[Q] Kartini Engine v2.0 Stuck On Bootscreen - Sony Xperia L

So I'm having this problem installing the Kartini engine:
I know it says that the first boot is supposed to take a long time, but its been 3 hours now and the phone is still stuck on the bootanimation screen
I followed the instructions to the letter - I was on the latest firmware (15.3.a.1.12), rooted, ulocked BL, deodexed and with custom kernel (Phantom v4.5).
Then I flashed the Kartini Engine zip, then the dual pane mode zip, and finally the zip for c2104, but its been stuck at the bootanimation screen for 3 hours. I didn't want to just remove the battery between the process, without checking with anyone else.
Any idea what's going wrong?
Here's the link to the thread, in case anyone needs : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2600244
P.S. - I imagine this question would have been better placed in the rom's thread itself (not sure though, sorry, I'm new to any kind of forums in general), but it seems like I can't do that until I fulfill the minimum amount of posts required

Whoops, seems like I posted this thread in the wrong section
Any idea how to move it?

report it by clicking "!" on the upper right

Thanks.
Now back to the original issue.. any ideas?

You should deodex your xperia l before installing this ROM?
This happened with me too. Flashed this ROM without deodexing and got bootloop.
If you have nandroid backup then restore it from recovery otherwise flash ftf from flashtool.

i got this prob too...
what should i do if deodexing not solve this prob?
still booting about 1 hour T_T

Yes, I had already deodexed, as stated in my first post
I have now restored my nandroid backup, back to my original state (so no worries), but still no idea as to why the problem occurred..
On the other hand, the developer has now released v3.0, gonna check that out, see if that changes things .

Have you checked your system\app folder if there any file with .odex extension present or not.

This is the new value pack, i.e new official firmware.
It contains the Al Jazeera widget you were talking about. In addition, it has apps like tquran and prayertimes. It has a new lockscreen and callscreen.
It's perfectly safe to flash it. I got first hand experience.
Just flash it.

HELP! Brick Bug!

So long story short, my tab was running stock ICS (rooted, with temp CWM/cwm.zip). I decided to try a new rom (paranoid android) so I backed up everything via CWM and I flashed the new rom. But I forgot to do a factory reset before doing so which resulted in a bootloop. I returned to CWM to try to restore the previous ROM, all seemed to be fine and the tab restarted but was also bootlooped. Now I can't even access the stock recovery to acess CWM, I get an error message:
# MANUAL MODE #
-- Appling Multi-CSC...
Applied the CSC code : THL
Successfully applied multi-CSC
E :failed to mount / system (invalid argument) <in red.
Is there anything I can do to return to my stock ROM?!
Do I have the Brick Bug?

Can it get into download mode? If so try flash a stock rom with odin. Im not a sgt user but i am a samsung phone user and usualy when i forget to wipe all i have to do is go back into recovery. Then wipe everything and flash the same rom. NEVER go straight to a backup unless you pass setup. Then it can create a link almost so it supports going back. Or so thats what ive been told by devs on other forums...sounds kinda wierd tho but anyway if you forget to do something while flashing roms then go back indo recovery and do it again

I did everything you said, but the progress bar has been stuck at 75% for over an hour, this has happened with all the ROMs I've tried to install. Is there anything else I could do? I red somewhere that a low battery doesn't allow ROMs to be installed properly.
Although I have no idea of my battery life, I'm just gonna leave it to charge for a bit. I hope everything turns out fine eventually

Battery life has nothing to do with it. People just say make sure you have high battery incase something happens. I think that it might be a very expensive brick now. Unless anyone else knows then i habe no idea

