Except a good file explorer which has a option to create new file.. I prefer root explorer but it costs to buy..
Cautionon't rename any folders in the backup Coz it makes ur backup useless..
1.Now open your file explorer & navigate to your clockworkmod/backup/(choose the backup which u want to restore)/ folder on your sd card and u will see a file called nandroid.md5 which contains all d info about the rom on which d backup was made..
2.Back up & then Delete the nandroid.md5 file and in options create a new file & name it as nandroid.md5 exactly as it was before (DON'T USE CAPS WHILE NAMING)..
3.Make sure u don't touch anything else & exit your file explorer..
4.Enter into cwm recovery and restore the backup which u modified.. Yuppy!! Restore successful..
OTHER CASES FOR RESTORING FAILURE
1.A bad or damaged backup
2.Problem with kernels related to mounting & unmounting /system,/data,/cache
3.Some have reported error in restoring bcoz of some folder created in system by root all data 2 sd app..
4.Renamed backups
If this method dint work for u then pls search & try other complicated methods..
Pls report after using this method and press thanks if this helped you..

It works on the ext SD card!
I don't have a file called nandroid.md5 in my backup
What if there is no TWRP recovery installed, only CWM 6.0 version installed.

What if the recovery installed before ROM flashing was not from TWRP but from CWM 6.0 version? And what if the backup was faulty with error message " failed to mount data" but the person continued the ROM flashing with a hope that everything will be fine, but it wasn't the Cyanogen 10.2 nightly was too faulty for the Samsung Galaxy i9001. Now I'm stuck with the blue Cyanogen rotating logo, unable to reboot and unable to go back to my default system, MD5 mismatch error. Can I do the steps mentioned through a PC, by accessing the folders and files inside the device by USB?

That happens in some cases, means your backup didnt finished (probably you didnt had enought space for it)
Just create an new file nandroid.md5, and try to restore it You have nothing to loose

I searched for a thread with a similar thread but i couldn't find one.

I am using CWM 5 and it refuses to install CWM zips for some reason. It gives status error 0 installation failed. I have no idea how to fix this problem. Will be grateful for your help.

status 0 error comes due to bad binaries file. Just update binaries of that zip or give a shot from CWM 6.0.1.1.

For updation of binaries->Just extract any CWM File of Galaxy R at your PC/mobile. It will show 2-3 folders. Go to Meta-info folder->In the end of Folders you will see 2 files. one is Update script & second is Update-binaries. These Wrong update binaries become problem of Status 0.
For flashing CWM 6.0.1.1-> Flash This file using CWM
Just click "Show Content" if you think you are Newbie.

Buddy, I have given then CWM 6.0.1.1. extract the inside files. Just follow the above process ( Copy paste of Update-binary file).
MJ buddy, I think we must create the Status error thread with solution coz its so hard to make understand "HOW TO" for the same.

Mj asked me to flash the CWM zip that u gave me so thats exactly what i did. I flashed the zip via CWM and then tried flashing the other zip files(which had failed earlier) and it didnt work. So to be clear - u want me to extract the zip u provided and replace the binaries in the zips(whose flashing failed) with the one from CWM 6.0.1.1 ? and then compress it into zip format (via winzip or winrar). Am i right ?

Yes buddy, so instead of compressing it, just use Winrar. open both files (i.e. error one & CMW)-> Delete update binaries file from Error one-> extract File (update binaries) from CWM.-> Just Drag & drop using mouse the extracted file to Error Ziped file-> Just press ok whatever Winrar says(it will add it in the file)-> Flash that error file now & report.
@MJ, i think you have made a thread regarding CWM errors..??

Stock ROM yes but i use CWM recovery for all practical purposes. As all zips are given in CWM flashable formats including ones as basic as Superuser.zip . Currently I am on X-perience ROM and im using CWM 6.0.1.1. before which i was using CWM 5.5.x

Status 7 error is due to Updater-script.
Delete the whole get.prop line from the updater-script.
It is the very first line of updater-script.
hey ...I extracted all the folders and zipped it again..then I was abl to flash it successfully.. I think I should not have renamed it ..it shud be zipped properly