I was reading the following articles:
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/samsung-diligently-working-towards-hardbrick-fix/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1810954
Could this Brick Bug be the source of my problems?
I was running a leaked version of ICS AND I have been using the cwm.zip so there is the possibility
Being unable to flash through either Odin or CWM surely sounds a lot like the brickbug.
If I were you, I'd reboot to download mode, and install a full ROM with repartition + PIT file. If it works, install locerra's CWM (it's one of the few recoveries for our tablet that's confirmed to be brickbug-free), and work as usual. But remember to wipe everything before installing anything through CWM...
If Odin doesn't work, you probably have been hit by the brickbug. However, all is not lost: this guy seems to have found a "fix" for many devices. It involves giving up on all your data and making your onboard storage a couple of GB smaller than it used to be, but it can make your device work again. Read the thread, try to understand it, and (if you can't find another way out) use the PIT file for the GT-6800 provided. If your tab isn't the international WiFi+3G GT-P6800, you may have to ask the guy (hg42) for a PIT tailored to your device.
The other option, in the case of a eMMC-related brick, is to remove all traces of CWM, go to a Samsung store and repair it under warranty, saying "its broke down when I were running that backie upppe thing in kies".
The other option is the better one, as i bricked my note. When i am able to revive it, i am left with 8GB space and it seems real laggy. Change a new motherboard would be better if still cover undr warrantly.

Thanks for the replies guy.
I have decided I will return it as faulty, in the hope it is repaired. I haven't been able to boot into CWM anymore, only the download mode, so I am guessing it is fine to return it as it is?
Thanks

If I were you, I'd return it to something as close to stock as possible.
One suggestion: grab the latest Odin-flashable ROM for your country. You'll get a .tar.md5 file, such as P6800UBLA2_P6800ZTOLA2_ZTO.tar.md5. Try to flash it through Odin, just to see if it works; if it doesn't, write down the name of the .img file that gave you problems. If it works, congratulations, you have your tablet back, and you can stop reading.
Now, Rename that file to .tar (or, remove the .md5 extension), and open it in WinRAR/7zip/whatever. You'll see a lot of .img files inside, including the one that gave you problems. Remove it, and try to flash this new .tar file. If the flash works, proceed to the next paragraph. If it doesn't, write down the name of the .img file that gave you problems, and repeat this paragraph using your new .tar file.
After a flash that works, your device should be as close to stock as possible. Maybe it will even boot, but I wouldn't count on it (try anyway). I'd send it to the repair centre only when it is at this stage.

Even so, flash the other .imgs. You want to be closest to stock, including the recovery (imagine the guys at the Samsung centre manage to enter recovery, just to see CWM: your warranty is now gone). Having all partitions on stock, or at least most of them, can only help your case.

[SYSTEM] De-Odex Framework / System [No-Wipe]

Currently designed for the Wifi version only. Alternates available upon request.
This package includes the de-odexed system and framework folder based on a wifi model.
This is NOT a full install, so do NOT wipe before using.
This package is designed to be used with the custom recovery image. This will NOT work with Odin.
This will delete the current system and framework folders and flash the new ones in their place. This is only a temporary solution until a full rooted install is established.

Request!
My Verizon GC120 should be here in a couple of days. As far as I know it is untouched stock. Let me know the commands to pull the files you need for this and the other dev work you are doing.
Thank you for taking the time to do the work! We all appreciate it!
Finally received a GC120 camera I can do something with. Attached are the .img files pulled. About says my phone is on 4.1.2 (LK3) but I keep getting an install update request although the folder titled as the update in /cache is empty (so there's nothing I can pull from that).
I also pulled the modem.bin but it says invalid file when I try to upload.
*These are the files for LK3
Camera updated to LL2. Updated files attached.
MC4 files attached
So maybe I screwed myself updating all the way to MK4 update. Can't root using framaroot now like I did with all the others. Gonna try a few other options.
Can someone please tell me the adb command to find whether a bootloader is locked or not? I have tried several I've found online and don't receive anything conclusive. Thanks.
Be back in a week or so. Final project is in the beta test stage so I am swamped until it reaches the release candidate.

I dug through everything I have but no efs.img and if I remember right, you'd need one with your IMEI. Best bet is probably a factory reset.
Didn't help... tried factory reset with stock recovery and cwm recovery... nothing helps... i don't know a way to get it fixed... will keep looking...
Finally got it fixed. As GC100 is similar to S3, downloaded efs file for S3 flashed it via odin through bootloader and voila... attaching the file for reference if anyone else gets into trouble!

[Q] Cannot update custom Rom with OTA update

Hi gents/ladies.
I'm using the deox ROM from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2535024 and last night I got the 4.3 Sense 5.5 update from HTC.
When it tries to update it goes into TWRP recovery and does nothing.
I found the update myself in sdcard/downloads. When I try to run it I get all kinds of errors which sadly i Don't know how to screen print.
When I reboot into the system the update is still sitting in the notification bar.
Any ideas?
Love n hugs
You can't update over a custom rom. You need to use stock or the guide posted in general or q and a forum.

noob question
hello everyone and happy new year guys n gals!!
i have my new htc one mini for almost a week so i haven't been playing around with any roms etc. I upgraded to the new ota 3-4 days ago and i have managed to get my phone saying
**TAMPERED**
**UNLOCKED**
im using the TW recovery and im about to try the Odex rom.
Am I good to go like that and flash it or do I need anything else? The tampered means that Im rooted?
Thats my 2nd smartphone..my 1st was a wildfire S so as u can understand Im feeling like a pimp at the moment the device is amazing and i cant taste the proper feeling it yet
I think i've soft bricked my phone.
I cracked open the ZIP file and did a fastboot flash recovery recovery.zip
This wiped my phone but put me back on the stock recovery.
I then tried to pull down the OTA update. It got half way then bombed out with a red explination mark.
I then went back to fastboot and did fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot -w update 0B4S9ke6WTqTJSVEzZkExV0xzdnM.zip
I got the error:
archive does not contain 'android-info.txt'
archive does not contain 'android-product.txt'
error package has no android-info.txt or android-product.txt
Now i'm stuck on a white HTC ONE screen.
Any suggestions?

Which ROM are you on now, pure stock? You have unlocked the bootloader, and can still boot, so I assume you are S-ON?
Question: Any reason why you are flashing the odex rom? If you want to pimp proper style, deodex is your best bet....you are flashing tr1gg3r84's 4.3 stock right? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2575766

Yup, you've gone soft....
Not to much of a problem - please supply the following information:
ROM base (stock/custom?)
Bootloader status - locked/unlocked
S-ON or S-OFF
You get to the bootloader menu by pressing the power key and volume down buttons together until it appears....
Thanks for your response, totally soft!
I'm trying to go back to stock ROM from triggers Stock 4.2.2 - 1.22.401.1 Odexed, the OTA zip is 4.3 sense 5.5
Unlocked, s-on
There was a zip folder within the OTA zip called firmware with a bunch of .img files and the android-version.txt.
I unzipped them into the OTA zip and ran fastboot -w ota.zip again and this time got
archive does not contain boot.sig
archive does not contain recovery.sig
archive does not contain system.sig
I extracted the whole folder looking for sig files but can't find anything.
In a perfect world I'd sooner go to a ROM without all the bloatware crap like best deals etc. Failing that I'd like to stick as close to stock as possible.
Thanks for your help, appreciate it.
Well..not sure why i flashed the odex one...if i flash the deodex what will i keep from the setup i ve done so far?? I think im s-on and rooted. Is there a way to see if im s on or not??
Yes im flashing the 4.3!
The specific rom tho is nice and clean..the option to have blink off is a charm!!
I have an issue with my back up tho..i think im having duplicated data..
So the deodex is the one that really boosts the dev??

First off, I'd suggest you flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2575766 which IS stock, only SuperSU and kernel mods added.
Fastboot flash the TWRP recovery, factory reset from wipe menu, reboot to recovery, ADB push the ROM and SuperSU v1.86 (download from chainfire). Flash the ROM and SuperSU.
Once you are up and running, and still want to de-bloat, then search for my post about Romcleaner.....
If you need detailed instructions, let us know!

The bootloader menu shows your phone status (hold power key and volume down until it appears).
Install DiskUsage from the store, it will show you if you have large files/cache on your sdcard.
Yes, deodex is more dev "friendly"

Silly me..i hadnt read the lines until their end Im S-on.. Is that good or do i need s-off?
Thnx a lot for the info about the diskUsage. Very handy prog! And I saw that Ive messed up the internal mem..too many partitions for no specific reason and around 600mb of cache.
If I want to make a fresh install of the deodex do I need to make a clear storage along with the davlik/cache wipe and factory reset?

Yes, you need to format data, not just wipe - BE WARNED, this will remove ALL user data from your phone, INCLUDING any nandroid backups.....
If you are flashing the 4.3 deodex you don't need to be S-OFF
Oh, and remember to flash boot.img which you extract from the rom zip file - do this AFTER you have wiped, adb pushed rom and supersu, installed both, rebooted to recovery, then reboot to bootloader - when there, use: fastboot flash boot boot.img

And I'm baaaaaaack!
Thanks for your help, I had to sideload the ROM as push locked up TWRP but got it on in the end. SuperSU installed itself, possibly from the market, it didn't stick so had to download it from the link and push it via TWRP.
The ROMCleaner is a gem, got rid of loads of ****. I'm guessing the parent controls are there to stay though yes?
Other than that, thanks again, really helped me no end, I appreciete it.

No problem, happy that I helped!
You can get rid of Kid Mode/Parent controls by either freezing (or uninstalling) Kid Mode using Titanium Backup, or add KidMode-google.apk to your romcleaner user file....

Hi again,
Sorry to pester you once again, hope you don't mind.
So I used the ROM cleaner and may have stuffed things up.
It got rid of some crap like Best Deals, but now my blink feed only has Facebook and Google+ updates, I can't seem to use it for the news; which oddly enough is all I use it for!
Also I'm looking at the text file and it does say:
com.twitter.android*.apk Twitter
yet Twitter is still installed. A piece of software I care not about.
Did I use the wrong file or something? Is there a way of reverting or do I start from scratch?
Thanks again

Hi, apologies for the delay replying.... Do you still need help?
The script removes most HTC bloat - there are a couple of apk's you need to install back to system.....
You can either flash the ROM again, and modify the the user file, or install the missing apk's which you can extract from the ROM zip - if you need help, let me know....

Hiya mate.
So I decided to rebuild my phone rather than restore APK's. I've attached a no-sense.txt file from your post and hashed out a few apps and added the kid mode thing.
does this look right? I think this is the one I used before and yet it never removed twitter. Does it sometimes have to be ran more than once?
Thanks again. Lots of thumbs up to you.

Credit to @R_a_z_v_a_n for the explanation (save me doing it!)
Odex Vs Deodex:
What is an ODEX file?
In Android file system, applications come in packages with the extension .apk. These application packages, or APKs contain certain .odex files whose supposed function is to save space. These ‘odex’ files are actually collections of parts of an application that are optimized before booting. Doing so speeds up the boot process, as it preloads part of an application. On the other hand, it also makes hacking those applications difficult because a part of the coding has already been extracted to another location before execution.
What is an DEODEX file?
Deodexing is basically repackaging of these APKs in a certain way, such that they are reassembled into classes.dex files. By doing that, all pieces of an application package are put together back in one place, thus eliminating the worry of a modified APK conflicting with some separate odexed parts.
So, Deodexed ROMs (or APKs) have all their application packages put back together in one place, allowing for easy modification such as theming. Since no pieces of code are coming from any external location, custom ROMs or APKs are always deodexed to ensure integrity.
The advantage of deodexing is in the ability to modify various APKs.
On the other hand, since the .odex files were supposed to quickly build the dalvik cache, removing them would mean longer initial boot times. However, this is true only for the first ever boot after deodexing, since the cache would still get built over time as applications are used. Longer boot times may only be seen again if the dalvik cache is wiped for some reason.
Re GPS, please install GPS Status Test & Fix - No Ads from the store and let me know if this runs ok....
MANY MANY THNX for the reply and credits to Razvan indeed
Reg the gps, do i have to be outside on open space to test it?? how long do i have to wait for it to synchronise?

GPS will require sight of sky, so go near a window..... You should get a number of satellites within seconds, and a fix seconds after that.....

[Solved] Newflasher, which files to flash?

Hi everyone :good:
I'm a proud new owner of an XZP, which I got as a "refurbished" (think it's from a shop).
I digged through a few settings and found that I indeed have a firmware of a swiss carrier on my device,
hence it didn't get the latest updated yet (still on October Security patch).
Now I read through a lot of threads but I didn't find a definitive answer sadly.
I want to flash the Customised German FW (already downloaded) but I don't really know which files of the extracted FW I need (if possible I would like to flash the FW without losing any data on the device).
Any help is appreciated
EDIT: After looking into the files my guess would be to only flash the partition folder, the boot folder and the .sin files minus the userdata .sin file?
EDIT 2: I attached a picture of the files I flashed in post #7
The only problem I came across is the "device decryption failed (corrupt data)" so I guess there's no way to keep data with newflasher?
I understand the need to not lose your files. But to be on the safe side I recommend maybe backing up your files and flashing all files. This ensures the firmware is entirely flashed. Better safe than sorry bud. I use the Europe version and I'm in the USA hence I wanted the fingerprint reader to work lol. Best of luck to you

Thanks for the recommendation, but I'm really not in the mood to set it all up again, that's why I'm specifically asking.
And I don't think that the versions differ in any way other than the security patches and a few bug fixes so the userdata shouldn't corrupt anything while flashing the new firmware (my main goal here is to get faster OTA - carrier fw are lacking that).
I'm just not sure which files are actually mandatory for the new firmware and which aren't.
Whatever you do please leave your bootloader locked. I regret unlocking mine. Broken camera and I have to flash a DRM patch or Turbo's rom.

After owning a z3 I know the struggle with the UB all too well and I'm not eager to do it, thank you though for your heads up :good:
i know your problem, forum is missing a good clear guide. I been flashing from customized tmobile PL to CE1. after downloading rom with xperifirm delete every file ending by .ta file format to keep drm keys. its recommended to format user data to avoid problems. note I lost wifi calling and volte but at least I'm free of bloatware crap

Funny thing is I don't even have any trace of the carrier software on my phone besides not getting the latest updates.
I have backed up most of my stuff with Xperia Companion and I will remove the sdcard before flashing just to be sure.
Will probably try to flash without formatting userdata (jump from October to December update should work).
Is there any risk in damaging the device to the point of no return (I have quite good knowledge of the whole flashing process etc from my experience with z3 and it was impossible to hardbrick the z3)?
Sorry for asking a (probably) stupid question but I just got this and I don't want to see it dead :silly:
EDIT: I'm impatient so I just started the flashing process with the files like in the attached picture (deleted all .ta's from main-folder, userdata etc.)
EDIT 2: Okay, was unnecessary to do all this, it displays a message "decryption unsuccessful" and I need to factory reset my device
EDIT 3: I obviously made the right choice changing now because I just got an update notification for 47.1.A.12.34 (which is the January update)

Will probably result in the same "decryption unsuccessful" error though and I read somewhere that there's a few problems
with Flashtool and newflasher is working perfectly fine.
And one thing that bothers me the most about flashtool is the fact that it's hosted at uploaded.to and you can't update it from the tool itself (inconvenient as hell).

I used Flashtool to debrand yesterday, worked fine. I did use newflasher to put the 3 firmware on my phone a couple of months ago and that worked fine too.
I agree about the lack of update within the tool, although the torrent download is never more than 5 minutes

Hey man. Do you think you could give a little advice please? I unlocked and rooted using the drm patch a while ago as I'm still using Nougat.
Is there any info on flashing oreo over nougat with the drm patch? I saw the updated guide but last I checked it doesn't address updating to oreo from an already unlocked and patched device. I literally used sToRmz original method before he changed the thread. I've tried a bit of digging but there's so much abstract information I backed away.
Honestly I'm just getting bored of nougat lol.

I'm not trying to be annoying here but this doesn't have anything to do with what I started this thread for. Please open one for yourself or ask in the original thread of the patch (it's not just confusing, you won't get attention in here for stormz patch).

did you flash with Europe firmware and Did it work? If so , please guide me through the process. i tried flashing CE1, Customised IN versions but not successful. It was "NO partition delivery" and also "No flash script" error. i have used flashtool 24.2 version.
I flashed the German customised one but doesn't matter. Just flash the files I flashed (delete every .ta file except the one in the boot folder) with newflasher and you should be good to go, don't forget to copy the boot folder and extract the partition.zip into a partition folder you have to create (but be aware your /data is probably gonna be reset because of a decryption error, so back everything up).
I will try to write a more detailed guide when I'm on my PC (mobile is too much of a hassle).

Copy all the .sin files + the boot folder + the extracted partition files inside a partition folder into the main folder of newflasher.
Better to search for the Newflasher thread and read it thoroughly, just to be sure.

Okay, weird. I read through the original Newflasher thread and there were a few posts about the "decryption failed" error and losing data.
Did you come across any other bugs/problems afterwards? Like not receiving OTA etc.?
